Nicole, you are a tall woman and can carry that weight without looking too heavy. Don't be hard on yourself, but you need to feel good about the way you look as well. I can so relate to how you must feel. Let's get you back on track! We can do this together!
(((((Nicole)))))

Awww, thanks Meece! These past few months have been a bit stressful for me, too.
Keep your faith while you go through this time in your life... we have had enough challenges thrown our way, eh?!?
-
Nicole ~ So great to see you again! Welcome back!
-
Double-checked my figures and realized that I doubled my exercise time - and inadvertantly doubled my exercise points!!!! They should have been 4, not 8. Making my total 13 instead of 17.
Also - starting weight was 198.....if you could change that Meece. Thanks for all the time and co-ordinating you do! Great job!
Offered brownies Saturday night and didn't eat any at all. Had a small handful of almonds instead. Sunday dinner today - small servings, no seconds, not even homemade bread or wonderful potatoes, and only a small half of chocolate cake. Thank-you for the incentive to do well, ladies!
Edit to ask a question - extra credit point for last week for deciding to stop coffee. If I maintain that change, does it count as a point this week too?
-
2Hands4me......You really deserve an extra point for your honesty
-
Sheila, I was thinking the same thing! I've always tried to teach my kids the importance of honesty. I told them they'd get in less trouble for being honest when they did something wrong, than telling a lie to try and get out of trouble. And I always tell them "thank you for being honest".
"Thank You, 2Hands4me"
-
I raised my children the same way. Since we can only get one bonus point each week, we should be trying to find new ways to earn them, although if keeping to that goal is a real struggle, then succeeding should warrant the extra point.
-
I had few strict rules for them.
Everybody is equal
No racist remarks in any way
Dont lie.
DONT SMOKE (I could only control this indoors) Even their friends knew there was no smoking in the house.
My younger one doesnt smoke. Older one started, stopped....Im not sure about now.
And it worked.
-
2Hands4Me,
I agree with Meece,
If your extra credit "thing" is something that you are still trying to get under control (in my case, eating 5 servings of vegetables every day) then I think progress toward that goal should count. If it's something that you are, after some time passes, doing easily, maybe not so much!
I'm thinking your extra-point of stopping coffee (wow) should count as your extra-credit, especially in the beginning IF it is still a struggle for you.
Just my 2 cents worth... I defer to our team leaders for their vote...
OK... I see you turned down brownies in favor of a healthy alternative! I'd say you have your extra credit right there!!!
-
Which one of you hummingbirds is this, exercising by swimming? Looks like east coast.
-
OK - catching on slowly! I didn't realize we could only get one extra credit point per week! Thanks for the tip that refusing that brownie counts! I wasn't thinking of things like that! At least I know I already have my extra credit point for the week!
Headache this morning - hoping it's not the lack of coffee but I've gotton headaches before without it. I usually only drink one cup, but now none since last Wednesday. Headache is probably more due to hormones....at least I'll blame it on that for now!
Have a good day everyone - drinking water, moving more (even a little increase helps), and eating less.........!!!!!
-
Meece - I went swimming yesterday but my pool was inside and heated
-
Hi E-labbers! checking in to see how everyone is. Way to go team Robin. I'm so excited only one more week and I can get back to some normalcy. Walking the treadmill, and actually dieting. Woo HOO!!! How funny to be excited about being able to diet and exercise, but I'm really tired of sitting around and not doing much. I have to start looking for great recipes and ways to take healthy foods to work that I can prepare quickly and inexpesively. I know my picky family won't eat them they tend to like fast foods, ie... chicken fingers, chilli, taco soup, baked fries, mac-n-cheese, cornbread, turnip greens; you get the picture. It makes it really hard to prepare diet foods. My husband weighs a paultry 147lbs. It makes me cringe that he weighs less than I do. Uggh!!
Welcome back Nicole!! I have missed you and thought of you often. I hope all is well with you. You are definitely not alone. I have gained weight since dieting last year and I am not happy with myself over it at all.
Everyone on this thread is so supportive I wish I could get on here more frequently so I could get more support for myself. I know it would really help to keep me focused.
Good Luck to all my fellow Birdies this week... keep losing!!
Renee
-
I just have to report in that at work today someone (very sweet and dear) actually said I was looking "thin" (ha!) and thought I must have lost a whole lot more than I have since my gallbladder surgery last month. YEA! I'm sure the exercize is helping to tone up all those saggy spots and help!
