Candy~yes scan in one year. Blood work in six months. Xgeva in three months. (Every 3) and from 125 mg of ibrance to 100mgs of ibrance. I’m hoping for a difference. It could be a game changer for me. I’m still hoping against hope I can see a difference. Some said yes. Others said no. So fingers crossed 🤞.
I had to pre register for my covid vaccine. Which I’ve done. My dh’s boss got his second dose yesterday and he is knocked off of his feet. A grown man down. I’m afraid of this vaccine ladies. I’m not gonna lie here. 😔
-
Moth, I agree with you. I have seen many people who say they have a serious cancer and need help financially and also use this as an attention seeker. I don't care that a person focuses on their cancer say on their facebook page but get suspicious when money is being requested.
-
Mel,
My DH and I got our second Covid shots last Saturday, and we had nothing worse than sore arms for a day. Most of my friends had the same experience. One had a fever for about 4 hours, but she didn’t feel bad. Hope for the best. If you do have side effects they will only be temporary, but the benefits will last a long time.
.It must be wonderful to have such a long time between scans and MO visits. I have blood tests and MO visits at least once a month. This is an improvement over the past two years when I had them weekly. I have scans every three months, more frequently if I have symptoms.
Spring is around the corner. I am looking forward to gardening again. My perennial garden looked pretty sad by last fall. The drought was touch. I have to add that I am also looking forward to some nice warm weatherHugs and prayers from, Lynne

Lynne~ I know I have to get it. I just don’t want to feel any sicker. It’s good and bad to have scans that long. The mind forgets when you’re away from the medical stuff. When it’s time to go back. I experience ptsd. It makes me anxious beyond anxious. But I am also so thankful that I can go that long and he feels secure enough to do this. I am hoping it improves my quality of life.
I’m sending you hugs sweet friend -
Congrats BevJen!
Thanks again everyone.
-
Mel I had a fever of 102 that lasted for 36 hours, after my 2nd vaccine. But I would do it again in a heartbeat because I know the short term ickies is much better than Covid. I have not heard of many with that fever for that long. One lady I know said her temp was 100 for 12 hours. And most I know that got the vaccine had no side effects whatsoever.
Getting some scanxiety--- scans on Monday. Long day--- scans, then blood draw, then MO visit and Xgeva shot. Pin cushion day.
-
Candy~ thanks for the different views on the vaccine. Still weary of it. But know I have to do it. But yuck.
Will be in your pocket Monday for scans. And pin cushion day. (Which I hate for you)
-
Thanks Mel. I will take the pocket duty. Just thinking about Monday makes my heart speed up and my stomach jump.
-
I completely understand boy do I! We all do.... one day at a time.
-
candy, I hope you find a way to distract yourself. Maybe some denial is in order? scans & appointments? what appointments? no, don't know anything about that...
-
Ok guys, lalala closing ears now. I just got a courtesy call from the cancer center MRI Dept reminding me of my MRI on Monday. Duh. No need to remind me. Told me the time I needed to be there, any implants but the Port, etc. Then she said to fast 2 hours before to prevent nausea. I told her I have not had nausea with the contrast before and she said they are seeing an increase in cases of nausea the last couple months. Nice. Now I have that in my head. I am ready for this to be over.
-
Pocket duty for Candy. Sorry scans cause anxiety for you.
I am taking the day completely off. I sort of want to walk but just feeling exhausted. Think I will just stay home, do some basic laundry and normal light house work around the house. Decided to utilize a drying rack and allow things to hang before putiing in my dryer. Only had to dry first load for 10 minutes, easier on the dryer.
-
Candy, I will be in your pocket on Monday. It seems odd that the cancer center is suddenly seeing an increase in nausea, don’t you think? Just weird! Do you know how soon you will get your results?
Hugs and prayers from, Lynne

Man, this thread sure does move fast. I was only absent for one day....lots of catching up to do..
BevJen, congratulations on the birth of your new grandson. My niece is in the hospital right now with the same thing. She’s 3 weeks early, but she is a juvenile diabetes patient, so they are taking every precaution. I am expecting to see her little Alexander soon. I love being an Auntie!!!
Dutchris, I am sending prayers and positive vibes your way too. Anything you need, just let us know.
Candy, I totally get the anxiety with MRIs. Since I have a pacemaker, they have to call in someone to adjust (turn off?) it before my scan, and then re-adjust afterwards. Talk about anxiety....I have only had one MRI since my pacer was installed (2016), so I will be right there holding your hand during yours. Bringing red licorice, unless you like black .
Mel, I am so happy for you with your results, but mostly for continuing to keep trying things that could help your QOL. We need you around for a long time to come, and it looks like that will be the case.
-
Congratulations on the healthy grandbaby BevJen!!!!!!!!!!!!
Candy I'll be in for pocket duty. I hate the MRI tests the most bc of sound and dye. Also they last longer than my other scans. I'll bring my cranberry, macadamia nut, white chocolate chip cookies to share.
Mara I hope your treatment went well today and you're home and resting.
Mel I heard about the side effects of shot two but I'm still going to get mine. My dear friend and her entire family have covid right now and her youngest daughter (8) is on chemo. So it's still spreading just maybe not as fast as before.
50s girl did they tell you to contact doctor about fever and reaction or is it was is to be expected?
Waving hello to all.
Tanya

