Paula I usually watch that show, but lately have been in too much pain to stay up after 9. Can't wait for my next acupuncture appointment. May have to succumb to some cortisone shots in the shoulder like E!

Excellent article Sunflowers! Long term vision makes for progress. Our pattern of business working only towards the next quarters profit statement and politicians just for the next election is only going to result in our eating somebody else's dust in the future if we continue down that path.
Happy Valentine's Day! I'm probably one of the few who really don't like these 'holidays' that seem to exist only to get us to spend money ... but I'm happy to wish well to all my friends for any reason!

-
Wabbit, I am not a fan of Valentine's or Mother's or Father's Day because I agree that they are just capitalist ventures in love.
Barb, sorry to hear about your ongoing pain.
My pain problems have happiliy almost disappeared thanks to my new mattress. Lucky, thankful, grateful me!! Hopefully my spa treatments this weekend will dissipate any remaining stress. Wish it were that easy for everyone.
-
Blue....the second picture is priceless.
Wabbit....I'm so with you on the holidays idea. I too dislike the commercialism aspect attached. Though I am glad that I 'learned' about them in the standard way......the older I got, the more I felt that giving something was sometimes a nice gesture at a holiday period, but didn't come anywhere close to loving and appreciating and being grateful that person was in my life. Several years ago we all but 'completely' stopped buying anything. A rarity now at our house, but it is something that will persist for the majority of folks I think.

Treason and Revolution? You can read the whole article at AddictingInfo.com It's not surprising that the radical NRA and its members/factions are doing more harm to the whole issue of gun safety than they could ever imagine. It usually happens when you build your case on lies.......
NRA Caught Handing Out Newsletter Calling For Treason And Violent Revolution
It's a bright, sunshiny Valentine's Day here in Niagara. I'll celebrate with medicinal dark chocolate! Cheers to you all!
-
Hubby and I usually buy each other cards for Valentine's Day but don't do the dinner out or presents or anything like that. I like cards, though I generally buy a "blank" one so I can write my own crappy words instead of relying on their crappy words. At least mine encompass my true sentiment.

About the clothes - I LOVED the second designer (whose name I have already forgotten). The clothes were lovely, though. The first one had everything too tailored for my taste - though I did like some of the embroidery.
-
I don't like Valentine's Day generally, but I wouldn't turn down a box of non-dairy chocolates from my DH either.
-
lindasa.....I read that article too. Sort of reminds me of how I sometimes see the plight of the other party. You are putting out what you see as winning strategies, while paying no attention to the fact that some time ago a decision was made about what is wanted. So the things that seem like they will win or the very things that will acutally cause a loss.....same thing with the NRA ----- the rest of us are focused on something far different and there are way more of us. When things are based on lies they always become out of touch, focus, and ridiculous ----- hard to believe that the NRA doesn't bother to even attempt to hear what anyone they don't agree with is saying --- ignoring what could be obvious is not a winning strategy.

Valentines' Day vent-I work at an elementary school, in the lunchroom, on the playground, and other places. Some of these kids I supervise and interact with for 7 years. On Valentines' Day I get to smile and say, "How nice." when they show me the valentines they've gotten for their teacher and the office staff, but none for me. I can't help but feel a bit hurt.:( I need to get over myself and grow up I guess.

What Linda said, Mary! That does seem very thoughtless of those kids, but most children are not highly empathetic. Btw, I never got a Valentine from any child I tested or worked with. I got lots of hugs though, so I'll have to take that.
-
Yrs, Yorkiemom-I do get lots of hugs so that's why I know I need to get over myself. It's just a Hallmark holiday anyway.

Sunflowers - I can't do acupuncture because it's too costly and I HAVE A HORSE TO FEED! I guess it's clear where my priorities lie.
I haven't tried since Medicare happened. I should check again.
I had my shot tho it wasn't quite as magical as the last one. On the bright side, no copay. Medicare??? SATAN? Same thing. *shrug* -
Wabbit, thanks for the laugh.
-
Wabbit, that was hilarious!

Enjoyful
Most acupuncturists I've ever known have had a "sliding scale" for payment, also barter, Time Banks, exchange of work - really - just TRY IT...Blue is agreeing with me....
Belinda - that pic of carol burnett is fabulous - and I'd forgotten about that line...just remember how everybody in the scene was cracking up - Carol & Lucille Ball can always make me laugh.
Also LOVED the Prime of Ms. Jean Brodie - and remember how she pronounced "girls" - marvelous.
HUGS TO MARY, IG RED HEART HUGS TO MARY - oh, kids can be so oblivious....YOU ARE LOVED

-
Happy Valentines Day, Mary. We love you!!!

-
Thanks guys! It got better. I got a couple of valentines from some kids after all.

OMGosh Belinds....I would love to meet the person who does these oh so clever cartoons. The thing that makes them so devilishly funny is they are optimally the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me ( insert cartoonist's name ).
