So you fill in the blanks, Lost Creek - is that how it works?
"I don't want to know how to take out the trash - that's a MAN'S job (ducking for cover
)."'Morning everyone. Horribly humid in this swamp, though less hot, so I can breathe. I have to do some work today, surprise surprise!
-
I don't want to know how to mow teh lawn with the lawn tractor or even how to drive the darn thing. Every new thing I learn to do my DH thinks he can pawn off on me.
I don't want to learn to skydive (the whole perfectly good airplane thing.)
-
That's it Athena. Just fill in whatever, then use Society membership as your reason not to whatever.
So far I haven't had to learn to work on the car, take out the compost, or scrub the man's toilet... among other things.
You don't want to know about our weather (it's a well-kept secret) You're the one who likes G. Shepherds?
ETA: Rosemary, that's another whole sub-section. My DH is like that, only he keeps things running with bubble gum and baling wire, then expects me to know all the quirks. So, I don't.
-
Yes, LC, I like German Shepherds. And Labradors. I had one of each - Camilla and Athena - and I posted some pictures of those beauties many pages ago.
-
German Shepherds are one of the loves of my life. Two wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge, and one 3 1/2 yr old at home - we have 2.5 fenced acres. He is "Gus", and is 135# of smart, and funny. There's a breeder/trainer nearby, who goes to Europe for his dogs, mostly working dogs. truehaus kennels has a website for fun pix. One of these days I'll bite the bullet and learn to post pix (see what I mean about selective incompetency?).
-
Lost_Creek..
What's in Mulvane? My dad's mother was born there.. and she grew up in Wichita... her mother was an Indian.. but I can't remember what kind.
a Seal's training camp?
-
Morning folks. Today will be a pool day followed by going to see DD's band at the local beach bar. Should be fun.
-
Apple, I was born there too, and my mom, and my grandma, and my corn-fed roots.
-
I don't want to know how to cook. That's why God made restaurants.
My sisters and mom and I kidnapped another sister for her birthday. We told her we were going to watch the Ravens practice but instead ended up in NYC. We saw "Hair" on Broadway then went to dinner. Great fun, though exhausting!
Horrible news about our Navy SEALs. We need to stop being the self-appointed World Policemen and get the heck out of there.
-
Sounds like a blast, enjoyful! Are you still in NYC, or back home?
Totally agree that it's past time to bring the troops home.
With respect to L_C's Society, my entry would be, "I don't want to know how to fix a flat tire on a bicycle."
I'm quite content standing by helplessly while someone else brings out the little repair kit (because, once you know how to fix a flat, you're then obligated to carry tools and a pump and a spare tube with you on every ride, which is a PITA in and of itself) and does the work. There: I've said it, and I'm no longer ashamed! Whew!
L
-
It was a day trip only, lewing. Hence the exhaustion!
Did y'all know that "Hair" has full frontal nudity in it? I mean.....jeez. I thought my 85 yr old mom would be horrified, but she wanted to get up on stage and dance with them. If she'd been sitting on the aisle, she would have!
-
That's hilarious. About that same age, my mom started wanting to talk about her great-sex days...
-
TMI!!! Hahahaha! Moms are so funny.
Barb - I got the grape seed extract capsules and I've been taking them. They must be doing something since my hot flashes have doubled. :-D
-
I don't want to ever learn how to wrestle an alligator! Or wrangle a snake! Or ride a camel! I'm quite happily prepared to be totally incompetent at all of the above.
-
We're off to the lake in a little bit. It's hot and humid, but lots of clouds to cool things a bit.
I never want to be competent on the weedwacker. I don't even want to know how to turn it on. It's big, heavy and gas powered, and if I ever learned to work it, I would have even more chores outside! I can cook, but would rather not ... so I plead ignorance!
Enjoyful, sounds like a fun packed day. I can't remember the name of the show I saw, but it had full frontal nudity too. What a hoot, a bunch of guys dancing at the end! It was about a bunch of working class men in England who were trying to find job. Can anyone remember the name of the show?
Ewww .. I don't want to hear about my mom's sex life. I guess she was in her mid 50's when divorced from my dad. She later met a sheriff and started dating him. I'll never forget the time she told me he was very "virile." ughh.
Hope you guys are enjoying your Sunday,
Bren

Did anyone ever see "Oh Calcutta"? We saw it in London, on our delayed honeymoon........
-
I don't want to know how to start a push lawnmower. The John Deere is fine, though.
-
Bren: LOL at your reaction to your mom's comment! I would be the same way. Thank goodness my parents never had sex in their lives.
L
-
Thanks Cindy ... I don't know why the name escaped me .. it's so obvious! The show was great, but at the end they had heavy duty backlights so you couldn't see any weiners.

