Ok who is going to watch Survivor with me?

-
Wednesday is almost here.........can't wait - should be exciting....
-
The preview was on again! Got to record it, so I will get to see it!
-
WOW..I can't believe no one has posted since the first episode. I like how Ethan has gotten the show together with "Stand Up For Cancer" because of his bout with it and the loss of Jenn Lyon. I think it's wonderful.
Anyways, I think this is going to be a fun season. Old vs. Young. With a bunch of 20 year olds, there is bound to be some good entertainment. I also love the fact that they have a "dumb blonde" and it's a guy! And then they call him Fabio! I almost hope they don't ever merge.
Goatlady Wendy, although I think she was going to be voted out anyways, certainly dug her own grave at tribal. She was a bit different.
Too early to form opinions yet, so I will hold off on that.
COME ON SURVIVOR FANS........WHERE ARE YOU??? (unless for some reason, I am not seeing new posts. Boy will I be embarrassed then)
Lori -
Survivor fan here................ I couldn't believe how Wendy dug her own grave like she did. I was glad to see that the challenge wasn't a blow out. I am rooting for the older folks in general because I am one of them
. Haven't really picked a favorite yet, but the fisherman (Jimmy something) is a little annoying, so he's not on the list. This should be a fun season, but I don't like the switch to Wednesday night.
-
Wendy should get a full physical including a interview with a neurologist. Her constant talking is very strange. I don't think it falls withing the normal range. The inability to stop talking is one symptom of bipolar disorder. She seems like a very nice woman, just one with a problem.
This is going to be a season with a slow start.
-
I went out of town and didn't get to post.....
Wendy was a bit strange. However, I think she was trying to be someone she wasn't, then continued talking because she was nervous. Or......there could be something wrong.
I was glad to see Jimmy Johnson stay in at least for now. I find that he is very good at saying the right thing - although the crazy fisherman sees right through it. I really didn't like the good looking young guy (from Lafayette,La) he seemed to have it out for the women.
I too am rooting for the "older" group. The last time they did this the younger crowd was so confident in their youth that they didn't do well. Curious to see what happens next.
-
Hard to get used to Wednesday nite!! Looks like another fun season. Will take a few more weeks for me to really get into it, but am so glad to have something to look forward to on TV! I'm in the "old" camp, too--wonder how they will hold up to any demanding physical challenges...???...will be interesting to see.
Looking forward to tomorrow nite!!!
-
Almost missed last week, caught it thanks to my mom's channel surfing and just caught it tonight because I was channel surfing! So far it's interesting. I definitely like the older vs. younger angle. Can't wait to see what happens each week!
-
Junie, I think they are keeping the challenges more fair. Something that both the older and younger can do and that the age shouldn't really play too much of a part in it. Otherwise the youngin's would certainly have the upper hand!
-
Wow! 2nd show was pretty intense for so early in the game! What's up with Holly stealing shoes, filling with sand and sinking in the ocean? Then, fessing up to it??? She seems to be very emotionally unstable! Look for her to go soon.... NaOnka--OMG! Her ATTITUDE!!! I had to laugh tonight--the way she rolls her eyes and shoulders and her sarcastic comments remind me of my dau as a teen (and I would just want to reach out and smack her!)...but, you have no doubt how she feels about anything! LOL....
Tribal council was weird--seems like the anger, snide comments, tempers shouldn't have surfaced so early in the game--usually only see something like that more than half-way through. Think those young'uns got a heap a growing up to do!!
Several possibilities on each side to be my "fav".......2nd week and I'm HOOKED!!! Can't wait 'til next week!
-
This is shaping up to be a very good season! Wow, 2 TCs in a row where someone gets voted out because they can't shut up! When Fabio is the voice of wisdom ("Dude, shut up!"), you know you have problems. I also don't understand where Shannon's sudden fixation on gays came from. Who was it he accused of being gay because he was from NYC and everyone knows it's full of gays? Crazy!
Na Onka needs an attitude adjustment, pronto. She's turning into quite the diva. And why would you be focused on getting out people who might be strong at Final Tribal Council (Kelly and Brenda) in the second freaking episode! You have to get to the merge, first! Then you can worry about who might be in FTC.
And Holly just had a meltdown, didn't she? Act weird, and when you overhear someone muttering under their breath, you steal and destroy their shoes? And then go tell him that you did? And why did she care that the others were eating snails? They weren't forcing her to, so why would she grab and dump out food for the tribe?
Early favorites: Jimmy Johnson, Sash, Brenda, Chase, Tyrone, Jane (? the lady who started a fire with someone's glasses), and Marty.
Edited to add: Kelly B.
-
What a strange tribal council. I applaud Holly for fessing up, but of course, she should not have done it in the first place. And who is dumb enough to bring $1,600 shoes to Survivor?
