Maybe there really is a code...or is there? (Sorry the hat fell off. I found some string to tie it on with and now all becomes clear.) Food is FOOD. Sorry to disappoint those of you who are looking for codes or secret handshakes. And the moon landing really took place.
-
We need a new code book. I love McDonalds fries and wish I had some for lunch! A chocolate shake would be good too. But that's not going to happen!
Hope everyone is having a good day,
Bren

Put your tinfoil hat back on. Mcdonald's fries are just code for yummy
-
BinBa, You're to funny. Yes just food. My DS is bringing over the grandkid, and I'm alone minus the DH, so I don't feel like cooking. I haven't seen the grandchild in months so really looking forward to it.
-
Kira .. I miss my grands too. They live in San Diego, and I try to get out there once or twice a year. They grow so fast ... I don't know where the time goes. My little grandson will be four in October and the other one is seven. I was lucky when the oldest was a baby I was only about an eight hour drive from them and was able to visit often.
Rosemary .. you make me laugh!
hugs,
Bren

You either have to laugh or cry. Silly women think we have the time or energy to make up codes. It is really hard not to see the whole thing as a big joke.
-
Athena - so good to hear you're feeling better - here's to LOTS of sleep.
Having a chuckle thinking about a duck, wearing a tin foil hat tied on with string, trying to read a code book, cuz we HAVE to write them down, they're so complex, who could remember. AND, don't forget the different colour inks, make the words have different meanings.
"Twas brillig and the slithey toves, did gyre and gimble in the wave" - did I ever mention we had to memorize The Jabberwocky in 8th grade as a punishment - and almost ALL of us ( including me) remember every word. Our highschool reunions are a blast

-
Good morning!
In less than two weeks I will be on holiday!!! yipppeee. our holiday will be a multigenerational deal to allow my 82 year old mother time with her grandchildren--she has seen them via skype but not in person for probably 2 years?
Dinner last night was a PNW version of salad nicoise. Sub in some smoked salmon for the more traditional tuna. Thanks to our local farmer's market we had amazing electric purple potatos to contrast the green beans. yum. No leftovers.
Oh and the idea from dinner came from youngest monster. . . .

"all mimsy were the borogoves, and the mome raths outgrabe"
(secret handshake to Sunflowers!)
-
hillck...
Or as my kids say.....
"If it's not one thing it's your mother."...
Ah children...
you gotta love them...
that's the law...
-
LOL LOL ain't this the BEST group of women! KNOW The Jabberwocky. That seals it, next year, I'm coming to eat chocolate if I have to walk! Which, I did this am for the first time in weeks. Nice, cool, sun had just risen. We've had STEAM, rain for weeks. And, of course, I'm lazy.
Hmm...wonder what the code is for lazy? I forget. Better tune my tinfoil to another station to find it. "And, hast thou slain the Jabberwok, come to my arms my beamish boy, oh, frabyuous day, caloo, callay, he chortled in his joy."" haven't read it in years, some words may be different.
Hillck - I also know POOH HUMS, "Sing ho for the life of a bear, sing ho for the life of a Pooh, I don't much mind if it rains or snows, cuz I got hunney on my nice new nose, I don't much mind if it rains or thaws, cuz I got hunney on my nice new paws." Better go check those words, it's been years. Yup, you gotta love kids, ezpecially if they're your own. My "kids" belong to other people, so I really get to LOVE LOVE LOVE them. ( an they me, especially if I sing Pooh Hums!)

