I just read the funniest thing. It seems Paul Ryan isn't a birther and he's trying to rehab some of those in his party.
"But unlike some in his party who have been embarrassed by their own clunky and awkward responses to the birthers, Ryan has come up with an easy solution to deal with them.
He simply sends them a copy of the president’s birth certificate."

Post Convention Pre Election move to the middle. Seems both Ryan and Romney have caught the fever.
-
Momine, that is frightening.
-
River Rat, whatever do you mean?
We have several good friends who are Jewish and hard right. They can barely keep a straight face when talking about the wonderful support from these kinds of Evangelicals. -
LOL that IS funny, the Moderators asking women posting on THIS THREAD to "restrain themselves" from derogatory comments. Guess they mean "please don't show photos or cartoons of anyone being assasinated?
As I don't read other threads on BCO, don't know what many of you have seen, but still SO STUNNED that Lassie was told NOT TO REPORT something - how rarely she must have reported in the past - and all of a sudden, given what the women who post on THIS THREAD have endured, to have someone be told NOT TO REPORT....
WOW. Just WOW. Don't want to use the word "obvious" cuz that would make me look, ah, "unkind" and get me banned, but really...really?
I think there are some wonderful women posting on this thread, and I'm glad a few of you have my personal email.
-
Mods-How about giving me back my PM ability? I can't even PM you to ask.....if the pictures were considered distastful and are now gone, I believe my point about them was valid and certainly not worth the loss of my privileges.

I just want to mention one of my pet peeves. I really hate when fundamentalist Christians rave about support for israel as if only the most far right position is legitimate.
Ditto Alexandria....I was accused of being an anti-semite over there for disputing their "facts" about which side was taking the major brunt of casualties. As you said, in Israel, there is more of a range of opinions about the Israeli Palestinian conflict and those opinions are measured by reality and a humanitarian desire for a true peace, not this Christian fundamentalist need for Israel to fufill their prophecy.
-
Mary - something isn't right; is this a software glitch? If you report, you automatically lose privledges? Last time, I lost privledges for being reported. Confusing. That first picture of our POTUS beatan up was ok, apparently, as it wasn't taken down until I posted the one accompanying Romney using that KKK slogan? My picture didn't deface Romney, nor is he POTUS. The picture accompanied the article. Honestly, I don't understand the disparity in treatment of these photos and posters.

Linda...I very much love that poem as well. It is an extremely difficult thing to be VERY gracious when heavy distortion, flip-flopping and lies are going on.........especially when their are VERY reputable fact checkers in place so that confusions can be rectified. JMHO but I think that is why after a while there becomes a point at which it is hard to see what you love and care about mocked and denigrated so much. I commend those who can respect and even love their fellow man so to speak be they white, black, oriental, Muslim, Jewish and all the other combinations. It is a lot of miles to walk in someone else's shoes....but we have to try. If I have offended ( and I'm sure I have at some point ) it is with information that has been for the most most verified. Hopefully if is has not I have said so or something to the effect that I'm presenting what I personally see or feel.
I too wish to thank the Mods. I'm sure I could not keep my head about me if I had to do what they do all the time. We, as well as all who 'embrace' BC. Org are fortunate --- if sometimes annoyed, that someone is there to cool things down.
That being said.....I never got around to saying/agreeing with the post here that spoke about the differences between Mitt Romney and his Dad. We would have so little to discuss -- and might even have to use one or more of the debates to make up our minds if that were the case. It is too bad but Mitty is a total chameleon who has single handedely destroyed any trust you could have. That is his fault and his alone. To me it appears that he didn't have the guts to continue to stand up for what he believed. The questions we all have are not multiple choice. He did not and could not seem to choose a path and stay on it. Just my opinion but though there are many things ...... that one item may well be the one that spells THE END at election time.
It is gorgeous out of my office ( at home ) window today. We often get deer wandering through the yard munching on acorns this time of year which makes the transition of the season something to really look forward to all the time. Leaves are turning and the red and yellows can set your mood to thoughts of mother nature getting ready to rest for while. Have a marvelous Sunday. I'll be back later I'm sure.

I'm not in the mood to thank the mods. Sorry.

Seems to me that if Israel has a God-given destiny, no actions for or against it would make a bit of difference to God.
Good morning, all! I am celebrating this enjoyful Sunday by visiting my horsey boy. I am grateful to be alive, happy to have only limited mets, and thankful for Faslodex even though it's kicking my butt.
Our family's Outer Banks reunion is just one week away. Life is good!
FlippyFlopEnJoyful -
Mary....understood. Hope they will address the problem and repair. Quickly.