So, I went to the website last night to learn more about them - did you know that Kelly's (girl with one leg) father was a doctor and he died in the Haitian earthquake because he was there to bring food to the island? If she makes it to the final two, she has so totally won. JMHO
-
Do her tribe-mates know about her Dad? Because they're already gunning for her over a perceived sympathy vote for her leg. If they know about her Dad, too, she's gone and that would be a shame. She rocked that challenge, sliding through the mud and crawling under the ropes. That leg didn't slow her down at all. And Na Onka was making sour faces and predicting her leg was going to 'fall off' in a competition - please! She seems ignorant and intolerant about physical disabilities for a PE teacher.
-
I wasn't surprised by Shannon's comments about gay people, he seemed to have a somewhat low opinion of women in the previous show. He was good eye candy, but I didn't like him.
I think Holly is more than a bit strange and like J.Johnson said, people like her tend to have those ups and downs and I'll bet she goes off the deep end again (if she's not voted out first).
I am really surprised at the young tribe and their inability to see beyond the leg prosthesis. Ignore the leg and see what she can or can't do for the tribe and worry about the individual stuff later. I am very impressed with her.
I find that on both the older and younger tribe that they're all so focused on the individual status and final four that they're all forgetting in order to be strong that for now they NEED to function as a team and work together.
Do any of y'all watch Amazing Race? Survivor and Amazing Race are my two favorite reality shows.
-
jenn--I'm an Amazing Race nut, too!!! Have seen other posters mention watching it.....think I'll start a thread for "Race" so we can chat up that show, too! hugggsssss!!!
-
I know they've recruited in past seasons, the one that comes to mind is the B, C or D actor Brian, who I think won.
Junie - if you start a thread for Amazing Race let me know I'll go there too. I just love Survivor an Amazing Race. Don't watch much other reality unless the kids have it on.
-
Well not too much to add as everyone has hit the nail on the head. Those youngin's are just that....YOUNG. Only in their 20's, what more would you expect from children! As for the gay comment, it was directed at Sash. Still too early for me to remember names, no fav's yet. Alot of strange ones this year!
I don't watch Amazing Race, but thought there was a thread for that one already. I know there are few for the reality shows. I hope they don't ever stop Survivor! I love it!
-
Last night's show leaves me a bit perplexed. Neither team seems to be getting it together--its like everyone is going in different directions, each with their own agenda. Weird!
Hated to see the oldies lose the challenge--not physically demanding and the younguns were smart to not use their advantage. No surprise that Coach Jimmy was voted off, but not sure Marty is the one to unite the oldie team. Maybe their biggest downfall is that many seem to be strong individuals and leaders in their personal lives and employment and don't want to take direction from anyone else???
NaOnka--I surely hope that she is portraying herself in an "acting" role to keep the show interesting--would hate to think that anyone could really be so mean and spiteful. Regardless, of all the players, she is my least favorite!
As always--can't wait 'till next Wed!
-
Yeah, that was a little odd. Jimmy J. seemed to give up, admitting at TC that he was weak. And I had liked Marty up until now. I can't decide who is the bigger fool on the oldies tribe; him or Jimmy T. I hope the women are smartly sitting back and letting them take each other out vs. having given up already. And what was Marty thinking, announcing "he" found the immunity idol? The tribe is going to share it? How exactly is that going to work? What if 2 people think they need it?
And Na Onka is a truly nasty person. It's appalling that she's a teacher! I hope every parent of a child in her PE class withdraws their child from the class and complains about her horrible attitude, particularly to those with disabilities (and dorky guys with blond hair LOL).
-
I was sorry to see Jimmy J go, but I guess he was being honest and didn't realize how physcially demanding it can be. I'm not so sure about Marty - he seems to be very self centered and at this point in the game they really need to come together as a team. Maybe the women on that team are playing smart, sitting back and letting the men take themselves out.
The younger tribe is also very divided and I really, really don't like Na. She seems to have a terrible attitude and her dislike of someone because they have a prosthetic leg is unbelievable. Notice I didn't say handicapped because Kelli is certainly not handicapped. As of right now I like her the best, I like the way she carries herself and her overall attitude.
On to next week.....
-
If Jimmy J were up to playing the game, he could have easily made a 2 or 3 person alliance with whomever, and just said...vote me out when we get to the final 3 or whatever. I do like the oldies team, you can def. see the difference as to how they get along compared to those youngins. And I so agree with everyone else about Na. That girl needs an attitude adjustment REAL bad. Her momma should be ashamed (altho I hope it wasn't how she was raised). I also hope she makes a change in her attitude after she sees herself on TV.
NAONKA - SHAME ON YOU!
Still too early for a fav, but def. dislike Na.
-
Man, I was surprised they booted Jimmy T, because the way they were dithering, I thought it would be Dan to go. So, Marty thinks he's in charge now, huh? Too bad the previews revealed he won't get to enjoy it too long with the upcoming tribal shuffle next week.
