Hi  Sunny Saturday here Laughing heavy rain tomorrow forecast.Frown
Had very strange day yesterday. Phone call night before to say my last remaining uncle had pased away. He was 86 funeral five minutes from where I live so DH and I went.
Hadnt seen his family for many years as they had all moved away so didnt expect to be recognised but was hugged and kissed and recognised by them all.
Service was really lovely, a celebration of a long and happy life.He was a cancer survivor of 25 years by the way.
After we had a fabulous time remembering our childhood memories, laughed so much our sides ached, he was such a funny man with a dry sense of humour.
Now back in touch with my lovely cousins via e.mail and face book Laughing.
Then off to shedmans to carry on painting, ( DH not me ) his lovely wife cooked us a gorgeous pasta dish which we enjoyed al fresco, something which rarely happens in England lol.
He ate all his meal plus ice cream  ! it was wonderful, at this rate he will soon have some weight back on.

Nihahi, sure your help is appreciated but must feel like two steps forward and one step back with the weather.
    Hope conditions settle soon. x

Liefie, hope you are having a lovely break and birthday, bet your bag is over flowing with tiny items too x

Traii, are you enjoying the drain free experience ? is DS home again yet. x

Dakota, how did the reveal go ? x

Websister/Benny/Morwenna/Maria have a wonderful week end with lots of fun and no se's for those still having treatment.

Onwards and upwards Warrior sisters. X

    Hi girls,

Back from Vancouver, and catching up. Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone - it is really appreciated!

Dakota, so glad you like your fipples, and there was no infection or other problems. You are now almost at the end of this reconstruction thing, eh? Just getting some tattoos to finish everything off nicely, I presume?

Traii, must feel so good to be rid of that pesky little doggie on the leash. Once you lose the last drain you feel almost normal again. No more attachments! It's now on to tattoos for you too I guess?

Nihahi, you sound like a real busy bee helping out so much. Good for you!

Edi, love the warrior girl - that's what we are! Good to hear shedman is eating well, and DH is doing nice things for him. Must have been so good for you to see your family again even if it was a sad occasion. Thanks for the lovely cake - those roses smell heavenly!

Had a grand old time in Vancouver, lovely sunny weather too. DH took me to a French restaurant for the birthday celebration, also had a massage and a manicure, and did some retail therapy. There were many sales on, and I invested in some shoes and clothes. We spent lots of time walking around the city and along the seawall, admiring all the private boats/yachts in the marinas, the huge cruise ships coming and going, watching the people, just relaxing and having fun. Felt so spoilt, and coming home yesterday was like waking up from a beautiful dream. DH really so good to me, and I owe him big time.

Have a lovely weekend, warrior sisters!

    Hello All,

Well this is my third try at posting in the few days, my kindle shut down on me both times. So frustrating.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend

Edi, Sorry to hear about your Uncle, glad you got to be reunited with family. It's great your friend is doing better.

Dakota so good to hear you are happy with your results.

Traii sounds like your healing is coming along, that  is great to hear.

Liefie yeah for your fab. birthday weekend you deserve it.

Movie I hope your DD is doing well, and that you are holding up as well.

Nihahi bless you and all your hard work you are giving to your community, the world needs more people like you.

I asked the onc about the tingling, she told me it is a se of taxol and to start taking B6. I am to let them know if that does not help when I go Weds. and then they may adjust my dose. I've been taking it for 4 days now with no change.

MY DH had his shoulder surgery this Thursday, they removed a good size bone spur, he is healing nicely some pain but handling it well. My DD is healing well from her surgery. It feels like all I do anymore is travel the Denver metro area from one doctor to the next. Hopefully this time next year we will all be healed and healthy.

We went to see Cirque Du Soleil on Wed. night what an amazing show, if any one ever gets the chance go and see one of their productions, they never disapoint.

Well I'm going to turn in Love to all of you,

Morwenna, This could be you with a name like that, we watch Merlin here and it is the adventures of King Arthur and the knights of the round table. Exotic names in it like yours. You are living up to your name Laughing.

Liefie, glad you back safe and sound. Your DH sounds like a good one. We need to know, did you get any baba things ?

Maria, gosh you are going through a bit of a time Frown hopefully all will be well soon. DH been at shedman's this morning finishing off his special relaxing area. Think I will hire him out !! Shedman is thrilled and therefore DH is too. Now planning maybe a little holiday ( in England ) with him and his wife.

GD landing on us soon, her Mum and Dad are going to see their wedding venue for next year. ED getting excited future SIL keeps glazing over, lol.
Spent this morning taking IN my outfit for next Saturdays nuptials, ED's too. Lovely to be doing such normal things again.
Shoes I got are a bit high ,can see me doing a Liefie and falling armpit over elbow in them. May try and source lower heels tomorrow. Oh NO not retail again LOL. such stress ( not ) putting soft flat gold shoes in bottom of handbag anyway.

