AmyJo, that is normal....radiation not only zaps the tumors, but also your strength.  Hey, the Reds won today....bet it was cold in the stadium, but the fans all seemed to be having a really good time.

    Hi Party-Gals,

I was reading your stats on the D level, so I asked my doc to run one and he did. Says my Vit B-12 level is 511 which looks right in the middle of normal. My D3 is 38, it says suggests insufficiency. I love the words they use. Where do I find the best info on post BC D levels? Also, he did IgE test and it's abnormal High at 192, something to do with allergies I think? maybe. He ran Hepatic Function and it's all normal which is good, cause I was worried about kidney function.

Barb - that's a lot of supplements. Thanks, I know I have more energy when I take the B's. DH has been trying one called L'Arginine and I tried it and it was like lite speed. I don't like speed, but I was really focused and got a lot of stuff done. He takes DIM too.

SV - It's good to hear from you too. Glad you're home and fussing about the weather now. That's a bit improvement over running out of hospitals and finally getting treatment. What a living nightmare!!!  In retrospect, some ER person should be sued. Or fired. Glad you're OK.

AmyJo - So glad your treatments are over. Yep, you just have to rest. The fatigue did a number on me too. It was worse than the first 3 months tired of being pregnant. The best advice I could give is to stretch your arms several times a day and remember to stay hydrated. Also, nobody tells you that the treated side will shrink (some) once the redness starts to go away. My treated side is at least a cup size smaller than it was pre-BC. the other thing is to keep rubbing moisturizer on and massaging the scar space, it helps prevent scar tissue which is very uncomfortable.

Ginger- you should be coming to near the end of your rads too! Congratulations! same advice as above. Really - stretch and massage. And rest.

GOOD!! everybody likes baseball. I was a little league mom for years, the girls played softball too and they loved it. It's officially gnat (say Nat) (ie; no see ums) season when you have to do little league. OOOOOOO they are AWFUL. I would buy cigarettes to puff the smoke around me to keep the gnats off. Smelled like an ashtray but it's better than oil or smacking yourself in the face trying to shoo them off.   Ahh, the little league days. They were good ones.  Baseball will keep the party entertaining all summer. Yay.

I had an MRI today, for my neck. Cervical MRI. Thought about you, 3Jays, while in that MRI machine and I just closed my eyes and thought about all of you holding my hands and then it was over. Thanks!!

Went to my first ever AA meeting last night too. Went to support DD#1 in her punishment from the court. She has to attend 3 times a week, Go to a Recovery Place 2 times a week and probation once a week AND a DUI court program twice a week. And work full time. With no car. She can't drive for a year and when she does, she is required to have the wheel-lock device that detects alcohol before car will crank, for 6 months AFTER the first year of no lisence at all. She's looking to move out of my mothers house and into a place of her own downtown where all the court stuff and her job is. She will be able to bike for everything except coming home (here). It was a BIG eye-opener to hear her say, Hi, I'm ME and I'm an alcoholic!! But she did the deed and now shes paying a big price. She needs me for rides, so in a way, it's bringing us closer together. Her sister went with her to a meeting tonight. I'm GLAD she will be moving away from Mom's. Most of you know that I'm not close to Mom. She's mean to me. How could anyone be mean to me? I'm a sweetie!!  Well, that's what DH calls me. heehee.

Did I tell you I sold some art? I'm so excited about selling some pieces of jewelry. Actually was commissioned to create beaded dragonfly pins for my therapist. She gives them to patients that are hospitalized. Wish I knew how to post pics. Made some beautiful earrings for neice's 25th birthday. Joined Etsy, but haven't posted anything yet. It's kind of exciting, selling my work again. Maybe thats the door opening to my new normal. WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN??? It's been 4 years this summer. Wow.

    Party on,

    ~Connie

Connie, I would and am sure the others would love to see your jewelry.  If I can post pics being as computer illiterate as I am, anyone can....it took a lot of coaching from 3jays and Barb, but I finally learned how.....lst put your pics in photobucket and it is easy from there.  I do not do it by using that little tree, I copy and paste, but can only get it to work for me once pics are in photobucket.  I never had my VitD levels checked,(although I found out they were checking it all along and said it has always been fine)  but after so much discussion re it on different threads asked to have it donw last time I was at the onco's and mine came back 68 which is good. I don't take any supplements at all, but I do think I eat pretty healthy.  I eat too much and I do eat crap at times, but I also eat lots of fruit and vegetables and like the healthy food as much as the things that are not so good.  It sounds as if they are exceptionally hard on DUI's in GA.