Question - If the people holding the HIIs (hidden immunity idols) don't take them to what they think is going to be a challenge and then get sent to the other tribe, do they lose their idol? And if so, would it be fair game for anyone who knows the current whereabouts of the idols left behind? Or will the tree mail make it so obvious there will be a shuffle that they snatch them up and take them along?
Man, I didn't believe it was possible for Na Onka to be a more vile person, but she keeps doing it. She really needs to get over her hatred for Kelly B. and quit going on and on about Kelly's leg. At this point, I'd love it if Kelly took that leg off and beat Na Onka with it.
And I wish the promo monkeys would quit making it obvious in their preview ads which tribe will go to TC. When they spend ¾ of the ad focusing on one tribe, it's a sure bet they will be going to TC. And while I'm ranting, could they stop airing that "Sprint Player of the Week" right before TC? Their choices often telegraph which one will go. Let's say (hypothetically) they show Chase clashing with Na Onka about who should go. If they include Chase in the "Sprint Player of the Week" and not Na Onka, then you can pretty well assume Chase prevailed and his choice is leaving.
-
I was happy that it was Jimmy T that went home - I usually root for the locals (I am from MA and Jimmy T is from Gloucester) but man, he made it hard to like him at all. The tribal shake up looks really interesting for next week. If Marty left the immunity idol hanging up in camp and he ends up at the other camp, he's lost it. I don't know if Na is bright enough to bring the immunity idol with her to the challenge, but I think if it is in her personal affects and she ends up at the other camp, it will be delivered to her along with her personal stuff. I like the same folks you guys like - Kelly, Jane & Jill. There really isn't a guy that particularly likable except Chance and I am not sure about him.
Na is impossible - I cannot believe one person can embody so much hatred. What is her problem?
-
Just when Marty gets smug that he has "his" tribe under his thumb, things will be shaken up! It will be interesting to see how the teams are paired up now--don't think any of the older people will tolerate NaOnka for long, but seems like most of her horrible diatribe against Kelly is directed toward the camera and not shared with anyone on her tribe? Maybe I've missed something. Brenda is not wise to buddy up with Na. So far, it seems like the show has dealt mostly with the older tribe--can only ID a few of the younger tribe. Maybe with the merge, they will become more familiar. No stand out favorite yet.
LOL--2tzus, you forgot to mention Coach!!! What is interesting is that I remember those bizarre, bad, outrageous players--but couldn't tell you who did win the shows they were on!!! Is it Wednesday yet????
-
I am just not that impressed with the older tribe and am glad that they'll be changing things this week. The younger tribe is okay, with the exception of Nah....I really don't like her attitude and hope that she is somehow voted off.
Junie - I don't think Brenda is sticking with Na for any other reason than the idol - for whatever reason, it seems everyone comes to her with information. If she can play it right, she'll be around for a while - I think??? I just can't believe that Na doesn't see anything wrong with what she's saying.
-
I'd like to see Kelly B. take that leg of hers, and whack Na across the head with it. I soooooo hope someone puts her in her place. I think they chose her (Na) for the "the person you love to hate".
-
Wow, didn't see that coming (until all the hints they tossed out between the challenge and TC). Tyrone? Noooo! You've got Dan who can't walk because that crazy broad (Holly?) sank his magic shoes, you've got the other crazy lady (Nay) wanting to quit and you get rid of Tyrone?!? Dummies. Of course it was dumb for Tyrone to get pissy about the chicken, but...
-
dang--my post poofed!!!! In the meantime, Riley summed it up perfectly!!!
Thought criminal charges should be filed for voting Tyrone off!!! He was a voice of total reason to not kill/cook the chicken--did he really eat THAT much more than anyone else???? And, psycho Holly being a voice of reason to her new young tribal members...OMG!!!
And, what's up with the suddenly sweet, poorlittleme, I wanna go home, Na??? Did the producers tell her to adopt a new persona or they were going to yank her right off the show????
I'm starting to wonder if the producers raided a couple of mental institutions for this year's cast----just kidding, but they all seem to be sightly "off"!!!!
Lots going on to think about--gonna be a loooonngg week!!!!
-
junie, I didn't think he was eating more chicken; I think he was just willing to gnaw on the bones afterward. That made it look like he was eating longer, which made it seem he must have been eating more, and I'm not sure he did. I thought it looked as though he was trying to confine his eating to the less desirable parts, but the tribe obviously didn't agree. I also didn't see anyone drinking the water they boiled the chicken in - surely they didn't ignore that source of nutrition.
If La Flor had lost, would they have turfed Marty? Because he didn't perform very well at the challenges... and it would have been kinda funny for him to go from being so cocky that he called the shots on Espada, to being kicked off La Flor.
-
I think they did a really dumb thing to vote off Tyrone. I like Jill and I like Jane - I am glad that Jane warned the young 'uns about Marty, but she has a different impression of Jill than I do. I do not like Na - even with her new vulnerability, she is still nasty. I think I am rooting for Jane.