We had a nice time at the lake, also visited the local dam and an area called the Reserve, which is all log cabins for sale. Some really cute cabins like the one I owned in Utah .. but just not enough property to go with them. I guess they were on about 1/16 of an acre lots in the woods. Nice place, just not my cup of tea stuck in the middle of the woods. I need more space than that!
We're having burgers for dinner and a salad. Good thing, too, I'm starting to get hungry.
hugs to everyone,
Bren

Yes and my kids think Hal and I had sex seven times, once for each of them. Parent sex is so gross.
ETA: But how we all got here.
-
I don't think so Rosemary ... I'm pretty sure I was immaculate conception versus the standard method! ha!
I can't even think about parent sex, even three times for my folks. eww.

Morning girls!!! No work today!!!
Sorry for my comment on the war - I wasn't trying to go in to the political side of it - we lose troops too but nowhere near as many as you do. I get really upset as we keep getting boat loads of Afghans illegals arriving here - young men who could fight for their country, but who choose to come here and end up living off the tax payers.
I saw Hair back in the 70's when it toured Oz. Those were the days

Anyone want to do my ironing for the trip? DH has suddenly decided he needs new pants and wants to go shopping for them today. Good grief - this is a man who takes no interest in his clothes at all and now, suddenly because we're cashed up - wants to shop???
Sue
-
Knowing my mother, I'm sure it was only twice.
-
Lost_Creek.. I'll come up with her maiden name in a bit. dang.. my brain is like toast.
-
O.M.G. Sue how much luggage are you taking with you? I don't have an ironing board, so I can't help you with the ironing. When I was little I ironed for the neighbors to make some extra money. Five cents per pillow case!
Thanks funny that your DH waited until the last minute to do his shopping!
hugs,
Bren
-
Ironing? People still iron? Imagine that. Hhhhmmnn..it's right up there with vacuuming for me. I DO have a vacuum cleaner in the basement, where it's been since I moved her 5 years ago. AND, I did take an iron to a craft class I was doing a few years ago. I also have a hairdryer - for using when I'm watercolor painting.
That's about the list of my appliances. No, I don't go around naked. T shirts in the summer, tnecks & long sleeve t shirts in the winter.
Ironing? bleah......
-
I usually only iron something when I need it, although I do DH's work shirts. I only iron when we are going away as it fits in better. How much am I taking? I don't know - 6 weeks is a long time - help!!
DH decided to go and buy a book to take on the plane yesterday - came home with 2 books - one for me which I already own. Plus he went to an expensive book shop when our BigW (Walmart type store) is so much cheaper. Now I'll have to try and get a refund on one of them - he is SO naive. I didn't stop him going as I thought he wanted something non fiction. If I'd known he'd end up with fiction, I would have stopped him going there. Lucky I don't let him do the shopping - we'd be broke

-
Miss Poppy likes me being home - she's back in her little bed and I covered her up - big purrs. She's not very affectionate but rested her head on my hand and I could feel the rumbles. I'm going to miss her so much (:
Our DD is coming to stay for 2 1/2 weeks, she will then take Miss P to the vet to board before she goes home. I've got a list to write for her (garbage days etc) and have threatened her with a terrible fate is she burns the house down. I do have to acknowledge she is now 32 and might have grown up, but based on past behaviour - not sure.
-
Susieq - can I still call you that? I admire your discipline with ironing - never my strong suit.
As for our esteemed OP, (((blue))) you are still blue to me, with all the positives the name conveys.
E - what a wonderful outing.
My mother is a virgin. Maybe she participated in some sort of immaculate conception three times (three girls) but that's it - that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Once, when we were all in our thirties, my mother apparently though we were old enough to hear her say that she and my father had a good sex life. One of my sisters and I turned on her and said, "That is TMI!!!" She was so offended. Funny how mothers come out of the closet as non virgins so late in life, isn't it?

-
My mom is also a virgin. My father, on the other hand, would do anything that moved. Imagine that...NOT!!!
Can't wait until next Saturday!