Alyson, am curious to hear the dental story.

AmyJo...just rest as your body tells you, I once heard that you'll feel the fatigue for the same amount of time that you got rads (e.g. if you had 6 weeks of rads, expect the fatgue to last about 6 weeks after you finish).

It is good to hear that Georgia is tough on drunk drivers, Wisconsin at times gets it and are toughening up here and there.

Connie....I hope DD learns from this and straightens up. Glad she is getting away from DM. maybe she has learned something.

Marybe....are your taxes done? Hope you get lots of $$$$ back. Glad you had a day off but not glad that the REDS won....I am a Brewer's fan!!

Alyson....tell us about the dental story.

    gentle hugs

My DH is such a chicken that I had to go to the dentist with him. He broke a tooth a long time ago and has put off having anything done to it and of course now things are complicated as he has a heart valve replacement and is on blood thinners. He evidently managed to find some painkillers in my drawer when I wasn't around as he had tooth ache yesterday but didn't tell me until this morning. He has to be so careful about infection. It is so hard to believe that a  Director/CFO of an export company won't go to the dentist. Now he has to see an Oral Surgeon to get the thing fixed and he is on very strong antibiotics.I have been telling him for ages to get it seen to grrrr men. I don't enjoy going to the dentist but ours is wonderful and tries very hard to make sure it is not painful.

Anyway he is not allowed any alcohol until he has finished the antibs.

We are off out to 'The Last Night of the Proms' at a local High school. DD1 is doing the soprano part as she coaches the choir.  She has done it at some real concerts in the city. Not sure if the US sees this concert which is held in the Royal Albert Hall in London at the end of the Proms season. It is then done here at a later date by our local orchestra. We have our flags ready for tonight.

    Must fly.

Oh Ladies I wish I were where you gals are.................I still have to do the radiation think........But like my mother used to say to me when I used the expression "you know what I wish"...............her answer was........."wish in one hand, sh-t in the other, and see which gets full first".................Oh yea the lady had a way with words..........I still use that line on my kids........Got a lot of good advice from all the ladies........just wish I could go to sleep, and wake up when its over...............see there I go again with the  "wish" thing............

Well everyone in the Philly area is all excited.............The Phillies season opener is today.......It has already snowed here this morning..................my son has season tickets, and is going to the game..........the high today will be 40 degrees, with 25 mile an hour winds............Parka's anyone..................I'm not a big baseball fan..........give me football anyday...........I had a grandson who played for Carnagie Mellon University, and took them all the way to the championship....never missed a game..........I have 2 grandsons who now play for Franklin & Marshall, and I go to all their games too..........just can't get into baseball...............I have a grandaughter 10 who will be pitching softball this season (windmill pitch), so I will have to go watch her..............her 12 year old brother gave up baseball this year since he started playing "golf" last year, is very good, and loves it.

Don't know how many outdoor things I will be able to do while getting Rads, but I will try to get to them all.............Its amazing how your life changes from one season to the next........I am concerned since there are so many events coming for me.........my grandaughter is graduating from Catholic University of American on May 14th in D.C. with a degree in nursing.......hoping for that one, but right now it isn't looking too good...........I probably won't start Rads for at least another 2 weeks, so with 33 treatments, and 5 boosts that will take me right up to that date.............I will try to make it if they have to drag me there..........I can't disappoint her, although she said "Nan, just get better, and don't worry about it"............Hugs ladies.

Morning gals. Ducky, rads were easy but going there every day just got real old.

Boy oh boy did we have a time of it yesterday with the crazy weather. Tornado watch all day, sideways rain, lightning, thunder, flooded streets, the works. Only bright spot was I now have clean windows on the back side of my house. Too bad the wind didn't shift so my front windows could get cleaned as well.

