I hope everyone here has a great day!

To Kathy Bates, with healing love: TOWANDA

Alexandria - Happy Vt. should have good weather for the next few days, hope you get good news on interview when you return.
BREN - a lot of you has disappeared - WOW, just WOW...gorgeousness...
-
Bren, you look amazing. Keep up the good work!!
I too love Kathy Bates and her attitude.
-
Go Kathy.......she has done several movies that I really like.....I think one of my all time favorites--Misery is stepping on its heels though, is Delores Clairborne. She had such attitude in that movie and anytime I hear her name.....I'm right back there.
Rain here today but not for too long I don't think.....done by time I leave for work @ 10:30 I would imagine. It will help keep our re-greened lawns looking like the summer we didn't have so ok by me.
Hope Friday is fantastic..for everyone.
Jackie

Hi Everyone!
Thanks for all the lovely words. I sure do love my buddy Naniam. We always have such a great time together. If you guys ever have a chance to get together with each other, you've got to try really hard to make it happen. There is so much love between us.
I'm missing my Canada girlfriends too. Sure hope we can get together again next year. My roommate, Barbara, was so much fun!
Kad2kar ... Happy Belated Birthday! Mine is on Monday. We Virgo's rock!
Hope everyone has a great day,
Bren
PS. I love Kathy Bates too! Great actress. Did you guys see Fried Green Tomatoes?
-
Loved Fried Green Tomatoes and loved Harry's Law - hate that it was cancelled - it was one of the better shows on TV BUT males 18-49 didn't watch (like I care!!!) Go Kathy!
-
Bren....I am Virgo as well. Had my birthday yesterday. Born in 1945 on a Friday. Had a running joke with Mom about who got the "luck" from that day. I also loved Fried Green Tomatoes.
Jackie
-
Jackie .. Happy Birthday to you ... happy birthday to you ... happy birthday to you ... and many more!
That was my attempt at singing for you!
We need a party this month for all the Virgo's, with special drinks from the bartender.
hugs,
Bren

Looks like my school switch is going to happen! I'm not sure what day, though, it has to perk through HR. I haven't said anything to the teacher I'm working with at my 2nd school yet because I haven't seen it officially on paper. I know she's not going to take it very well. But the sooner it happens the better so she can start working with her new teammate, whoever that is. HR will probably plug someone in who got laid off at the end of last year.
We are having a beautiful stretch of weather here in Seattle. It's certainly making up for the crappy spring we had. It looks like our temps will be in the upper 70's all through next week. I'm not ready to wear socks and shoes yet-I'm still in sandal mode.

Here in KS we had a high in the 60's yesterday, WOW! Next few days will be in the 70's! Such a blessing after the hell of this summer.
Happy birthday Jackie!
And happy Friday to everybody!!
-
Just had to add a funny: the latest ailment is a heart attack (either that or a heart ache). Yeah, I looked, but did not comment. Yay me!
-
Happy birthday, Jackie!
-
I have a headache today. Must be Obama's fault!
-
What else could it be??
(Hope your back is not making you suffer too much, Blue).
ETA: Bren - lovely pictures. I finally saw them properly - thanks to the mods for sizing them.
-
Blue, take a tax cut call us in the morning
-
Blue .. so sorry to hear you have a headache today. When is your CT scan scheduled?
Sunnyflowers ... you crack me up!
Athena ... glad you could finally see the pictures. My thanks to the mods for resizing them!
I'm having a good day ... had three reports come in. Yay! I love my job.
hugs to all,
Bren
-
Yorkie - not a heart attack but the loss of a loved one
We still haven't had any rain - over a month now - cross your fingers we get some soon.
-
Bren, had my CT scan on the 11th. Suffice it to say. it's a mess.
Going to see the pain clinic on Tuesday.
-
Blue - OH shoot...what does "a mess" mean - fingers crossed it's all "fixable." Is that why the "headache" - or have you made the mistake of watching the news...not a good idea...this is all so, SO, SO, SO, sad, just sad. But, in a strange way, understandable - these are societies that CAN NOT IMAGINE anyone saying/filming/publishing anything without the "consent" of the government. Hillary spoke SO ELOQUENTLY trying to explain this - my heart just breaks for all those trying to figure this out.
Bren congrats on MORE WORK! Great, great news. Hope it keeps up.
Blue - lots of GOOD THOUGHTS going up to you, so, SO, frustrating to have to be dealing with all this, when we all know you SHOULD be wedding thinking....gentle hugs.
-
I'll be OK...........No worries.
Ya my headache is from reading where I shouldn't. Statements are taken out of context and everything is Obama's fault. Some people just make me giggle. Lock and load everybody! The Zombie Apocalypse will be soon upon us!
-

