Maybe a good idea to go back under the covers and sleep the day away annabanana. That's what I liked to do during chemo.
-
Canadians are just the best! Adore the kindness of that bus driver, Blue! I'll leave Toronto to you all. While I have enjoyed my visits there, I loved my time in Alberta and British Columbia. I loved looking out the window and seeing those snow covered Rockies every morning. When you all slip over the border, don't forget to adopt me also! I too need that great Canadian health care.
-
I will do that linda, thanks. I don't answer the phone on days like these so I won't say anything I regret to others. I need to apply that same thinking here. I'm sorry for hi-jacking your thread with my stupidity. Have a good day everyone...
-
Easy annabanana - cut yourself some slack - we all have bad days............,
-
OK, I saw the MO today for my one year checkup. Had hoped to go to every 6 months but Nooooooo. Sheesh. Every 3 months seems excessive to me, Seeing the RO on Friday when I am firing him. Hate that arrogant little p-word.
Dinner tonight is organic tomato basil soup and grilled goat cheese sandwich on rice bread.
Go LIGHTNING!!
Go RAYS!!!
Sorry E, it's gonna really hurt you.
-
E and Medigal:
Come on up - I'm only an hour out of Toronto (Burlington) E already knows this - she promised to visit - so come on up and we'll party - well we'll at least have dinner. In Burlington the bus drivers are awesome - they stop in between stops for people on rainy days, help wheelchair bound people on and off the buses and of course people with walkers - the buses are clean and well kept. Only problem right now is the worst spring - rain, cold then more rain and cold but now they're promising a warmer and drier than normal summer - so we're waiting!!!!!

Sandy -- I didn't know you were so close! I'm just down the road in NOTL. Do you ever visit (see some Shaw plays, tour the wineries etc.)? Would love to meet you! Blue has promised another visit this summer. Anyone else?
-
Aw Sandy, thanks for the sweet invite but I can't go out in public and socialize. I think the cops from Central Park are still on the look-out for me. Besides, I have a DP and we have never been seperated except for all my hospital stays and the time he took "our" honeymoon with "his" father! Yep! I still can't believe that one but it's true so maybe I deserve "my" time away. Maybe one day but I am not at the point to have some fun just for myself "yet". Thanks anyway. You are a sweetheart to offer.

Where has Bren been? Miss you chiquita!
-
OK, saying it again since it will start soon:
GO LIGHTNING!!!
GO RAYS!!!
-
Hi Barbara! I'm here, just been layin' low for a bit.
Plus, now that it's springtime I have a lot to keep me busy outside. Have fields and 5 acres that needs mowing regularly! I love spring!
Hope you are well and happy,
hugs,
Bren
-
Missed you buddy. Come out and play!
-
Missed you, Bren. Good for you, getting the garden laid in. I love spring too except here we have two seasons: summer and not summer. All is well here. Hugs! I may make the trek to Canada with E and Medipal. Sounds like a great time! E probably won't want to hang around me after tonight, however.
-
Medi... he took your honeymoon with his father...that takes the prize! I don't even know what to say except I'm not telling my DH . I've made him feel that he's done the worse thing and I'd like him to keep thinking that way. My Dh went on a fishing trip on our 25th Anniversary weekend...guess he figured he wasn't going to catch anything at home..lol. Payback time.. as I will be in NYC for our 28th anniversary. He forgot my birthday once too... right after our daughter was born. I waited until we went to bed and I said "hey guess why your mother called tonight" he's like I don't know why...and I said she called to wish me a happy birthday. It was priceless!
Oh Linda...you are in wine country NOTL.That's awesome! I am so jealous...wine and water my two favorite things. My DH says lobster tail and wine..his 3 favourite things.
I grew up in NS ..lots of lakes and the ocean. I am in Alberta and although we do have the majestic Rockies, I dearly miss the water. I have been to the Okanogan on the wine tours and absolutely loved it. Niagra falls is on my bucket list.
-
I spent my honeymoon in Toronto- best city on the plant....miss it, the people and the macintosh taffy...
-
Pickle -- When Niagara Falls comes up to the top of your bucket list, please let me know! We can do some wining and dining together!
-
Linda...sounds great. Thanks and I'll meet you at the vineyards. You'll easily recognize me...I'll be wearing blue...afterall it's the new black! Just kidding...lol
-
Guess I'll have to wear red then!
-
May I join you? I'll be the one wearing orange.
-
Sure, Lassie! And we'll stick to discussing wine and food! Oh, and our health, of course
.
-
It's a deal!
-
Linda, I thought you would. This may surprise you but I like red....in a glass..thus I think we have a compromise. I'll wear blue and drink red. What's on the food menu? I am a foodie at heart and I'm sure we could enjoy some fascinating conversation over some great food and wine.
Lassie the more the merrier. You definitely should join...what's a rainbow without a sprinkle of tangerine..
Edted to add Lassie...read her post after I posted -
I'm partial to duckling and rack of lamb (both go well with red, but I have to admit, you'd better bring some Kelowna reds, because this area doesn't do reds all that well). Whites, on the other hand, are spectacular award winners-- chardonnay, riesling, gevertztraminer.
Lots of organic veggies, and we have festivals for fruits -- strawberry festival, cherry festival, peach festival --- yum yum, can hardly wait!!!
-
I can attest to great company and a yum yum peach festival!
-
Mmmm. I'll make a trip to Kelowna and bring some reds along....duck and lamb...you're my kind of gal. Duck with a nice cherry compote...living the dream...Yum yum indeed!
-
pickle, is it true that you have to go through a Bucket List in order? You can't do something until it comes to the top of the list???
Say it ain't so! I'm an opportunist, so I'll switch things around as needed and do whatever, whenever. (That must be why my Netflix queue is so messed-up.) If, say, Costa Rica was on my Bucket List (which it isn't, since my Bucket List consists of things I might actually get to do some day), and all of a sudden my alma mater sponsored a trip there, I'd move Costa Rica up to the top right quick!
Hubs and I have some mutually listed things. One of them is to take a cruise up the coast of B.C. via the Inside Passage. We've been to Vancouver, B.C., and to the southern tip of Vancouver Island (took the ferry to Nanaimo and drove to Victoria). Then we took another ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles, and explored the Olympic Peninsula. That was back when the U.S. wasn't so concerned about U.S. citizens sneaking back into the country from Canada and wreaking havoc (i.e., no passport was needed). Hubs also wants to go to N.S., which I always thought was way up there by Newfoundland so I didn't want to go there. (I like trees, and I've heard there aren't very many.) But now I see N.S. is about the same latitude as Maine. But I'll bet there still aren't very many trees, eh?
Ontario is more to my liking (besides the B.C. cruise). We drove around Lake Superior when I was a youth, and I'd love to do it again (except for the bugs). But, alas, there's that pesky passport requirement that my country enacted in a fit of paranoia. Why is it that the countries in Europe have simplified everything, but we've just complicated things?
No news is not always good news -- the boat is still buried in the wreckage of the dock that blew away last week. We're told it will be another 2 weeks at least, before the salvage crew works its way down to our slip and can free our boat. Then we can put it on a hoist, lift it out of the water, and see what's hurt. Might need some ginormous band-aids.
But, at least we're not looking at having to re-build a house from scratch...

