I never cared for the smell of Betadine. Just yuck.
Here's some gossipy news and to me, it truly is 100% believable because it's what Melania appeared to be to me:The hotly anticipated book, I'll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw in the Trump White House, by former Trump White House press secretary and Melania Trump's ex-spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, is causing major waves now that excerpts from the memoir are making rounds. It gives readers insight into what Melania was thinking on Jan. 6, the day of the insurrection on Capitol Hill.
Grishman recounts how…communication between her and Melania quickly dissolved as protestors breached the security barricades and stormed the Capitol.
According to the excerpt, via Politico, she texted the first lady, "Do you want to tweet that peaceful protests are the right of every American, but there is no place for lawlessness and violence?""No," Melania wrote back, according to Grisham.
The first lady was too busy to be bothered with the violence unfolding just down the street in Washington, D.C. because "she was at the White House preparing for a photo shoot of a rug she had selected."
Grisham resigned from her position hours after that text message.
That indifference was a continuous theme from Melania as Grisham says she tried to initiate talks about the transition and setting up inauguration tea that has been a tradition since 1952 when the first ladies of the incoming and outgoing administrations meet for a tour of the White House. But the author claims that Melania and Donald believed the election results were fraudulent and no meeting with Dr. Jill Biden ever occurred.
Whereas Grisham used to defend Melania from accusations of being like Marie Antoinette, Politico wrote that she now sees her as "the doomed French queen. Dismissive. Defeated. Detached."

Gee, as if the "I don't care, do you?" jacket wasn't enough of a hint to what Squinty McGolddigger was really like?

All these fatal quack remedies made me think of a court case down in Mississippi back in the 90's. A man had broken into a grandmother's house and attempted to rape her. She grabbed him by the testicles and squoze them until he promised to run away. Her recorded court testimony was hilarious. Part of which went: "... So then I gave them a twist, and he screamed and said, 'You're killing me! You're killing me!' So I said, 'Then die for me, motherfucker, die for me!"
I've reached the "Then die for me" stage in this nonsense.
-
I also read a short time ago that people from Idaho ( no mask or vaccine mandate there ) are over-running the hospitals in Washington state since theirs are so full.
Alice Bastable I love your name for Melania. How many skin lifts can you have before your eyes disappear.
Miriandra, I love that story and I agree. The idiots that use ANYTHING lying about on a drug store shelf to keep from doing the right thing is just too far gone now. Why people have to PROVE they don't need something backed up by medical and scientific well honed testing that has been successfully demonstrated by a healthy portion of our society already. Most of us have a STRONG will to live and they seem to desire heading the opposite direction. While typing that I got a picture of Clint Eastwood saying " Do you feel lucky, punk ? Well, do you ?? " These people must but so many have already found how fickle luck can be.
I also read that Pres. Biden getting this done will bring the vaccination rate way farther up and Goldman Sachs predicted more people vaccinated and economy able to go up again. That is not good news for the Republicans that were hoping to keep everyone sick -- even if it killed a lot of their own constituents. It never too much to convince me that being a Republican was not right for me. Now I see how right my instinct was and if they all go to hell in a handbasket I'll just wave tootle-do, be on your way.

Maybe they should have a spreader colony to go to so they can all enjoy each other.

Read a short while ago that Mark Meadows will have his records picked up by 1/6 investigators too.

Sorta says it all.

Just another bad thing covid can do for you -- make an orphan out of you.
California Couple Dies of Covid, Leaving 5 Kids
Posted: 13 Sep 2021 04:31 PM PDT
Five children, including a newborn, have been orphaned in California after their parents died of COVID-19 two weeks apart. -
It's tragic that children are being orphaned by Covid and to add to the tragedy is the reality that antivaxxers don't care. Certain media people don 't give a shit that the lies they knowingly and intentionally spread are wreaking havoc in our nation.
I did click on the link and it didn't give much info on the couple. People were saying how caring they were. But had they been vaccinated? I will try to learn more.
Along with the antivax woman from Illinois that ChiSandy wrote about, I read of yet another outspoken antivax radio host who just died of Covid.
You know what I haven't read? I haven't read any stories about outspoken pro-vaccine radio hosts or vigilantes or activists or politicians who died from GETTING the vaccine.
Imagine that.
-
Illinois - I'm confused, was he vaccinated or not?

Okay, this is from CNN. The above couple was not vaccinated. I do not agree at all about their reasons to not get it. Look what their indecision did. The husband's mother said it could have happened to anyone. Well, there were actions they could have taken to drastically lessen and prevent this outcome. The couple appears to have been educated, the husband was a teacher. The wife….a nurse.
CNN:
Daniel and Davy Macias spent 18 months being very cautious about 19.Covid-
They wiped down surfaces, showered after work and even had their groceries delivered, but that didn't stop them from contracting the virus.
Davy Macias, a Southern California labor and delivery nurse, was seven months pregnant with her fifth child in early August when she was hospitalized with Covid-19. Daniel Macias also contracted the virus.
Doctors helped Davy Macias, 37, deliver the newborn early by Cesarean section while she was intubated, but she died before she could meet her baby.
Daniel Macias, 38, was being treated in the same hospital when he learned about the birth of his daughter. Nurses showed him photos of the baby, before he too died from complications from the virus less than two weeks later.
The couple was unvaccinated and died on August 26 and September 9, respectively, leaving behind children ranging in age from 3 weeks to 8 years old, Macias told CNN on Monday.
"It wasn't that they didn't want to be vaccinated -- they planned on it," she said. She was adamant that this was a personal choice and each wanted to learn more about its safety prior to being inoculated.
A former kindergarten teacher who recently retired, Terry Macias believes her son and daughter-in-law contracted the coronavirus after a recent family trip to an indoor water park as a last hurrah before returning to school.
The family remains shocked at the sudden loss of Davy and Daniel Macias.
"We didn't see it coming," Terry Macias said tearfully. "Covid doesn't discriminate. It's the luck of the draw and it could happen to anybody.

