Single Pink Rose for AlaskaDeb

Dear John and Girls, Thank you SOO much for your wonderful description of Deb's Celebration of LIfe! I really wish I could have been there. It sounds like it was a "Hoot" (in Deb's words!) The thing I most loved about your post was that you didn't want a "funeral." I agree that the services that I remember most and love to go to are the ones where the people there laugh and celebrate their loved one's life and how wonderful they were. I always think that the person we are all talking about wants us to be happy and go on with our earthly lives, and know that they are okay and in good hands! I can't lie that I will miss Deb's wonderful insights into this insidious disease, and her quirky sense of humor. Please stay in touch with us and know that there are many many women here ready to support you and your girls whenever you need us. God bless you! Anne from Oregon

I'm glad to hear Deb's service was a celebration of her life. I can't think of anything more appropriate than giving all the pink roses from her cyberfriends to her friends in real life. Only with the hands of many can the burdens be made light.
I have the enlarged photo of her avatar on my desktop. Her avatar always put a smile on my face. Now that I can see the larger version in a bit more detail, I have a vision of what might have been happening at that moment. It's obvious in the avatar that she is smiling, but in the larger photo, I can that her eyes are sparkling and beaming with light. It looks as if someone she loves deeply has just entered the room and she is greeting them with radiant joy. I don't know how she kept her spirit so resilient. She inspires me to do more. Maybe she can be my muse now.

John, I didn't know Deb very well. I only knew her from reading her posts during the last year. Her posts made me laugh during some of my darkest hours. I know she was a witty and an amazing woman. She made a mark in so many lives all over the world. She will always be with us.

I don't know AlaskaDeb, but when I learned of her passing a few days ago, I was immediately upset and logged right back out. I did not know what to say, nor could I understand how I could be experiencing real pain for someone I did not know? But, last night I read every one of these posts, and watched the news clip, and had tears streaming down my face into the wee hours of the morning. AlaskaDeb was a beautiful person, as are the women on the is board, who gave an incredible gift to a grieving husband and family, the gift of love. My heart goes out to all of you, and to AlaskaDeb's family. God Bless.
