Dakota, you are a lovely looking lady and you have a great personality. Call the Orkin Man to keep the cockroach out of your home for good. Just my 2-cents. Tammy
-
Seriously, Dakota.....I can't imagine how sad and scary this is for you and your kids, but haven't you given him more than a few ultimatums already????? Maybe, think of your daughter.....is this the path you would advise her to take, as a wife who has been seriously and repeatedly "wronged"? The job thing sounds worrisome too, but cockroach is NOT your chance at stability.....anychance you could find a position with better circumstances???? I'm so sorry you have all this crap to deal with, on top of all you have gone through.
Hey Tammy....how's things in PA?
Liefie....sounds like you are back on the exercise routine, for sure! Can you knit while on the exercise bike??
Trail.....what's up buttercup????
Time for another cup of coffee...then on with the day..have a good one, everyone!
-
Awwww, Dakota! Wish I could beam down, give you a big hug, and then whip out the Raid . . . So much to deal with, eh? It has to be really stressful, cockroach is the father of your two beautiful children, and you don't need this work issue just now with so much else on your plate. I am with Nihahi however. That man has proved over and over that he is NOT what you need or want. Actions speak louder than words. You deserve so much better, Dakota. My heart goes out to you! You can safely unburden yourself here, and get things off your chest - we are your sisters, and we always have your back, remember?
Nihahi, no, won't try knitting on the bike. Have mercy - one thing at a time, please? My old brain impaired by chemo and anaesthetics can't process more than that - lol. How many of those zero calories Timtams have you bought to take on your epic trek to Mount Wilbur? Lol.
Traii, we miss you!
Another cup of coffee for me too, then on to take the dog for a walk. Have to keep moving.
-
nihahi, wish I was going to the hike with you and movie.
-
I agree. I simply can't go on living like this. Everyone I think what if things change then I try to think its in gods hands. I am keeping to my word. I have given ultimatums but I didn't enforce it. I have told him numerous times this time that I am serious. I already have two lawyers and all I need to do is make the call. Edi I am do sorry about your scare !!!!
-
Hi everyone,
Just read to catch up on everyone.. After two different consults I'm having the blood test ran again. This Friday. Dr's say anything inflammation at all can cause it to rise.
Edi, so so happy all is fine with you!!
Much love to all,
Carla -
Dakota, make that call, and let the chips fall where they may. Let the healing begin. We're here for you anytime. ((((Big hugs!))))
Carla, hope you get good news on Friday.
-
carla....good to hear from you! Hope for better results on the next bloodwork!
Dakota.....It is in God's hands....he has given you insight into cockroach's behavior, he has given you access to lawyers, he has given you 2 children to set an example for as to what it truly means to love and support someone, and he has gotten you through bc, so those 2 children have a parent that WILL love and care for them, not a parent who cares for nothing but himself. I believe "leaving things to Gods hands" doesn't mean passively waiting for life to happen, it means using the tools God gives you. ((((((((((X)))))))))))
As liefie has said before....."by OUR actions, we teach people how we will allow ourselves to be treated"
-
I completely agree. I know he is going to counseling (because its court ordered) and he says its helping. I have no clue if he's lying again or not but part of me feelsije maybe he is getting the help he finally needs its such a hard decsion when to give up or hold on for one more try. That is why I set the date. I am not taking this anymore my terms now. All of nothing. I am sick of this sh**. I don't deserve it and the kids need a dad even if he is made to take them.
-
Good that he's getting counselling....might make him a better Dad. As far as being a better husband......you're a stronger woman than me, if you could trust him again, if you could live with him again, to say nothing about letting him "touch" you again. I hope you get some counselling too.....not to "change your ways", but to help you realize what an amazing woman you are, and that you deserve a happy, trustfilled, supportive life partner.

