Oh, Marybe, I just had to laught about your sister...sorry...sorry...sorry !!
My younger brother also had a 'holiday', at Her Majesties pleasure !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, he was a real little prize sh*t. He is 16 years younger than me, and about 3 months after he was born the whole family moved. As I always seemed to get the nursemaid duties...my mother worked a lot...it quickly became the local gossip that this child was mine, and we'd had to move because of this !!!!!! Thank the lord he wasn't !!!!
He got involved in escort girls...had 3 of them working in his little empire....then some sort of fraud, we never did find out what he'd been up to...and he was locked away for about a year. Silly me used to drive off to see him quite regularly in prison, WHAT an eyeopener ! He came out, had no-where to live, again silly me said he could stay with me a while...which turned out to be not so long, but he asked for a loan to start up buying and selling cars. I was stupid enough to help him out again. He came to me for a second loan. By now I had seen the light and refused him. He went stomping off slamming and bashing everything he could as he left, and I thought that was that. Wrong.
I do the accounts for my mother, because no-one else will...I don't want to either, but there it is. I have charge of her accounts, pay her nursing home bills each month, and buy her clothes, and do all her correspondence. Her bank statement came in. There was £8,000 ( approx $12,500 ) missing. My darling brother had gone to the nursing home, taken his mother out...tho' how I don't know...marched her into the bank, where she was known, and had her sign this money out. I would guess he had had to find a wheelchair from somewhere, but a little thing like that wouldn't be a trouble to DB ! I was the only one legally to be able to touch her accounts...so I thought. I got a solicitor onto it straight away. DB wrote to say how sorry he was for taking this 'short term loan' and he would be paying back 'very, very soon'. That was 9 years ago. Solicitor advised me to 'just wait 'til DB does as he says he will, I'm sure he WILL pay back' She didn't know DB as I did !! I didn't want to waste my mothers cash on court cases...so I am still waiting!!!
DB is now on his 3rd Thai wife ( he's been divorced by 2 English girls ) he just flits over to Thailand and gets another when it all goes wrong !!! He is mixed up with growing canabis...he did ask me years ago if I would be interested in this, as I live in a fairly isolated spot !!! He asked me this while he was in prison !! A real little bad egg this one !! He has one son, who I am in regular touch with, a real nice young chap, not at all like his father. So, that's my little bit of colourful family history...anyone else ????

OK....bad day here...winds around 80mph, so TV tells me, sideways rain, so I'm off to the 'end of sale' sales in a reasonably local shopping outlet. Don't want anything, but also don't want to sit around grumping about the weather ! I suppose I can look out for b/day presents...3 b/days coming up fast !
We've just had a h*ll of a hail storm, it's all piled up on the lawns, now there's a beautiful rainbow, what a mixed bag today. I am frozen before I set out.
Still waiting for DD to come up with my car mirror...she tells me she has it, but keeps forgetting to bring it...I could get very angry with her. I am having to back off exploding at her, she was burgled the day after Boxing Day. 7.30am. She heard what she thought was someone on the street breaking glass, then muffled noises from downstairs. Her DH told her to go back to sleep. She then heard her Jeep, just about brand new, being started. She knew there was trouble, and flew downstairs, to find the back door smashed in, glass all over, and just about every cupboard and drawer in her kitchen hanging open.....Jeep long gone. All that was taken was the vehicle. Police didn't exactly fly, took an hour to come, by which time Jeep could have been anywhere. DD has bought herself an old van now, looks awful, but she says she feels safe now, nobody would want such an ugly vehicle.....she has at least 10 weeks to wait to get the insurance money, and says she will never get another big 4WD. She is more bothered that someone has been in her house than the theft of her Jeep, says the house feels dirty. What a world we live in now.

