Anyone Starting Chemo in June 2016

Has anyone had a family member get sick yet? Do I wear a mask? Do they wear a mask? I should call my infusion center? I don't want to be alarmist, but I woke up this morning with a low fever (99.2, usually I run 97+) and a family member suddenly has the sniffles. Argh.
-
Dolly, my nurse said that anemia can be a side effect, because chemo suppresses bone marrow - I need to look further into it. I don't remember yours, but I'm getting Taxol/Carboplatin to start, and may have been anemic even before my cancer diagnosis.
-
Almost done with second infusion.

-
moondust and lj - I'm done with 2nd infusion also. Hopefully you sail through with no problems.
I'm going to go grab lunch during my (hopefully) 4 hour window.
Halfway done with the AC part. Woohoo!!
-
Hi Ladies, Gonna send this as fast as I can before my lunch is over!
Revnet: last night it was a homemade chocolate cake craving. I can "taste" the thing first. Bizarre!!!
Krekre: That SE worksheet is great. I'm going to use it.
labscientist: Not to worry, I'm not a big fan of supplements, and try to get what I need in my diet. I'm on one coconut water a day, too. But...I was recommended some supplements, and will cross-reverence them here and with the chemo nurses. Sorry about your palpitations! I'm glad it worked out. My Taxol was fairly uneventful, but I did go to In N' Out afterward. It was WONDERFUL.
Kdlee: Welcome! I am fairly new here too. You will find healing, inspiration, and strength here, my friend. Soak it up.
Districtgirl: That Jack Daniels is a heart breaker with those soulful eyes. Re: nausea, I take the Zofran for days 1 - 3, once per morning after my treatments. If I start to feel indigestion on other days, I take it then too. Hope yours is under control. Nausea is my kryptonite, so I understand. I also have a M/M prescription. I'm a really light user, but that's helping too.
Pepper: How was the Yoga booty ballet? That qualifies as low impact, but always got my heart racing when I did it.
Knardo88: I'm so sorry to hear that you're suffering. I am told that A/C is a tough one, but also that it gets better.
Sthrn Yankee: Cute "do!"
Lloseworld, Acie, Heathet, Moondust: Y'all are absolutely RADIANT. This is how June does it. WOOT WOOT
Clarkblue: Ah yes, broccoli. I'm a clean eater, but I still hate it - especially cooked. Yuck. But thanks for the reminder. And, my period that I just had last week started again with the latest infusion. Bonus period! Bah. It did taper off, but it makes me so cranky.
Cody3110: Re: hair loss. Mine started right on time, day 14. It's almost gone now.
bbbb: Good for you and the SE's. Blessings right back to Southern Georgia!
Dolly: Love your haircut, and especially your expressions!
Have the best day possible for you, everyone! Back to work for me...

Hey all! Feeling pretty good on Day 3 - have a weird feeling that can't be explained but it's not bad, just weird! Went with my daughter to hair appointment which was a little depressing as everyone was getting their hair done and looking good and mine looks horrible (lots of grey roots) and I can't get it done because it's going to be gone in a few weeks! I got over my pity party and had fun with my daughter and we went to lunch. I suddenly got very tired and weird feeling on the way home so I slept for a few hours. Have had a bit of constipation but this afternoon I had the opposite problem! Might have been the lunch out with my daughter - not exactly "bland" food today! I will wait and see if it continues before I take yet ANOTHER pill (ugh!) Only taking zofran for nausea today as I was taking zofran and prochlorperazine - don't really notice a difference. All in all I really cannot complain - I know it could be much worse and I am thankful that I can continue to function almost normally today! Yeah! Blessing!
KreKre - thanks for the link for the SE worksheet - It is great and I think it will really help me to predict what to expect next time!
Going to attempt to go to church in a few minutes - we will see!
Praying you all are having a good day! I can't even begin to tell you all what a blessing you are to me! Sisters in the fight!
-
Hello Ladies,
I have been feeling rough today...constipation from hell. It's not budging one bit....YIKES! Have taken laxative and just hoping to get some relief soon. Grrrrrr.