Hey Barbara A..................Thanks for the info, that makes me feel better..............Good Lord I would have sh-t my pants if I was anywhere near a tornado............Here in Pa. we get those damn "straight line winds", and I run for cover when I see them.......I can't imagine a tornado....just the word scares the hell out of me.......Where we live in Pa. (right outside of Philly) we are in kind of a valley, so most of the really bad stuff seems to either miss us, or we get the tail end.................however the snow this year was awful..........it was every week, and we even had some this morning............I did see what happened to you guys on the news up here........glad you escaped the bad stuff, but at least got your windows washed. haha. hugs to you

Alyson, I LMAO at your DH and the dentist story. Men are such babies when it comes to pain. If men had to have babies, we would have a population of 10.

Barb, one of my most used sayings when I lived with DH was 'if men had to have babies'....they cannot cope with pain. BUT I have to admit to having the greatest sympathy with Alysons DH, because I am just the same with dentists ! I HAVE to go right now, and am having kittens, ducked out on an appointment today, will have to pay for that. Booked in again next week BUT I am pretty sure I will end up paying for another missed appointment ! I have to have a raging toothache before I am driven there with the pain !

I am having one after another hot flashes today, AND six and a half years into Arimidex. Sweat is running down thru' my hair and stinging my eyes.  I thought I had finished all this years ago, but see hot flashes are one of the delightful se's of Arimidex. Must admit to having quite a few of these 'flash' days whilst on Arimidex. The shower is my best friend today !

Hey Ladies - Amyjo I hope you are enjoying not having to go somewhere!  To all the good post-rads advice, I'd add, eat plenty of high-quality protein because you're rebuilding red blood cells (part of the fatigue).  I was told early on to expect fatigue for some months afterward, so I took lots of guilt-free naps - and ate smoked salmon!

My best news  is when I went to the opthamologist today, and told him I'd added an AI to my meds list, he knew immediately that dry eye is one of the se's of AIs; and he will work with me -- I'm just so relieved that this doc didn't need any convincing!!

ducky, my dad used to say the same thing -- the ladies in the family cleaned it up to wish in one hand and spit in the other... so we kids used "spit" pretty often as a swear word.

SV I had some of those error messages problems on this site, and couldn't log in at certain places, it lasted several days.  I would back out and come back a different route and all worked out and seems resolved.  I just figured  it was a little glitch between my computer's mind and  BCO working on their site. No problem, and nothing personal as far as I know.  BUT, I haven't had any malicious computer stuff like you did either -- now that's scary!

    Chocolate is a food group.

Even tho it's sunny, I'making it easy indoors with dilated eyes - holy cow all the dirt in the house shows up and after spending yesterday raking & burning big piles of debris, I'm too darn tired to clean.

I wish I could clone my dentist for you folks who don't like theirs. He's wonderful!

Best wishes, to all. And thanks again BarbA for starting this thread, and for the usual reasons.

Ok Barb, which one of those ladies in the picture is your grandmother. ;-)

I have enjoyed not having to go anywhere, but will change on Monday. I have to do to the dentist and possibly the oral surgeon as I managed to break 3/4 of my tooth off last night.  Needless to say it really hurts.  So far the Advil and Oragel PM have been helping.  The whole right side of my face is swollen today so if it gets worse I will be calling the dentist at home to meet me in his office.  I swear if it is not one thing it is something else.  I hate this!!! Does anyone remember what normal was like?

Ok enough of my rant.  At least my skin is healing and is not so tender and sore now.  The weather here is cool and really windy.  We finally put the cushions from the outdoor patio furniture on the screened in porch so they won't wind up in the pond.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.  Amy Jo

Oh  no, Amy Jo.....a broken tooth.  I can't recall if you are on aredia or zometa, but if  you are on any of those bone strengthening IV treatments, you want to avoid an extraction at all cost....take pain meds and get on an antibiotic and hopefully the dentist can save the tooth. For sure you don't want to run the risk of osteonecrosis by having an ext.  Is it a molar?  I am so sorry this has to spoil your weekend.

I agree Barb, the pic is great....looks like a really fun bunch and I bet they were the talk of the town in their day.

Big hugs Amyjo, at least you are doing something about it now, not leaving it as my DH did. I usually manage to break a tooth just before we are going on a trip - my teeth are not great  but somehow have managed to hang on to them.

We are off to get MiL soon, she is allowed out of hospital for a couple of hours and so she will be able to see Samuel.

Hope you all have a great day.
