I love your new name Scoot. Wonder how long you'll get to keep it? Maybe I'll change mine to Obamawithteethknockedout.

Remember that "I'm not a witch" Senate candidate for Delaware. She's back on Faux News.  She also told Bill Maher she wants to run for public office again.  Now there is a voice of reason.

Now there's a picture of President Obama as a pimp with Michelle as his "lady". Nice. Not racist at all, though. I'm done being evasive.

How can people be so vile?

Mary and Scoot FlippyFloop, the bigots are happy in their universe. Nothing we say or do will touch them. Use your energy for more positive things and don't waste it on idiots who don't deserve a second thought. Stick with your inteligent friends and ignore your ignorant enemies.

They have not a clue how racism works Mary. I've seen this a lot with rightwing whites...they think racism can cut both ways.  They don't understand, that the dynamic of racism requires the racist to have some sort of inherent power to perpetrate racism.  They have no concept of stereotypes and the use of to detract.

You can't explain anything that is too complicated to them....

I haven't posted in quite a while, but read almost every day, and I love all you great women!

You can't fight the ignorant or the bigots, especially when they wrap themselves in the flag and God.  They can't see how hateful and ugly they are since they have God on their side--they think.  I doubt God would approve of their racism and ugliness, but maybe I was raised with a different type of God.

I see a man, a president and a First Family who are beautiful and loving, while all they see is their color, and let's face it , they don't like it.  Who cares if Ryan and Money, sorry Romney, have lied, and lie constantly.  "They" are good Americans who want to take their "country back" from the pimp, muslim, socialist, communist, etc.  All the words they use are code words for the fact that Obama, to use Bill Maher's words, is blackety-black.

It is so amazing how they have co-opted the charge of"racism" so that they take that as a badge of honor.  Disgraceful and un-Christian.

Covertanjou, truier words were never spoken. However, I say again, we are all on the same page. We cannot influence the biogted racists and we are just wasting our precious energy trying to get through to them. They want to stay in their ignorance bubble. Let them. They are the ones who will implode when Obama is re-elected and they have four more years of the black guy!

I want President Obama to be re-elected. I fear for his and his family's safety if he is, however. There is so much hatred directed his way. I worry about how the right-wing nuts will react when he is re-elected.

I came of age in the South in the late 60's. I know what racism looks like, feels like and taste like. I have seen more racist activities and thought in the last four  years than I saw all those years before the Civil Rights Act went into effect. There are so many people (and most of them describe themselves as Christian) who cannot, will not accept the fact that a black man is in charge. Mr. Old Rich White Man does not call the shots anymore. And as for these "Christians." They probably have not read a Bible in their entire miserable lives, especiallly not Micah in the Old  Testament and Matthew in the New Testament.

Time for bed. I've spent enough energy on the force of darkness today. From now on, only on the Force of Light and Truth.

    Pleasant dreams all.

They are showing just what kind of people they are to this entire website. Let them. I'm quite sure the ugliness has lost them more respect and friends than it gained them. They deserve each other and the ugly world they inhabit.

In the meantime, ladies -- we have a President to re-elect.

    FORWARD!

    Great post at DU

67 million viewers (debates) vs 3 million viewers (Faux News).  And we wonder why Obama never mentioned the 47%

    http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021482469

    ....

Do you think Obama was going to give Romney center stage in front of 67 million people to make his apology and possibly making Obama look bad in the process? If anything Romney looks even more stupid because he had to go to Sean Hannity and bug him to let him go on his show and give the response that he never had a chance to give at the debate. Romney would have been smart to just never apologize for what he had said but now he looks even worse because he waited 17 days.

    ....

It's a chess game. Mitt may have said 'Check' during the debate but 'Check' doesn't win the game. Three days after the debate I think Obama scored the 'Checkmate'

Wow !!!  Went to work for four hours and when I get home.........just wow.  Mary---and Lassie--- accept my grateful thanks.  There are things that just shouldn't be......the Republican party -- sadly seems to deteriorate daily.

Fact checking is the only way to go............you do have to be strong enough to face and accept unvarnished truth.  I can do that.  Its called being sane and reasonable, even when it hurts.

    Something to share:

The Tea Party "True The Vote" movement and organization is being criminally
investigated by Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD). It began when Senator Barbara
Boxer (D-CA) sent a letter to True The Vote and contacted the Justice Department
about initiating an investigation into the activities of True The Vote and
    affiliates.

It should be on t.v. already as I often see ( and I did earlier ) it first there and then find the news waiting in my in-box.

Thank you Mary et al for posting about the "other" site - I have been monitoring it because frankly I think people have gone waaaaaay overboard and I am of the school that says if the mods don't want to do anything about it perhaps Homeland Security might be interested - all of it is racism at it's finest and using Christianity as a cover is beyond cynical (might be why I've stopped identifying myself as Christian) - these people are dangerous IMHO.

With apologies to Rudyard Kipling and his unforgettable poem "If":

If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
    And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

Just took a look over the gsrden fence. There is a true disconnect from reality over there. Over there Romney is truthful and Obama manipulates labor stats

    Oy.

I just want to mention one of my pet peeves. I really hate when fundamentalist Christians rave about support for israel as if only the most far right position is legitimate. There is a whole spectrum of political opinion in Israel, and the descendants of Holocaust survivors are as likely to support liberal policies as conservative. Don't tell me that an American fundamentalist Christian has more concern fot the survival of a Jewish state than the granchildren of Holocaust survivors. Sorry brief rant.

There are some wise ladies on this thread!  Cherryl and Alexandria, thank you for your thoughts and perspective.  Linda, I love "If!"

And, I love and am so proud of these patriotic women:

"To celebrate all military veterans and their families, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden are beginning a two-day nationwide tour to mark the one year anniversary of Joining Forces, their initiative to raise awareness of the sacrifices military families make every day. While everything seems to be viewed through a partisan lens these days, helping veterans and their families seems like something Democrats and Republicans can both agree is a fabulous thing to do.

The first year accomplishments - by the numbers - are impressive: more than 1,600 businesses, large and small, have hired more than 50,000 veterans and their families to date, with a pledge to hire at least 160,000 more in the next two years; more than 150 state and national nursing organizations and more than 500 nursing schools pledging at an event at my alma mater today, the University of Pennsylvania, to educate the more than three million nurses in the U.S about PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and TBI (traumatic brain injury), with one in six veterans, more than 300,000 veterans to date, suffering from these injuries; helping the 100,000 military spouses who serve in professions that require licenses to transfer their licenses across state lines (an issue we explored in-depth here at iVillage); encouraging Americans to donate more than 13 million hours of volunteer service to military families and getting nationally recognized organizations from Major League Baseball to Disney to NASCAR to take on the cause."
