    I just saw all this this morning. I've been out of touch due to an ice storm that has taken the power (and heat) away for awhile. I will try and add a rose this afternoon. This is such an awesome thing to do. I always looked forward to posts from Deb, and am glad we can find a way to honor her.

    Make sure you click on the Deb's Relay link above, and that you see Deb's page, with her picture, before you donate. The site can be a little tricky, friends of mine have accidently donated to Making Strides in general, instead of to my page specifically. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but if you want the donation to be "credited" to Deb's team, you have to do it on her page.

    Can I say how wonderful all of you women are?  Deb deserves this tribute and I am proud to be part of it.  Thank you so much Donna and Traci.

    Hi Karen and Doreen -

    I got your PM's and sent a message on to the Gov's press secretary and copied the Gov.  I sent you both copies of what I sent.  I included my address and phone number to prove I was Alaskan.

    I also told them about the KTUU news story - that may help her to do something.

    I just called the florist and they are open now.  It is 1:00 EST.  She was so nice.  I started saying why I was calling and she said, "All you need to say is that you want a pink rose."  I forgot to ask how many they have so far.

    What a wonderful idea. I just ordered one and the florist said that they are up to 189. I will also be donating to relay for life. Will be thinking of Deb and her family tomorrow. Will be praying for peace for them.

    The governor is in Washington, D.C., today and tomorrow, with a packed schedule, so I will not be able to draw her attention to this in time for the KTUU story or the memorial service. But as someone who is dealing with cancer myself right now, I can assure you that the governor is very sensitive to these issues, and she has embarked on a comprehensive review of health care needs and services in the state.

    Donna & Traci...Thank you both SO MUCH for doing this for Deb and for us! It took alot of energy and planning and look at what you've pulled off!

    The girls up in the flower shop do sound a litle tired, but I'm sure that they're happy to be participating in such an awesome effort. I did feel a little stupid though because I kept telling the woman (Mona?) that I "live in the United States"...as if she doesn't! Geez Embarassed!

    I just need to add that you are all amazing sisters!!!!

    They are still taking orders, the lady said they have to 'loads' full (couldn't ask what exactly that meant because I was choking up but I think it is a lot  )

    wow..and more wow!! I am amazed how this has grown...to know they will be looking at all of our roses tomorrow...won't be a dry eye in the place.

    Lorie...thank you! Fantastic that you got a response so quickly!! By the looks of it...Gov. Palin will hopefully put that at the top of her list.

    I work for KTUU News in Anchorage, Alaska and was made aware of AlaskaDeb in a roundabout way.  But even before that, one of our reporters is already in Soldotna working on this story.  If you live in Alaska, it will be in our 6pm newscast.  If you don't live here, you'll be able to find the story at http://www.ktuu.com/ sometime this evening.  I'll post a link later when I find out what it is.

    How very kind of you to seek us out and let us know. As you can see, Deb made quite an impact around here. I never had the pleasure of meeting her in person, but I have the CD she made and sent out to a large group of women on these boards permanently in slot 6 of my car's CD player, and I have the precious memories of the times she reached out to me to lift me up when I was down. That's just the kind of girl she was.

    Thank you so much, Peggy. I, like so many women on this board, never got the privilidge of meeting Deb in person, but her love and zest for life was apparent in every word she wrote. I look forward to reading Deb's story...she was an amazing woman who will be missed...

    How wonderful Peggy. I met Deb in New York during the first Pinkstock. She was a wonderful lady and friend to many.  Thank you for letting us know.  I look forward to watching this as well.

    Hey sisters, I haven't read all of the posts (I'm multi-tasking like mad right now), but I wanted to tell you that I pre-paid for two other roses if there is any body who might not be able to afford to send one. 

    PLEASE either PM me or post a note so I can call the shop back and give them your names! 

    I just want all of us to be able to be included in this. 

    The shop lady was super sweet.  She handled my blubbery-voiced order like a champ.

    As soon as she answered the phone, I was like, "Deb was such a phenomenal woman!!!!!!"  I hardly gave her a chance to process who was calling her.

    The flower shop has done an exceptional job of making this special dream come true...do we have an address for them? I would like to send then a note of thanks.

    Wish so much I could be there to touch her cheek and tell her "see ya later". Cry