Liefie and Edi.....you're going to be putting us girls with dusty boots and wornout runners on our feet to shame! Wow Edi....still taking your clothes IN.....you must be a toothpick!

So glad to hear how everyone sounds well.....that means you too Maria....you are handling all the family stuff and tx se's with style and grace lady! Hope the B6 helps....I thought it was B12??? At any rate, maybe a higher dose?? Vitamins often take a bit of time for the effects to be shown, I think.

Movie has asked me to pass on an update. Not much said about how her daughter is doing, other than daughter was headed home. Movie is about halfway home herself, and expects to be back at her place this evening. She has been reading, but not posting. She has also found out her next stage of her recon will be Sept 3. She is grateful for all the prayers and messages of support.

Again, I'm heading out to High River in a few minutes, so have got to dash. Catch you all later. Hugs to all ((((X))))

Movie, so happy this is behind you, and I hope DD will recover completely. I'm with you on the heavy pain meds. People sometimes struggle to come off it.

Dakota, glad you are happy with your nipples. Why are you so busy? Has school started up yet? Here in Canada students only go back in the beginning of September.

Maria, seems you have a house full of patients? Hope they are all recovering well. Cirque du Soleil sounds lovely! Saw them in Vegas - those acrobats are just breathtaking.

Edi, enjoy getting everything ready for the wedding. Did you find shoes? I often do the same as you, carrying a second comfortable pair in my handbag. Vanity, thy name is woman! LOL.

Nihahi, still slaving away in High River? After this you will have to get a job - you will miss being busy, eh?

I went back to the gym today. Had a yogalates class first, and then did interval training on the treadmill. Felt so good to be finally moving again, and to be back in my normal routine. Couldn't do everything, but did enough. No more big surgeries looming on the horizon - this journey is finally coming to an end. Halleluja!

The one thing I have learned from this journey is there is no going back, we will never be the same person we were before. It's a matter of finding the "new normal" and getting to be ok with it. My assignment for myself right now is to look for the positive in that, and not dwell on the negatives.

Benny, how are you doing? Seems like it's been awhile since we heard from you. Hope you are spending lots of healing time with the giant plush toy. :-)

    Hi everybody,

Sitting outside with my laptop, enjoying summer. I am just drinking it in, because come November it will start raining till March with some snow somewhere in between, usually around Christmas.

Big excitement here early this morning. DH went outside to empty the compost bucket, and met a bear at the compost site. He put some distance between him and the bear as quick as he could in his slippery crocs - lol - then shouted for me, still in bed, to come and see it. By the time I reached the deck, the bear had lost its nerve, and ran away. That compost is a problem now, because the bear will surely return. DH says it was a young adult, probably just kicked out by its mother. I'm glad it was a bear and not a cougar. Those things stalk you, bears don't. They meet you face to face - lol.

Good thing it was not me who went to empty the compost bucket this morning. I am quite sore from the exercise yesterday, and would not have been able to move fast - LOL.

Edi, you asked if I bought baby stuff. It was my intention, but I never got to the baby store. Grandma got side-tracked by all the shoe and clothes sales going on . . . but I'm planning to buy some thingies, and mail it to DD without telling her. She is about 8 weeks now, and doing great so far. You must be getting excited for the wedding, eh?

Jennie, your philosophy is a good one. We cannot change the past. In some ways my life is much better than before bc. I had a serious wake-up call to make every day count, and to enjoy every little thing to the fullest. Life is so good, and I am so grateful to still be here.

Benny, is your computer acting up again? We miss you!

Almost 11 pm here, first chance to post today.
Had to go to optician for check on possible cataract in right eye. Have been told there is one starting for about 10 years now !
Seemed to be alright so met BC buddy for coffee and two hour chat. My ED and her son have almost set a date for their wedding probably July next year.
GD will be the best girl and carry wedding rings. Future SIL can't decide which of his friends to have so having his best girl instead. She is thrilled. All being well they are getting married by the beach. The venue has a balcony overlooking the sea.
Civil ceremony then meal for just close family.
A week later ,big party complete with bouncy castle at the local cricket club for everybody else.
    Can't wait.

Nihahi, not a toothpick it was a big size 12 honest. Alterations done most of stuff sorted for weekend of celebrations. YAY.

Liefie, goodness a bear !! glad DH moved fast. Still no shoes found will have to stagger around in the high ones with flats in handbag lol.
Good luck with baby stuff. Such fun.

