LIsa, San Diego has fabulous weather. But I love my FL weather. If it's hot, I take more clothes off.

Well, today I am feeling just about normal again.  Came home from work at noon on Tuesday, boss said he would do my afternoon since I only had one patient, then I decided to take off yesterday and today they don't have me scheduled til 2.  So it will be a bad pay week, but I must have needed the R&R because I feel much better.   Everyone kept saying I overdid it with the yard work and I probably did, but the aches I felt were more like the ones I had with the neulasta( and yes I did take my claritin) than normal overworked muscles. And the feeling of an elephant sitting on my chest and having something big stuck in my esophagus that wouldn't go down....well, that was due to the fact the pharmacy would not refill my nexium because even though I had a refill the ins co said they needed a new authorization for the dr and this was on a weekend so I had to call the onco's office on Monday and then they had to call the ins co and the ins co had to call the pharmacy.  Tues evening the pharmacy called and told me it was OKed, but I did not feel like rushing over there before they closed so I did not get my nexium until yesterday and I am now positive it does a good job, because I did not feel very well off of it at all.  Pre-chemo I had a cast iron stomach and nothing bothered it.  Feeling sort of crappy stunk worse than usual since this was my week off of chemo....went for my INR check yesterday and even though it was 3.2, he is going to keep me on the dose of warfarin I am on because it goes up and down so much.

Anyway, I spent most of yesterday sitting in the sun reading....at this stage of the game I am not worried about melanoma and also the wrinkles are already there and I feel much better when I have some color....especially now that I have the white hair.  And I do have hair....thin, but it is there and the shedding seems to have stopped altogether so what I am left with is very fine and thin and when I get up in the morning, I look like Albert Einstein.  I am going to wait awhile and see what it does and if it starts growing back (which I know many said it does while still on halaven), I will go get it cut shorter.

3jays, I am soooooo happy and relieved that you are finally getting some results from talking with your doctors and am praying that thyroid meds make you feel better.

The weather here has been beautiful.....the rain cooled things off and even though it is hot, it is not humid and yesterday was beautiful and today promises to be the same.  So hopefully all those flowers I planted after that jerk we hired ripped up what were already there will thrive.  There was this one sunny patch left so I planted basil, English thyme, dill, oregano, and a cantaloupe.  It said 85 days on the melon so that means I should be able to eat one in Sept.

Anyone with exciting plans for the 4th? Since my boss decided not to work on Tues. I am going to have an exceptionally long weekend and am not going to my Dad's til Sunday.  Even though I love gourmet food, I have been craving a hot dog so am going to suggest we grill.  I love coconut and have had that icecream you are talking about Barb.....had a coupon for it last year and as I recall the one I got had almond in it?...really can't recall, but it was sinfully delicious and I ate the entire carton. However, I am not a huge fan of ambrosia....it reminds me of jello and other dishes that my grandmother and her friends used to make.

I am going to check out the SSdisablity again since I find I do not mind being off work as much as I thought I would....actually enjoy being able to read and do nothing if I feel like it.  So I think it is time to get the wheels rolling on this and maybe then I can start doing some traveling with my new passport.

    Have a great day everyone.

Marty and I are driving to Miami Beach to visit my maid of honor and her beau. She lives in a 25 story high condo and the rooftop pool desk has awesome views of South Beach and downtown Miami as well as other coastal towns. Should be great for fireworks viewing. I will see if we can make time to stop and see Cherie on Tuesday when we head back!

Marybe, so glad you're feeling better. And I know what you mean about hot dogs...we really do try to eat healthy stuff, bad stuff only occasionally, but now and then a hot dog just seems right. I'm sure there will be one or two on my weekend menu!!  We're heading to the shore midday tomorrow. We both have a half day, so hub will come pick me up once he's done work and on the road we'll be. Probably with thousands of others, but I don't care...once I'm out of my building and know that I don't have to go back till Wed morning, I'll be a happy camper. Ha - a little unintended pun - I'll  be a happy camper at my camper :)

I wish you all some relaxing times this weekend, maybe a little time with friends, a cool beverage of your choice, or for those who are northwest and still chilled, a hot toddy of your choosing. Enjoy, buds.

