I've worn out 1 set of audio tapes of Bag of Bones....  My daughter just bought the paperback for a friend's Christmas present but it didn't even make it out of the car before the friend discovered it and stayed up till 3:am last night starting to read it.  lololol

Test results were online when we arrived home -- only good news gets posted before you see the doc.  The US reports no masses in liver, gall bladder, spleen, kidneys, pancreas!  Happy day!!!!

Thank you so much for holding my hand.  DH was distracted, and less than adequate, and you girls made all the difference.

    Hugs.

Lost_Creek. I am so pleased you got good results.....you can relax over the holiday now.

Sorry your DH was not up to scratch for you, some are..  some aren't . One thing I will not shout at my DH about (tho' I will call him out about most other things !!) is his help to me when I was at the start of all this mess. He was there all the time, and didn't half help with everything. Never missed an appointment, never even had to be asked to empty the dishwasher ( which was a minor miracle ! ) He very soon forgot how to do all these things though !!!!

I was at a funeral yesterday with DH, and he behaved !! It was a catholic funeral, the first I have ever attended, and was a funeral mass and communion. I have never seen anything like this before....what I couldn't understand was all the way thru' the service they were continually asking for their sins to be forgiven....WHY...if they are such righteous people.... do they commit sins in the first place ?? Half way thru' the service they all suddenly started turning around and shaking everyones hands...some even walking across the aisles to shake peoples hands....to me it had nothing to do with the person who had died and who's funeral it was...it was almost bordering on 'happy clappy' type worship. The eulogy really was nothing much about the person who had died, it was all about his attendance at church, and his faithful marriage !! Nothing was said about his family, his children and his grandchildren, his love of going to the gym, and playing squash every day until he was 82, and his farming activities...which to me, and most people there, WAS the man. I was very pleased to be out of that church, and back to real life again ! I looked at my watch when we came out and 1 hour and 50 minutes had been taken up, the longest funeral I have ever been to.

This morning I get the news that another of my friends had a brain aneurism and died suddenly....that's 3 in a week . This funeral isn't 'til Dec 30th tho'....so the old funeral skirt is really earning it's keep this month!

I have been finishing off wrapping all my Christmas presents this afternoon...I have managed to remember everyone save for my youngest grandson....I have just completely missed him out, so it's off to town for me tomorrow.

I heard the doorbell ringing while I was busy wrapping up....I was going to ignore it...I do that quite regularly if I am busy !!! but I saw the car that had pulled up had a dog hopping about in the back....turns out it was a youngish woman with a dog she could no longer cope with, and I was her last resort....just what I needed !.....she was off to the vets. next stop to have it put down if I wouldn't take it. I have heard this story a few times over the years, but somehow I believed her, so took the dog from her. It's a medium terrier type, and is completely out of control. It yap, yap, yaps all the time, it is completely untrained...it pee'd all over my slippers while I was talking to her...it is car sick..chases other dogs, pulls plaster off the walls, eats its way thru' wood doors, is pretty unpredictable with small children, other dogs when there's food about, and doesn't like cats...and I am lumbered with it. This is only what I was told about it, no doubt I shall find out a lot more about it as we go on. I have no time at all for it at the moment. He was put into a kennel that he can't escape from, and another very extrovert dog of my own was put in with him to keep him company 'til I decide what to do with it.....don't like to leave dogs alone in a kennel. I think he was just a cute puppy, spoilt rotten, has had no discipline, and now just wants to be top dog all the time. He is only a year old so has a long time in front of him. Training dogs is NOT my forte....I only ask my dogs to come when I call them, not when they feel like it, and to be clean in the house. Basically that's all they need to do here to get on with me. I don't even put them on a lead, there's no need here..but where to start with this delinquent I don't know. He will have to hang on 'til after Christmas now, my time seems to be booked up most days....but I don't think I will ever be able to rehome him. I just don't have the regular time to spend on him, and if I pass him on he could be illtreated if he carries on in his own sweet way. Just one thing in his favour, he is not a big dog, so won't cost anything to feed in with all my dogs.

I am finding my Alsatian pup is eating me out of house and home....she loves her food...I buy her different food to my small dogs so I notice the extra expense...but she is worth it, and is turning into a lovely dog ( but I shall be relieved when she is off expensive puppy food and onto ordinary stuff.)

Lost_Creek, wonderful to hear that your news is happy news!

And, as a couple of other gals here, I also got my hair cut this past week, Wednesday. I still look like my picture but it's just a lighter color now & a tad shorter.

Finished Bag of Bones last night and it was very well done. I get bored with most of the movies that are made from Stephen Kings books as you can't tell what's happening. A lot of his books are mind games in the 'heroes' head. This was a GREAT movie! PVR'd so I could skip through the commercials, but even they weren't too offensive.

