BinVa, I sure hope we can meet in the future. It is amazing how great the feeling is to meet others who have gone through what we have gone through.
-
Mary
So sorry you have to deal with that.
Kira I would love to meet you someday.
-
Around that time I will be on a ferry to my meditation group but thats okay! I won't be the driver!!! should I pack something wacky to drink (absinthe?) or something regular (wine) or something classy (cognac)?
thoughts????
-
Wacky would be very much in Elizabeth's spirit.

Checking in on E to make sure she is eating fiber and protein and feeling ok. I am currently at a crossroads.

Athena,
Hoping, typing with crossed fingers, you have a peaceful quiet night's sleep, and feeling better ASAP.

3monsm - We'll be in Paris on the 8th September - only for 4 nights. I do have a lot of french words - but they're stuck inside my head. Bon Appetit!!
Well, 5 pairs of jeans (no I didn't iron in creases), 2 pairs of cut offs later (is that what you call them - we call them pedal pushers) and I'm taking a break. Also climbed up in our wardrobe and started trying on things again in case Paris is too hot for jeans. My new stuff from post chemo doesn't fit, my old prechemo stuff doesn't fit, so I've really reached the bottom of the barrel with a couple of pairs of cutoffs from years ago. I lost 22lbs after chemo, but must have put a bit back on - at least my new skinny jeans fit.
If I can get the rest of my clothes ironed today, I can rest tomorrow after taking dear Poppy for her shots, stopping the papers, stopping the mail, buying the pool chemicals and topping up the cash cards. Actually, that sounds like a lot for tomorrow - oh well.

(((Athena)))
I had a veggie scromelette tonight, so both protein and fiber!
Are you feeling better, sweetie?
-
Thanks everybody. Resting and relaxing tonight with a book and a margarita.
Going to Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast next week, after all the moving and packing is done, for a much needed break.

3monstmama, my Mom took me to France last fall. We don't speak French either, but it helped that the cousins we were staying with spoke pretty good English. I was surprised how much French we picked up (enough to make broken French an aspiration, LOL), but it's pretty much gone again.
And your reference to apricot jam reminded me of an episode of Lidia's Italy I was watching today. She made little patties of ricotta cheese that she coated with flour, egg, and then breadcrumbs. They fried up toasty brown and were topped with warm apricot jam. I'm definitely going to make them soon. They looked yummy.
-
Susieq58 - I love France! I lived there for one year and then visited Paris and the surrounding towns many times. Paris is fun because of the high fashion but be prepared because back in the 70's the french in Paris were not too crazy about american tourists and were quite rude. However, once you get into the country side - they are so nice.
-
Hey Susie....I'm from Melbourne (Aust.) and we went to Paris last November. It was a bit cool but a great time to go because there were no crowds...walked straight into the Louvre! Are you going anywhere else....Australia is so far from Europe....that plane trip!!! It seems like it will never end...lol
We also went to NYC and England. NYC was by far my most favoorite place.
I'm sure you'll have a ball in Paris....the cake shops are out of this world.

Riley: I love Lidia's Italy - only thing is it makes me hungry to watch it - it's on at I think 9 p.m. so I end up raiding the frig before bed - not a good thing - now I feel like I should make the apricot thingies - oh dear.
3Monstmama - I think you should toast with absinthe - sounds like Elizabeth.
Sandy
-
Jezza - How are you?? I haven't seen you here for ages - you may remember me as SuePen - I changed it for fun. You'll find the girls on this thread very welcoming. We're going to London, Ireland, Scotland and Wales as well - 6 weeks in all. I can't wait for the patisserie - yumm. The primary reason for the trip is as a reward for both of us (DH is a cancer survivor too), but we also have recently welcomed our first grandchild into the family and he's in London - so we're seeing them first and just before we come home.
Jancie - we're not going out of Paris unfortunately but next time I want to.
3monstmama - I hope you have a lovely time - I wish we were getting to spend more time there.
Well girls - all packed - except for toiletries. A couple of my new tops let me off ironing them. I'm sure I've got way too many clothes but at least I'm prepared for cold and warm. I weighed my bag - still under the weight I'd set for us. It makes a difference having ultra light suitcases.
Lunch time - then off to the hairdresser - yippee!!!