Movie, yes that was the venue for nephews wedding, hope it is as gorgeous as the photo. Hope DD improving.

Jennie, wise words, we definitely aren't the same, you are so right.

Maria, hope you and DH and DD improving.

    Traii, Are you ok ?

Benny hope you are having lots of Diamond time.

Dakota, The grand unveiling will be so exciting for you.Was reading first few pages on here and so proud of the way you have fought BC despite lack of support from the insect. That 12 months has galloped by.

Hi everyone! Just a super-quick pop-in here as the farrier is coming to the farm today so I have to get my behind in gear and get out there. I am doing okay-ish, still struggling with fatigue a bit and insomnia. I do think I've discovered a solution for the insomnia tho...... ear plugs! I have been spending all my waking moments with the giant plush toy and am riding her again. She is full of it tho' for an older gal but then I can appreciate her attitude haha! Traii, I am definitely not a pro, I just started riding at age 49. It was a lifelong dream to own a horse and here I am. That being said, even the pros take lessons on a regular basis. Edi, hope you've looked into lessons?

Dakota, congrats on the positive unveiling!

Jennie, I appreciate where you're at with the new normal thinking. I have glimpses of the old me, the old life, but it will never be the same again. As Dr. Phil says, ya can't un-ring a bell. I still haven't started my Tamox because I just started feeling better and really want to revel in it for a moment.

Nihahi, I hope you're getting rest in between your very busy schedule?

Okay, have to run as I'm already late and the farrier does not like that.

    Be back later.....

Benny, I am in awe of you learning to ride at 49, and keeping at it! Years ago when my children were little we all took riding lessons. The kids learned to ride in no time (of course!), and DD still rides whenever she can. DH and I . . . not so much - lol. I really love horses, and wanted to learn, but the third time I was thrown off, that was it. I lost my nerve, and was just too scared to get back on. DH also did not do too well. So you are pretty brave and courageous in my eyes. Way to go!

Movie, don't worry. I have a healthy respect for bears, and won't go near them. How is DD doing?

Liefie....DD is slowly getting better......I really think (in her case) that a person must want to GET better, in order to start to FEEL better......am I making ANY sense? In her case, she has felt so awful for so long...it's her. New normal, and she doesn't have very high expectations for anything to improve.....I truly hope she is pleasantly surprised...

Nihahi....how goes the volunteering? Are you still contemplating a side trip south? :D

    Edi......I think I need a cake....in honor of....well...just because....I need a pick-me -up, and you do such lovely creations!

Benny, love hearing from you, and in awe of the fact you took up riding at 49.... You are amazing! Love the thought....that you can't un-ring a bell......profoundly true, isn't it?

allergies are driving me nuts......took two Benedryl and now am drifting......stopping, so I don't start talking gibberish........

Movie....I have a day off of Red Cross work, so before I do the "take the neighbour to chemo thing" I am frantically trying nail down somewhere to stay in Glacier. I have a friend (humourously just as insane as we are!!!! My BEST FRIEND THROUGH ALL THIS CRAP....my hiking, skiing, insanity buddy who is coming with us. I have a few minutes today to hopefully get this organized....cross your fingers we can find somewhere to stay. IT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!! Sorry you are feeling down.....If we can pull off this rendezvous.....it'll be hugs, laughs and good times!

re: your daughter......just like my son AND daughter....have struggled for so long, that a dysfunctional life is the norm for them, and the motivation to change, just isn't there.

    Hi everyone,

Rads are going ok. Biggest hurdle was finally understanding that appointment times are pure works of fiction and subject to review on a daily basis! Now I realize that I can cope with it. :) To begin with I was like "WTF??!!!"

I am developing a pink square on my left chest, which is the area covered by the "bolus", as I have very little depth of my own tissue remaining there. I'm getting quite good at the "deep breath and hold", although yesterday the therapist kept saying "a little bit more.... little bit more ...", until eventually I exhaled in exasperation, and laughingly exclaimed, "I can't! I'm full! You must have drawn the line in the wrong place!" Then they adjusted something and I could manage easier again.

Bit ticked off on Friday when I saw the hematologist, and he decreed that anticoagulants had to go on for at least a year. Maybe it was selective hearing but I really thought I'd be done in September, once my injection prescriptions ran out.

He agreed to let me switch to oral Warfarin, which has pros and cons, as it means frequent blood draws and adjustments to reach the therapeutic level.

I can see why the docs say lmw heparin is easier, but then I say they should pay for the bally things .... $1000 a month!! Warfarin is hugely cheaper, but for them it means all that lab time and fiddling about. I can cope with that. Nothing much else to do with myself, and only one med to take per day, and give my poor bruised tummy a rest!

