Hi Tracey, Isn't Annie sweet??? I am so glad we got her as a group coordinator especially now that we found out that she understands and is one of the sisters.  She told me once the group was set up to give her a call and she would put me in contact with concierge and see if we can get some ideas about entertainment and possibly some group discounts.

Ladies I think we are going to have a blast in Vegas...I cannot wait

    Hugs

Thanks girls!!  I am doing much better...although I have celulitis AGAIN!  Which is probably the cause of the fever.  We are keeping a very close eye on it and it has been subsiding.  AND NO MORE FEVER!!  YAY!  I am taking my pain meds on a regular basis so I'm staying on top of the pain.  It's taken me a long time to learn this.  I am quite swollen and I'm not too sure how long it will take to go down.  I had my post op yesterday, you can picture this...hubby and dr- arms crossed looking at me shaking their heads.  I keep telling them I will be fine and ready for my next surgery in 3 weeks.  Today I had my herceptin infusion and my oncologist came over to talk to us.  He was telling us how upset he was that I went through with this surgery...urgh...here's the picture once again....hubby and dr- arms crossed shaking their heads.  I started to cry... URGH  Why in the world can't they feel the emotions I have?  I just want to get all of this done and on to better things!  I cannot understand my emotions and they change all the time.  My doctors and of course my hubby all want me to be completely healthy before moving forward.  I feel like I have that wonderwoman cape on and can do anything.  I know I should feel so beyond blessed that so many care about me, but dang it I want that next surgery!!!!

OK I goggled this space age contraption he has me wearing and unfortunately there isn't a good pic of it.  It's called ivivi.  Here's the link: http://www.ivivitechnologies.com/

I just KNOW Annie is gonna be the "in" we need to get what we want.  haha!  VEGAS HERE WE COME!!

Oh another thing...I have only been sleeping in 2 hour intervals.  Dr. thinks it could be the steriods they were giving me in the hospital. So I told him I still have Ativan for when I was going through chemo, tried 2 of them last night and for the first time was able to sleep!!!  YAY!!

OK I'll stop blabbin.  Movie in and daughter and I are ready to watch!  Ta Tas for now!!

    Jazzy

Great that the fever is gone and yah!!! that you got a good nights sleep....and yes I can just picture the DH and Doc with arms crossed shaking their heads, they just don't get it LOL

    Mona,

so sorry you won't be joining us....but I totally understand...If I did not have a little savings of my own put aside to do some things that "I" want to do then I would not be going....we just had to buy a new clothes dryer (to be delivered this morning, 1 week without a dryer)  and my son's truck is sitting in our garage and we are afraid it is the transmission (thank God we have an extra car) so the truck will just have to wait a while to be fixed, my surgery bills are coming in and still owe on my new furniture....OH and did I mention in July our home insurance and auto insurance is due at the same time.......so Mona I understand......our emergency savings is tied up in CD so can't get into it for months without penalty......so hopefully we won't have to borrow "my savings" to fix dear son's  truck.....thanks for letting me vent......got to go because my new dryer is here!!!!!

    HI Girl's

I go in Monday for surgery-my story has a bit of a twist to it.Here is a small run down- I didn't start out with Cancer, but it climb aboard with all the other issues. I almost died from Diverticulitis in late Dec 06,had a bag for 6 months, dealt with staph & MERSA every 2 weeks with 3-7 outbreak's,early Sept 07 Breast cancer-like you all, dealt with the side effect's of the chemo & Major side effect's from Herceptin-taken off after 6 treatment's. Because of the HER 2, I decided to have a full Hysterectomy(not enough knowledge to prove to me I wouldn't be at risk of getting cancer there too)& they found a cyst on my ovary, plus found I tested high for the BRACKA gene(create's ovarin cancer)so with all those fact's it was a go,ended up with emergency Laparoscopic Hernia surgery before we could do the Hysterectomy-but after all of this.....a stich came undone & I ended up with yet another hernia. I have mesh covering the 1st 2,which went from the size of a quarter to 8",now they needed to put in another piece of mesh-this part started in Feb 09,I then ended up with a wound infection-surgery again, then another wound infection showed up a month ago, been dealing with temp.'s of 100-101 for the past month,so the thought is after the CT scan,I have a abyss over the mess & it has been draing for the past month & now there is this growth, the antibiotic's haven't cured it-so in we go, won't know if it is the mesh tell I'm cut open,if it is,the mesh will have to come out & I might be dealing with having more hernia's-not a option, told my surgeon to find something else.  Alot of my medical has been going on & I've no immune to fight off alot of it.I've had 18 surgeries,20 visit's to Er & about 6 months total time spent in the hospital in the last 2 1/2 year's.  I'm tired, what keep's me going is I've got a beautiful 5 year old daughter & a Great "ROCK" of a husband. My Family of friends & You all for support!!  I've was recently told that I may not be able to have reconstruction due to the way my body react's. My left side has a crater due to all the time's I got Cellulitit's & then staph & Mersa-I too was promised a tummy tuck cause of all the damage the hernia's did & staph, that may not happen either-so now I'm not to happy.  I want to Thank you to all of you for letting me vent

Vegas if my Rainbow to help me get thru my Storm

    Take care  Chow  XOXO Susie

Susie- "told my surgeon to find something else" - rofl

Janet- "I just hope when you read what you typed you will realize the importance of you staying down to recover"- Miss Pot calling Miss Kettle Black????

