So let's have a contest of ideas, shall we.....

Look at Yorkie's cow picture and answer the following question:

--Who do you think that man voted for, and why?

Ok, so let me reorganize my thoughts here. We may have a gay rights supoorter (this is getting like something Bill Maher or Chris Rock --my favorite comedians-- would go in for) who is vegetarian. In that case, definitely Dennis Kucinich for 2008.

At first I was thinking Kentucky, Mitch McConell, because he isn't Ashley Judd.

Holding my breath about the marks but saw this in the American Prospect.

    Very interesting thoughts.

    THOU SHALT NOT GOVERN

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s snub from the Conservative Political Action Conference is dumb—he’s the most popular Republican governor in the country—but it makes sense: In the course of governing a blue state, he’s had to take positions that run counter to the national party. CPAC’s decision to exclude Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, on the other hand, makes no sense at all.

No one will ever mistake McDonnell for a moderate; during his campaign, he faced questions over work he did for his graduate degree—arguing, in essence, that women were better served working in the home—and once in office, he rushed to implement conservative policies, from large budget cuts to new restrictions on abortion. By the end of his first year, he was hailed as a presidential contender and vanguard of the Republican right. Indeed, under his tenure, Virginia state politics have taken a sharp turn to the right—yes, Barack Obama won the state in 2012, but Republicans control the General Assembly as well as every statewide office (other than the two U.S. Senate seats, both held by Democrats).

McDonnell, in sum, is a model conservative governor. Of course, he’s also interested in governing his state, and over the last few months, he’s made a big push for transportation reform. The problem for McDonnell is that his bill includes tax increases to pay for new roads and repairs, thus breaking a campaign promise. What’s more, McDonnell agreed to expand Medicaid in order to win Democratic support for the measure. In other words, he made a pragmatic choice in order to get something done. So now, naturally, right-wing Republicans want nothing to do with him. Red State’s Erick Erickson, for example, denounced him as a sellout and a fraud. So in a way, we shouldn't be surprised that McDonnell was drummed out of CPAC; he seems to have violated the newest piece of conservative orthodoxy: “Thou shalt not govern.”

It’s hard to see the right’s endgame here. Shunning politicians for pragmatism might make for a more ideologically conservative Republican Party, but that will come at the cost of winning elections. And if a political party can’t win elections, what is it good for?

Chickadee, how did the port go? And thought of you through the CT today. 4 days of relaxation before Monday. Go on a date with DH and then tell us all the good stuff! ;-)

Just found out that Neil Young and Crazy Horse are performing here tomorrow night. Steve said he'd take me, but I just checked, the only tickets left are way up the back. I could just listen to my old LP's I guess. Poop - I wish I'd known earlier and got a ticket before we went away.

Chickadee, you have a head CT today? I hope you are taking a large bag - hopping in there with my buffalo lunch - and lots of napkins.

Chickadee - I just read your news.  Huge hugs from me, too.  Hoping for a boring CT scan for you.

We're busy packing, and I'm in meltdown mode about every 3 hours.  We think we found a townhouse to rent.  This is so weird, and I'm so incredibly stressed, I'm almost sorry we decided to do this.

GG, that's why we're not moving.  We would make a huge profit selling now, but no amount of money would make me consider it.  When I cannot climb the stairs any longer I'll just sleep in the family room.  hahaha!

Athena, I think he would vote (referring to the pic) "I'm an idjut".

Chick.....you're just going to be boring and that's all there is to it!

Welcome back Suzie and Lewing.  I'm jealous!

GG...I think we will be packing soon too. We have a conditional offer.  Firms on the 18th.  Still a waiting game.

Chickadee...I will be very quiet in your bag today.  Don't let the lioness eat me though.

Jackie, another "sin" I can remember McDonnell committing is saying no to redistricting, i.e. rigging, his state for presidential elections.

Chick, I'll be taking a long nap during your CT today. Just too boring to stay awake! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

((Chick))  visions of a good ( finding nothing of note ) scan.

GG....it is something akin to buyer's remorse in reverse.  It is easy to "dream" of what will be, but hard to recall and appreciate when 'packing to leave' stirs up every good memory you ever had about the place and life you experienced while there.  Hopefully, like many, you will grieve just a bit, then throw yourself into new places and things with a sense of adventure and joy.

Awwww thanks ladies. I made it through the first hurdle, the port. I stuffed my emotions and kept on until everything got real. The put so much paper on me I was getting claustrophobic, so the doc created a tent so I could see out. The first IV failed before he could start so they had to do it again. I felt those hot tears welling up, not because it hurt but just the reality of this shitty situation. So here i am buried under blue paper and trying not to cry. I kept wanting them to hurry up with the VerSed, I needed to not care about anything.

So they did and taped me up so I couldn't hold my head up straight. Had my DH fix that this morning.

Off to see the CT wizards in about an hour and they better darn sight use this port because I want to be done with IV's. I don't know I'll get results right away. I see my onc Monday before the first infusion of the evil drug.

This little chickadee ain't feeling so spunky right now.

Chickadee.  So so sorry that you have to go through this!  Getting that port put in....what an ordeal.  Here's hoping it now does the job it's supposed to do.  Good luck with the CT scan.  As others have said, we'll all be there with you!  Hugs to you!

Chick!!!!! Big, big hugs, and just let those tears go. We're crying with you. It'sour style to hold it together, but we're only human, and we do need to be honest with our feelings and release them. Be patient with yourself and you'll be making that wonderful little chickadee burble sound in no time. We're here for you, sister!

Chickadee, I am sorry you had a rough time of it. Personally I cry if the medical stuff upsets me. Tough shit, I am done tying myself in knots for the sake of medical personnel.

Hugs to Chickadee-dee-dee.  Put your head on our shoulders, sweetie. We're here for you!

On another note:  I have a love/hate relationship with Costco.  Love, because of great prices and mucho-friendly staff, but hate because I always spend too much!

But here's another reason to love Costco:

    Source: Puget Sound Business Journal

Costco Wholesale Corp. President and CEO Craig Jelinek is putting his name and company in the forefront of the latest drive to increase the federal minimum wage.

Jelinek was prominently quoted in a press release issued Tuesday by the national advocacy group Business for a Fair Minimum Wage.

In his statement, Jelinek said Costco’s starting pay is $11.50 an hour in the United States.

“Instead of minimizing wages, we know it’s a lot more profitable in the long term to minimize employee turnover and maximize employee productivity, commitment and loyalty,” Jelinek’s statement said.

    Hi Everyone,

Wanted to stop by and let Chickadee know I'm thinking of her today.  I can't tell you the number of times I cried on the radiation table and tears flowed down my cheeks.  I cried when they put the wire in my breast for the lumpectomy.  Just couldn't hold it in.

Chickadee ... Just want you to know I'm thinking of you and holding you close.

    love,

    Bren