Good morning everyone! I've had another sleepless night (how many sleepless nights can a person have before it affects their health?) and can barely make it from one room to the next this morning without getting winded. This is not good because I have to go to Federated Co-Op today and pick up 600 pounds of beet pulp and horse ration. And you know who's gonna be unloading those bags into the middle barn?? Yup. Me!! Crap.

Nihahi, I still don't have Charlotte here but she is coming. I don't yet know where I'm going to put her. Paddy the rescue pigeon is in the computer room, so Charlotte will likely have to go in the sewing room. Hopefully I can get her into some sort of birdie diaper suit and she can wander around. Benny has never seen a chicken before so this will be interesting. He used to sleep with another rescue pigeon I had a few years ago, Trevor, so he is really good with the birds. I have photos somewhere of the two of them hanging out together, if anyone's interested.

Ugh, I can't believe how exhausted I am today. It's like chemo days all over again. :(

Liefie and Movie, learning to ride was such a burning passion I don't think I'll ever stop. Liefie, do you have an acreage? If so you could certainly have a horse or two as companion animals. Or look into a horse rescue in your area where you could go and groom them, hang out with them. Would only cost you the gas to get there. I don't know when you'd have time for that tho'?? LOL You're pretty busy these days.

Traii, sorry to hear about DS. Ear infections are nasty.

Morwenna, I remember getting to rads for 0800 and finding out that (1) the machine was down so we'd have to wait; (2) there was an emergency so we'd have to wait; (3) they were already behind so we'd have to wait; etc etc. I knew it wasn't the girls' fault tho, they did what they could.  Hang in there! Are you Glaxal Basing yourself?

Okay, better get the truck fired up and off to the Co-Op....... Frown (we need an 'exhausted' emoticon)

Traii, those darn ear infections are no fun, for the kid, OR the parents......hope he starts to feel better soon. :(

Nihahi....bring your friend....come for a long day.....it would be so fun! We can compare scars on the trail! :D. Iceberg is long, but very doable....I see families with younger children every year......you and your best bud just get up early Sat. Morning.....and drive down to Many Glacier.....it's the first road into the park once you cross the border....it is going to take us at LEAST 1 and 1/2 hours from West Glacier......have you tried Many Glacier Hotel? When I booked two weeks ago, they DID have rooms available, according to the website......at the very least, we can spend the day together, and grab dinner at the hotel afterwards, before we go our separate ways.......

Edi, Dakota , Websister, Liefie, Morwenna.....am thinking of you, TOO. Hope all have good days......

    Love to all......

If doesnt improve won't be able to get to the wedding !! Must be stomach bug, don't want to give to anyone else. Will ring Doc's in morning. Not eating for 24 hrs to see if it helps.

Oh no Edi! This just sucks! That Johnny Cash just has it in for you, it seems. Must be his pesky ghost though - the man is long gone. LOL! Sincerely hope you will recover in time for the wedding that you've been looking forward to for so long. I can fully identify, because I have an iffy stomach myself that can become upset at the drop of a hat. Big hugs!

Nihahi and Movie, we want to see photos of your rendevouz, okay? Exercise is going well. The pedometer keeps me accountable on the days I don't go to the gym, and most days I log more steps than I have to just for the heck of it, competing against myself. Dog is also getting lots of exercise - lol. Was at gym this morning for yoga - heavenly - and walk/run on the treadmill afterwards. Then went out to lunch with the personal trainer who has become a good friend. She loyally supported me through all the ca drama last year, and gently coaxed me back into exercise after chemo and rads. Love her, and will be adding strength training twice a week starting Tuesday. Just love to be back in my normal routine with all the drama behind me.

Movie, my sincere wish is that your DD will one day realize that her pain is gone, and that life will be good for her again. She is so young to handle all this - not fair.

Websister, how are you? Between working and enjoying that baby you must be busy!

Benny, thanks for the tip re hanging with the horses. Sounds like fun. I am so busy because it is summer, and I don't want to waste a minute of the glorious weather here, so outside most of the time. DH bought himself a stand-up paddleboard yesterday, and will probably try it out after work today. Going to be such fun watching him losing his balance, and falling off - lol. If he gets it right, I may also try . . . hope we have more success there than with horseriding.

Morwenna, hang in there with the rads. Have you checked your shoulder blade in the mirror lately? I had a perfect red square there too after rads - lol.

Traii, glad to hear you are recovering well, and sorry DS has ear ache - ouchy. Hopefully it gets better soon, and you will be getting some sleep. You need it, girl! Have you tried a little heat on the ear like hot water bottle maybe? Not too hot though - that may help a little.

Liefie, I was told to put the cream as far as I could reach over to the back of my shoulder, but so far am not really seeing any redness there.