Nihahi,
That reminds me of the man whose house was being overtaken by flood-water. As the waters filled the ground floor, he retreated upstairs and prayed fervently for God to save him.
By and by a boat turns up at the bedroom window.
"Quick! Get aboard!", cried his would-be rescuers.
"No, no!", he replied."I must trust in my Lord to save me!"
So the boat went off without him.
After some time, when the waters had risen further, and the man had retreated to the roof, he heard the sound of a helicopter overhead.
"We're dropping you a line!" shouted the pilot through his megaphone. "Put your arms through, and we will lift you off the roof!"
"No,no!" he cried. "God will save me. I must trust in him!"
So the helicopter flew on.
Some hours later, the water flowed over the roof, and the man was swept away and drowned. As he approached the gates of Heaven, he saw St.Peter waiting there, and he said plaintively, "St. Peter, I had faith and trusted in the Father. I prayed to him to save me, but here I am. What gives?"
The saint sighed and replied, "Really? He sent you a boat, AND a helicopter! What more did you want??"
(If anybody offended, I apologize unreservedly) xxx -
we're on the same page, Morwenna....
gotta dash out to pick up some timtams for movie....but wanted to fyi......NO! stepping stones at the trailhead of Plain of Six Glaciers is NOT the norm!!!!!! Flood of 2013 strikes again!
-
Morwenna, I like that story. It is not offensive at all! God helps those who help themelves, eh? That's what we have brains and intellect for, given to us by God.
Timtams for Movie - LOL. If Okotoks runs out of Timtams, give me a shout. Plenty available here! I have not given in to the temptation yet . . . don't know how much longer I will be able to resist, even though ours are 'zero calorie' - LOL.
Have to share a joke my sister, forever struggling with her weight, sent me this morning. A naked woman steps on a scale, checks her weight, and announces, 'I will subtract 5 lbs from my weight. Boobs and brains this fabulous should not count against me!'
-
Hi Ladies - haven't been posting, but I have been reading.
Dakota, can't presume to know the full details of your situation, but the two things that stick in my mind are i) he didn't give you his full support during your treatment and ii) girl-friend. In my opinion, that combo alone says he can't be trusted. I know divorce is painful, especially with children involved, but to me it seems like he has already used up all his chances. Sending hugs and positive thoughts your way!
Carla, will be thinking of you on Friday and hoping/praying you get good results. -
Bellies....like others, been reading, not posting.....
Edi-when I read about your scare, my stomach knotted up.......so, so sorry you had to go through that! Please know that I am thinking about you, (and the rest of these awesome ladies) even if not posting.....and the thought that you had received such a fright, made me very sad. I am sending special Movie (((HUGS))) across the pond just for you...XO
Morwenna, so impressed with your hiking "skills"! I am sure I would have had trouble on the hike you described.....please pat yourself on the back-you deserve it! Loved your waiting for God's help story.......we do sometimes forget that He always answers our prayers....we just might not like the answer, OR more likely, we are looking for the wrong answer.....

Tammy-if you were closer, you COULD join us! We could hike to the base of Mt. Wilbur (really!) together, and leave a stack of rocks, like they do in Hawaii......I am sure Nihahi will post pics.....and they will most likely be very embarassing to me......
I am way out of shape......this has NOT been my year.....or anybody else's year, either! Liefie-I liked your sis's joke....I may have to apply to myself! You will have to give in to temptation and buy a package of the TimTams......I promise you will not be sorry....just don't let DH see them, or you may not get another....I am lucky, DH is gluten-free.....yay! Anesthesia Brain is bad today.....i cannot remember if I told you how happy I was your doggie returned......such good news!
By the way-doggie pathology report bac- lowest stage Mast Cell Cancer, and VERY clear margins.....so, until the next one crops up (these sometimes do that, but not considered mets) she's clean....kinda like me, I guess.....

Dakota, you are probably sick of hearing this....but I agree with the ladies.......cockroach needs to move on....you want to let daughter know that no one needs to put up with bad behavior, and that she is worth enough to expect a man to be kind and decent.....you are a beautiful woman......hold out for Prince Charming! Sending you (((HUGS)))! XO
Carla-sending you positive vibes that you receive good news this Friday......and prayers heaven-ward!
Maria-glad you had such fun with your friend.......thank goodnes for them, right?
Nihahi........looking forward to rendevouz on Saturday! TOWANDA!

Caitlin-nice to hear from you!
Traii and Benny and Websister......I hope you are all doing well. Thinking of you all!
Love to all!
Namaste and God bless - Jackie

Sitting here with tears dripping of this old chin
you are ALL so wonderful.
Want to go on that hike with Movie and Nihahi and friend and eat tim tams despite sugar overload !!
For those of you who asked my scare was lump caused by rads. Wish they had told me this might happen. Have become friends with BC survivor on the pharmacy in our Sainsbury's, she had reassured me the week before my tests as she had gone through same scare not long before. LOVE her to bits. She is like a huggable version of you girls.
Always get a big hug when she is on shift, customers stare at us, but she soon puts them straight as to the reason
Thank you all for your responses, so wanted to mention it but thought I would wait until I knew for sure the cause of this lump.Carla, you too will be fine on Friday, it is the waiting that again is the worst. Please let us know xx
Movie, hug received with thanks.
You mad women will have a riot with or without tim tams.Glad Doggie ok too.Caitlin, lovely to hear from you, x

