    Hey all,

I just got off the phone with John. He knows. The whole (little) town is talking about us. A reporter called him and everything.

He was thrilled about what we are doing, and he read through some of the posts on Deb's Angel thread and is very moved by the number of people on here that loved Deb and the messages.

He was laughing like crazy (thought it was great!) about us contacting Obama and Palin and is so greatful for the "rally" we are creating in honor of Deb. He said that this is exactly something Deb would do and he is just loving all of it.

He said he would be sending us some links relating to Deb's service. Stories being read, video, etc. I can't wait to see that.

    Hugs everybody,

    Traci

I'm going to post this message on the other threads so everybody can see it k?

That's fabulous!  So glad that we can create a wave of love and remembrance that is being felt all throughout Soldotna.  That makes me smile.

I forgot to add....he said that Deb was the fundraiser for their Relay for Life. She started doing it for her died that died from cancer years ago.

He said that for the last three years, Deb was the highest per capita fundraiser. She beat Anchorage and her town only has 25,000 people.

    That's our Deb.

He also read some of the posts about people donating to bc.org, Gina's site, and others in honor of Deb. He was extremely greatful for that.

Wow...so many tears reading all of these posts. What a great idea!!! I just ordered a rose, and they have over 160 orders so far, and Tammy said there are over 300 pink roses coming in tomorrow, so there will be enough!

Tammy also wanted me to pass along to everyone here, that Channel 2 news from Anchorage, is coming to interview her tomorrow about Deb, and about this tribute from all of us!

This is all such a wonderful tribute to Deb and her life!  I've never been involved in anything like this before and I'm just so moved by the way she touched so many lives all over the globe.  I can picture her smiling as she sings her heart out with the angel choir...

Like so many who first find this site, I came here to find information and perhaps some statistics that could help me understand this thing called cancer that had invaded my life. What I found though weren't cancer victims, but cancer survivors for whatever time that might turn out to be. Women like so many of you who have faced the battle on a daily basis and live lives full of humor and hope and especially love. That was the surprise that I will carry with me always, the love that flows so freely here. These posts are so typical of that love. I, like so many of you, read the posts that Deb wrote  and my heart was touched and then it was touched again when her husband took up posting when she could no longer do it. I could just picture her there nearby as he became her hands and eyes in those last weeks. What love!   Now all these pink roses, and the love continues to flow......nope cancer never wins...........but love does.

    bee5467,

Thanks for finding the website! I wonder if they will air it tomorrow, or on Sat, the day of the funeral? If anyone sees it, let us know. Oh, and she said they will definately try to send a pic to someone here, to post.

Many, many thanks to CasinoGirl (Donna) and Traci for getting this all started!!! (((HUGS)))

I just ordered my rose.  Poor thing had a hard time understanding me.  My southern drawl.

I picture an aura of love surrounding the pink bouquets.  It will be all of us...there in spirit.

Hugs for John and the girls.

    Hugs for all of us,

    Traci (or anyone)

Any idea if the family is accepting donations for educational fund for the girls or donations anywhere else?  I did a rose, but I was hoping there would be something more.  As the mom of two teen girls myself, Deb's notes about going to ski races and swim meets for her girls while she was dealing with the crap always made a point with me.

Bethie, Where in AL do you live? I live in the northern part of AL. Imagine all the different cities, states, and countries that will be represented in Deb's pink roses!

Sue - you can make a donation to bc.org and then post that it's in honor of livestrong in this topic

    http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/100

Traci thanks so much for posting the update from your discussion with John - and wahine - thanks for letting us know that Tammy is going to be interviewed by a reporter about Deb and this tribute from us .. that's awesome ... I hope they'll post that and then it can be something that we use in the Feb 14th email to Obama and others asking for their help finding our cure ..

I'm not sure how many orders they have gotten but some gals have ordered more than just one rose for Deb.  I'm sure there has to be more than 160 roses - that has to be orders, don't you think?  I really wonder how many roses.

I think something else has been created here in honor of Deb - it is a wonderful reminder to everyone all the women suffering from breast cancer.  Deb has created her own Breast Cancer Awareness and with a news station coming it will reach even farther.

I am so proud to be a part of this and so proud to call all of you my sisters - You are just the greatest.

You might think this is a futile idea as a tribute to Deb, but her passing has just taken me beyond the limit with this disease...here's what I propose.....

We pick one day, and everyone on this board emails Pres.Obama demanding a cure, no more studies on chemo, stats, etc...a cure once and for all.......if nothing else, the publicity from getting so many emails in one day will bring our fight to the forefront........Obama is a new President, he can be molded......it's worth a shot.......He talks so much about what a great country we are, what we can do if we all get together, what change he wants, let's see if he's all talk.......

    What do you all think?

I just called and ordered a rose...this is such a cool tribute to a very cool lady.  Thanks for getting this going!  Love the Feb. 14 letter/email idea, too.

I hate that I had to find this site in the first place, but I love the ladies of BC.org!

    Pam,

Yesterday I received an email from John and the subject line was: In Leiu of Flowers. I had an instant hotflash! It's o.k. though cuz we've talked since then. LOL!

    Here was his email:

    Friends,

We appreciate all the messages, love and support we are receiving but we are overwhelmed with flowers.
Therefore we are asking that in leiu of flowers a donation be made to the ACS Relay for Life.
You can click on the link http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLFY09National?px=9023882&pg=personal&fr_id=17832 or send a check to our PO Box 1151 Soldotna, AK 99669.

    Thank you all
    Love
    John