Pickle: It's not as bad as I like to make it sound. We were moving to New York and his dad needed him to help him drive him to Arizona to see his brother before we left so we forgot about a "real" honeymoon and I have kidded him for all these years about taking it with his father. As you can tell from my posts, I like to "pick" at people, especially him! He's gotten back at me for these past 50 years by never giving me an anniversary or for that fact any other cards. It's a small price to pay considering I have kept my promise I made to my DD when she was about 7 years old. It's amazing what one can survive if one has a goal in mine. I take my marriage vows seriously. I just call it a "partnership" and don't expect what I can't have. Have a good evening.
-
Otter, The order doesn't matter...I would adjust my bucket list too as opportunity presented itself.
I have the inside passage Alaska cruise on my list too. My BIL & SIL love cruises and they said the Alaskan cruise was spectacular.
I love love love Vancouver. Such a beautiful city with the mountains and ocean. Great city for walking and exploring. I haven't been to Victoria but it is on the list too.
Otter you may want to put NS back on your list. It is a beautiful part of the country...plenty of trees..lots of maple trees. Much like the New England states. Friendly people, great food, lots of history. A dear lady that I met here, when I started chemo, is from NYC. She and her DH are avid travellers and have been to NS a few times and loved it. They cruise from NY to NS
Glad you got to experience Ontario. The drive through Ontario is spectacular. I have driven across this vast country a few times...long journey but such an amazing experience. Quebec City and Montreal are fantastic too.
So sorry to hear about your boat. I hope that when it's retrieved that the damage is less than expected. Yes, it's not as bad as rebuilding a house....but still a loss for you. -
Medigal, Wow 50 years...did I read that right? Congrats. I like to razz my DH for his missteps too but in all honestly, I wouldn't trade him for anything. To me, there is some comfort in longevity and commitment and he has subtly given me so much more than what a Hallmark card could have given me.
Hugs

Lindasa - Love NOTL - DH and I were in Rochester for a year or so and NOTL was where we met all our buddies from Toronto - we'd go and shop, have dinner and visit - one year we went Christmas shopping and managed to encounter an earthquake - it was in '87 I believe, anyway it was one visit I still remember. I've only been to NOTL once since my return to Canada last year and loved the whole day - next time I'm planning a trip I'll give you a heads up and if you're coming this way - let me know I'd love to meet.
Medigal - the door is always open so if and when you think you would like to come visit - I'll be waiting - DP is welcome too but perhaps he doesn't travel.
I'm going to put my head down - I've had a sinus infection complete with delightful conjunctiivitis for the last week - I was at the Dr.'s on Monday and am going back tomorrow - it has been a miserable week - I've missed my volunteer work and may have to miss a wedding on Friday - not a fun thing with blood red eyes and constant coughing - I've watched a lot of late night TV - I don't know what's happened to my immune system - I've been so healthy for the previous 18 months and then boom three months ago I got pneumonia with no warning and now this - that's what happens when you eat healthy, walk every day, drink lots of water, get shots, etc. I think I'm going back on hamburgers and diet coke.
