I drink my coffee too!
They really had to dig hard if all they could complain about was Scoot's tagline.
-
HL
I know how hard it is not to try to help - when from experience we know what might be able to help. But there is a mentality, that just can't hear anything but a certain way of approaching bc. Tragic - I still remember reading David Servan Schrieber ( sp?) book Anti Cancer and learning so much about complimentary treatments. But even he acknowledges that it IS complimentary - not excluding.
When that thread went to "us" and "them" - shortly after attacking scoot's tagline - you know it's a real brick wall. tragic, but not much anyone can do about it....
-
Yep, Sunflowers -- that's why I posted my sister's story here. It is out there to read should anyone look. You can't fix people who are hellbent on destruction!
-
Sunflowers .. I was just thinking the same thing. It's a shame there is an 'us' versus 'them' mentality over there. The full-on attack of Scoot was just plain ridiculous. I hope that someone with advanced cancer and ILC would really listen to their oncologist. There is no alternative treatment that cures cancer. There is no cure for our disease.
Thinking you can cure those mutant cells with 'curcumin' and 'coffee enemas' is just sad.
I've given up trying to get any real information from the alternative forum. We tried to discuss the 60 minutes segment on sugar last night, but that fell by the wayside with all the contentiousness going on.
Dinner is ready! Mr. Tim made burgers. Yum.
hugs to all,
Bren

Well, they attacked me because, in their minds, I attacked them. That wasn't my purpose but what are you gonna do? People react the way they do.
-
We can only try - but it's getting harder
-
Small rant coming - once I finish dinner.
-
Rant over. Thank you for listening. :-)
One final aside: At least when we in this thread talk about politics we say so upfront.
-
Everybody's feelings are valid, and right now, mine are:

I take me and my perpetuating of bunkum to an early bedtime tonight.
Lindasa: I have a sister who can't even see a picture of a snake in a book - that's how much she hates them. I like them a lot, but that's just me.
See you all later, alligators.
HL, My sympathies again for what your sister went through. Makes one so angry with the hospital.
-
I really did ask a legitimate question about sugar. The answer was "HERE THEY COME..."
-
I saw that, Ang7. There was also a very vicious, "Go away, we don't want you here."(pretty much those exact words) on the thread about black salve. I don't know why there can not be reasonable discussion on those threads. Anyone questioning, or disputing is instantly the enemy.

Ang, I thought that was directed at me and my comment?
-
Scoot~
Seeing who it was from I thought it was directed at me. I will gladly be lumped together with you.

-
Scoot - I slapped them back.
-
I think we've seen the author of "HERE THEY COME !!!" before.
-
New names, old friends.
-
Thank you, SusieQ! No matter what I say, someone will be offended. Some are offended by my very existence. It's okay - it's just human nature.
Have no idea why I'm so happy today. Cleaned out my savings and signed up for some debt to replace my aging furnace, water heater, and whole-house A/C unit. The joys of homeowner-ship. *headdesk*
Happppppy Tuessssday!
-
I think my homeowner ship is sinking. Bwahahahaha!
-
Ladies, I'm so sorry that some on the alternative threads are so aggressive. It really spoils it for those of us who genuinely want to explore all options. If only they realised how much it ruins their credibility. I guess it's just human nature. I trust you don't lump us all in the same basket. I keep an open mind and like to consider all options without bias.
As far as ILC goes, more and more studies, and a review of many studies, show that there is only a difference of about 1% in 5 year Overall Survival between those given chemo followed by hormonal, and those given hormonal only. I hope it's not too long before the 10 year review is published. This needs to be settled so people can make a better informed choice. Meanwhile MO's will keep recommending chemo till the verdict is in.

What a nice attitude to display toward fellow members of a cancer support board.

Are you by any chance refering to people jumping into discussions of alternative treatments and insisting insisting that posters on an alternative thread have to do chemo? The sentiment works in both directions.
-
Joy, I always enjoy your thoughtful posts - nice to see you here.
-
Joy, I second what Athena said. I have learned a lot from you...
-
Same here, Joy! Thank you for being so welcoming on the Alternative thread. :-)
-
In years past I got a lot of information about supplements and other things from the women ... Fancy comes to mind for one ... on those forums. I think a lot of us have an interest in what is out there in the Alternative Medicine world. But I don't go there anymore ... a few are so immediately hostile and downright rude unless you are willing to automatically agree with and buy in to each and every thing out there. It's more like a room full of hard sell salesmen than a discussion. Which is too bad IMO.
And Joy ... from what I've seen you try very hard to do the 'discussion' thing and look at all sides of things. We need to clone you
-
Scoot ... sorry you got hit with the homeowners hammer of fund depletion. We've been there with the new roof, furnace, A/C, new patio doors and now tree removal over the past few years. And then hubby says he thinks he wants to downsize and move. I'm going 'nope bozo' we are not moving into a different house and starting all over with that stuff!
Our tree was taken down yesterday so now we will be out tree shopping for a replacement. It was sad to see it go but at least we do have a nice view even without it.
Athena ... got a giggle out of your rant

Hope everybody has a good day!
-
Wabbit, your avatars just get better and better.
-
Thanks to all for your encouragement. Since conventional medicine doesn't have all the answers, we should really keep an open mind about other ideas. I'm sure those angry women must have a sweet disposition deep down. I'd love to coax it out of them.
-
Athena ... thank you! I picked my user name because the song White Rabbit is my favorite. And then I got to googling and found out there are a lot of cute ... or cutesy, depending on your point of view ... pictures of white rabbits. I just have some fun playing with them.
-
WhiteRabbit....Fancy helped me a lot too. Also got me in touch with Edge. Wonderful lady she was.
-
Good Afternoon Friends,
Just got back from getting a steroid shot for my allergies. Sure hope it works. The good news is I'm down another 5 lbs.
Joy ... Welcome .. it's lovely to see you here. I read your posts and love what you have to say.
Gracie .. I remember Fancy too. Edge has helped me a lot in the past as well.
Athena .. I do believe you're onto something. Hadn't thought of old friends in some time.
Scoot .. Sorry your home is costing you so much right now. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with all the responsibility and wish I was renting a little condo somewhere. But then I'd miss all this land and privacy I have. So it's a catch-22.
Hugs to everyone,
Bren