Thanks for all the comments about hair, It is definitely thinning big time but I am glad I got it tidied up. I think today was the first day I finally accepted that my hair was definitely going to not be anything like my old hair. It is thin, greying and just not too great. But as we have all said, many times, it IS JUST HAIR. Jeeez I know a lot of men my age who have not had hair for years haha. So really....it's all going to be OK
Boobsbgone - Love this name but you made me a little sad reading about you crying in the hairdressers. I wish I could have been with you. I would have given you a wee cuddle and told you it's just hair and also tell you what my hairdresser told me today, that it will grow very quickly!!! Half an inch every two weeks, he said to me today!!! No time for sadness on this forum, we got to all tell each other how fab we are and how well every single one of us is doing. How many of us thought as wee girls playing with our dolls that we would ever be faced with such a trial and that we would all just be able to get on with it? How many of us every thought we had this strength? I certainly have amazed myself. You are amazing yourself too every single day that you wake up and move on!
LJ, I am so sorry you had a bad day before your next infusion. But keep up the good fight! This is over soon. Do you hear? Really, 5 months from now, you and I will not longer be doing this rubbish. We will be brushing out lovely locks and enjoying our perfect and cancer clean lives. And of course each and every single one of us will be eating so well, exercising to Pepper's youtube videos every day and losing so much weight, we will be the envy of everyone else haha...You look like you are doing sooooooooooooo well. I love your cheeky wee pics in the BIG SEAT!
SthernYankee - hope your chemo went well. Thanks for you kindness about my pics. Yup, I also hope this cold cap works too. It is a hassle and makes for a long long day. Here is hoping.
Bbbb thank you so much. You are always so kind. I think also that you are right and that it is nice to see others doing well or even come back from a bad day and do better. I am a good ad for cold capping soooooo far, but let's wait and see what happens after the next few infusions. I have heard that hair is meant to start regrowing on chemo patients around infusion 5??? Can this be true? I am now doing the one wash a week with hair. Which I flaming well hate. I mean, HATE totally. It's not right to not be able to wash hair every day.
Coffeelover - 30lbs is a huge amount of weight. Is that OK for you? I have lost 6lbs in 4 weeks. I have a stone and a half left to go to be perfect weight and help fight recurrence. I hope you are eating OK? Has doctor said anything about that sort of weight loss? Keep going. Your GI Jane look is very cool and suits you.
Heathet - hope you are winning the game!! Love the cut too. You look like a dead cool teacher now. One NOT to be messed with haha. I am sure you never were one to be messed with. I am not feeling any chemo brain yet but feel for you of you are not able to focus quite as much. I am sure chemo brain will get to me eventually, I have a feeling I am just slower than everyne else on this forum and will catch up soon. But I do hope chemo brain goes coz I was sort of wanting to do some more studying after this treatment was done. Planning on a PhD in violence against women. So God needs to spare me so I can help others who aren't able to help themselves...there you go GOD, you cannot back out of that one now!
Pepper, I will certainly take your advice and not get too panicked about diets and supplements. To be honest, I have just recently gone pretty much, totally organic. Have been gradually filling up cupboards with organic stuff. Now I have achieved this, I am going to get going with some weight loss and exercise. I need to get exercising every day. I am going to start officially THIS Friday. Out every day for 40 mins brisk walk and then build up. I have not been to gym yet, but that is next. I am like you, and have battled the bulge for all of my life. But I am buggered if I am going to blame myself for that. I have had diabetes since 14 caused by viral infection and to be honest I think I just have a pretty rubbish immune system that struggles to fight stuff off. Although I have to say, that same immune system is doing me pretty proud right NOW. But I am going to just be sensible and cut out all alcohol now (never really drank anyways) and lose weight. BTW saw your youtube....wowzer, you are some lady doing all that keepfit and exercise. And what a lovely name too.
Moondust and Labscientist - I have left both of you out tonight as I am tired and would mean I have to go back a page or two to see your posts. HOWEVER, I send my love from Bonnie Scotland to both of you and hope both of you are doing well. This is for you both of you:
This needs to be played FULL BLAST!

Boobsbgone - you look amazing in that mohawk, way to go. My hair is still hanging in there but today was only my 3rd treatment so i'm constantly on hair watch and honestly afraid to touch it. Cut 7 inches off before surgery so next step is a buzz. i only hope I look half as good as you all do with your cute heads.
Did my chemo alone today since the hub was stuck doing work stuff. My center is consistently an hour or more late for my scheduled infusion and today my sweet nurse brought the manager and patient relations in to hear me out. I kinda let them have it. It's a delicate situation given that I work for the same Medical center but it's inconvenient and frustrating for me and all of the other folks (some are super sick) to be out waiting in general population. I think I rocked the boat but I don't care - we need to at least be informed that they are behind versus being held hostage, rant over.
