The E-LAB Project
Thing have slowed down around here, but thanks to some faithful women, the E-lab is still running. I have removed the former team information and placed it within the thread near the bottom of page 166. Anyone is welcome to join up for encouragement and support. Let me know and you will be added to the header.
E-LAB (Sounds mysteriously technical doesn't it) stands for Eating Like A Bird
We are working together to support each other and lose that weight! Here we go....

Meece, come post a link to this thread on the Middle-Aged Women thread, as I am sure there are some looking for weight loss support. Several have started on programs for Spring.
I'll join, but it's more prevention for potential weight gain that some get from Tamox. I have to be vigilant and nip any gain in the bud.
-
Meece...I think we got little too excited on the other thread about this weight issue.
Also I have a little request as I call it CONFESSING if you ate something you weren't suppose too. I had few plain cookies last night.
Oh. I really love this thread.

Meece ~ great to have a separate thread for this!
Yesterday I weighed 149.6# & this morning I was 151.6# How can that be?? I did have a bottle of pop Sat & Sun, which I don't usually do, shame on me!!
I also had some really fresh black jelly beans on both days. I must say I did have some of my DH's great homemade jerky both days & that makes me soooo thirsty & I do think there is some water weight there, but I can't dismiss the sugar from the pop & candy. I have such a sweet tooth!! I actually had not had pop in such a long time, & that A&W was too sweet, but I drank it anyway.
I am 5'5" & I've always weighed myself every morning & I write it down. Before my dx, I was on a low-carb, no-carb diet & at one time I was down to 138#. But, when I slowing started to add carbs back into my diet, I slowly started to gain weight. I was 142# at the time of my dx, Nov 2008. I have went up to 148-149# & seem to stay there. I truly think that gain is due to taking Aromasin & I have tried so hard to lose those dang #'s. It is soooo frustrating!!
I was working out on my NordicTrack Pro Skier, but have slacked off on that big time. I will be gone tomorrow, so I declare, RIGHT HERE & NOW, Wed morning I am back on it & will continue to be.
I LOVE desserts, if I just look at some, I gain 1-2#'s. How awful is that??
This past Saturday, I bought 6 new pairs of capri pants & they are a tiny bit snug, but I will fit into them perfectly. (I was not going to go to a size 10.) I would love to get below 140#, guess I have to work my butt off!! (pun intended)
Help me ladies!!!
Here! Here! to our determination, as I lift my smoothie made with only fruit & water.

Okay joining the e-lab's kinda. I walked for 30 min this morning which was the first time in a LONG while. I an 5'5" and 152lbs and I would like to lose 10lbs and firm what I have up. Surgeries and chemo has made me lazy so my goal this month will be to just get moving and see where the scale goes.
-
Welcome, ladies. I am heading to the middles at the invitation of Elimar to post a link here.
I am 5'8 and fluxuate between 168 and 170. I want to see much lower numbers here.
-
Last night I had two bowls of salad, which I felt really good about, until I read the calorie count on the dressing! I brought my radishes to work today, they are so tasty, but tomorrow I bring more.
-
I'm joining up today. I had a Subway chicken breast sandwich on wheat bread for lunch, no cheese, lots of veggies and fat-free honey mustard. I'm 5'7" and weigh around 155, so I'd like to lose about 15 pounds. I am planning on walking tonight, but that will depend on what time I get out of work and whether I attend my bc support group tonight.
Love this idea, Meece, and I love the new avatar!
-
It wasn't my idea, it came from the most recent topic on the Stage I thread, but I thought it would be respectful to that thread if we had our own.
That is me at 135 lbs! I would like to be 145 again.
-
I chose a spinach salad with boiled egg and a wee bit of bacon for lunch. Total caloric intake 250!
-
Can I post here or is it just for Stage 1?
-
You are very welcome to post here. It just got started at Stage I.
-
I have to confess, I just bought my Corned Beef for the 17th. I wonder how bad that is gonna be in the way of calories. That will be my splurge day. My family would disown me if I didn't make it.
-
The salt intake in corned beef is very high. cabbage is vegetable. Unless you are planning to eat a pound of potatoes??????
Ainm... You have to be here so Meece can tuck you in. LOL
I had my dinner early its like very late lunch. 2 roasted chicken thighs and brussel sprout leftovers from last night. Later I'm thinking to make a colorful salad with a sliced hard boil egg.
Sheila