Fabulous news LC!! It seems a number of us have gotten good news lately....let's keep that trend going now.....

Isabella, since Alsatians grow so fast, you can start her on adult food at 5-6 months.  It slows the growth down and they still  achieve their growth potential.  We have our 3rd German Shepherd and we took him off puppy food at 6 months.  Much easier on their hips when they grow more slowly.

Maybe that's what happened with my Gus .  He's topped out at 135# and still looks trim and proportionate. He eats like a horse. The first two Shepherds were 95 and 110 # respectively....

I spent hours today making pizzelle cookies...nine or ten dozen or more..three different flavors, almond, anise and chocolate...

What are pizzelle cookies?  Sounds yummy.  I made the dough for chocolate lebkuchen - will bake tomorrow.  For the rest, I'm making sweet yeast breads.  Family comes Saturday and neph1's wife loves to cook, so I won't have to work too hard.

Neph2 in Afghanistan got word "their papers didn't come through"... and they won't be coming home after all. They were at their main base, cleaning up getting ready to demobilize, and got word they'll be there until April or maybe longer. No Christmas joy for those soldiers.  Hoping the package of comfort foods I sent arrives in time.  Back to "good thoughts circles of friends..."

    Peace.

I'm always reading even if I'm not posting...don't know where the time goes!

Barbe and Barbara - soooo glad for your good news.

Hope everyone is finding a way to enjoy this Christmas season regardless of things going on around you. I was doing chemo during Christmastime the yr I was dx'd, so I know how that can be, but even then we found things to laugh about and treasure. Kind of puts other things in perspective, ya know?

    Hugs buddies.

Been inundated again by daughters and grandchildren, its so lovely but rather tired form all the rushing aroind. GS is cutting his two front teeth, do hope they are through for Christmas and it is amking him really grizzly. Anyway he is a dear wee boy and crawling everywhere. GD is a very bossy young lady who knows her own mind and tries to get things the way she wants. Umm that reminds me of her mother.

About six weeks agao I fell while I was carrying GS- have torn the rotator cuff in my shoulder so have to have physio on it. It has been very painful so hope it helps.

Must get cleaned up and organised as we have a Christmas party at the church playgroup tomorrow and I am not sure what I am taking for morning tea.

So pleased that everyone is having good outcomes to their tests etc, just love hearing B9.

    Big hugs

Glad to hear the good news from everyone.  Sorry some of you have difficult family issues especially around the holidays.  DH and I will be just us this year as DD#2 cannot travel with her new daughter due in Jan. and DD#1 is trying to get as much stuff done as she can so they will be ready to move to Japan when DSIL's official orders come through.  This will be the first Christmas without any of the children or grandchildren being here.  We will be going to Oklahoma in Jan to be with DD#2 when she had GD#5.  They have already named her, Kelsey Renee and they better  not change it as I have already finished her blanket with her name on it!  Hope everyone finds their own peace and joy this holiday season.  Hugs and love to all.

susgul...thanks for advice about Alsation feeding...big dogs spook me, give me little dogs any day! My 1st Alsation wasn't much trouble, just ate all infront of her, and looks to have good bone, but this new little madam (well, new big madam) was very picky at first, then ate all she could get her chops round. She's had the trots , the concretes, and the trots again ! She has been hard work. She is much too big to live in the house, so she isn't getting the attention she wants. I don't stay outside too long this weather....wish I'd waited for a summer puppy.

My terrier has cooled down some....but I am at a loss as to what to do with him...truthfully I wish I'd not taken him in, but I couldn't stand by and see him be put down. I haven't much time to spend with him this week at all, but he has made a friend of one of my own dogs...they were curled up together last night against the radiator like brothers. He needs a very strong hand, and someone with oodles of time to spend on him. I haven't even the time to get involved in taking him to dog behavior classes. He can eat well...as everyone seems to be doing at the moment. I usually get a delivery of dog food once every 3 weeks, but have just had to re-order today after only 12 days. Wednesday is my fresh meat and bone delivery from a local butcher, he always does me well with 2 or 3 big tubs of all sorts of evil looking things, like lungs, liver and pigs heads !!!! but the dogs love it all. I give them all plenty of fresh eggs, I am too lazy these days to clean any dirty eggs ready for sale, so the dogs win ! Sometime if I get a big order for eggs come in there won't be any 'dog eggs' for a few days, and I have loads of little eyes looking at me as I go past with a bucket, wondering where their treats are.

