Yorkie....all of the pictures are too funny.  Although I think I really will never bother again ( and I didn't even entertain the notion for a millisecond to watch Rand Paul )  I am glad that I watched Rubio.  I read ( brain drain immediately after apparently ) in Add Info ( Nathanial Downs )  that Rubio's speech was mainly to bash the Pres. and wasn't really an actual rebuttal, and as was the case with an un-named person during the debates this election just past, a good deal of it just was off-base or untrue rhetoric. 

Whatever promise was seen in this person......it is a will o' the wisp and has evaporated substantially.  Needless to even say, it would seem many on THAT side just can't seem to even glimpse how far they are from what a huge majority of the American people ( no matter what race, color, or creed ) say they wanted and are still wanting.  Watch out for the next three years -- dessicated could be a mild description .

Adding my Cdn 2 cents' worth (while our cents are still in circulation -- my opinion will be worth at least a nickel by this time next year!!):  it seems a bit (no, a LOT) silly for the opposition to offer a rebuttal to a SOTU speech.  It gets written in advance, without knowing what the President's speech will contain, so in that sense it's definitely NOT a rebuttal.  It's really only a "the President and his party stink and we're so much better" sort of speech, not worth hearing or listening to.  As for AYNRAND Paul, did ANYONE pay any attention?  And, for that matter, why would you?

Re the Botox crowd, they will never hold a candle to how Dame Maggie Smith can dismiss you with a simple expressive movement on her well earned face. Nor act as well.

Not certain but didn't the Redgraves keep their hands and scalpels off of what they started out with from the beginning.  I really detest the "LOOK"  of skin going back to places it has not been for many years.  Also eyes having something of a slant not in evidence a few years previously either.  A time or two I've even wondered to myself.....can they close their eyes when they sleep. 

I can't say I blame anyone for wanting to look as good as they can, but from my perspective ( and total lack of cash as well ) if it was good enough 25 yrs. ago, it ought to be good enough now.  Especially when your not fooling one single solitary person.  My total lack of style ( and that was a huge lack right from the get-go ) coupled with a larger than average taste for jeans with elastic waist bands ( especially since I have been on Arimidex ) and sloppy shirts and sweatshirts make what I look like ok....wrinkles, freckles, sags, bags, and all.

So New York Fashion Week is almost over. Here is a collection I liked and one I did not. First, the one I didn't. It was by Zac Pozen, who is now in the public eye because he is one of the judges on Project Runway. But this F/W 13/14 collection was showy and overdone, IMO. The show took place at the Waldorf (speaking of showy and overdone....) and I think Pozen really needs to edit himself. I found it overdesigned.

I like #1, too.  You mentioned Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's wedding dress.  I thought its simplicity suited her so well.

When watching the state of the union address last night, I was taken aback by the angry expressions on so many of the Republican faces.  It's a shame and I fear the bitterness they feel over the election will lead to the same old strife that has plagued congress these last several years.

Athena:  lovely dress, but probably not right for me.  The top looks good for a flattie, but I really need more of an A line, because I am heavy in the hips and waist.  Tight fitting tends to not look good.

I love Maggie Smith. I also think it is easier to age gracefully sometimes, if you were not barbie-perfect in youth. 

Athena, I agree on Posen, that was quite the mish-mash, although some of the ideas are good. I have been playing with the idea of wool embroidery and muted greens, for example. I am not that crazy about Rodrigues though. Not sure why. 

Athena - that first collection of dresses reminded me of the skit Carol Burnett did when she made a "dress" out of the Curtains of "Tara" - and left the CURTAIN ROD inthe shoulders...really, I couldn't stop laughing at that episode - and had a giggle looking at the dresses.  LOVED the second set, and if I only had one thigh/hip, they might be wearable.  I am definitely an A-line, but wear pants all the time, so it doesn't matter.

enjoyful - have you tried acupuncture for those joint pains - it's the only thing that helped me.  Know it doesn't work for everyone, but when it does, wow....a blessing.

Ah, Maggie Smith - and that line "what's a weekend"- perfection.

Sunflowers....I had the almost same exact feeling about the first dress collection.  Oh, not the part about Carol Burnett, but my amusement at reading your description nearly tipped me off my chair.  I was more thinking something akin to that is so wide away from the neck and abrupt when it stops.  One of the things I most recall about the episode is WHO of the 'players' in the skit could not contain their laughter. 

As for the article link.....I not only got a deep inner feeling of satisfaction and joy at the last sentence, but found the whole piece quite what I have felt for OUR President.  He is a TRUE leader.

E...as always, loving your Medicare descriptions as I then can take responsibility for nothing and have someone or something to blame.