Icing was a tad easier - I ordered the Elastogel mittens and the jury is still out. It's easier and given me a tad more freedom but they don't stay as cold. I don't want to order another pair so I held an ice brick between them to keep them frozen. Next week i will take the Ativan and see if that helps - the hands are rough!! Couldn't today since I drove myself to and fro.
Hoping Knardo and the others feeling crappy are doing ok. Been thinking about you.
We've got this girls. xoxo
-
Heathet and Lroseworld: you both look great!! Havn't gone GI jane yet, but rocking my 1 inch do with scarves and biker chick bandana.
-
Labscientist....I love your biker chick look. Do you have bikes?
D
-
Cqrolag: if you are taking steroids, that can cause your scalp to break out. Clean it with a baby wipe or soap and water, then schmear them with Aquafor and it will heal them right up.
Revnet: bummer about the fever, glad, glad you went to ER to make sure. Chicken soup is my suggestion, it boosts immune system.
BoobsBgone: Love the topknot, you are rocking the party that brought you!! check out sparklingearth.com for some cool biker chick bandanas, some have dreds! You look like you might like that look!
Dolly: I love the hair! You are beautiful! I like the leather jacket too! You have my expression about selfies. Glad you are being taken care of, and feel good enough to get out and about. I ran errands today too, now taking it easy. tomorrow and Fri are my feeling yucky days.
Pepper: PINKIE PROMISING UP FRONT!!! I looked up your calorie callculator on your website. plugged it into MyFitnessPal which I have used on and off for a few years, and like it. also put in the macro to get closer the the 40%protein/30%carbs/30%fat goal. I am getting closer today. working it. I will not short myself on calories, it helps me a lot to pick better ones, and also because I just can't eat junk right now, it makes my stomach BURN so bad. That helps I think. I really am enjoying your youtube videos, great job and tons of info. Even a couple pounds each week makes me happy, and lots of folks see it in my face, so it's not my imagination...not that they arn't making me weigh in twice a week at infusion center or anything....LOL. I want to be healthy, live to see my son grow up and get old and cranky with my hubby, and if this sucky, stupid cancer results in better eating habits for me than bully for me, I got another good thing out of it! what kind of scientist is your hubby? and did you get my supplement list too?
-
NattyB,
I did the same early on in my treatment. Something cropped up and I was extremely vocal and made it clear I was not happy, I was disappointed and now had no faith or confidence in the particular individual who had been dealing with me at that time. It's difficult because they are trying to help you, however, there are times when mistakes are made or just lack of consideration is given and that is when they need to be gently reminded that there is room for improvement.

Cody3110: We can do it! my friends and family gave me great comments. I bought a 'girly' shirt to help me out and if I keep smiling then I won't look like I have cancer, just a bad-ass attitude (in the good way). I agree I do not want to look 'sick' like i have the BC. it is not easy to go through what we are going through, physically or emotionally - BUT we are strong, confident, powerful women with an amazing support group of family, friends, pets and this site with all the amazing people who step up with words of encouragement and strength for us to get up and go! you got this!
-
Dolly, thanks for the stirring and inspirational highland bagpipes video! Really enjoyed it! If you scroll up four posts above your last one, you will see my infusion snapshot. I am wearing my purple chemo beanie. I like them because the ruffle at the bottom sort of gives the appearance of hair. Your hair still looks amazing, and you are so beautiful! I wasn't even sure which was the before and which the after shot. Hope you get some good sleep!
NattyB, so sorry you had the delay at your center! I think it is terrible when they can't even let you know. When I went for my second opinion at UCSF, they had a board behind the receptionist which listed any doctors who were running behind, and how far behind they were. My place was on time today. I iced during the docetaxel and then continued during the cyclophosphamide, because I figured the taxane was still circulating. In fact, I wonder how long it circulates in there to where icing would be beneficial. It is all I can stand to do it for as long as I did, though, so I probably would not do it at home. Today I brought a small tub and iced my feet too.
bbbb, glad you are feeling mostly okay. My stomach felt weird for the first week, although I never felt nauseous.
Knardo, how are you feeling today compared to yesterday?
LilyP, I try to get my vitamins and minerals from food, too. But the doctor wants me to take extra calcium and Vit D even though I don't think I need them. I'm not much of a fish eater, so I think the fish oil is a good thing for me to take. And the probiotics during the chemo.