Marybe - glad you are feeling almost normal again.  I love hot dogs and have not had one in forever, think I will add that to the menu for the 4th.

GramE - hope you enjoy the bar-b-que and especially the ice cream in this hot weather.  I am glad there is someplace you can go to and celebrate the day.

BarbA - You and Marty have a good time and be careful on the road. There are a lot of crazies out there.

Lisa and Marlegal - have a wonderfule holiday and enjoy the hamburgers, hot dogs and all the other things we really do love, even thoug we probably should not have.  I plan on having my share of both.

GREAT news, Marlegal!  That's such a relief--happy for you!

Eph, I'm the same way about hamburgers--love them.  My favorite way to make them is probably not too familiar to anybody here but maybe AmyJo.  I like a relatively thin patty, cheese, slaw, chili, and yes, onions, mustard and catsup.  It's the Carolina way, and if you say you want your cheeseburger "all the way" that's what you get!  Glad you enjoyed yours so much, Lisa!

Barb, that's a lovely picture.  Thanks!

We don't have plans for the 4th as far as I know now.  DS's MIL is coming to spend the holiday with them and we normally don't see them when she comes because we think she needs some GS time for herself!  Haven't heard yet what DD's plans are, and although we'll see her over the weekend, I imagine she'll spend the 4th with friends. So, I'm hoping for a quiet weekend, just me and DH.

Hope everyone has a happy 4th of July!

    Kathy

Kathy, I am familiar with the NC way to make hamburgers, BUT I am from TEXAS and we do our burgers a whole different way.  I like a big fat jucy patty with pickles, home grown tomatoes, onions, cheese, bacon, and just a little lettuce with BBQ sauce and mustard.  On the side you have baked beans, home cut fries and gallons of sweet tea. YUMMMMMMMMMMM.

    BarbA, love the sunset picture.

Hope everyone has a happy safe 4th of July.

I like turkey burgers as much as hamburgers.....like both of them with cheese, pickle, mustard, a little bit of onion, lettuce and tomato....I can take or leave the mayo, but NO catsup.....I do not like catsup on my burgers, but oddly enough like it on my fries.

So tonight Tim says to me, If you don't care I don't think I will go with you, I will just look after things here.  Yeh, that's about right look, but won't do anything.  So it will just be me and Harley making the trip.....he's my little buddy.   The other two will stay here since hauling all three along with me is a bit much.

Hope everyone has a Happy 4th of July.  The big fireworks display they have in Cincinnati is Labor Day, but they will also have some here for the 4th both downtown and in various neighborhood communities.  And of course they will be having some at home (funny how I still call it that), but I usually don't want to go....think going with him to the band concert will be enough to make my father happy.

OK Lisa, I'll take two of those burgers, but like for Marybe hold the catsup (on bread = ugh).. And I just ate dinner and am full, so that's a real good looking hamburger!

I spent the day baking - for a local kids' charity bake sale tomorrow, and while I was at it, baked and froze cookie dough, 2 kinds, and baked & froze a cinnamon coffee cake for when we have guests later in the month...

    hamburgers

My favorite hamburger is made a little like a meat loaf. To your ground beef add some bread crumbs, egg, a little dry mustard, a splash of worchester, a bit of finely chopped onion and form into patties. Add cheese toward the end of cooking.  Grill and serve on buns lightly toasted on the grill. Big beefsteak tomatoes, ketchup, lettuce complete the picture.

I posted earlier and it went into cyber space --ggrrrrr. I have to think about dinner especially with all this talk of food.

Have been out seeing MiL, we took her out for lunch and a drive. Now DH is mowing the lawn, actually I think he may have finished.

So must go and investigate the deep freezer.

    Have a great weekend.
