Now who is gonna be the one to get that trampoline down?

I put a mealtloaf in the oven early just in case we lose power.

Daughter in NYC says not too much action as of yet but the storm is due to hit around 5:30.  we are staying in close contact  She worked from home today as her office is located in lower Manhattan and they have evacuated that part.

    Stay safe everyone!

Wow Michelle that is a scarey looking picture! I agree with lacey love your new Avatar!

I worry about you all who are living on the east coast I have been watching the weather channel and I can't believe how bad it looks there. I hope everyone will be able to check in to let each other know your all right! Hope your sister will be ok Lacey and your daughter too carrie!

I still have lots of minestroni soup left so I won't cook again tonight. I have a pork steak that needs to be cooked so I might cook that tomorrow and then finish up the soup by Wednesday.

    Again, be safe everyone!

DH cooked the big lima beans (dry) with pork sausage for dinner tonight.  I cooked brown rice and will make a good tossed salad.

Today was WW weigh-in and I lost another pound.  Not bad with a family get-together at my mother's house this weekend and lots of comfort food.

Hope everyone in the huge path of Sandy is safe.  Check in when you can.

PLEASE STAY SAFE, AND WARM,AND DRY. Thinking about you all and hoping this passes quickly with minimal damage.

And the idiot who didn't secure the trampoline will probably try to get it down and get electrocuted. We have humongous winds on lake Michigan too, Sandy is causing Gale warnings all the way here.

Sounded like a night for chili, so that's what I made. Big kettle full. All for just me! LOL. But, ill freeze it for later.

    Much love.

The bread was okay. Not as good as a long-fermented one, but certainly good enough to put some brie on top. Dinner was a salad with a lemon dressing, smoked salmon, brie cheese, bread, and some apples, carrots and tomatoes. A light supper but perfectly satisfactory.

Power is out all around us, but we are still lit up.

I have not had any power since 2:30 pm.  I'm at my DH's office, he has power.  I'm getting tired think we will head home to the dark.

Our power is back on, although it just flickered. The wind is really howling. I cooked early since I was afraid we'd lose power. I have one good ideas every once in a while! Had burgers (salmon, beef and veggie) and fries and roasted cauliflower. Also baked some pumpkin bread and corn bread today (from a mix :()

Can't believe they got our power back on so quickly, mustn't have been downed lines. I think transformers keep blowing.

Thanks for the compliments on the picture.  My DSIL took it Saturday along with a few other really good family pictures.   You know the drill - family that you never see until there's a funeral or wedding.  Here's a link to the album on flickr

Deb - your power went out right after ours.  I think it's hard to deal with once it gets dark.  I'm lucky my DD's power has stayed on.

Hope you all are staying safe..... South central NY is at this point pretty quiet... Winds picked up around 4 pm but have since died down... The forecast calls for things to pick up over night (hate those nightime storms... I think it goes back to tornado sirens in the middle of the night when we lived in MN)!!!

    Kay,

    Glad your power is back!

Lucked into a couple of battery operated lanterns that had just come into a store today and luckily I had the 'D' batteries to use them (there is not a D battery to be had here!) so if we lose power we hopefully won't be tripping over each other...

Michelle, What a lovely family you are. So darn attractive! Clearly there are some good genes in there, and great taste in clothing. Thank you for sharing. Your new hairstyle looks terrific.

Bedo lives in an area that is getting hit pretty hard. Hope she is doing well.

Our winds have suddenly died down. Another storm that didn't take down our trees. _Phew_

I'm here!  We kept power but lost cable/phone and Internet and my phone had no reception.  Back on line now, it seems the worst is over and I can't believe it wasn't worse than it was.  I am thinking of staying in again tomorrow... I usually do book keeping 20 minutes from home and send the boys to my in laws but it still seems iffy.

    Hope everyone is doing ok!!

Family looks great Michelle, and I love your hair.

I am glad most every one made it through the storm pretty well. But still hoping Bedo is doing ok too. Gonna be lots of clean up. Hope most people can stay put tomorrow, things are still gonna be a mess. Much love.

Lovely family Michelle! So glad many of you still have power. Just read 6 1/2 million don't. Yikes! Carole, congratulations on your weight loss.

Chinese dinner was so so. We ended up eating in at the buffet. Poor choice for me, too many sweet items and I prefer savory spicy. Should have ordered off the menu.

We're off to visit DSIL and DBIL for a few days. My SIL is a great cook so that will be a treat. I imagine we'll work in a casino trip while we're there. Hope the force is with me!

What a mess Sandy has made.  Such an innocent name.  Laurie and Michelle, glad you rode out the storm safely.

Tonight's dinner will be a veggie lasagne with roasted eggplant and zuchini serving as noodles.  I'm thinking of making it vegetarian with no meat in the sauce.

Carole, I hope you enjoy your veggie lasagna. I find that when I make it with a variety of roasted vegetables, there is no need to have meat in the sauce at all. Congrats on your continued loss!

Hope everyone has power returned soon. We lucked out....glad we had several vulnerable trees removed last year...and no other trees in our neighborhood were felled, which was amazing given the strong winds. Am hoping we were as lucky in our NH lake neighborhood. The sun is now out and the kids are back in school here.

Michelle  great pics  Your hair is getting sooo long and I love the color.

Daughter in NYC is fine but has no internet and some of the phone service is iffy.  She says it will be the end of the week before they dry out the subway and clean out the salt from the power supply.  there were 80-100 homes on fire in Queens. she is using the time with her roommate to clean out closets and stuff they dont ever get time to do.

We had the meatloaf that i had cooked early in the day, never did lose power, though.  Lost a lot of roof tiles.  I will have to call a contractor to get those replaced before winter.

Tonight we will do leftovers to clean out refridge.  I need to go get some candy in case we get trick or treaters tonight  I think they would like chocolate, dont you think? Then all the leftovers are mine..ha ha

Carrie - it's funny you think my hair is getting long.  I've had two major haircuts in the last 3 months - it grows so fast!  And it's so curly I could do one of those flapper hairstyles - you know with the headband...lol

Carrie, glad you didn't lose power and that your daughter is safe.  My daughter is in PA and says they got off easy- she is near Philly.

Michelle, i love that your is is growing- gives me hope.  I still look like a kiwi, albeit a long haired v ersion!  b ut it sticks up all over!  lOL

Our tric or treat was on Saturday, but the darn kids left me only with a couple of mini chocolate bars!  Otherwise i had to give them all away.  My avatar is how I dress up for Halloween candy shift!  LOL

Great picture Michelle. I am very jealous of the hair. Mine was thin before BC, and it is thinner now. Never got the promised curls either. Grrrrrrr.

Moon, your daughter must be near me. We did get off easy.i am surrounded by NYC, New Jersey and Delaware. The destruction in all those places was much worse than her. My DD's school still has no power yet. They expect to by tomorrow and they expect to reopen.

Trying to use some of the CSA veggies tonight, made potato pancakes with kohlrabi instead of potatoes. It was okay, potato pancakes are definitely better. Then made carrot soup with curry. That was good.

Bedo, olly olly oxen free! Hope you're well and check in soon.