have a wonderful trip, enjoy my home country wales!
-
Thanks Juliet!!! I'm looking forward to seeing it and asking someone 'What's occurring' - that's from the TV show Gavin and Stacey
We've got 3 days and 4 nights there. We have a friend in Swansea, so we're hoping he'll show us around. -
must sit down and watch gavin and stacey one day! many trips to barry island as a kid, ps hope you got good rainwear , it was 22c and raining on sunday
-
I confess, it will not be my first time in Paris. I actually avoided France for YEARS because of my own experience with cranky rude French people. But you know, they have gotten much better. Politeness words will take you far. . . .
ahem....my dear ms. susieq58, for your information, I shall also be in Paris on September 8.......We fly back on September 9.....hmmmmmmmmmmmm, i am thinking should we try to meet up for a drink or something? PM me if you are interested......
As far as drinks, absinthe it is!
I shall pack a glass, a shot of absinthe and be diiiiiiizzzzzzyyyy on my cushion. I'm sure the kids won't notice......just give me the precise time so I won't be drinking alone.--- perhaps I can send someone my cell number and you can text me? -
susie -- Have a wonderful, wonderful vacation and enjoy your new grandbaby! I've been to Paris in August -- it will be warm, and Parisiennes go on holiday in August, so the place will be full of tourists instead of the natives. And they do make a habit of being stand-offish (and take some pride in it, IMHO), but don't let them put you off! Such a beautiful, well-planned city -- nearly every vista is beautiful! Thank goodness for digital cameras!
Bon voyage!
P.S. Sorry, I can't remember if you've been there before
-
3monst - I'll PM you
Lindasa - luckily we won't be there until 8th September after the holidays - but I bet there'll still be tourists like 3monstmam and us
A guy form work is also going over around then. Thankyou for your kind wishes - I'm starting to look forward to it now I've got the hard work done.
My hair turned out nicely - will get DH to take a pic.
Sue -
E scromlette? scrambled eggs with veggies mixed in??? That's my favorite meal. Never knew it had a name. Fresh greens ( swiss chard) from garden, chives, red peppers, mostly egg whites. Still haven't gotten a handle on what Arimidex does to my cholesteral level.
SUSIEQ - Ah, Paris. One of the nicest parts about living in London. Just taking the boat across to buy cheap wine. Spent more time in the countryside, than the city, but it is SPECIAL, SPECIAL. So happy for you to be giving yourself &DH this adventure. Take pictures.
-
Good morning everyone!
I've got a busy day ahead, so I better get started on it.
Hope y'all have a great day,
Bren
-
ratatouille.. that sounds good with cod.
dinner!
have a fantastic vacation susie
-
Did someone say cheap wine???
Some of Otter's family members were just frolicking about the Today Show studio, and they were just so stinking cute!
Athena, hope you feel better today. Being sick is simply exhausting. Take care of you.
Susie, I wish you a wonderful vacation full of rest, relaxation and fabulous culinary experiences! Looking forward to hearing about it.
Think I might do a flaming Sambuca with coffee beans in honor of KK. Although we all can't be there in person, we can raise a glass and toast her memory.
Enjoy your day! Special hugs to Libby and hopes for a not so stressful stress test!
-
I went to Paris for my 10th wedding anniversary...like others I didn't want to go because of all the hype about how rude the French were plus how I just couldn't learn the language despite 5 years of French - It was the most wonderful vacation of my life! Everyone from the hotel clerk to the taxi cab drivers to the shopkeepers were just wonderful...Great subway/Train system...and let's not forget Versailles! Amazing...ahhhh- hope those of you that are going to Paris have a wonderful trip...
-
Versailles is quite possibly the most beautiful place I have ever seen - Ever -
-
I agree Versailles is so beautiful!
Today is ironing and laundry day. Yes, I do iron and yes.....I don't mind I just put my ironing board in front of the TV.
At 1 pm I have a lesson on my horse and then back home to do more chores.
This morning did not start well - got a stupid call from a bill collector wanting $162 for an old doctor's bill. Actually it was when I was in the pysch hospital last year and the arrogant $&%^$^ thought he was worth $350 per hour. Insurance paid $180 and they are coming to me for the balance. Bull crap!
The lady said it was going to collections and I told her that I could care less but maybe my dh would care and he would call her back. Heck even the specialists at the hospital don't charge $350 per hour! They guy was an absolute jerk and I didn't like him to begin with.
-
Good morning. Raining here today. Wish they would hurry up and fence my yard. I miss my rose garden! I had a beautiful one in my last home which is now in my son's possession.
Susie, hope you have a great time. I've never been to Paris but it's on my bucket list. Maybe next year. I'm getting better every day and would be able to handle that trip.
I guess today is the day when the database at BCO gets cleaned out. Will be interesting indeed!
-
I'm looking forward to the database cleanup!
Jancie - I had a breast surgeon come after me for a $20 co-pay four years after the fact. I told them I'd paid it and they asked to see my receipt. For reals? A receipt from four years ago? They insisted I pay it and I said well, seeing as how your surgeon completely missed my stage III (at the time) cancer, how about you mark that $20 as paid and I won't sue you? Buttheads.
Nobody's worth $350 an hour! That's $728,000/year! Craziness!
