Coolairheights, rest, hope you feel more energetic soon - pat, pat, pat to Virgil

(((((((((coolairheights)))))))))) Rest up, sweetie!

Sunflowers - It's not something I would normally do, that's for sure. It made packing the bag so much easier. Now DH needs a pair of pants I put in at the bottom!!! Got to try and slide them out without disturbing the other stuff. He's golfing today and it's supposed to be a bit colder so he wants long pants - I should just ignore him and let him wear shorts. Just checked - it will be 22C - that's not cold

Libby - glad they got your aircon going again.
Our dollar fell - lucky I got those cash cards loaded last week.
Sue
-
The U.S. dollar is down to $1.0112 to Canadian. That's a 5 cent drop in the last couple of weeks.
Sue .. glad to hear you got your cash cards loaded before the dollar fell any lower. I think I'd make DH wear shorts too after all that ironing and packing! Is he going to golf up until the minute you board the airplane? Ha! I'm the only one in my family who is not an avid golfer.
Blue .. I sure hope you get your energy level back. Hope all is okay with you.
Athena .. Are you feeling any better? Do you have the flu? Worried about you.
Kira .. sounds like a fun time on the boat! I would love to be there right now. It's 100 degrees out and the heat index is at 106. arghhh.
hugs,
Bren

Bren - looks like he is - this is his regular Tuesday game - got to wake him up soon.
-
Athena - I did make excellent progress.
-
Are you all eating dinner?
-
Yep .. I'm having a chicken salad sandwich and diet pepsi ... too dang hot for anything else!

Intruder alert!!! Miss Poppy spotted a visitor cat and jumped out of her warm bed to investigate. Poor sweety - no way, I'll let her out to chase. She's sitting at the back door in hope.

Fava beans on jasmine rice.

Ironing? Whats that?????? See this is why my clothing is all made of knit hemp or linen and cotton that hangs out. . .okay there are a couple of shirts that are improved by ironing but that only happens when DH catches me going out the door in them.

And Nothing I Ever Wear to travel in requires use of an Iron. Not. Ever.
That said, you buy new golf balls to share with new golffy friends, don't you? Like marking the golf course "I have been here!!!"

Market situation SAD SAD SAD. Can't say we weren't all warned what would happen if people didn't grow up and do the right thing. Doubt anyone will learn from it.....
Not checking exchange rates. Leaving in about 2 weeks and theres nothing I can do so why stress by checking rates.
Made apricot jam this weekend---think it turned out well. Will be making a bit more with youngest monster tonight. It will be nice when apricot time is over to be able to open a jar or two of jam.
-
3montsmama - I hate ironing but it does help when packing. My mother only buys polyester clothes and complains about cotton etc - "but it needs ironing". I prefer cotton/linen. Where are you off to?
Just transferred more money to my account from DH's, so I can put more money on the cash cards tomorrow - might be a lesser exchange rate but just in case it goes even lower. Have to do it that way as I avoid commission if I do it at the bank I work for and it's quicker than BPaying out of his account. I'm glad I took my retirement funds out of shares.
Poppy back in her bed - she finally gave up on the intruder.

Little stressed out this week-my MIL had a medical crisis that is probably going to cause her to have to move from assisted living into either a adult family care home or nursing care. She's stable now, but not very happy to be in the situation she's in. I told my husband-she has the easy part-she just has to do her best to get better-the rest of us have to decide what to do with all of her stuff! She's not the most pleasant of people in the best of circumstances.
My own mom has a small stress fracture in her back and she's not happy either!
I can't even watch TV anymore with all the stock market stuff-it stresses me out too much.
Beautiful day here in Seattle, though!

YramAL, Sorry about all the stress this week. It is so hard when our families are in crisis. I totally understand having to place someone when they would rather be no there had to do that last year.
I try not to look at the stock market. It was so hard a few years ago. I have decided this time I will not watch.
-
Thanks kira-I don't even know why the stock market stresses me out so much. I don't have anything personally invested. I think it's just the overall negative feeling out there.
Mary
-
Mary .. I'm sorry you've had such a stressful week. You've got a lot going on right now with your MIL and your mom.
Keeping you in my thoughts,
Bren
-
Hey girls - how long until your special lunch for Elizabeth? - have a drink on me while you're there.
-
Sue .. it's this coming Sunday. The U.S. gals are all leaving on Saturday to meet up in Buffalo and Niagra on the Lake. We're all staying at the same place. Sure wish you could join us!
Bren
-
Great - I hope you have a good time - instead we've got riots in London to face - crap.
-
Now, I'm definitely going to get dressed and attack that ironing - catch you later

-
yramAL I am sorry about your MIL. And about the going through stuff. I have too much familiarity with all that.

we are off to france. In keeping with people talking about mothers and MILs, the trip is with my mother. She wanted to do something with her grandchildren. Her first choice was a cruise.....blech. Over the last couple of years, she has not had good health and hasn't seen them other than skype. . . .no, we haven't visited. . .not planning to either but thats not for a public forum......
Anyrate.,she found this trip that she wanted to do--that involves her seeing things on her bucket list--- and all I can say is this "free" trip is costing me a fortune. I will not bore you with the hours I spent looking or airline tickets at a reasonable cost. Or train tickets ( which has reared its ugly head again) Did I mention I don't speak French????
Now mind you, a big hunk of the tour has a guide involved doing, well you know, guidey things. Only Mom doesn't really want to bother the guide with her questions (why should she when she has ME!!!!!) . And I cann't push on the guide because hey, I'm not the bill payer. So this afternoon, the guide tells my mother that WE need to get on line and get tickets to visit this one thing that my mother really really really really wants to see.....gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Did mom tell guide oh I really really really want to see X say, back in MAY when she paid for the last of the trip or even in JUNE when we would have been sure to get tickets? Nope. Did guide ask is there anythng you really really don't want to miss? nope not really.
If my mother were as "go with the flow" as she thinks she is, this would not be a problem. But she isn't.
Do I need a hefty glass of gin bubbles? youbetcha......
-
Mmmm... I made ratatouille ...mmm
The rest of dinner was okay but I love ratatouille.
-
Just got off the phone with my SIL who says that her mom doesn't want us packing any of her stuff. We're doing it anyway-she's in nursing care right now and more than likely will never know. if by some miracle she does get to go back to her apartment, I guess we'll deal with it then.
Aargh.
Mary
-
Hello everyone!
Rosemary, I love ratatouille too.
Tonight DH and I shared a small steak, red skin potatoes, zuchinni, yellow squash, green peppers and cucumbers. Also yum.
-
Mary, sorry you're in the middle of such a difficult time.
-
I told my husband thank goodness she doesn't have a house anymore. It would be like an episode of "Hoarders" for sure! A studio apartment will be bad enough.
-
If everyone going to the Elizabeth Event could tell those of us who can't make it a time--just give us an East Coast time---, we could all lift a glass whereever we are at the same time and toast to Elizabeth..................
-
((( Mary )))
Edited: 3Mons .. lunch is around noon or 12:30 p.m.
-
BinVa, thanks for the info on the for the lift a glass to Elizabeth. Oh how I wish I could be there.
-
I wish you could be there too Kira .. we'd have a blast. My roommate is going to Barbara! yay!
