This is the best anecdote for a progressive tax rate structure that I've heard. When Romney's dad, George Romney, was the head of American Motors, the tax rate for income earned above $1 million was 90%. George said, give me the $1 million, no more, and let the company invest what I would have earned back into the company, instead of me getting just 10% of that. This is really the only way "trickle down" works. Obviously George was quite happy with his million dollar salary, but if he could have had a cool million more at 35% taxation rate, he might have taken it...put it in his personal bank account...and nary a dollar of it would have ever been put to work, hiring workers, etc..
On that sadistic picture......this is just the sort of hypocrisy one sees from those that claim flagpins represent patriotism. They can wear some inanimate object and claim to be patriotic Americans because of it while desecrating the office of the POTUS.

That is disgusting, HL, but not the least bit surprising.

River_Rat - I have a free account at photobucket.com I can drag and drop photos from my personal files there and then I use one of their links by double-clicking on the photo at photobucket, once its upload from my personal files. I think the link I use at photobucket.com is the second one in the list of four. I copy that link into the the menu box provided by BCO (get to that menu by double clicking on the icon that looks like a tree and putting that photobucket link in the URL box ). You can resize it at this point.

Well, Kam, Robme's father had integrity. He was a decent man. It's a pity his spawn is a sociopath.
L -
I remember my liberal mother respected George Romney...can't remember why, but she did.
-
Kam, thanks. I think my problem was I was trying to copy a picture from somebody else's album and they have it copy protected. I was doing it the way you described and it wasn't working so that's all I can figure.
-
Kam, George Romney was a man of integrity. When running for President, he turned over 12 years of tax returns. He was compassionate, respectful of others. Apparently these qualities were not passed on to Willard.
-

Yep. Don't mess with the bird.
-
Although, this is pretty much what he plans to do to the nation:

Well it works now so I must have grabbed the wrong code before.

The markets were absolutely packed and this was just before 7 am - everyone getting in early before the heat hits - I could feel it when I was coming home. Just washed a couple of floors and will now do nothing else all day except for maybe a leisurely swim.
Gave Steve's helmet the cable tie treatment, but didn't use as many.

It is nice to know what type of picture is acceptable here.

To those of you who are sending me kind, supportive PM's-please know that I am getting them but I cannot respond, due to my daily limit.
Thanks,

Thanks, Bartender. That makes me a little teary. *sniff*

Mary, I didn't send you a PM because I didn't know if you could even get them. So let me say right here that I am very supportive of what you tried to address. I am having trouble believing what is considered acceptable here.

Thanks, RiverRat-me too.

Wow, have been away from the computer since late yesterday afternoon. The thread moves quickly. I know I shouldn't read (or post elsewhere), but yesterday I just had to chime in over there and correct a blatant lie. I feel like though, maybe we are being "punked"......(wishful thinking!) I mean, really......people really believe that Malcolm X is Obama's real father and that the clothing the First Family wore on election night was full of sinister symbolism????? The tragic thing is, we are not being punked. People really believe the most outrageous things!!!!
Love all the Big Bird cartoons!

-
OMG!!! Can you believe Romney's latest still ad? OMG!!!!

Ok......that is a fake photo! It was photoshopped. I know, I know......can you believe that every single thing on the internet is not true?????
Just wanted to prove a point

Read this article on Joe Biden last month in New York Magazine. It's pretty good:
-
Mary
I knew you had a PM limit but I want you to know I love and support you and wow just wow.
-
Yep. It takes a Democrat to clean up a Republican's mess. It took Bill Clinton 8 years to clean up 12 years of Republican destruction. Barack Obama has done a good job so far in cleaning up the massive devastation caused by Bush. The country ought to be pretty well on the right path at the end of President Obama's second term.

Mitt Romney’s go-to campaign slogan “Keep America American” was a slogan used by the KKK in the 1920s! According to the Huffington Post, the KKK used the slogan to try to rally White supremacists to initiate violence and intimidation against African-Americans, as well as Catholics, gay people, and Jews.
Now isn't the great wizard businessman aware of slogans? Hmmm More dog whistleblowing.
-
Mary and Lassie, you rock for doing the right thing. You absolutely rock and it was absolutely the right thing. Don't give up doing the right thing!
L
-
Belinda-thank you for all those facts and all those source references.
Kam-Romney's slogan differs slightly-it's "Keep America America", but seems close enough. Can you imagine if President Obama had a slogan similar to a hate group's slogan?? Wait...he doesn't have to. He already has people making up stories about him and photoshopping pictures of him covering his heart with the wrong hand when saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mary
-
Belinda, your research is awesome. However, sadly, it is preaching to the choir. Those of us who support the President know this and try to get the word out. The opposition will NEVER acknowledge that he has done anything at all. They are woefully ignorant of his accomplishments and with to remain so. They will deny anything positive coming out of this Administration as lies. And when lies of Willard are exposed, they cry liar, liar. They live in their own world and reality has no place in it.
Lassie and Mary, good work. Carry on!
-
Cherryl....I know, you're right. But for any "on the fence" lurkers who read, just want to provide some info for consideration.