Had a trip to the city today, it was packed, parking was a big problem, and I was going round and round looking for a space. Treated myself to some make-up and a new umbrella. Also went mad and got some thermal camisoles and leggins...and a polo neck cashmere sweater. I was looking for something to wear to go to DDs Christmas Day...something 3 yr old proof...yet different, but couldn't find anything I liked. I shall end up throwing on my jeans again ! Called in a dress shop I like and was told their sale starts on Thursday...as their clothes are usually quite expensive, I will wait 'til Thursday....but whether or not I can be bothered to do the whole driving 30 miles each way thing and looking for a parking space again remains to be seen, it will be 2 days off Christmas and the roads will be horrendeous. Bad enough today, the last 5 miles was nose to tail creeping along at 20mph.

Taking the girls who work for me out for their Christmas treat tomorrow....just a good meal and some drinks, and an afternoon out in the pub...that is if we can get all the work done quickly...or rather if THEY can get the work done quickly....I'm not aiming to get dirty tomorrow ! I have a table booked for 1pm.

Having a meal out Wednesday night, Christmas Eve afternoon, then DDs Christmas Day, and probably shall be out again Boxing Day night. I shall be putting on loads of weight, as I just love all the Christmas food (as long as I don't have to cook it ) Having a root around my wardrobes tomorrow, to get all my clothes out and ready, so I'm not running round at the last minute looking for something.

So pleased you had a day out 3Jays and enjoyed your family.

Tried to take GD to see Santa in his enchanted forest but there was a 2 hour wait to get in!!! So we looked at the store decorations which are wonderful, looked at the windows which are magic and she got to play with the Thomas model railway so it was fun.

Have to get dressed as have to go to physio soon for my shoulder.

    Big hugs to all.

3jays..so pleased you managed to spend some time with son and grandson..it means so much to be with them, doesn't it ? No doubt you will be all in now, get plenty of rest whilst the drugs are doing their job.

Wave...hope you sailed thru' your first chemo today, and that you don't have any bad effects to spoil the holiday...don't want to miss all the Christmas food ! Can't speak from experience about chemo, I dodged that bullet.

Had a lovely meal out with the girls today, we were sat in the pub from 12.30 to 4.30, just having a Christmas dinner, and a good old natter....and the odd drink. When we came out of the pub I decided I would call and pick up some newspapers, and bumped into an old friend. I hadn't seen her for about 2 years, and had heard she had bc in the summer. I did try and ring her, but got no reply, so had sent 2 messages with her son that I was thinking of her. She looked terrible, I was shocked when I saw her. She had a massive stomach, looked pregnant, but couldn't have been because she was 76 ! She'd had a BMX and refuses to wear foobs, and had just finished radio. so I suppose it was understandable she looked so rough. I asked about her bc, and was shocked to find she knew nothing at all about it. She didn't want to know. All she could tell me was she had bc 'in both sides' hence the BMX, and 'it' had got into her spine, and 'eaten holes into 2 of those little bone things' ( vertabrae) She had been going mad with back pain because of this. She'd had radio to her chest and spine, and is now back outside working ....'but not tractoring yet ' She has farmed all her life, and just about lived on her great big John Deere tractors , much bigger than anything I 've ever had. She amazes me. I went to her 70 birthday party, and she was saying then she had no intention at all of retiring, and she has stuck to this. She and her husband farm in a big way, they run quite a big spread all alone, always have done, so I have no idea what will happen to this now. I said was there anything she wanted that I could do, and she said she was OK, and was managing. She was intrigued that I was wearing foobs, and had to reach out and go squeeze squeeze !! Goodness knows what anyone else in the shop must have thought ! I hope there was no one else in the shop at that time that might have known me ! I couldn't stop giggling all the way home in my car, wondering IF anyone I knew had seen this and what rumours will be flying now !!

I am having an early night tonight, all this going out does for me....roll on next week when all will be over and I can go back into hibernation. Shortest day tomorrow, so at least things will slowly be moving nearer to Spring. My kitchen and sitting room smell of hyacynths, I have 2 bowls in each room flowering their hearts out....but bet they won't last until the weekend ( I have more in a cold room, so will bring out tomorrow and hope they will open for the weekend.) When I got back tonight there was a message thru' my door that flowers had been delivered, and were in the garage. Beautiful red roses, white chrysanths, and greenery, with coloured pinecones on sticks, and glitter all over the place, very festive....but I don't expect this arrangement will last 'til Christmas Day..well, I shall be very lucky if they do, I have put them in water in the dogs' kitchen, where there is no heat, so maybe I can baby them along....or kill them with cold. Should've been delivered Christmas Eve...or am I just being ungrateful ?!!! Probably ungrateful !

Wave, hope all went as well as could be today.  Thinking of you.

3jays, it's so nice that you got out with your family!  I know how much you treasure seeing the grands.  My GS has a recheck with the dr. tomorrow about his pneumonia.  I can tell he's much improved but it'll be good to know for sure.

Isabella, it's nice to get out with the girls, isn't it?  I'm sorry about what's happened with your old friend, but have to laugh about the "foob feeling" incident!