Hello all, here is a family story for you.
In 1961 my sister at age 18 gave birth to a baby boy and gave him up for adoption. It was very hush hush and family scandal,as I was 12 I wasn't in on the secret. She never had other kids. My sister and I were 6 years apart and she wasn't real enthused about me in the early part of our lives. It became really strained when I had my kids. Then she was diagnosed with BC at 40. Changed our whole relationship. She told me about the baby and we became very close. She started searching for him. But because he wasn't searching also she could not find him. Finally in Oct 2000, they reconnected. We had a family reunion in Feb of 2001, my parents didn't quite know what to make of it all but were there for the celebration. My sister passed 3 weeks later, we (my nephew included) were at her side. She made me promise to keep him in my life. It was such a blessing for all of us to still have a connection to her through him. He looks so much like her it is breath taking.
-
Isabella, YIKES! The thought of a burgler in the house while one is asleep is frightening; and I understand your DDs feeling of violation.
Mac, what a lovely story of re-union. So sorry for the loss of your sister though.
-
Maca,
Your story brought tears to my eyes. What a blessing to know your sister found her son before she passed. And how wonderful for him to be able to know his birth mother, however briefly. Gosh, there are millions of family stories, some funny, some tragic, heartbreaking and heartwarming, full of love, some not so much. You just never know what burden someone is carrying. Or what joy is right around the corner.
Wishing us all joy in this new year. -
maca: as an adoptive mother, i was moved by your story.. so glad your sister got to meet him.. im so sorry for your loss..
Isabella: having been through it years ago; i still lock everything, double check.. it is the thought of someone going thru all your "stuff" that creeps you out...
still, she has to give you the damned mirror!!glad you're holding it in.. any chances SIL can get it to you???stay warm, and power shop!!!!......3jays
-
Mac, like 3jays I'm an adoptive mother too of one of my children. How wonderful that they reconnected before your sister passed away.
Sorry about the broken ribs 3jays. I know they hurt, but you're still here and I'm very happy about that!!
Kathy

Thinking of you with doc appts today!
I admire adoptive moms so much!!!! I got to meet my nephew's adoptive family when he got married about 5 years ago. We had so much to be grateful for, that he was given life, then given love, then given more family than most of us. It was such a healing experience for both of them to meet and have 3 months to get to know one another. I guess I am thinking about it alot since they got to enjoy a Christmas and New Years together.
So I am in awe of all the women fighting our daily battles and still standing!
-
3Jays hope all goes well.
Hoping the sun might shine and lift our spirits a bit this morning. As I posted on another thread my BFs 5 yr old grandaughter died yesterday and it has hit everyone very hard. I have known her father since he was a baby.
Have some adoptive stories in our family good and bad. My sister adopted two boys, one is great and the other has caused her so much heartache and grief. She needs a medal for the way she has stuck with him even though he is the reason she has to live with us. He has met his natural family but that wasn't really successful. Whereas the story with my other nephew is so different. he recently met some of his siblings having met his father years ago. My sister often sees his mother when she is visiting our brother. Very positive for all.
Must make some coffee soon
Big hugs
-
Mac I am in awe too. Heres to all the brave women dealing with the beast!
-
3jays, can't remember if your appt was today or tomorrow, but anyway I hope you got both answers and solutions!

3jays.. GOOD LUCK with the new doc. I hope he can find something to help ease at least SOME of your symptoms....without much expense. I cannot understand the way you girls have to pay for every little thing. HOW do you do it ? Or how do you meet the insurance premiums ??
I can't sort out what day it is yet, I always get like this after Christmas and New Year, everything inside out..nobody working...at least the kiddo's get back to school today, only to get soaked thru'. I have silly people ringing me up asking where their orders are, this is after telling them all orders would be delivered double 2 days before Christmas, and no deliveries until Jan 9th. Looks like I might have to turn out myself tomorrow with a few deliveries, just to shut silly people up ( or not to lose their custom !!) The people who run health food shops are NUTS. Just not like normal people, seem to live in a parallel universe !! Wierd hairdo's and sandals, the lot of them, always seem to be away with the fairies, no memories at all. I daren't say boo to them tho', they give me a reasonable income for not much effort !!!!
Isabella.

