Just got home with DH. They not only biopsied his tongue, they removed a section from the back to the front, along the side.  It is nasty to look at and very painful.  They gave him oxycodone to take for pain.  Those meds make me nervous and he doesn't like to take them, but he did, he was in a lot of pain.  The doctor said he though it looked b9, but we won't get the path report until next friday.  So I am at home taking care of him like he did for me.  I hate seeing him in pain.  I am joking with him that the good news he will lose a few pounds since he can't eat!

Thanks for all your prayers and concern.

And, Kathi, EVERYTHING you write is educational, fun to read, entertaining, and excellent.

Sharon and everyone thanks for your support.  As for my MIL I got a lecture after 3 days after my last chemo. about the state of my house....if I get it this time I will not think twice about telling her she needs to get a hotel room.  My patience are gone.....

Linda~ I am praying for B9 results.  It sounds really painful.

Jaimie, I think you should leave everything where it is and see if your MIL will clean it up for you.  I don't blame you for running out of patience!

Linda, what can I say that hasn't been said before?  Just praying all is ok.......and may a benign result come in WAY sooner than a week Friday.  Hugs hugs hugs.

To all those who must clean for company...............FORGET IT!  If anyone needs a lecture it isn't someone whose been dealing with surgery, chemo, rads, tests, whatever.  In fact.........having read your post Jaimie, I wouldn't even clean the bathroom!!  And I think having a scan tomorrow would relieve you of all cleaning responcibilities Jane.

Kak........hugs and all is crossed for good results.

Arnie!  I love your work!  It's beautiful.  Do you sell your treasures?  If so, do you have a web site?

Linda, what an awful place to get a biopsy.  Lordy.  I'll be thinking of you both while you wait for results.  I just got mine & the mamm was NEGATIVE, so I am sending that positive negativity your way for your DH's biopsy.

And Linda, thank you for saying such nice things about my writing.  Arnie, your a writer's dream reader!!  LOL, you always hope what you write will make someone stop & stay a while.

Jamie, I just can't get over how inconsiderate & stupid people who supposedly care about us can be when we are going through this experience.  An older woman friend of mine has frequently asked me how I'm doing, only to tell me after I respond that I'm being negative.  I finally told her the last time we talked that if she doesn't want an honest answer when she asks how I am, then I just won't tell her anymore.  I also said she needed to learn the difference between feelings and attitude.  I haven't heard from her since.  Hugs to you.  WE understand.

bkc, I love the sound of both of those colors!!

BTW, if you want some decent information about fatigue, DON'T read that Medical Expert Q & A on Fatigue that gets flashed here on the sidebar called "Running on Empty."  There is not ONE ACTUAL PHYSICIAN on the discussion panel, and the discussion once again offers a lot of glib rehashed info that completely misses the point.  It was obvious to me from reading it that none of these women had actually done a review of the research literature on CRF or even looked at the basic info on treatment of Cancer Related Fatigue that is listed on the National Cancer Institute website.  Shame on them.   And one of them was a survivor.  Words fail me.

Hi everyone,xx ooo xx thank you for all the birthday wishes, the most fuss I had came from here as hubby away on work.

Soorrrrrry if I have not been "on" much since back from holls. It's been this post 1st Special educational needs Tribunal mess I am dealing with; DH working away, Judge in our case has RE- issued her order and directions 2ce since her 1st erronious ruling; each time making the matter worse. On my Birthday yesterday, I was told that it is the SAME JUDGE THAT WILL consider weather we have leave to appeal to the higher tribunal to redress the points in law!  Today I finally found out that after she refuses this (we know her character  now and how careless she has been to date, so sje will) we then have recourse to the upper tribunal to ask their permission to appeal to them THEN we hopefully get to move onto the upper tier.. all this whilst occupying the kids and wanting to make their short summer break special. Still, stressed (yep, not like me but such incompetence which directly affects my child gets me that way). I am sooo cross at the hours am having to spend on this.

Rant Rant, I know. Still, beautiful weather and had picknick with kids in park and enjoying them lots. Took my DD for the weekend to a nearby town holliday inn "with a pool"!!! this was our 1st "girl's only"weekend away. It was very special to be able to focus on her without being taken away to tend to her brother's extra needs. We had a very special time, went to the city fair, movie, pool x2 dinner disney store etc, took a bus!(big highlight apparently!). My next onc appointment is on 11th Sept, hopefully all well. Need a good check up of my lemonette body, not great.

