Brigadoon, thank you so much for the link to Adam Lambert, I jhaven't heard that song sung so well since the original in the movie......beautiful! I have always loved his voice and that song just prooved to me that I was right......under the fluff of pop rock there lays a voice that anyone would be proud to have!
-
I know. I love his voice too. He has perfect pitch and his ability to sustain a note is phenomenal. On Youtube that, Sam Cooke singing "Change Gonna Come" and Tommy Emmanuel and Jake Shimabukuro playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". are my go to views.
-
I did play tennis in this heat, silly me
-
You are having quite a heat wave, too, Lisa.
-
Lisa-you are very stylish for being slightly whacked out of the head for playing tennis in the heat!
-
Lisa - I can feel my skin melting now. You, however, look fabulous!
-
Here's a pic of me and my absolutely wonderful DH, Marty. Sorry had no makeup on.
-
Barbara, I wish there were a "like" button
-
BarbaraA - Who needs makeup when you have blue-eyes like that?
-
Barb, you don't need make-up to look absolutely beautiful! You two look so happy, I just love it!
Thanks for the exquisite rose, Lisa. and you know you really shouldn't play tennis in this hot weather!
Quiet days around here, mostly, well except when GS decides to show us what being two is all about. He talks constantly and I do wish I could understand what he's saying!
DD is totally, sloppy, besotted in love--it's early, but I've never seen her like this before. We used to see her and certainly would talk on the phone at least daily, but not now. She's otherwise occupied. I'm so glad to see this and fervently hope he's "the one" she deserves. She had a dreadful first marriage lasting 2 years, and that was 2 years too long. He was gay, and the marriage was never consummated. We were able to get it annulled legally. She was left with substantial debt which we've helped her with, and she's been able to hold onto her house, which fortunately was in her name only. I believe he wanted the marriage to eliminate any suspicion that he was gay, since he's a teacher and alternative lifestyles are not often condoned in this section of the country. I personally believe anybody can live as they wish, but don't play with my daughter's heart or you'll have a formidable foe in me!
Gotta go watch Nancy Grace. (Surprised she hasn't needed to be sedated yet.)

Lisa - the rose is beautiful. Why on earth would you play tennis in the heat? You know that is asking for trouble.
BarbA - You rock girlfriend even without makeup. You and Marty are so cute together, I am so happy you have him to come home to from the not so fun job. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Kathy - So sorry your DD had to go through so much with the "flake", but hopefully this time will be the true one and only for her.
I am off to bed as soon as I catch up on me other thread. Hope everyone has a restful night.

Barb, hte no makeup thing ... we have a trailer at a campground (I believe you've all seen pics by now!!) and I never wear makeup on weekends. I wear it 5 days a week for work, and one time at the shore I saw someone at an affair with makeup and said to hub "she looks so different with makeup". Then I realized that most of the people there never saw ME with makeup!!!! Since I wear it 5 days a week, that's how I see myself ...I laughed when I put myself in another's shoes, looking at me, and had a "duh" moment
-
P.S. Barb - you seriously don't need makeup with a face like that
-
Thanks, Mary but you have to be kidding.
Well, DH's band got rained out last night. They play on this covered patio and the place got totally flooded out. We had a monsoon yesterday. It started Thursday night around 7 and kept on going. It was at least 4 inches. Finally stopped late last night and I can see the sun a bit this morning. Whew. Well, it is the rainy season in FL.
-
Philly suburbs got whacked last night too, and my daughter at my shore home in Cape May Beach said it was ridiculous down there....................well my new garden on my front lawn needed the water, so I'm not complaining about home, but who wants rain down the shore.......................We're kind of tired of our heatwaves here................and another one is coming....................hugs
-
Well, the sun is peeking out in between showers but at least we do see some sun today. Yesterday was crazy with constant pouring rain.
-
ducky and BarbA - can you send some rain to my house? It is raining all around us bet we are not getting a drop! Our poor yard and garden are dying in this heat and our do not want to even think about how high our water bill will be.
-
BarbaraA, are you on FB? Did you hear about the gathering in November at Barefoot Beach Resort (Indian Shores, FL)? Anyone reading htis post is most welcome to come ... we went there two yrs ago and it's an awesome property and the women going, including me, are not too shabby either!!!
Would love to meet some of my "boards" buddies ... I've met lots of "chat" buddies, that's how we started these gatherings, but they are by no means restricted to chat members. If you want more info, send me an email .. mcsorbar @ rcn.com (wihtout those spaces, I put them in!!

Yes, Mary, I am friends with Elaine and am going to provide shuttle service if needed. I live a few miles south on the beach. What were the dates? I am on a cruise from 10/30 - 11/6. Hope that will work out.

I just got back from the hospital where my Lee had surgery this AM. It turned out much better than they thought since the PS thought she was going to have to remove the implant to get rid of the infection, but when she opened up the incision line she found that the infection had not gone through the tissue covering the implant so she just cleaned things up and closed her back up and now she will be on antibiotics for a week or two. Again she won't be able to lift anything over 5 lbs for about 6 wks, but she is just so thankful they didn't have to take the implant out. This was on the radiated side so the dr felt that maybe that contributed to the problem. You met Lee when we were in Florida so you know who I am talking about Barb. Also I have posted on here about her before....she is the one who had the lobular BC. So tonight I am taking them dinner. I feel so bad for her because in her case it seems if something can go wrong it does....port caused problems from the start, she had a blood clot, the radiation really distorted her breast, and now this. I sure do hope she has smooth sailing from here on it, but I am sure that if her DH even mentions her getting nipples, she is going to blow up and I would not blame her one bit.
-
Prayers going up for Lee. She is very sweet.
-
Prayers here, too. I'm glad it went well for her, Marybe.
Spent a busy day making pickles. Yesterday DS and DIL gave us some cucumbers from their garden, so used those and bought some to supplement. Now we're at the soaking stage and will can them tomorrow during GS's nap, otherwise tomorrow night. I don't particularly enjoy making them, but everybody in the family enjoys them after I do!
DD still head over heels and I do hope this works out for her. Poor thing has been through the wringer and she deserves some happiness! Fingers crossed.
Kathy
-
Marybe, Prayer for Lee here too.
Kathy, the things we do for our families - bet you enjoy the pickles after they are done too! It is a lot of work, but they do taste good when they are done. Prayers for you DD too. You take care of yourself.
-
marybe; im so glad Lee had good results, and missed the missle.. and, if her husband even tries to go there, well, he deserves what he gets...
Pickles, Kathy, wow.. im not a pickle person, but my husband is Jewish, and i think they're hardwired for Kosher pickles.. boy, do they stink!!!!hahaha....3jays
-
LOVE homemade pickles. Yep, 3jays, my Jewish DH loves them, too. Kathy hoping for the best for your DD.
