We came home the before the storm, luckily we missed it completely.  DS & DIL have come through a severe dust storm in that area and they were truly unnerved.

Eph, one thing you cannot do is change the title of a thread, so it has been cold outside every day for over a year and a half!

I can't imagine being in a storm like that! It was scary looking enough on tv. It's so dang hot and humid right now in Va you can hardly breathe outside!

It may not be cold outside but I still like the name of this thread, it makes me feel a little cooler.  I'm not complaining though because I'm the one who complains all winter about the cold.  This is the most 90 and above days we've had in Mid-Michigan in over 20 years!  Stay cool everyone.

Lol. Me too Suz. The topic title gives me hope that it will soon cool off. Somewhat of a reprive today - heat index is only 103!

The inside of my greenhouse was 108.6 yesterday.  Needeless to say I didn't spend too much time in there.  I put a small shade screen above one of my tropcal plants in there, and it brought the temp down 3 degrees.  I was so excited over 3 degrees!

For some stupid reason I decided to do a big outdoor project yesterday.  Luckily I remembred the sunscreen, but my back is really dark.  I ended up going inside and sitting in a cool tub.

Hope I'm not off topic too much here, but what survives in the greenhouse in those temps? I love my plants and they are my therapy right now. My dinner plate dahlias are having so much trouble with this heat. They are so beautiful, I hate to loose them!

Today it was hot above 90 then we had showers come through this afternoon around 1:00 and the temp dropped to 80.

90's with heat index over 100 for a week, today temps in the 60's with rain showers.  Feels really cold.  Gotta love variable weather!

Not off topic at all, it all revolves around the temps.

I have a tomato plant in my greenhouse that has been nearing since January.  I don't usually move stuff around if it has been in the same position durint te warmer months.  Many plants get used to their position and deal with the sun according to that position.

I have an array of succulents, adeniums, and bonsai and the occasional philodendron. lilacs and ferns. It is wonderful therapy, I can get lost in my little world for hours out there.  I have fabricated an automated misting system which also keeps the green house cooler and humidified.

We actually have a cool front that came through yesterday with the showers (I think I got about 1.25 inches of rain Laughing) and temps are expected to stay below 90. right now at 10:30 weather.com says it is 82 with a heat index of 86 and 20% chance of rain today. heat and humidity is due back tomorrow Yell.

Meece, I have some tomatoes that we planted back behind our barn. The horses aren't pastured there but it's close to the manure pile and the soil is so fertile that everyone says our tomatoes are on steriods!! Some, when sliced are larger than the piece of bread. An excellent taste as well. I thought surely we would sacrifice taste for size. Nope!

Our soil isn't very good.  We have brought in compost and it does help.  Glad you got some rain.  On Saturday our county had a severe thunderstorm warning for about an hour in the afternoon.  Where we live, the sky didn't have a single cloud!

Yesterday morning it was overcast and muggy, but in the afternoon it was just plain HOT!

Our weather has really been unseasonalbly mild.  Yes, we are getting 100 plus days, but it beats the 110-112 days of last August!

The coast of NC is getting hammered by Irene. Pray for those in the path of Irene. My niece is stationed in Virginia Beach and didn't evaucate.

We have beautiful sunny skies with some light clouds and some wind from Irene, but no rain in the mtns.

When Irene hit the Outerbanks of NC, they got plenty of rain and wind with some damage to the coast. They were hit with heavy rains for a 24 hour period. The head of FEMA said 'the only thing that we have control over was loss of life, if you are in an evacuation area, please evacuate so there would be less loss of life.' I thought it was a good quote. There were several people who lost their life in NC because of the storm.

Whe have had another warm weekend.  DH and I went outdoors Saturday to trim trees and it was dreadfully hot.  it was well over 103 at 7:30 in the evening.  We had some sprinkles Friday afternoon which made it muggy all weekend.

Praying for those who were in the path of Irene.

We had quite a light show on Friday and Saturday with dry lightling at first then a short cloudburst of 16/100 of rain.  Over 40 fires were started within our county from these lightning strikes since we are so dry from a hot summer.  A friend went up into the mountain area in the evening and said it looked like lava flows glowing.

The weather this year is just plain wierd and dangerous, the southeastern part of NY is just drenched with people losing everything.  Makes me wonder what this winter will bring to us?  Karen

The 16/100 is the first rain for this years rain measurement.  Our season is July 1st through June 30th. Last winter was wet for us, and I too, wonder what this one holds ahead.

Well, Maine's hit that time of year.  Warm and muggy during the day--I'm currently sweating like a work horse (no way to call it a 'glow'), needed a comforter during the night.  Pretty, pretty days, though!

We got 1/2 inch of rain on Tuesday but the temps were down and skies were blue yesterday.  Only in the 70s but beautiful!

Today is supposed to be in the 80s which should be nice since after work we are going out on a "koi rescue" and getting wet in 70 degree weather isn't my idea of fun!
