Ok who is going to watch Survivor with me?

2tzus, I was composing that exact point when I got to the last post - yours. The others aren't falling for his crap - they're dragging him to the end to be their 'goat' who won't get any votes. I agree with how many people are left that it's going to be a F3 (aren't most seasons that have this many people to start out with?), but Russell and Parvati both act like they're plotting for F2. Parvati wanted to sit opposite either Russell or Danielle and I think would easily beat both. Russell wanted Candice because the jury has a majority of Heroes and she betrayed them. I think he was plotting to cut Parvati at the last minute after her jury-impressing "protect my whole damned tribe" move 2 weeks ago and replace her with Candice. And now both of their plans are screwed. And neither seem to be taking Sandra seriously enough. Lots of fun this season!

Great points about taking Russell to the final. It does make my projection look off the wall, but I just have this vibe.......................... We'll see what happens.
-
I'm going to miss the finale, as I'm going on vacation and my red-eye flight to London leaves Sunday at 9 pm - just when the show starts! And I'm going to be gone a week and offline, but I'm not going to be able to avoid knowing who won. So I made the decision that after tonight's show and chatting about it, I'm going to break down and read the spoilers on Friday that I've been avoiding until now, so that I'll know what happens. I'm not going to ruin tonight's show for myself, but can't stand the thought of hearing in the media who won without knowing how it happens. So I'll be back to chat tonight here and on Television Without Pity at http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=682, but won't post after that.
-
Well, show, you did a good job of confusing me about the dynamics of the people left. I was right about Russell planning to ditch Parvati, but then he didn't. And what were Sandra and Parvati thinking, poking at Russell like that? It's still far from a done deal for either of them to make it to the end, so don't get stupid and cocky now! Sandra knew she had a HII, but Parvati didn't, and as far as we know, she didn't know Sandra had one, either. And I didn't believe for a second that Sandra wasn't going to use her idol; why wouldn't she?
Sigh. I guess all will be clearer tomorrow when I read the spoilers. Adieu for this season, ladies!
-
Enjoy your vacation, Riley! Thank you for that link. I went to it yesterday and they really did know who was going home last night. I am going to stay away from it until Sunday.
I m sorry to see Rupert go - there goes my prediction. Of the remaining folks - I want anyone but Russell to win.
-
What a bunch of misfits!
-
Finale tonight!!
The only one I don't want to win is Colby!
-
So glad that Sandra won......I would have been happy with parv...but not Russell
-
So glad Russell didn't win. I think Pav had the best move with the two idols and I think she should have won, but I am fine with Sandra. I can't believe Russell did win the 100,000 for best player awarded by votes on the website. He is so obnoxious!!!
-
Russell just doesn't seem to get that the game he plays is not Survivor as we know it. That is why it isn't as black and white as he would like. The social part of the game is probably the hardest for the competitive types of contestants that it attracts. I mean really, calling one of the best loved players terrible names and then evicting him while lying to him....may have been strategic for getting to the end of the game but not too smart when you also expect him to put his human emotions aside to give you his vote.
I did love the way that Jeff handled the reunion. Wanted to hear more from Boston Rob though.
-
I totally agree with you 2tuzs..
I checked in here from time to time but only posted once. My opion I believe wouldn't be the majority vote.
I just have to add I never knew survivor had become a game of not hurting anybodys feelings.
I am an extremely competative person, so seeing someone that can't hold their own in challenges dosen't deserve to win either. Meaning if Russ was a bad social player than sandra wears the crown for the wimpyest. it should have went to Parv
-
I watched it 'live' but had to think about what to post. I, too, felt the finale was anti-climactic. They all played a good game, in their own way, but I think Sandra deserved it the least. Russell is a damn good player and considering he did back-to-back seasons I'm sure he was tired both physically and mentally but he still managed to scheme and get other's to do his bidding. So what if he was a bully or had no social skills? Winning this game is about being the best player not about if you're the nicest or the best liked. If everyone hated him so much he should have been voted out bit it seemed everyone was afrain of him. No where in the editing was it mentioned (I don't think?) that any one of the other players were bringing him along to the end so that he wouldn't get any votes. Did I miss those conversations?
I do agree that the scheming and twists were good this season but I'm disappointed.
-
Well I wrote my post way to early in the morning..WOW all the spelling errors:))
Anyway I have felt for the past 2 shows the jurors have been more like a group of "sour apples"
I just don't understand why you would give your vote to someone who did nothing. But this seems to be the trend among reality shows. Giving the title to the one who rides the "coattails" or does very min. in the game.
-
I have to make a comment here - I think the main reason why the jury did not vote for Russell's game is that his game was to bully and intimidate people and most folks will not reward a bully. Being sly and lying doesn't really disqualify someone from deserving to win, but being a bully just goes against the grain of most people. Russell also did things just to be mean - burning people's socks, hiding the machete, emptying water bottles - none of that would advance his game - it was just part of his nasty game of intimidation. He actually stated that Sandra's tossing his hat in the fire was a good move in his opinion because it rattled him at tribal and it certainly would be something he would have done. My biggest problem with Russell is his overbearing belief that he should not ever be crossed and that he was always right. God bless his wife because I don't know how she puts up with him. As ever, JMHO.
