They normally don't have cream in them - sometimes jam or nothing. Mine today was fresh whipped cream.



Doubt you would get them anywhere but Aust or NZ - both countries lay claim to inventing them

The one disadvantage to getting to bed early and sleeping well is that you get up far too soon. I am supposed to be awake at 5am my time to go to my club, but here I am at 4am.

Hopefully the nausea will have abated by now. My latest is to tell my doctor that I am half lioness, and this explains my unusual reaction to some medications which have been tested on humans.  

Honestly, I have less and less respect for "the data" and "statistics" - that, or I really am a cross between species. I have a more mundane explanation which is very technical - even then, I present a highly unusual case.

Today's hair - fluffy and cooperative after pleasant session with blow dryer and round brush. Depression averted, relief abounds.



Athena, your hair is beautiful! Cutting your own hair is certainly an excellent solution to the danger and uncertainty of hairdresser roulette! Mine is wavy/curly/independent-minded, so it requires two free hands and a sharp pair of scissors all at once to keep it in line.



I hope you are feeling better, too... Going to a spinning class IS a good sign! I sympathize with your sleep issues ... I have started waking up at 3:30 am or so, after going to sleep between 9:30 and 10. That is about half of the sleep I need to feel human, but sleep just isn't happening right now. I figure I will sleep when I'm ready or when I am too exhausted to stay awake. And then there will be 10-12 hours under anesthesia.... I should be plenty rested after that! (I know I won't be, but I won't care by then!)



Cat pills ... My little girl Puffy was excellent at faking compliance. She would take the pill and hide it in her cheek. Then we would pat her and tell her what a good girl she was. Then she would walk off and shortly thereafter we would hear a small, kitty-sized "thoo" and the sound of a pill hitting the wall or the floor. Once she spit it at DH and he found it in his hair. We eventually got a pill shooter and it worked.



Gross-out alert....Puffy developed renal failure after her brother died. That meant that sometimes she developed serious constipation. The first time it happened, we didn't know it and thought she was dying. We raced her to the vet, where they gave her an enema and then they were mightily impressed when we told her to poop and we would take her home ... And she pooped and walked over to the door of the cage and tried to open it so she could go home. We then had to give her the occasional enema at home. You have not lived until you have given a 20-lb old and cranky cat an enema -- by yourself. DH got very good at it. We kept her alive for a couple more good years with sub-cutaneous fluids and the occasional enema.

HL....I will never complain about trying to give my Siamese cat pills again after hearing about your cat enema story. Can't wait to tell my family that we are getting off lightly! He is very vocal at the best of times...lol...

Susie....my mum used to whip up a batch of lamingtons for any occassion. They were the best too!

Unless you signed an Advance Beneficiary Notice ( commonly known as an ABN)  you are not responsible for the difference in the amount billed and the amount paid by the insurance company. If the the Dr was a preferred provider under your medical insurance plan he is not allowed to bill you the difference, excluding any copays owed on the visit.

Sitting around @ 10:30pm waiting until it's time to get our DD from the airport - I'm going to kill her for arriving so late!!!! I want to go to bed!!!

I forgot about the foaming at the mouth(and the drool -oh yuck the nasty, nasty cat drool) when cats take a liquid. That happened to Lucy and the vet said it was because it tasted so bad.If they add flavors for kids, why couldn't the vets add fish oil or something? Too bad I didn't think about that when she was getting the antibiotic. I have a bottle of fish oil capsules I refuse to take since the FIRST ONE I took came back up almost whole. Cats would probably love that flavor-not me.

CAH - good luck at oncologist.  Hope you don't have the same degree of anxiety I do on those visits - but always relieved when over.

Sewing nut - thank you for the correct language for Jancie's situation.  YEARS ago, in MD, I had surgery and the anesthesiologist BILLED me personally an additional $3,000. because he was not on the BCBS plan.

Noone wants to hear what I told his office, or the surgeon's office about what they cold do with their bills!  Guess some folks figure it's always worth it to 'try one on."  Actually made me laugh - can you imagine, being wheeled into surgery, and ASKING anesthesiologist "do you accept BCBS?"  

i don't know whether to comment on the do it yourself haircuts (I love those), the lamington's or the cat enemas.

They want the bladder full so they can locate it and then locate internal structures around it -- kinda like a landmark.  (Pelvismark?)  I hear you on the pix -- my gastro offered me pix the first time I had a colonoscopy and I said NO so emphatically that he never offered again.  UGH!

Here is how anal I am about Preferred Providers.  I fell and broke my ankle several years back. I actually grabbed my Provider Directory while I was hobbling out the door.  Told them at the hospital I wanted to know who would be treating me and I looked up to make sure they were preferred. The surgeon wasnt in my book but he told me they had signed the contract and didnt make the printing cutoff for the book. Honestly, I think if they are practicing at a hospital they should accept what any insurance reimburses. BOO on greedy people!!

Just dinner out with DH ... we both work outside the home, so we're both at work now.  But we're meeting at a nice steak restaurant after work and I'm looking forward to a delish filet mignon and a nice glass of wine. My birthday present to myself is going to NOTL this year!