Sorry I've been quiet lately, been reading on my phone but give up trying to type to everyone as it takes too long! I have been preparing for our little family vacation.
We haven't told my DS, we will keep it as a suprise for the day ..... and that means no nagging, "is it time yet, is it time yet?"!!!
My gorgeous parents are coming too, we are all excited to get away from the craziness!
Edi, so sorry you had to go through what you went through but so happy happy that your results were all good

Nihahi and Movie, sounds like fun times ahead. I'm sure you girls will have so much fun. Nihahi, you are so funny, preparing the Tim Tams for Movie. Don't go eating them before you meet ok? LOL
Liefie, sorry to hear about your friends son. Hope they are both doing ok. It would be hard dealing with going back home to the place where she found her son. Hope she finds the strength to go back.
Carla, thinking of you hun.
Caitlin, how are you going?
Dakota, glad you finally gave him the final date. Good that he is getting the help finally, that he needs but for the kids sake. It can't be easy on them. OR YOU !!
Morwenna, good story.

Adagio, I never responded to your post the other day - forgetfulness, chemo brain, old age - take your pick! LOL. We lived in Cape Town before we came to Canada almost 15 years ago. It is a beautiful city nestled in the elbow of Table Mountain on the Atlantic ocean. Take the cable car up the mountain from where you can see the whole of the Cape Peninsula. Go see Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. Also make sure to see Stellenbosch and Franschhoek not far from Cape Town. That is where most people from Europe settled when they came to South Africa in the 1600's. Think wineries, vineyards, quaint little shops and restaurants, beautiful architecture, museums, huge old oak trees everywhere.
Got such bad news last night. A boy who my sons had been friendly with in the past, had been found dead all alone in a hotel room in Kelowna. He had a wound to his head which suggests foul play. He is the age of my oldest DS, and we know the parents a little. I am so upset and sad for their sake, and struggled to sleep last night. He was a very handsome young man, well-mannered and friendly. Must be so hard to come to grips with this. . . if you can ever make peace with something like this.
-
OMG, liefie, that is so awful. I can even begin to imaging...
I will be right up the Glacier with you Movie and nihahi.
-
Movie, can find Jacquelyn Hugie Chambers on FB.
-
Edi,
I am staying with my family in Sussex, but today I feel a bizarre urge to attempt Mount Snowdon while I am over!!!
I just checked and it is about 6 hours drive away, so I don't know if its a pipe dream. Is probably need to stay over the night before and the night after .... Am I crazy?
Nihahi, I would have half a mind to follow you and Ade to Glacier Park, but I am travelling to Edmonton on Saturday to sing in a show! Gotta find my false eyelashes and everything! We're travelling by coach, and won't be home until about 2.00 a.m, so that's my adventure for this weekend!
I had a bit of crisis of confidence when I felt so tired after last weekend, and wondered if I should chicken out, but after a truly exhausting three hour rehearsal on Tuesday I realized that I can do this, and my chorus buddies' energy will carry me through!
-
Morwenna, that is one long journey. Defo stay overs required. Mount Snowdon might be enjoyed more if you just gaze at it.
In a beautiful part of the world in a National Park.
Hope you have a fab weekend, eyelashes and all. x -
*sings: "Climb ev-ry moun-taaaain!"*
-
Morwenna, you can walk up Snowdon but there is also a railway up and back. DH took me for Mothers Day years ago it was perishing cold, still havent forgiven him. LOL.
-
As Movie said......"going off the grid" tonight. Ade is coming over tonight for a sleepover, so we can get a reasonable start in the morning...aka two cups of coffee before hitting the road!
Will be thinking of you all, and hopefully will have lots of photos to post of the adventure!!!!
Stay well, stay strong....love to all!
-
liefie - that young man dying sends shivers through me and in such a horrible way. I agree - how do you come to terms with something like that?
My husband will be working at the university in Stellenbosch so I suspect that I will get to know that town quite well!!! We do plan on going on a wine tour and I have heard that there are some great restaurants.
We will then spend a full week in Cape Town and plan to do the "touristy" stuff. I have heard that it is amazing.
-
I am off, ladies....into the wild, blue yonder.....to rendevouz with our Nihahi.....So looking forward to a wonderfully fun weekend.....you will all be with us in spirit!
XOXO
Jackie