-
I am surprised that Sandra is taking such heat for the hat burning. If I had been listening to Russell tell me how wonderful he was and how everyone where there at his behest, I would have burned it to! What about the stuff he burned and hid at the beginning of his seasons? That was hateful.
I would have preferred to see Parvati win but was just as happy with Sandra. I certainly don't expect them to do so without lying and scheming. But were was the social game that Russell played? He berated and belittled the very people who he was relying on to vote for him. I think it is easy to play a one sided game be it the schemer or the social player. But the game is won by the person who can do both, successfully.
-
Just to set the record straight - Russell burned some one's socks - they even showed a clip of it on Sunday night. So, he did destroy personal property of another contestant. The reason why I used the term bully is because that is what I saw him as. It doesn't help when I read in the news that he is arrested in New Orleans for throwing an eighteen year old girl to the ground because "she was too close to him." So, yes, my view of him is tainted. I also found his sulking through the last reunion show and his insistence that "there has to be a flaw" in the game because he didn't win the actions of a true megalomaniac and I don't believe he should have been rewarded for that. I do think Pav should have won over Sandra, but Sandra won as the the least of the evils. Honestly, if Jeri had gone to the final three, she would have won unanimously. JMHO
-
Did you hear Russell state that the burning of his hat was a good strategic move because it flustered him at Tribal? Who can say that the only reason Sandra burned Russell's hat was her dislike for him? Don't get me wrong - I am not going to defend Sandra - she is not a gracious winner by any stretch of the imagination. I am just saying that she may have had the very same reason for burning Russell's hat as Russell had for burning (I think) Tyson's socks. She just didn't verbalize it at the time. JMHO
-
It doesn't matter WHY Russell burned the socks. It was down right mean and cruel. It is one of the few "comforts" they have. And I must say that I really do think Russell's comments about Sandra were quite nasty and hateful. Sounds like the biggest 'cry baby' of them all. IMHO.
I just want to clarify the 'bullying' issue. It is horrible to be psychologically bullied. From what I saw and snippets that I have heard, Russell was relentless in this aspect. Yes it was his 'strategy'. But it didn't work very well for him...either time.
-
I'm so thrilled Sandra won and that she is also not in the least intimidated by Russell the Bully! What a great win, made even better by having Russell end up with a HUGE GOOSE EGG in the vote! Mwahahahahaha!
The man is a socio-path and has absolutely no ability to read either other people through social cues, or his own behavior.
He also has no clue what the game Survivor is all about! And I'm thrilled to see him end up kicked to the curb in TWO back-to-back seasons!
Sandra, you go girl! Keep calling him what he is, a Goat Troll!
I would like to see Goat Troll Russell and his wife do a stinto on the Amazing Race, however. What great television THAT would make! Of course, in reality, I would really feel bad for his wife!
-
Sandra is NOT an ungracious winner. She's simply trying to keep it from being all about Russell--AGAIN!
-
"OMG! This isn't a game for pansies and pantiewaists. If you can't handle being "psychologically bullied" you have no business playing Survivor. Period."
I definitely agree with you on this point. But what Russell forgot was that people who are 'psychologically bullied' are not inclined to be on your side when you want their votes. Not a smart move in the end.
-
I was thrilled that Sandra won...Remember the name of the show is SURVIVOR...I think Sandra did a great job staying in the game even though she is not a strong physical player...she did outwit, outplay and outlast..I would have been ok with Parv winning..
-
I don't think Sandra calling Russell a "scumbag" comes close to Russell calling various women in both seasons "dumb bitches" or "stupid bitches". I also think the destruction of personal property is what is wrong; it's not OK if you have the 'right' motive. I would have preferred Parvati winning, but was fine with Sandra and would have been fine with Jerri, too.
-
Everybody's comments make good sense. Obviously, this was a GREAT season since everyone is STILL talking about it!! I think Russell played an excellent game and deserved to win. If future casts are to be made up of Little Miss Sunshine's and Pollyanna's--well, it won't be Survivor any longer.
I think even sweet Rupert did a little bullying--the night the tribe was trying to sleep and Rupert stayed out by the fire--cracking that firewood and breaking branches. For you who have never camped--breaking a good, dry branch late at night when all is still, can sound like a gunshot! I think he was purposefully trying to keep his tribe members from sleeping, more than keeping the fire going..........
I agreed wholeheartedly with the Sprint Player award going to Russell--and, I think that says it all!!!
see y'all next season!!!
-
How was I "ascribing psychological disorders to Survivor players", since I'm the one you addressed? And it's a lowercase 'r': riley, not Riley.
-
I don't know why we are arguing about the word "scumbag". The definition seems to fit even if it isn't the most eloquent way of saying it.

Has anyone read Jeff's latest post on the finale?
I now know why Russell said he played "one long game" and not two separate games. Very interesting. Would he have played the second time differently had he known the outcome of the first game before? Maybe, just a little?

I notice there is a Survivor--Nicaragua Preview on tonight (Sunday) at 8 pm Central time. Can't wait until Wednesday...looking forward to "chatting" with y'all again!!!!!!!
-
Damn, I missed it
Wish you would have posted on Saturday Junie! Crap crap crap.....was it good?
I am going out of town and won't get to watch it until Sunday night. So, see y'all Monday!