-
Hi Renee and Valijean!
So nice to still see you ladies! I had a hard day... not to bring everyone down... but a lady friend I went through chemo with 3 years ago just got diagnosed with a brain tumor! I hate this disease! UURRGGHH! I don't want to scare everyone, she had a unique situation; however I hate to hear anybody has to go through this! Let alone twice... the good news, it may be benign, we are waiting on results, please PRAY for her.
Okay, back to the weight loss, I have been trying, doing my 30 minutes of cardio a day and watching what I eat... lets see what Friday brings!
Hugs!
Nicole
-
Tonight was my anniversary! Hubby brought home Chinese (rare treat) ohhhhhhhhhhh...fried crab cheese wonton's.... I did pick up the pace with exercise but ummmmmm, it was Chinese food, yummmm!
-
Michelle- Happy Anniversary! Definitely sounds yummy. Sometimes you just have to eat things like that so you don't feel deprived. As long as you don't do it everyday you'll do fine!
-
Hello ladies from the warm sunny beaches of Punta Cana. Just wanted to say hi and to admit that I've been very bad since I arrived. The food is awesome and the rum is incredible. Now I'm going to go do some walking on the beach and get some exercise in.
I'll check in later this week.
Good luck birdies and GO ROBINS!
-
I like my new digital scale. Seeing the decimal places drop is motivating. I want to whittle away five pounds, and I want to do it slowly over a some weeks so it will stay off.
There were a whole lot of cowbirds in my yard this morning. They looked like they were eating A LOT. If you are looking for a team name for people trying to gain...just kidding. I'm sure there is a cuter name than cowbird.
Keep flapping your wings, birdies!
-
Hi suz, I'm jealous.
-
elimar....cowbirds!!? ........that is too funny! Thanks for the laugh today
-
Michelle,
Happy Anniversary! I, too, love chinese food! Hope it tasted, sooo very good!!
Been braving the cold here (and, wow! Even by NY standards, it's been COLD) to shovel on the days we've had snow. Treadmill the other days... We'll see what Friday brings....
Gooooo Hummingbirds!!!
-
suzwes,
Sooooo jealous! Enjoy that tropical weather (and the rum...lol)!!!
Today in NY it felt positively balmy outside and the high was in the low 30's... What a difference a few days make... Earlier this week we struggled to make double digits above zero!!
-
Nicole, your friend is definitely in my prayers.
For everyone: I get e-mailed the Mayo Clinic Newsletter each week. This week had some diet tips for weight loss. Some of you may find it interesting and helpful. There were 3 I thought were at least worth passing on. Here are the links:

Roadrunners, sorry I'm not doing so well to help the team. The "toe" is still swolen from the run-in with the space heater and it's limited the walking.... ugh. I'm trying to do other types of exercise but the motivation isn't quite there.
Then today, they had a double chocolate cake for the January Birthdays.... well, mine is tomorrow so I had a piece of this wonderfully gooey chocolate cake. Double ugh.... Then I thought about Erma Bombeck and she said sometimes you just have to celebrate and not feel bad about it. So, I celebrated. Tonight for supper I had beef, spaghetti squash and some fresh cherries.
Gotta get hula-hooping to burn the fat around the waist.... At least I'm drinking the water and up to date on that.
-
samsue...I wasnt a very good girl today either.
Sorry about your toe.
I had my toe broken once and i wasnt very happy with my limitations.
-
For you, Samsue,
-
H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y S A M S U E !!!!!!
May you have a beautiful day!
((hugs))
-
Good Morning fellow Roadrunners. I stand before you hanging my head in shame for I have not done well this week.
weight: 0 points, still at 218
check in: 1 point
exercise: 30 minutes, 1 point
extra credit: I brown bagged lunch EVERY work day. When I buy lunch I make poor choices, brown bagging is the way I control what I eat at lunch.
I drank32 ounces of water 3 days = 3 points
Total: a measely 5 points.
I'm sorry. It's so hard for me to get an exercise session in on long, busy days. I know I wouldn't be so tired if I got more exercise, but when I'm so tired all tht time just the thought of exercise is daunting.
-
Hey NM, couple things. 1. We love you no matter what. 2. Today's only Thursday! :-)
Happy Birthday Samsue! {{hugs}} to all