I was surprised at the sodium content of 1 cup of fresh radishes 45 mg! I don't crave sweets, but I crave salty foods. Bring on the corned beef. I will only have a couple new potatoes and plenty of cabbage.
-
Okay - here goes - I'm about 5' 4" and *gulp* 173.5 lbs!! I'm 46 (until Wednesday!!). I have been E(ing)-LAB since I finished rads at the very end of July and have managed to lose 60 lbs since then (yes I know - I was way, way overweight!!). I did the "so you're scared of recurrence" diet!!!
I have a long history of yoyo dieting and this is the lowest weight I've been since a brief success way back in 1998. I really worry about a) not being able to lose any more weight b) not being able to keep the weight off and c) having to battle se's of meds which usually cause weight gain. I was premenopausal at dx so I hit chemopause and then tamoxipause so I don't know what affect that could have on my weight. I would love to get to a normal weight before considering reconstruction surgery.
So any hints and tips on how to keep on losing would be greatly appreciated.
Val - it's common for your weight to fluctuate about 2lbs from day to day. Although I weigh myself daily (I know - it's an obsession) I only log my weight once a week.
I do keep an accurate food diary and having done WeightWatchers on many, many occasions (I think I should Have WW shares - I joined so often!!) I still quantify my food in WW points!! My only exercise is Wii Fit - I do the free step on that for about 40 to 60 mins daily.
-
Meece, I'll be having corned beef, cabbage and potatoes for the 17th as well. And I'll try to remember portion control ; )
Now I have to figure out what to make for dinner. DH is out of town all week, so I'm not motivated to cook only for DD and myself. Maybe a whole wheat tortilla pizza with lots of veggies and a tiny bit of lowfat cheese...
-
Meece...When I see the Title of this thread I feel like we are doing some secret Government stuff. LOL
-
Well, we'll keep the government out of this one, but we are divulging that dirty secret we all keep, our weight.
-
Ok I am 5'6" and weigh 215, on top of everything else I have a thyroid problem it is scheduled to be removed next week but mostly I really like food. I have been exercising more but maybe this will help me. I am also a BIG stress eater. We had oven baked chicken strips, with honey mustard sauce, green beans, baked sweet potato, dill pickles and corn relish. No worries on March 17th I will be having surgery and not worrying about what I cannot eat. Please all let me know how good it is. Actually not a huge fan of corn beef and cabbage but get a hankering for a corn beef on rye sandwich now and again.
-
Ok, here we go. I finish rads on Wednesday and expect to start back to the gym next Monday. I have gained 17 lbs since finishing chemo in December. I thought I was really doing well and did manage to maintain my weight during chemo, but when the taste buds started again, I have not been able to say no to anything.
I was already about 16 lbs over when diagnosed, so now I need to lose 33. uuuggggg!!!!! I do believe that some of the weight will come off, if I can just control what I put in my mouth.
I am 5'7" and weighed in at the doctors today at 183.
I will also have corned beef and cabbage on March 17. One of my problems is that everyday at work someone brings something. It is really hard to diet there.
Juannelle

Well I wasn't going to tell how much I weighed Sheila but since everyone else is telling... LOL! I am 5'5" and when I started I was 175lbs (blows your mind and mine too). My BMI is 29 according to Medical weight loss solutions. At my weigh in last week I was down 2 lbs woo hoo :=( to 173 lbs, I am hoping that this week it will be more. Today for lunch I had 4oz grilled chicken, 1/2 cup of blueberries, 8 oz of lettuce with light italian dressing (2 tbsp) and crystal light.
Meece thanks for the new thread

When I arrived at work there was a Valentine's day box full of See's on the counter. I passed it up. Had my oatmeal and went to work, didn't go into the breakroom at break, but finally broke down for "just one piece" at 11:00 and the thing was gone, emptied and thrown away. I am so thankful for that!

Joining in the top-secret E-LAB effort.
I am 5 foot 5 and am currently weighting in at 145.
I have been walking every morning for certainly the last month.
Starting with single walk of 15 minutes. I'm now up to 2 walks of 30 to 35 minutes each!!
And have lost two pounds......
This is since my bilat surgery Jan. 15th.
At the end of last summer's 827 miles of bike riding, I'd gotten myself down to 140 on a consistent basis. That would be awesome.
I'm gonna have 145 be my DO NOT EXCEED number.
xx00xx00xx00xx
Glad to see everyone getting with the program.
-
I'd like to join too. My weight is good right now but I'm so afraid that the femera I'm on and being newly menopausal will make it start creeping up and I'll be 50 in June and it seems that everytime I transition to a new decade I have a hard time losing or maintaining weight. I need to be accountable to people to eat healthy and exercise so I'd love for you all to be my "food/exercise accountants". I'm at a conference right now so it may be hard to eat healthy right now but I'll try really hard to make healthy choices. Conferences are so hard cause they're always feeding people good and bad stuff. I was good on the exercise though and walked approximately 2-3 miles today.
-
Good for you suzwes!! Keep on walking
...

Okay, my little E-Lab mice. What is the consensus of a list of names and starter weights in the opening of this thread? i.e. Meece - 170, etc...
Is this something you'd like to see?
-
Wow, this is a very busy place. That is good! A lot of sister-friends to keep each other motivated.
Tomorrow is my shopping day & I plan on buying more veggies (sick of carrots!) & more fruits. I am not a fan of counting out items to equal the calorie count on the package, of let's say, low-fat cheese its. Need to stay away from the crackers anyway.
Ainm ~ Nice to see you! You are doing so well.
Suzette ~ I am a little north of you in MI, up in Owosso. That is a little cutie-pie in your avatar.
-
Meece ~ I don't mind doing that. Put me down for 150#. Maybe if I see that "5", it will scare me & I'll work harder!!
-
Meece..I dont mind either, can we count the 9 pounds I lost since December 2nd.
I was 172 pounds 3 months later as of today I weigh 163. Im 5' 5".