I have called twice to the hotel to book it with Annie but both times ended up just before they closed and I get a recording telling me to leave my info and they'll call me back.  Bleh. Do they answer the phone if I call earlier?  I still dunno if we can make it but as my energy is returning (sometimes) and also I just lost a friend and also I realize that I really need to be around you gals who understand what kinda weird stuff I am going through mentally.  Anyway, I am going to try to book rooms for me, the kid & nanny, and see what the cancellation policy is.

Tracey- definitely sounds right to go for the surgeon who does the grafting stuff all the time.  Good call imho.

Oh and Judy- for my colonoscopy I put a temporary tattoo of a Van Gogh masterpiece on my arse sideways, it was the Church at Arles.  When my doc saw it he nearly plotzed.  He said "did you do this for me?" I said, relax doc, its temporary, you don't think I'd put it permanently sideways on my butt do ya?  But yes, I thought he should have something nice to look at while he's back there.

For my IVF I was going to wear crotchless undies but I knew it would utterly freak out my reproductive endocrinologist...

For the lumpectomy I was going to wear pasties, but I knew they'd wrap me in ace bandages after surgery and I thought they might leave the pasties on under the bandages.  (My first surgical biopsy I tried using a make up pencil to draw a face on my good boob and an arrow pointing to the bad boob, but it smeared and then I was all worried I had made the area unsterile.)

It's nice to know I'm in good company! :D

    Doll's eyes... hilarious!

You're as nuts as I am!!  You go girl..!  You gotta laugh, it's the best alternative.  If I weren't laughing, I know I'd be crying all the time.  So laughter it is..  JUDY

  • Linda54
    edited June 2009

I am a true believer in laughter as medicine.....I like to be fully aware when I am taken into the OR...right before my bi-lat MX I was laughing it up with the nurses in the OR and also at my exchange...my friends cane to my house after I came home from the hospital and had me laughing...great!............4 weeks ago for my revision the antitheseologist (sp)  was putting something into my IV before I could say anything (this was before I was wheeled into the OR) and she said this will relax you (hey I don't need help to be relaxed) so I was out of it and did not get to laugh with the nurses in the OR.....it will NOT happen again because I will tell the doc up front not to give me that stuff......I DO NOT Want it.......DO NOT need it.......

After my hysterectomy I 'complained' to my surgeon that my incision wasn't very straight. "Hey, I went to med school, not art school", he answered.

So, when I was going in for my double mast, I was going to tape a ruler across my chest, but then my DH reminded me that the doc was holding a scalpel! Yell

    Rachel, love the tatoo story

Barbe, DH had a point, that's funny

    Suszie, sent you a PM

  • NVDiane
    edited June 2009

Hey girls, laughing is soooo much better than crying! And isn't it wise to be sure the person with the scalpel is in a good mood?!

My PS promised me that I would be bodacious when we were finished. So, when I went in for my (left) exchange, I stuck a note in my gown over my soon-to-be-removed expander that said "Bodacious or bust!" My PS liked it and showed it to the other doctors in the prep room.

For my last surgery three weeks ago, he added an implant to the healthy (right) girl so they would match.  My note over the right girl this time said "Please Supersize Me!".  They put me out before I could see what my PS said about it, but DH said when the nurse called him to say they were starting the surgery, she was laughing so hard he could hardly understand her, so he must have shared that note too!

I don't  wish to burst the funny bubble but everyone needs to be careful about putting things close to where the operation will be because of the GERMS!!!!!  I always make sure that the clothes that I am wearing to the hospital have been washed with a germ killing detergent.....I have not had any problems with infections......

Linda - I am with you!  I was so calm for the BLM I said "no" to having a sedative.  I said I was as relaxed as could be.  Same for the exchange surgery.  But for my revision, before I could say anything, they had put Versed into my IV.  So I too did not get to kibosh with the nurses in the OR this time.  Or maybe I did.  Who knows WHAT I said to them on the Versed.

  • Rachel_BC
    edited June 2009

Dude... I'm taking all the sedatives they give me for surgery!!!!  Actually, I was waking up from lumpectomy and heard the surgeon telling them to crank up the radio for his favorite Coldplay song.  I was busy gauging the effects of the drugs- like I wanted to get the heck outta there- and reminisced about some of my recreational drug use and observations from 15 years with the Rolling Stones on tour... I insulted Coldplay, saying they would all be mowing lawns next summer and then told him some dish about Keith Richards...

Later when I came back to get my stitches out, he came in and I started to ask him questions.  He said, don't misunderstand, I never come in for stitch removals but you are so funny, I just had to.

    :)

Then he told me about seeing the Doors in 1971 when he was 17.... and I found a clip on youtube of the concert for him.

I love love love the anesthesiologist.  I have proposed to every one.  Hook me up to that valium drip babe...

    Rachel you CRACK ME UP!

I could hardly wait to tell my surgeon my joke when I woke up....she had never heard this one...The patient says to the surgeon: Doc I can't feel my legs!!!" The surgeon says: "I know I cut off your arms".  Bwhahahahaha

WE HAVE OUR ROOM WE HAVE OUR ROOM!!!!  Susie secured our room and we both have our airline tix!!  WOO HOO!!  Anybody flying out of PDX let me know so you can join us on our flights!!!  DV8Q also has her flight with us as well as a room with us!!!  the 3 of us are all ready to go!!!....ok maybe a little bit of recovery and surgeries in between, but by then we will be so READY!!!  WOO HOO!!!!

I hope you all are enjoying the day.  I am still stuck to the couch which is where I sleep, eat, sleep, eat...you get the picture.  I haven't slept with my DH for over a week now. I'm just a permenent fixture to this couch..
