I've had a very long day. Had my CT scan in the a.m., then blood work and my oncology appointment in the afternoon. Onc says the tumor in my lung has shrunk about 50% since my July scan. I love hearing shrinkage! It is good. Since the doxil is working, I will be able to continue with it. I get it only once a month, am tired for maybe a week, few problems with the feet, sometimes the big D and sometimes the big C but a powerful chemo that is doing good stuff without a lot of SE's. I'm so excited.



Have taken all my night pills and am hoping for a good night's sleep since the scanxiety is gone!!



I do try to stay away from political conversations since many of my closest friends disagree with my stance but .... I did come to this thread when I realized that so many posters had beliefs similar to mine. I felt a true kinship with BC survivors AND women who felt the same way I feel on many issues. I promise to try to be totally respectful with any remarks I make and I promise to stay away from threads where I know that my opinion is in the minority.



Meanwhile, I celebrate a great CT scan and a feeling that yes, I can keep on trucking!

I stay on this thread because of like-minded women. Not just about breast cancer or brussel sprouts, but basic values and yes, politics. Not to say I agree with every one all the time, but with my friends here we can share our feelings as though we were in each other's living rooms.

I don't want to be apolitical, or areligious, a-whatever. Most of the time we can manage just fine with our views, till the people who don't much like us barge in. Those we are learning to deal with by blocking, finally.

Finally had rain today, the first in about 2 months. Snow on Pike's Peak. I am so not ready for winter yet!! This early darkness makes me want to up the Zoloft!!

Great news Glenna!!

I didn't invent the cable tie idea - everyone here uses them - trouble is the magpies are learning to not be so alarmed about them - saw a pic of a guy being attacked in spite of using them. Another trick is to put a picture of eyes on the back of your helmet and the birds think you are looking at them - found a website where you could download a pic to print. I might do that as well.

Good Morning!

I'm on my way to North Carolina today to visit with Naniam (Brenda).  I can't wait to see her.  It's a 2 1/2 hour drive so I set the alarm for 7 a.m. this morning.  The only problem was the alarm went off at 5 a.m.  I don't know how I messed up such a simple thing as setting the alarm!  Brenda and I met here on BCO over five years ago and have been best friends ever since.  She usually posts on the Stage IV thread.

Glenna ... I am so happy for you.  I read your wonderful news first thing this morning.  A 50% reduction in tumor size is fabulous!

Susie ... Your bike helmet cracks me up!

I've been missing Blue lately, and wondering when her CT scan is scheduled.  I know it's this month, just can't remember the day.

Bren...hope you have a really enjoyable time in N. Carolina.  It is wonderful to meet someone whom you reasonate with almost perfectly....just sad because of the reason why.  That being said....I'm not a true believer that there are random acts --- and so maybe part of the compensation attached to what is a 'negative' situation is the beauty of finding others who we can connect with on a deep level.    I find this to be true for me.....if I'm willing to look, so many positive things find their way of the negative ones.

I don't know Cheryl well as yet, but I too am surprised that so soon their is another post removal.  I think long ago someone mentioned.....if something is removed it would be nice to have a rule# at least or a reason why.

Huge congratulations, Glenna - shrinkage is wonderful (unless it's laundry, of course).... 

Susie - loved the helmet.  Magpies and crows are such brilliant birds, though.  It doesn't surprise me that they're already figuring out that you aren't really a moving porcupine.

We're spending the weekend wallpapering, I think.  I still have some to remove from my sewing room, prior to re-papering, but we've got a couple of other walls to do as well.  Though hubby may choose to wait until we can do all in one swell foop.  He (hubby) went fishing yesterday with his brother and they caught their limit, so I think I'm going to do some pickled salmon this weekend as well.  

We skittered around a bit too long for our vacation in Hawaii this year, so won't have a car for the entire time - we simply cannot bring ourselves to spend $200/day for a rental.  Fortunately, the condo is not far from town, so we'll just do a lot of walking during the times when no car is available.

Hi Glenna - I'm new to this thread so haven't caught up with everyone's current dx, though we seem to have so many other things to discuss (and isn't it great to take our minds of BC, even while on BCO, if that is even possible!).  I can imagine how ecsatitc you must be after waiting for the result.  I hope you have many more good pieces of news down the line.  xxo kam

gardengumby = YOUR SEWING ROOM...ooohh, now I'm really jealous!  I just bought my first sewing machine, a Janome S500, hoping to get friends to help me - I live in a very small space, so ight now it's on the floor, as my work table is filled with watercolor paint palets - so good to be "retired" -

Really hope you find a fishable place on this side of the Big Ocean ( as opposed to the other ocean know to many as The Pond)

Good morning everyone! 

Cherryl deleted? Will wonders never cease? Can't even imagine what our bartender would have said to get herself deleted.

Many of you know that I have worked in 2 separate elementary schools for the past year-not voluntarily, but I had to do it to keep my job. There is a chance that I may get to return to being in 1 school only. HR is working on it as we speak. Fingers crossed....I would have to give up my 1/2 hour of travel pay, but it's so worth it. The 1 school I'm hoping to be at is so close to my home, I can walk to work. No more worrying about making sure my old car works, no more worrying about getting to work in bad weather...I so hope it works out. I'm afraid to get my hopes up.

The other reason I'm hoping for a move is that the teacher I work with at my 2nd building is kind of a depressive type. I'm finding that I'm being a cheerleader much of the time-"Don't worry-we can do it!" type stuff. It's kind of tiring. I'm sure if I do stay there, her attitude will get better as she gains confindence.

I love you guys-I can come here and talk about things that I can't talk about anywhere else!

Thank you all for your congratulations! I did have a great night's sleep and am feeling wonderful today, even though this is my "tired" week after chemo. Son and his family are coming over this evening to celebrate my granddaughter's 5th birthday. Ordering out pizza and buying an ice cream cake. Can't believe I used to have the energy to make pizza from scratch .... but I do love doing things the easy way.



Can't take my eyes off the news this morning and all that is going on in the middle east.

There is no sisterly love, so I would have said scram!  This should be embarassing to say, but I've decided to own it after 40 or 50 years.  I've gone to that "Rate My Teacher" site and I'm glad to see the students experience her just as I did, being 5 years younger, sad to say, for the students.

I hope it works out for you Mary.  Teaching takes so much energy and I can see it can be either a really positive or negative environment depending on coworkers, administration and even students.

On current events...I sure wish the opposition would just shut up. This is not a time to be partisan.   Didn't we learn that lesson post 911? I thought so.

Momine -I labeled the murderers of Amabassor Stevens as "zeolot thugs" as we don't know who they were, really. There was a mob protesting the film, but this second mob came along with RPGs, as if waiting for an opportunity.  I've been spending a lot of mental energy scribbling around the dots on this one.  I think of Carter/Reagan/election/hostages and the recent revelation that Nixon was interfering with the Vietnam Peace Talks before his election.  It's hard to not be suspicious.