I have tryed to catch up with all your news; Jaimie, I am with KAK on cleaning for insensitive company!KAK soory re your great fatigue etc (I am meant to be participating in a study re ongoing post chemo fatigue and accuponcture her in Sept, but may have to bail due to DH's working away)Linda MAK, glad for your B9(, now praying for your guy, xx. )Arnie lovey, so glad you are nearly done with chemo, way to go girl and love the wood/paint work. Jane uk, well done, you have coped so much better then me on FEC. Jane (usa) praying for B9.Well done texa rose you see, told you you'd cope.EBW will pm you my details.faith and fifty sounds like you and yours are doing great!! Coonie and Sharron still spreading the love and encouragement with every post, bless you. Also Coonie glad for your happy check up!

ok ok I know I have missed some of you, forgive me. xxx thinking of you all-Shiny ((((hugs)))))

I'm so grateful to those of you giving shout-outs to the individuals in our ever-growing crowd.

    welcome bewbies

Shiny, so very dreadfully sorry that you're having to do battle with the very entities that should be on your side -- leading the charge. What a crazy conundrum. I just sit here shaking my head, everytime I hear that it continues. So sorry sweetie. Your triumph will be so vindicating. Keep moving forward, despite the frustration. You will persevere, as you are a mother. ((((((SHINY))))))))

    Can't keep my eyes open.

Maybe I'll go get some dinner together..... maybe that will wake me up.

Great news now for KAK, MAK and Coonie.

Jane, we're all sending our encouragement to you.

I think I've got it correct that our Deb-OH has been in & now out of the ER. Please send her good thoughts. I saw it on FB & think I'm correct. They did many, many tests.

Barbe, where are you??? I need your wedding-tales.

bkc: loved the sound of those colors -- it's so neat that you let your girls make their own choices.

Kathleen: I can only imagine the effort that it takes to remain positive, with so much pain. I'm so sorry, but hoping for healing ahead.

Arnie: You sound like you're starting to perk up again. HALLELUJAH.

Sharon: I still think you should share your "sharing-of-dinner" story here. Please?????

Jane: You do such an amazing job of acknowledging so many. Bravo!!

Rosie Tex: I'm so glad to hear of your progress, with minimal s.e. Hip, Hip, Hooray.

Elaine: please PM me your address (again). I think it got buried in my PM pile & I'd love to send a greeting to your mom. How's she doing lately??

Holly: Have you already started back to work? I'm glad that it worked out.

Jam: please insist that your company help you. Geeesh. Send 'em a memo if necessary.

Mr. MAK: sending you something slurpy that slides down easily. Prayers in the waiting.

Cheryl: how are you adjusting to the new schedule @ work? Is it working for you??

Nancy: be careful, with the floor/water/air conditioner. CAREFUL!!

Julz: we want a full report about your grandson's latest talents.

Lori: what fun is on your agenda??

Now of course I've gone and gotten a list, without a reference list to double check.

Know I think of everyone, when I read your post -- then the swiss cheese brain takes over. LOL.

Arnie - your stuff is so clever and charming.  It must be wonderful to have such talent - everything is so creative.  You should open a boutique!

KAK - more prayers that your husband's biopsy comes back b9.  I would, unfortunately would use this opportunity to eat all the ice cream I wanted!

Lucy - I am so so so happy for you.  You deserve it!

I went to the doctor today for a nerve conduction test on my right foot (yes, the same one the ulcer is on)_.  You may or may not know that I now have a dropped foot on the right.  I walk like Chester on Gunsmoke!  There is a definite hitch in my getalong.

When I got to the office for my 10:30 appointment, the doctor, who was very apologetic and nice, explained that the office I was in did not have the machine to do the test - I should have been seen at their other location but he had called the other location and got me a 2:30 appointment today.  When I made the appointment I specifically told them it was for a nerve conduction test  Anyway, the doctor did the test, told me I had neuropathy (duh!) and that there was minor muscle damage but it looked like it was the covering of the nerve, not the nerve itself, which tends to heal itself over the course of several weeks.  He thought maybe I slept on it wrong.  I told him I always slept on my right side as I had a replaced shoulder on the left.

