I went to the opera today. Fabulous! But I'm too pooped to pop.
-
Well, at least IT had a happy ending!
-
It was quite amusing. Instead of a wicked stepmother, it was a pompous stepfather. Fairy Godfather as well. And the mice were hilarious. Quite a twist to the reg fairy tale.
Not used to being out of my comfort zone for so long though. But slowly will get into it again.

Oh, Blue, I am so jealous. The opera here in FL is not even close to the Washington Opera or the New York City Opera. Still, I do go from time to time.
Happy Mother's Day everyone!
-
(((hugs))) to Linda ... sometimes you are the top dog and sometimes it seems like you are the fire hydrant
What opera was that blue? Sounds like a fun one. I've been twice ... Madame Butterfly and I don't remember what the second one was. I liked it ... all the extravagance of the experience was cool ... but can't say that I'd really like to go often.
Happy Mother's Day to all!! My mother died in 1984 so it's kind of a bittersweet holiday for me. Reminds me that I still miss her. My daughter is coming over to cook dinner for me today ... that will be fun. Hope she doesn't make me do the clean up

WR, It was Cinderella! Aida and La Tosca are coming. We talked about going to see one of them.
My kids are coming over this afternoon for a while then we're gonna go see my mom. Daughters are making me a strawberry shortcake and my son sent me flowers!

Blue:
Glad you had such a good time at the opera - was lucky to see Carmen with the New York City Opera a few years ago with dh and he was lucky enough to see Aida(sp) in Singapore of all places - he said it was stupendous - he had a project over there in the late 90s that kept him away for 22 months with only a few trips home so I didn't begrudge him his opera - when I was a little girl (in the early 50s) I remember my parents listening to the opera every Saturday afternoon and on my ipod I have three Maria Callas cd's - it's amazing what an early exposure to music will do - I also have Bruce Springsteen and some Beatles on my ipod as well - strange, I know.
Hope you enjoyed the strawberry shortcake and love that your son sent flowers - Happy Mother's Day.
Sandy

I hope all you moms out there had a Happy Mother's Day!
-
Great weekend! Calls and cards from the kids (DH's kids, who have been mine, too, for 25 years now!) Lots of outdoor work because the sun was out and it was warm. And time to climb in the rock gym, and do our Pilates lessons, and read and bead.
Today I pamper myself with a pre-birthday massage. Tomorrow's my day, and I remember 9 years ago getting marked up for radiation. Hell of a way to spend a birthday. They've all been better since, that's for sure!
-
Happy Birthday. Anne!
-
Happy birthday tomorrow, Anne! May 10 was my Dad's birthday (miss him so) -- it was Mother's Day the year he was born! Maybe you were a Mother's day gift to your Mom as well!
And happy birthday today to Lewing, if you're looking in on us!
-
Happy Birthday to 2 wonderful ladies!
-
Why thank you! I forgot what it felt like to have big cupcakes, but they do look nice. hehe!
-
Happy Birthdays to Linda and Anne!!!
We actually had some sunshine here yesterday and this morning ... most enjoyable ... in spite of the sunburned nose I have now
-
Happy Birthday Anne!
-
The sun is shining at my house. About time. Hope Linda and Anne have wonderful birthdays!
-
It was sunny here all weekend. Finally!
-

Morning folks. I miss Athena.
-
Happy Birthday Anne! Hope your day is wonderful, and your year too!
-
Athena is around my last sighting was on the when silence speaks volumes thread. Standing up for people. I really like Athena.
-
Athena posted a funny but appropriate pic on the "Silence..." thread (on the Anxiety, PTSD, etc., forum).
Is today Anne's BD, or was it yesterday? I can't scroll back without losing my place. I know yesterday was lewing's BD; she's one of my chemo sisters. She keeps herself pretty busy elsewhere.

I think yesterday she said it was today - that's why I waited (and hoped I'd remember!!!).

Waving hello to Barbara and everyone else.
"Athena" should be re-christened "Ms. Foot-in-Mouth." I had an awful experience last night. I was on my way home and stepped into a wonderful pizza restaurant on Dupont Circle to order takeout - the only healthy pizza I know of. A short, nondescript man was standing next to me giving a waitress instructions on what to do if someone he was expecting stopped by. He said "Let her know there is a tall, good-looking man looking for her." He emphasized the words I have italicized the way one does when telling the punch line of a joke. He then laughed, the waitress smiled, and I laughed. He shot a look at me and said "What are you laughing at."
Really, you shouldn't make yourself the butt of a rather good joke in front of a stranger unless you are willing to take the consequences. You risk being rewarded for your humor in a way you hadn't bargained for. Still, I felt and feel awful.

(((Athena)))

(((rosemary)) - I saw you on the other thread too!
