    Hey Bren~

We just got back from the lake!

The kids love jumping off their Uncle's boat...much more fun than the swimming pool.

Athena - I'm no compulsive ironing person - you should see my ironing basket - some clothes have been in there for years :)

I am certain that my mom never had sex.  When I was 8 or 9 (or 10?), she gave me a pencil-and-paper explanation of the birds and the bees.  Her explanation was so vague and inaccurate that neither the birds nor the bees would ever have reproduced if they'd followed her description.

She also tried to make sure my sister and I were shielded from the knowledge that anyone or anything else ever had sex.  We were told to avert our eyes if our ducks happened to chase each other around the yard, or a couple of sparrows jumped each other on the clothesline, or -- heaven forbid -- the neighbor's dog got excited at the sight of a nice-looking pants leg.

The only time I was ever slapped hard across the face (as opposed to being swatted) was when, at age 13, I mentioned that I didn't think everyone who had premarital sex was bad, because, after all, my dear grandparents (my mom's parents) were pregnant when they got married.  Ouch!

[I was going to tell another story but I've decided it would be safer to stop there.]

I just got back from my DD's.  Spent the whole day with my GS.  THey are going away for a couple weeks and I wanted to spend some time with him.  He is sooooooo sweet!

My parents never had sex either.  The stork visited our home 4 times.

    Athena, blue will return.

my mom drew a picture of a hot dog thing to explain sex.  i was sooooooo grossed out.  Even after 9 children.. 2 of them still virgins.. i guarantee it, she was a virgin.

I love to iron and own mostly linen so it needs an iron unless I hang it up still damp.

When I was a kid I was paid 25 cents an hour to iron for my mother... I actually loved it, the smell, the way the clothes transformed. she would sprinkle them with water and put them into the ironing basket that was never empty.

I also babysat for a lady who paid me 40 cents an hour but hardly ever paid and that was ok.. she had 7 kids and her husband ran out on her.. She was vaguely beautiful.. plump and brown from Hawaii.. Josie was her name.  Her children were beautiful too.   She owes me like 200 bucks, but she is now deceased.

Well, we're not getting very far going shopping. DH is now drinking coffee. I just went and got the pool water tested - don't have to add much to it before we go - I'll do that when I get paid on Wed. Lucky it's a salt water pool and we have the cover on at the moment. I swept all the leaves off the cover yesterday and DH swept up around the pool - so it looks good.

Talking to the pool shop people - so sad - their 12 month old grandson has some strange type of cancer in his mouth and liver. He's having chemo - how on earth does this happen to babies - it just breaks my heart.

Sewing nut - want to come and do mine? please?

For me, Iron is a nasty 4 letter word...not big on vacuuming either...and really, I'll cook, but I'm not happy about that either...

But! I love to read, and decorate houses (I'm an interior designer) and I like to do laundry...and sew and paint and play on the computer...Mac Air, IPad...becoming more and more familiar with Apple products...not too bad considering I learned to type on a manual typewriter...

Susie down under...wow! A 6 week vacation? That sounds like heaven! Hope you have a great holiday...

My parents had old people sex...mom was 42 and dad was 51 (yikes) when I was born...and I was number 4 - not change of life I have a brother only two years older...

Hope everyone had a nice weekend...

Ritaz - yes it's a big reward to both of us as my DH had bowel cancer with mets in the lung (doing well 4 years after lung surgery) and I've had 2 lots of bc within 12 mths of each other. We deserve it!!!

Well DH got some pants - nice ones, then we had to go to the golf shop to buy studs and golf balls. I swear he has multiple boxes of golf balls - why new ones to go away with ?

And I still haven't started ironing. Lunch next, then hopefully he'll go to work and I can do some.

Hi Apple - I live in Brisbane in Queensland. I'm still up but going to bed shortly - all worn out from packing DH's clothes and ironing today. My stuff tomorrow!! I'm looking forward to relaxing at the hairdresser tomorrow afternoon. I'll get DH to take a new photo, so I can change my avatar. I like to put new hairdos on here. Can't wait to get it cut - it's getting pretty bushy again.

OK, I'll post ... the air conditioning in my office building is out.  I work on the 23rd floor -- and my office faces south.  It is 86 in my office right now -- up from 85 when I came in an hour ago.  The sun isn't even shining on my windows yet.  I have vowed that when the thermostat hits 90 in my office, I'm going home.

It is MUCH nicer outside than it is inside.  Open the windows?  Great idea, and my office building was even equipped with windows that open -- UNTIL THE NEW MANAGEMENT COMPANY FOR THE BUILDING SEALED THEM CLOSED LAST YEAR!

    *SIGH*  Happy Monday.

Libby, they probably sealed them to protect themselves from the lawsuits when unhappy abused workers decided to take the plunge.

Go home, pour a drink, and relax.  You certainly deserve to!

Saw a high of 85 with a low of 63 projected for Wednesday!  Going to do my happy dance!

HL - What a nightmare. You should leave now.

I did stay home from work today. How I loathe being ill.

Susie, it sounds as though you made tremendous progress.

Actually, they got the a/c back on ... it is "only" 81 in here now, but I have an air handler in my office so it should cool off faster than other offices.

    I hate summer.  Tongue out

I"m still chuckling at Susie ironing POLO SHIRTS - now that is devotion!  Hope you have a wonderful hols - take lotsa pictures for us.

Shaking my head, as stock market does its silly dance - S&P downgrade.  Now really, WHY in H would anyone with 1/3 of a brain, react to anything S&P does - that wonderful organization which "rated" those JUNK MORTGAGE BONDS AAA, cuz they were being PAID by their clients( Goldman, Banks, etc), who wanted to sell the bonds to their "clients" - oooohh,,,,, bettter get offline - I do feel a SCREAM creeping up!!!!   Aaauugghhhhhhhhhh.....

Hi all just got back from the weekend. Barbara thanks for the pix's. It was so fun meeting everyone. We went on a boat trip yesterday. We rented a sailboat and her crew to take us on a day tour. It was so relaxing. I even got the DH to relax.

coolairheights, How your just tired and not sick. Take care.

    Athena hope you feel better.

pip57, I rarely iron anymore, but you are right it can be therapeutic, not sure about relaxing.