As to the Calif. couple -- the man was not vaccinated, and his wife was waiting until after she delivered her baby. But as fate would have it, events going on took over and no vaccines were given. It is indeed very sad. I saw a sm. quick story on t.v. this a.m. and the mother's parents will now raise these children. I do not know why the husband had not as yet ( before he got covid ) gotten vaccinated. Any decision to wait or avoid altogether can have disastrously un-forseen circumstances for generations.
ETA: Thanks so much Divine for looking that up. It is indeed VERY sad for those left behind that these otherwise intelligent people apparently thought there was more they needed to know before becoming vaccinated. I can't fathom the many, many years we have had vaccines to help all of us stay well and not have massive loss of life, and then have people saying they need to know more for some reason.
Leaves me to wonder if they might have thought some of the " new cures " like Ivermectin needed exploration ( oh, please ) beforehand. I also wonder if the fact that they had children not qualifying as yet for the vaccine played any part. Just a thought on my part -- I would not have let that be a stop for me. Those children ( who had it seemed a lot of previous protections practiced by their parents ) deserved parents who would be able to likely survive if they did get sick. I also think what will those children think when they are older and visit their own personal "history" and how it changed their existence completely. Just a horrid thing. I do think that story should be repeated often. That and lots of others who are dying when they don't need to. Well, some really do have " freedom " now and it is total and permanent. Like John Brown's.

Unbelievably sad and preventable! My 27 year old son is due for his second shot this week. He is living with us after moving back and starting a new business. I told him he would have to leave if he didn't get vaccinated. I hated to have to do that, but he was spouting the same misinformation, even saying that it could render him infertile! He has a couple friends who say they had heart or lung issues after getting vaccinated, but it was my ultimatum that forced him to act. Guess what? NO REACTIONS. He just told me he is going to wait until the weekend to get his second shot in case he has some sort or reaction that makes him achy or otherwise not feeling well and keep him from working. I did feel achy after the second shot, so I'm giving him a pass.....until Saturday.
-
Good for you, Home Mom. You are doing everyone a service by giving your son that ultimatum.
-
Home Mom, tell him to just wait until he's old enough for pneumonia vaccines. That second one was awful! But better an arm that's sore for a week than being in a hospital with pneumonia. Same with the Covid vaccine.
-
Is really something how people can talk themselves out of survival. Like I really love being alive and I want to do everything I can to stay alive and to be there for my kids. Human brains are really wild.
Pregnant women have bad covid outcomes. That story is tragic because it was so avoidable. If they had been vaccinated they'd be alive. They might also be alive if they didn't go to an indoor water park...
Those poor kids.
You did the right thing Home Mom.
Anyone who says they have a friend or family member who had an extreme reaction to the vaccine, I take their comment with a huge grain of salt. Just like I take anyone who says they know someone who voted twice in Chicago with a giant grain of salt.
-
2019, that's a good way to put it, people talk themselves out of survival. Why? Do Trumpers think they are dying for a worthy cause? When the dust settles on this coronavirus pandemic, will there be people who live with deep regret that they did not insist their parent/child/spouse or other loved one get the vaccine? People are freaking out like the vaccine is going to create Thalidomide babies or worse. Thalidomide wasn't even a vaccine, it was used as a sedative and used to treat morning sickness.
Has there been an instance where mass vaccine administration has caused irreparable damage to large amounts of the population?

Too many preventable deaths is a tragedy taking parents from children, children from parents, lovers without partners. Years ago I read an inspiring posthumans book by Paul Kalanithi who was a 36 yr old neurosurgeon dead from lung cancer. The title is When Breath becomes air. A magnificent title that might help the unvaccinated realize that breathing is only for the living.
-
I was glad to read that I think it was Trishyla who said Newsom would not be recalled. I was not sure where that was headed. I saw a headline that said his win might be signaling that Covid politics is starting to favor Democrats. Let's hope so.
Magiclight, I have read “When Breath Become Air” which came out in 2016, Just wow. So beautifully, intelligently and thoughtfully written.
-
Yes, it appears from the latest polling that Newsom will not be recalled but it’s not over until officially called. What is particularly disturbing is that Larry Elder, the leading Republican, has already talked about election fraud and set up an online reporting sitefor those who want to report voting irregularities. G-d help us!

right out of orange things play
-
The book "When Breath becomes Air" was a wonderful book and a must read.
-
I agree with everyone who's praised "When Breath Becomes Air." Wonderful book - if you haven't read it yet, try to get a hold of a copy.
-
Yes - "When Breath Becomes Air" was wonderful. I should probably re-read it.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2020/04/14/cutter-polio-vaccine-paralyzed-children-coronavirus/ DivineMrsM, there was a terrible polio vaccine disaster. Cutter Labs mistakenly distributed a live vaccine which was administered to 120,000 children, 40,000 of whom got "abortive" polio, 55 of whom were paralyzed and 5 of whom died. I suppose the current covid anti-vaccineers either don't know history or they realize that the mRNA vaccines avoid the potential for this type of mistake. The Salk polio vaccine was a killed-virus vaccine and the Cutter Labs produced and distributed a live vaccine. This is the problem avoided by the mRA vaccines as they were never live viruses.