Kam-I don't know how "automatic" it is, but I'm sure it can be overridden manually if the mods permitted it. Yes, it was because I reported.

I personally experienced fundamentalists attitudes towards Jews, and i realize that their support of Israel comes from the belief that Israel plays a role in end times at which point jews will convert or be damned. I personally am surprised at jews willing to get into bed with those who hold beliefs so similar to those who persecuted our people for two thousand years.
-
Oh Flippyflop - I LOVE the Outerbanks - you'll have such a good time - give horsey boy a pat for me and OS (I'm heading over there today for Thanksgiving). Oh yes, had my first "date" in 40 years last night - interesting!
-
Mary, you should be able to PM.....
-
Well well well. Happy Sunday to everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends. I am thankful you are here and very thankful that some U.S. bad apples have not made you think less of us or give up on us.
O Canada!
L -
And Alexandria, I completely agree with you. I have always found that particular bit of cognitive dissonance utterly incomprehensible -- the fundies don't support Israel for the Jews (in my experience, many don't even like Jews, as exemplified in some of their rhetoric). They want Israel to continue to exist for their prophecies, not the Jewish people. Smh.
L -
I can PM now, but I'm guessing it's still limited since I still can't report posts. Since I "abused" that function, you know. <eyeroll> Whatever.
Haters are going to be exposed for what they are no matter what I do.
Mary
-
Alexandria, that is, of course, the deep irony. As far as I can gather the main idea is that the end times, pro-Israel fundies are considered useful idiots.

Mary
Once again

Is today the Canadian Thanksgiving? That must be why I decided to bake a turkey breast today ... in your honor. Happy Thanksgiving!!

Is a must see exchange between Bill O'Reilly and Jon Steward.
Here are some of my favorite lines:
My friend Bill O'Reilly lives in a place I like to call bullshit mountain....he is completely full of shit. The country faces problems, ... and has in the past. We face a deficiency in our problem-solving mechanism. On bullshit mountain, they have created an alternative universe..where the issues that we face is that a woman wanted birth control, which is a health issue for women, by her health insurance the same way Viagra is, will ruin America. The denizens of bullshit mountain believe that a Kenyan-Muslim president has fundamentally changed the country...bullshit mountain is a dangerous place....The winters are long and cold, and Xmas is under threat in bullshit mountain because a parade in Tulsa has changed its Xmas Parade to the Holiday Parade.... we can agree on a reality that exists in this country....bullshit mountain believes that the way to solve the debt crisis is to kill Big Bird.
There is much more, but I can't type anymore. Watch the video and see Bill O'Reilly represent the citizens of bullshit mountain.
-
covert - I watched it this a.m.
Many thought-provoking moments, with some humour thrown in to keep things lively! One part was especially interesting, regarding healthcare. O'Reilly still supported insurance companies (natch) while Stewart supports single-payer, thus eliminating health insurance through one's employer (he got big cheers for that!!).
O'Reilly said the government couldn't possibly manage healthcare, and of course made some egregious remarks about Cdn and British healthcare. Stewart asked him why the government can manage the largest military complex in the world. O'Reilly said -- because they've had umpteen years of experience. Stewart then asked why some of that vast experience couldn't be applied to managing universal healthcare. No answer!!

Happy Thanksgiving.
-
Thanks HL and Rosemary! We hold our Thanksgiving on a Monday to ensure a long weekend for everyone. I've always wondered about your Thursday -- IOW, do most people take the following Friday off work as well, so as to make it a really long holiday?
-
Linda-many, but not all people get the day after Thanksgiving off. It's not part of the national holiday, but some employers consider it a holiday. Schools are closed the day after Thanksgiving, but banks are not, neither is the post office. My husband usually takes it off but he has to use a vacation day.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!

Federal government does not give Friday after Thanksgiving as a holiday, but oddly enough, tomorrow is one! Columbus Day. I love Columbus Day - the most beautiful time of the year and there's something about having a day off when the world is business as usual.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians. I had a nice invitation from my cousins in Victoria this year. I told them next year I will be up there for Canadian Thanksgiving!
-
Oh, I forgot about Columbus Day! That's why there are so many U.S. cars in town, and why my American neighbours have weekend guests! Hah!Kam -- Next year in Canada! Food will be the same, although we're not big on marshmallowed yams