Bliss,
Forgot to say thank you for your post. DH and I are trying hard to make our marriage work, and we feel pretty good about our chances for success. I guess it all comes down to what it is that each of us can give up (or change) to make the other feel respected and heard. I can assure you I have just as much work to do on my end, as I am very stubborn and head-strong. But when I weigh everything out against starting over, it makes those other things less important.
Anyway, thanks again. Hope your day is going well.
-
50'sgirl- Yeah weird that they are seeing more nausea. Why??? But I will not be one of them. I hope. I will get results that day. I have scans in the morning then MO appt at 1p. I will wait in my truck between. Could go to a restaurant (I think they are open there) but don't want to do that. So I will bring a book and just sit in vehicle. Long day, but I will know results when I leave.
-
US ladies - Ive seen the news that they will be opening up to all for shots from like 1 May or something like that. Are they planning for folks to get shots through pharmacies or mass centers or what? I know its state dependent, but there could be an argument for waiting for OH to get his in the US in June when we visit, rather than wait for the UK system to catch up for his age group.
-
Candy, it is wonderful that you will have you results on the same day. I wish that all MOs would do that for scans.
Tanya, I wasn’t told to notify my doctor if I developed a fever after my Covid shot. I was told that it was a common SE. How are you? Is you pain any better?
Booboo, I am glad that you and your dh are working things out. You have been together a long time. I am sure this isn’t easy for either of you. I am praying for you.
Mel, I noticed that you mentioned Lynnwood recently. I wish we knew how she is doing
Hugs and prayers from, Lynne

Candy, pocket duty on Monday, I’m in for the long day. Maybe we could all bring something for you/us to snack on while you’re waiting in your truck? I love the sound of Tanya’s cookies and will add some finger sandwiches with turkey and lettuce since we’re trying to be neat in your truck. Seriously though, I’m with you in spirit and hoping your mri isn’t too bad and the report is all good. 🌺
Sondra, I believe the states are doing a combination of pharmacies and mass vaccinations. The major city near me just opened a mass site (6,000 a day) and it goes on for 8 weeks, and two other major cities in Ohio have something similar starting up too. It might be worth getting info on the state he’ll be in. If you know your OH will be in the US in June I bet he’d have an easy time getting it.
Mel, I hope the dose reduction is noticeable for you. You seem like you have mental energy but not physical energy, so maybe the change will get you more in sync there. Congrats again on another year stable!
Hi Mara, good to hear you took a day off since you felt like it.
Hello everyone. 👋
-
Congrats, BevJen, on your new grandson; so glad everything turned out okay!
Candy, I'll be ready for pocket duty on Monday. So glad you get results same day.
Hi to everyone else. Hope you are having a good week; can't believe tomorrow is Friday already.
-
Sondra, Yes, vaccines for all in May is what I’ve heard proposed as well but I don’t know if it’ll work out on that schedule since lots of details have yet to be finalized. I also hear that in addition to pharmacies, vaccines may be available at dentists office too.
-
Sondra,
President Biden announced the other day that there will be enough vaccine available by May 1 for all adults who want it. That's not shots in the arm, though, as the CDC has repeatedly noted. As you said, though, much is state dependent -- how they distribute vaccine still greatly differs state to state. And some states currently have residence restrictions in effect. So my advice is to keep an eye on it as much as you can.
-
Thanks ladies - this would be in WI which has been pretty bad at distribution/information, and not until late June. We do have WI driver licenses if they need proof, but I was hoping he could just roll into a pharmacy by that point and pay!
But agree - let's see what happens! Im still waiting on my second AZ which isn't for another three weeks yet
-
I heard that the states is loaning Canada 1.5 million doses of the Astra Zeneca since they are not yet approved for use in US but is approved in Canada. That will help our shortage as I believe my province is in a third wave now. We would give the same amount of the drug back once we receive original order. Not worried for myself whether I get it or not, usually am not in a whole bunch of stores, most in my apartment or walking myself. If I had to take a bus, I would simply double mask.
Today has been much more productive as far as walks. I am already at 14000 steps in four separate walks, two before breakfast and to and from the burger joint for me wee burgers. Did not order lunch as do not need the extra calorie count. I forced myself to go right after I did the daily jumble. Planning to sit around and watch TV and earn pennies toward my burger purchases.
-
Oh and I have to say that I had the same thought when I was making myself get dressed and go out, No I don't want to go, but I squashed the thought and got myself out the door. Wanted extra steps and needed the snack size burgers, get em plain and add a bit of peanut butter for around 350 cals total. They are delicious.. I can also toast them with cheese and onion powder on the patty as well for a snackable restaurant style without the onion rings and pop calories.
-
Just got back from a little walk myself. It’s 63 degrees and sunny, which is great and as a bonus my neighborhood turtles were out basking in the sun. That’s the best part of my walk
-
Karen- I second the opinions here and hope you find a car you love.
Booboo1 - Oh man, I feel you with the prednisone. I struggle with impulse control on it too. I love the energy boost but I go completely insane.
Mara - you have inspired me to walk more. My neuropathy has been bad lately and it seems to fire up at night so I am trying to do more exercise in the day time to combat my stiffness and help get blood flowing routinely. You make it sound do-able with multiple shorter walks during the day.
Dutchcris - sending you hugs and support. The waiting is the worst and I'm sorry you have to go through this. We will all be here to support.
Mel- I think a nap sounds good too.
Not much going on here. I am home today from work with fatigue and stiffness. I am going to force myself to enjoy the mild weather and get a short walk in before the rain hits. Considering asking my MO to go off of Gabapentin since it isn't helping my neuropathy and I feel it may be contributing to my fatigue.
-
Mae - That looks amazing!
Oh my gosh, I'm just realizing I missed a whole page of updates when I posted my last one! Forgive me if I skipped any major updates.
-
Tomorrow is my day to get my first vaccine (Pfizer). Gotta admit I’m a little nervous, but a number of you have had it already, so I’m hopeful that it will be uneventful. Fingers (and toes) crossed.
Mae, I love turtles. What a great picture. Looks like they are marching!
