Hi hi hi! Still struggling to stay caught up . . . we'd barely returned home when my daughter came to visit for her mid-winter break, adding a new level of (delightful) chaos to our schedules.
Alexandria, very touched by what you wrote about your MIL; sending thoughts of comfort and peace her way (and yours). One of my 8th grade teachers - a wonderful man - was a survivor of the Bataan Death March and Japanese prison camps. I wonder if your MIL helped him during his years as a prisoner.
Athena, so sorry about your ob/gyn, and so impressed by your graceful reaction. Such a waste.
Susie, love the NZ pictures! I'll try to post some of mine over the next few days.
I can't remember who it was that brought up chiggers/midges/noseeums (are they really all different names for the same thing?), but my least favorite memory of Trinidad is watching intensely itchy red blisters pop up on my feet and ankles early in our trip. Eric was completely unaffected. I don't know if I'm especially sensitive, or if I strayed somewhere especially buggy that he didn't. (One possibility is all the time I spent staking out the verbena bushes looking for ruby topaz hummingbirds. If so, it was arguably worth it. These are absolutely amazing birds: when you first see them, they look dark, then the light will hit them just right and it's as though they've burst into flame. I'll paste an online image below, but it doesn't really do them justice. The red and yellow on their heads has this fiery intensity like nothing I've ever seen.)

Hi Lewing - it was me that brought it up - my DH is still affected - I'm glad I don't react.
-
Oh boy, do I ever relate to this!

-
Susie so jealous. I love bird watching and I would have been right there with you staking out the bush for a pic.
-
The perfect date, yorkie!

-
Athena, yes, but shhhh, don't tell the guys, lol!

I didn't say anything over here but last weeks scans were not boring. The little bastards found a lymph node in my neck to set up housekeeping. A liver met increased a bit. I have had a pain in the back of my head for weeks now which is now officially freaking me out. So far its been pills and shots, no more.
So tomorrow I'll have a port surgically placed. Wednesday I have a ct of my head(hope that's boring). Next Monday I will finally head into evil territory with infusions of Ixempra added to an increased dose of the Xeloda. 14 days on, 7 off, instead 7/7.
Had it too easy for some time now. Going to find out how traumatized I will be to finally lose my hair. All the while hoping the SE's aren't as bad as I've read.
I'm at 3 1/2 years from diagnosis and hoping this doesn't take away more time.
Cancer sucks. -
Ah, ((((((Chickadee))))))) I am so sorry to hear this. Sending zapping thoughts your way in hopes of exploding (or at least weakening) the little bastards so chemo can obliterate them. Fingers crossed that head pain is just tension, too.
(((((Chick)))))

(((((Chickadee))))) I'm sorry. Hope for a very boring head- with interesting thoughts only.

Chickadee - I'm so sorry to hear this.
Just remember, so many things can cause head pain. You are in my thoughts. xxo -
Many, many hugs Chickadee.
-
Chickadee, breaking my heart! Sent you a PM. Hugs to you!!!
-
Chickadee, so sorry you got this news. Sucks big time! Sending massive hugs and healing vibes to you. Will keep you in thoughts and prayers as you get the port, ct scan and new treatment. Hoping the ct scan is boring!!! Take care, hon!!!!
-
Hate to hear this Chickadee - keeping you in my thoughts and sending hugs.
-
Instant replay of all the above ---
Hugs, Jackie

{{{{{{{{{To Everyone}}}}}}}}}}}}. I wonder if chickadees look silly without feathers?!
-
No, Chick. They look sleek and beautiful, like hummingbirds! :-D
L -
Ah, chickadee, such crappy news. We like boring so much better. Hope all goes well with the port placement and getting started with the new treatments. I, too, am hoping the pain is from stress. Hugs.
-
-
Chickadees don't look silly without feathers. They are merely waiting for next season's collection. Remember that, Chick.
-
Oh, crap, Chickadee, I'm so sorry for this news. I hope the Ixempra blasts the little f%$&*rs into oblivion where they belong. And I'm already yawning in anticipation of a boring, boring, boring CT.
Hugs,
Linda
-
Crap. Sending hugs to you Chickadee.
-
Darn it all anyway, Chickadee. ((((Chickadee))))
Add me to the list of people wishing for a boring scan.
Mary