I go "there" for a laugh Blue. It is bittersweet though, as I understand this sort of Palinesque view of the world really does exist. Let's just hope it stays in that 30% minority. The images above have been widely reported, but I thought it was worth seeing. We must remember, it was another small minority that commited this violence against our Ambassador and coworkers.
-
Thank-you for posting the pictures. The media gets so wrapped up in reporting "news" that people all over the world have begun believing the worst about everyone else in the world. I remember when Mt St. Helens erupted. To listen to the media, you would have thought that the entire state was devastated - though it was a major disaster, much of Washington suffered no effect at all. I wish the media would stop making the news and go back to reporting it!!
-
I know Kam. They work themselves up to a frenzy because they cannot look at the entire picture. Oh and the zombie apocalypse will be Obama's fault too. Wait and see. How can anyone hate that much.
-
It must be nice to be unencubered by the thought process.
Not aimed at anyone in particular, of course.
-
It's nice to see the pics of Muslims showing their view of the terrorists. I hope there is more reporting on that. The world needs to see it. I really kind of like most my American neighbours. (notice the Canadian spelling!)
-
Love you too, PiP! I have seen a lot of the pictures of Libyans (and others) holding signs that say how sorry they are about the murders of Ambassador Stevens and the other diplomatic staffers. One thing you don't see reported much is that 10 Libyan security personnel died trying to protect the Americans. It made me cry -- our guards always try to protect us and often lose their lives doing it.
NBC Nightly and PBS reported on the demonstrations and -- fairly -- reported that, while they look bad, most of them are small, just a couple hundred people or less. Most of the Muslim world is quiet, and most understand the constraints under which the US Government operates.

Priceless comment, rosemary!
-
Just saw the tampons "message" to our left - what were we supposed to do - go back to maxipads??
Why isn't bc treatment or advice ever reasonable?! It's slash, burn, poison or bleed (stain). Really. How about a tx or preventive measure that works, for one.
ETA: Message in question is the new Marissa Weiss blog announcement.
Sick of stupid bc advice. Meanwhile, one sister who worked so, so hard to fight bc (AnacortesGirl) has just gone from stage III to stage IV - pisses me off no end.
Rant over - for now.
-
A couple of things that many North Americans don't think about when hearing of the current unrest -- firstly, for the vast majority of Muslims in the ME and Africa, their religion is more important to them than almost anything else. It truly rules their lives. And secondly, living in countries where the government controls everything they see, hear or do, they have absolutely no concept of "freedom of speech".
So, is it any wonder that they would assume that something such as this "film" that constitutes blasphemy of their religion, that comes out of the U.S. (or any other western country such as Denmark -- remember the cartoons?) must surely have the imprimatur of the U.S. government.
It's incredibly sad that both Americans and Libyans lost their lives. Some reports suggest that this attack was a plan "waiting to happen" by one particular militant faction, aided and abetted by Pastor Jones and others. I think we probably currently know less than 5% of just how this whole thing came about.
Athena -- what message? Surely not the old wives' tale about tampons being toxic?????
-
Yes, Lindasa. That very one. You may not see it at first because the ads change.
And you are dead on about people's perceptions of government in other parts of the world. Americans (or people from democracies, including Canadians) often do not understand that. Many people who no history of a democracy, or a weak history of one, or a history of authoritarian government, are accustomed to the government co-opting much of their lives. They have no way of uinderstanding how disjointed messaging can be in free speech countries. It's really an alien concept.
However, it's also embarrassing to be American when we export trash like that. It's bad enough that we have the Kardashians!