Isabella, I have the days all mixed up too...hmm
-
thanks, ladies. for asking about the dr... well, i THINK he may be legite, but he said some things i just don't believe in.. like the heavy metals theory of ms.. like 20 yr old filling with metal causes ms.. it was disproved YEARS ago, yet many ple have their filling taken out and replaced.. i don't have the $$$to do, nor the interest.. anyway, i've lost 4 teeth from chemo.. soon, they'll either fall out like them, or the fillings will come out. then we'll budget money to do them one at a time.. Kinda like the days everyone was going to mexico for Laetrille.. it wasn't helpful in the least!!!
so, im gonna tsake a wait n see attitude.. we have some $$ they take every payck for medical from murs pay, and we get jan 1st of every year..
this dr. reduced a 3 1hr consult from 97 to 75.. so, we took it out of that $$, and im going back for the consult.. he wants a LOT of tests done.. but, i think my ent, whos been taking care of it, can order therm, then they'll be covered by ins.. the one i know won't be, is the adrenal insufficientcy.. a large part of MS.. he has a lab that does it for round $100.00; and i've wanted that done a long time, so will get that one done...
he said the ms is the kingpin, and chemo the first domino to fall.. just what i was told in the beginning.. we'll see where he goes from there..
i talked to him, and again, i ve wanted tests for parasites, and "leaky gut" syndrome done for yrs.. since a trip (an hospitalization in Mexico) so, im all in for that.. from there, we'll see...
if he wants to put me on a permanent diet of nuts and twigs, ill be done.. thats NOT the QOL i intend to have!!!but i am willing to see one step at a time!!!
we went and had a wonderful dinner of hamburgers and ceasar salad afterwards.. red meat may be removed from the menu for awhile soon.. we only have it sparingly, and chicken and fish, pasta, the rest....
Isabella: what slays me, is that i have to rob peter to pay paul for tests, when we pay exorberant amounts for insurance, to begin with!!!i figure if he keeps me from seeing just 2 of my drs. i can afford the test!!!the txs, we'll see..
His name is askdrherman if anyone wants to see him on you tube, and tell me what YOU think... he seems to say he has the cure for everything, so i just don't know HOW i feel...
If he can get me out of bed, to the pool, and seeing my grands each week, thats' all i can ask for.. sounds like heaven to me!!!!
hope you all are doing well... Isabella
-
Wow, 3jays, I would give it a shot because you have nothing to lose!
Isabella, your description of the health food store owners pretty much covers it for the ones here as well. And don't forget...lots of piercings and tattos. Ugh.
-
Barb. We don't get many piercings and tattoos among the health food nuts here...they seem to be a very clean living bunch, not met any yet looking as odd as that !!

Diagnosed overnight in the ER as having long QT rhythym in my heart!!!! Now I need cardiac work-ups...sigh. Scary diagnosis, more scary than cancer. I could drop dead at any second and not even know it was coming!!
-
Yikes Barbe! You had ER last night? On top of everything else, oh dear. I hope this is an easy fix. Take it easy, and take care of yourself.
-
I don't know what that means Barbe, but it sounds scarey - sure hope that the cardiac workup provides answers that can be addressed quickly and comfortably. Thank goodness costs aren't an issus so you don't have to think twice about having tests you need. Yay for OHIP.
-
Barbe, I don't know what it means either, but don't mess around with it..sending hugs
-
Barbe, sending big hugs and hope they get this sorted asap.
-
What it does mean is that my heart is missing more than just a beat, it misses a whole pattern and then pops back into rhythm. The scary part will be the day when it doesn`t just pop back into rhythym and I stay in atrial fibrillation and die!! The ER doc was quite anxious for me to get the seriousness of this and even copied pages of info for me off the internet. If it`s not drug induced, I may need a pacemaker defrib combo inmplanted!!
-
YIKES Barbe! Prayers going up for you! Hoping they can fix you up toot suite! Wow, what a shocker.
-
Good golly miss molly! Barbe you sure are copping everything but the kitchen sink! I sure hope they get all that sorted very quickly for you................yeah, you are right.........scary!!!!
Love n hugs. Chrissy
-
Barbe, sending hugs and prayers for a very quick solution!
Kathy
-
Barbe, hugs and prayers for a speedy diagnosis and treatment. I am sorry you have to deal with this.
