A Near Miss:
Very excellent MIL is a big opera fan. So is oldest monster. So back in May I scored two seats for the two of them to go to the opera this Sunday. Okay the seats were cheap but they were seats. I figured that if oldest monster could get a youth ticket I would get to go too.
So today I go on line to check what time they need to be there and I can't find any confirmation for the tickets.
And then I find the confirmation and its only for one ticket....

the immortal words of Hugh Grant in Four Weddings and A Funeral came to mind.
I quickly call the box office. "Hello! My name is 3monstermama and I am screwed. Help."
fortunately once the woman stopped laughing she was able to find me a ticket to buy that did not cost $200+ dollars where is that fainting emoticon when you need it so they will be going to the opera and need never know about the muck up.
but honestly, is this tamox brain or what? Last night we watched the last two episodes of the last season of Life on Mars UK original version because I seem to have messed up the netflix order. And of course, the end being what it is, no real point in watching the rest of the series. .. .
most annoying.

I made a meatloaf yesterday and put it in the oven at 350 I thought. Half an hour later it smelled funny. Went to look and noticed the oven was at 530. Damn digital oven! hehehehehehe!
-
3monstmama-Are you going to see "Porgy and Bess"?
I am my dad's "opera partner". My mom can't stand opera, and I started going with my dad so that I could spend time with him. I surprised myself how much I liked it. We have seen "Tosca" and "Aida" so far.

Ahhhhh, "Porgy and Bess"... I LOVE Gershwin! I have "Rhapsody in Blue" loaded on my MP3 player for the hospital. "Bess You Is My Woman," and especially "Summertime" .... I LOVE GERSHWIN!!
L -
LOL! 3monst, that's too funny. Blue, glad to see you "blue" again.
I feel circumferentially rotten. Nachos with no jalopenos and key lime pie. Total pig!! And I feel bloated. Serves me right.
Rosemary - no wimp you!
-
Gershwin's Summertime... Wonderful
-
I love Gershwin too.
-
Key Lime Pie, sigh.
-
Gershwin is great. I love the songs as well as the storyline. In the old days when I sang semi professionally I did lots of his music.
-
Make mine Phantom of the Opera..........................Saw it 3 times..........Once with my girls from work................then took my 3 daughters...............and years later took all my female grandaughters...............I would go again..................have the music, and I blast it in my car when I'm driving...............love it, love it, love it.....................
-
Finally got to see and hear Jackie Evancho in person last week. What an incredible voice!
Wish I had some Key Lime pie, DH made sweet potato pie, it was delish! Off to bed. -
Wow, Kira, you sang semi-professionally? We have a few singers here! Medigal was an aspiring opera singer (haven't seen her around in a while -- hope things are good with you Medigal, wherever you are!) -- I was a voice major for a couple years in college but my semi-professional career was more as an alt-rock bass player -- and Lindasa, weren't you a singer too (as well as pianist?). Apple of course is a great pianist and organist -- maybe we need to put on a BCO musical! (Lots of string players around BCO, too!)
Off to bed soon... Sleep tight everyone, and remember:
"beware the Jubjub bird and shun
the frumious Bandersnatch!" -
I used to belong to a choir and sing in musicals put on by a community theatre group I was part of. I haven't sung in years. My once decent voice is probably non existent now.
Everyone travelling to NOLA - with one or two L's - have a wonderful trip!!
ETA: Which reminds me, Susie - hope your marathon flight has gone well and that you can check in at some time.
Slept like a log last night. I wish they sold hypothalamuses at flea markets - I would love to find a better one.
-
I am an official monotone. But at the end of the Roy Rogers & Dale Evans TV program on Saturday morning, I used to sing along to "Happy Trails to you, until we meet again, Happy Trails to you, keep smiling on til then."
I could, however, hold music for someone.....have an even more wonderful weekend than we know you're all going to have. Pictures, pictures...
Next year - I'm going to be healthier!!! Hope Athena is too...meanwhile, we'll compete for "greenest."
-
Good morning Athena! I'm working on my third cup of coffee. Hope to be awake soon. I'm glad you slept well last night, I did too.
I'm claustrophobic and don't think I could be on a flight as long as Sue's. I'd need to be heavily sedated.
Today is a busy day ... lot's of errands and packing for the trip. Can't wait to meet everyone!
hugs,
Bren
EDITED: Good morning Sunflowers!
-
Morning folks. Waiting to print out my boarding pass for tomorrow. Can't WAIT to meet everyone. Gotta do some work. Later.
-
You guys .. don't forget to pack an umbrella .. it's supposed to rain up north this weekend. I guess if it's too wet to see the falls, we can always go to the casino. ha!
Barbara .. my printer is acting up, so will have to get my boarding pass tomorrow.

duckie - I saw Phantom twice and loved it! I'm not much of a musical person, though. Usually they give me headaches.
-
'Morning sunflowers - I hope you win the "green" contest, otherwise I will get a headache. The strangest thing: when I was a child, the color green would give me a headache. Of course it was psychosomatic. I wonder what Freudian interpretation there could be to explain this strange symptom.
-
Athena, ok, I'll be green, you can be yellow, and together we'll be BLUE ;-)
So nice to see Blue back as her real self....
still thinking of Kramer's Key Lime Pie - oh, how I LOVED it...
eta: I can't spell OR type...
-
Hmmm, green could be envy, seasick, eco-friendly, hmmmmm.
Boarding pass ready. Umbrella packed along with clean undies, iPad and backup trail mix. I am ready to roll. You can tell where my priorities lie.
-
Good morning ladies,
Lots to do today, as soon as I get moving. Can't wait to meet everyone this weekend.
-
Barbara - I think it was those Sunday country trips we took and my anxiety that I hadn't done any homework - you'd think Iw as responsible - lol!
Early stage cancer is like crossing the Mafia and getting away with it. You live, but must forever glance over your shoulder.
Diagnosis: 3/2009, IDC, 3cm, Stage IIb, Grade 3, 3/8 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- -
I haven't started packing yet. I'll take care of that around 9 tonight. :-)
-
Look who's peeking!

-
How cute!
-
That picture is so cute Blue.
I'm so jealous of all of you meeting up this weekend. I hope every one has a great time.
-
Ooooh!
-
We'll toast you, too, Kira.
Well, I am a traveling fool for the next couple months. NOTL this weekend, Tulsa the 23-26, Ft Myers the 30-1, Baltimore 9/14-17, and Shell KNob MO the 23-26. Whew. I am doing another cruise on 10/30 and man do I need it.

I read in the Globe and Mail that "Whole Foods animal welfare standards for meat" is coming to Canada.