I really wanted their Leesburg office but they initially made the appointment for the Sterling office.  Had I known I had to go to Leesburg I could have made arrangements to either see my podiatrist for the ulcer or my orthopedic surgeon for follow up!  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.  Literally, the podiatrist is in one office, the office I eventually went to for the test shares a waiting room with the orthopedic surgeon and is across the hall from the podiatrist.

To everyone - Have a lovely evening.

Kathleen... geesh!  They don't realize how they inconvienence us...but let it be the other way around!  Tongue out  I do hope he's right about it healing though...

Faith...man lady you really covered all ground...I'm impressed! lol  How much longer you got in WI?

    Everyone else...HUGS and sweet dreams!

Linda, I just want you to know that the rumors of my having a cyber affair with your DH, Mr. Mak, are greatly exaggerated.

For those of you dealing with fatigue, have you tried Provigil at all?  It's a narcolepsy med, and that's what I actually take it for, but it's an amazing drug (in my opinion) and is considered fairly safe and prescribed for a lot of other things as well, like work shift disorder.  Out of all of the meds that I take for lupus or cancer or narcolepsy I think it's added the most functionality to my life.  Without it I sleep twelve to twenty hours a day uncontrollably and on it I sleep perhaps eight to twelve, some nights only six (although that's with a purposeful effort to stay up late or wake up early).  It's not an upper and doesn't make me hyper, just makes me a normal amount of awake like I used to be before the weariness set in and when it wears off I sleep normally.  In fact, it doesn't even keep me from napping if I want to.

My project today was supposed to be cleaning the aquarium and chinchilla cages, but I only got half of the aquarium cleaning done.  Was a herceptin treatment day, though, and IV benedryl and narcolepsy aren't a combination for getting much done, you know?

Good morning Arnie.  By the way, I live smack in the middle of those two offices so I was backtracking.  Today I have to take the cat to the vet - a specialist in hyperthyroidism (sp?).  Why in the heck I made the appointment for 9:30 I don't know.  I will be stuck in rush hour.  The vet is 25 miles away.

    Sharon - really cool picture.

Jgrim - I used to have two chinchillas.  They are great pets except for that darn dust bath - can we say fine white dust everywhere!

KAK, I'm glad the rumors are exaggerated.  DH just left for work, I dropped him off at the train.  He can't talk, can't eat, but desperately needs his job, so off he goes.  I feel so bad for him.

Welcome Jgrim.  Thanks fo rthe suggestions.  Hope you are feeling better from your treatments.

KMC what a day you had!  Sorry to hear about all the confusion!

I am about to jump right in without reading the last 16 pages or so. I am back from my son's wedding up north and had to get a new hard drive in my computer! Guess the last one just couldn't handle all the posts....sigh.

Please someone who is amazing on recaps, how is everyone? I've caught up in my other threads except this one and Escape as they move too quick. I will post pix on Friday, my day off.

Wow, I didn't realize Coonie was an actual coon, heh.  I have a fox, which is probably just about as much trouble (I hear coons are a bit destructive).  Actually, I think probably nothing is as much trouble as a fox.  The other night I dreamt I turned her into a purse, and at first I couldn't decide if that was a nightmare...

Welcome back Barb.  Everyone is OK.  There were lots of test while you were gone but I think everyone said they were OK.  KMC had a doctors visit from hell, though. I think you read Mom's farewell before you left.  I still miss her and think of her daily.  Isn't it great that she brought all of us together??  KAK is having a cyber affir with my DH.  SHe also wrote a great article on fatigue, it's on her blog.

I know I missed tons of other stuff, but I have no brain left.  We're glad your back.  Post some pics when you can.

BTW, Barb, my BIL is getting married next pril at the Boca Marina in Boca Chica.  Sound familiar??

JGrim~ I have provigil because I have a form of narcolepsy (sp).  I went thru that testing last summer.  I haven't taken it since my diagnosis but I agree what a wonderful drug.

Okay after my bad talk about my MIL I need to come back with some good talk.  My aunt decided she was coming over yesterday and today to clean for me :).  I still am having problems bending down but I have been doing it.  I still have 6 incisions on my belly from my kidney surgery that are not healed yet.