I had some sort of plaguish nausea last month. My favorite for that is ginger tea. You can usually get instant in any Asian grocery store but lacking that you can make you own with a slice or two of fresh ginger, pounded and then steeped in hot water. Honey to taste.
-
Oh Cindy .. I hate nausea worse than anything! And nothing seems to help me. I had it so bad on Arimidex and Tamoxifen that I quit taking them. The docs even put me on Phenergan to help, but it just made me feel worse.
Ginger ale sounds pretty good and some soda crackers. If you have some coke syrup that might help too.
I wish I had lots of kids lot Rosemary. I love having grandbabies, and I only have two.
Need to give myself a pedicure for our upcoming trip. Have I said yet today that I am so excited! I'm nervous too .. haven't been anywhere in so very long! Just very grateful that Barbara is doing the driving. I get so lost when I'm in new places .. can't find north or south.
My camera is acting up, so will have to get one of the throw-away kinds. Sure hope it takes decent pictures.
hugs,
Bren

Cindy
FLAT, room temperature ginger ale. If you HAVE fresh ginger, cut up in hot water. And, do try to eat the giner after you've finished the tea. Dry crackers, with a little salt like saltines ( if you need to keep hydrated) Boy,are we all "experts" in nausea on this journey.
It's STILL such a yucky feeling - hope it goes away soon.
-
Cindy I agree flat ginger-ale has always been by go to.
If you have gator aid or something like that try it as well.
-
Beware the jabberwock my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch.
Came home and looked it up to make sure I had it right. One of my all time favorites!
-
I do not care to discuss nausea. I am trying the ignore it and it will go away method. Why do so many meds upset your stomach? I know my method won't work if it's bad. I lost 10 lbs 2 years ago because I was so nauseous and I got better when a med was changed.
-
I bet the heat doesn't help matters one bit. I am sure it played a role in my (symptom that shall go unnamed). Feel better soon!
-
Some of you may remember that I was swamping out my mother-in-law's apartment the day before yesterday. I was carrying a lot of garbage bags out to the dumpster, and hauling boxes to my car. When I was trying to toss a garbage bag into the dumpster, I kind of lost my grip, and the bag smashed into my "bad" post-radiation boob. I woke up today with a black and blue boob. I guess radiated boobs are a little more sensitive than regular ones.
Regarding POOH HUMS-he had an ode to a bumblebee that went something like this-"Buzz, buzz, buzz. I wonder what it does?"
Mary
-
I did not mean to make light of anyone's symptoms. You have my sympathy. Cola syrup works if you follow the directions.
-
Whose symptoms did you make light of? Not mine. If you had, I would have laughed. Being politically incorrect always helps me during illness. I hope your (symptom that shall remain unnamed) has been forgotten into oblivion.

Trying to decide between exercise and a big, unhealthy meal. NOT an easy choice!
-
My exercise was a walk around the yard. I live on a lake and love to swim but it doesn't feel right on a 75 degree day in August. If it was September or October and I was trying to squeeze in all the swimming I could get maybe.
-
is 75 cold where you live Rosemary? Because it's considered a heat wave here in Seattle.
Mary
-
Mary .. I'm sorry you got a boo boo on your bad boob. I hope it doesn't hurt too much.
Rosemary .. I don't know what 75 degrees feels like anymore.
Athena .. Don't ask me that question, cause I would say eat instead of exercise.
hugs,
Bren
-
Thanks Bren. It really doesn't hurt at all-it just looks terrible.
Mary
-
It is usually around 80 in August.
-
Concurr with YramAl---75 is definitely summer swimming weather!!
I did the coke syrup route in my youth--tablesppon over ice chips--but like the ginger tea much better. If you truly feel horrid and have no one to make tea for you, nibbling candied ginger works well too. Don't like flat ginger ale--not a soda fan and not sure if there how much ginger is actually in ginger ale any more.
it is lovely out right now---blue blue sky and can just make out big honking mountain. . . .
-
Bren - I said eat too - lol! Here I am.
-
I like the cola syrup because the only time I have cola is when my tummy is upset. Reminds me of when I was a kid and cola and ginger ale were for parties or upset stomachs.
ETA 75 and windy. Am I too much of a wimp?
-
For dinner I had Stouffers French Bread Pizza because nobody else was home. DH and DS are not fond of it.