Keely, thanks for the lengthy supplement interactions article. It kept me busy reading it during chemo today! I think I will stop taking my curcumin for the duration of chemo. I read a 2002 study that said it intereferes quite a lot with the action of cyclophosphamide, at least in a test tube.
I know I've missed so many, but I'll do a better job once I get dinner on the stove. It's easy to get stuck at the computer and not get anything done!
-
Dolly - absolutely and I think they may not always realize how stressful it is when they run 1-2 hours behind. My nurses get it - and they are frustrated too. It's just awful that so many people need treatment but something has got to give. Wouldn't be as big a deal if I was every 3 weeks but every week and trying to work stresses me out. I told them that I would need to switch centers if we didn't get this managed better. So we'll see.
Those of you who have had your 3rd Taxol - when did you start to shed and did the downstairs go first or upstairs? Thanks much:)
-
Just spotted Moondust in her chemo centre. Wow, you are gorgeous. You look like the picture of health. How do you do it? I am telling you, I am coming over to stay with you so you can look after me and get me on your healthy eating plan and hiking. You are a superb advert for chemo looking easy. Hope infusion went well and you get home and get some rest as soon as possible. You are fabulous!
Labscientist, haha, I am not a very good selfie person. I feel also that in last few weeks my skin has aged and I feel generally bedraggled (another good Scottish word for exhausted .....bidragild). It also takes me all my energy to get dressed up to go out. I think probably it's the hair thing has become such a task and takes so long to wash gently, dry with cold hairdryer and then apply makeup. I am finding that I prefer to be in jeans and sweatshirts just now.....and with no makeup. But I would be interested in what ways chemo skin can be kept youthful and healthy. I don't want this aging me any more and yet I feel it is doing just that! That makes me a little sad.

Coffee-lover, Cody3110 and boobsBgone: Sadness and whoot, whoot too to all of you regarding losing hair. It seems so shallow, to be concerned with what we look like, to want to "Pretend" that we are not cancer patients, just sometimes. My heart isn't as broken about my hair after several days of it ALL OVER ME, like spiders attacking me. That helped to let it go. I am having fun with pretty scarves and beanies and biker chick bandanas. I havn't gone in public with my 1 inch ultrapixie do, but my husband says it really isn't that bad. I try to focus on the pride of being a soldier, I am kicking cancers booty, and when I felt yucky during the chemo infusion, I was concentrating on how it was killing the cancer cells. All of you are stonger than you think! You all inspire me! and you are all beautiful!
NattyB: hope your infusion goes well today! praying for you, sending {{hugs}} your way!
District girl: Thanks so much for the excercises! I am copying them to a word doc. re: Zofran, I get it in my premeds before infusion, so on the 2nd morning after chemo day (day 3) I take a zofran in am then every 6 hours, because the infusion RN said that should just keep the nausea from ever happening. The only evening I didn't follow this was the night before terrible diarrhea and nauseous cramps. So I havn't forgotten since then. I love your hair by the way, your picture was fabulous!
SouthernYankee: glad you are doing ok today! Thanks for your experience rundown. Bummer that it was so crazy. I am just so glad to hear that today is better. I am doing A/C after 6 more weeks of weekly taxol, so its good to hear what to expect from a bunch of different people. blessings to you!!
-
this was a few years ago - before BC and before short hair! My hubby shaved his beard and freaked everyone we knew out (too funny). his coworkers told him to grow it back. (his hair in a ponytail)
wanted something for us to smile about!
-
feeling a little dizzy and tired tonight! I will definitely be to bed early tonight .
-
Thanks labscientist - thankfully uneventful just have been having some aches in my hips - so weird but Advil takes the edge off. Have you had any of that?
I agree Moondust - you look all tan and buff! I'm coming to hike with you! I love it - I have a bucket list of doing the entire AT, I've done small sections but never spent the night on the trail. Not sure the hub would be on board but maybe I'll play the cancer card and force him, haha. Truly, you look awesome!
-
Dolly/A across the pond: wow, girlfriend, that was amazing. Scotland is indeed bonnie, enjoyed the pictures! Love and hugs back to you! What makes that especially special, is unknown to you, my high school was the Glendora High School Royal Stewart Tartans. Our band had a full-rigged out Bagpiper drum major who was amazingly talented. And our drill team had a sword dancer team. I was part of the show choir all 4 years, the Royal Stewart Singers. So, I am a wee bit fond of the bagpipes and I kilt-wearing set. That music made me smile soo big! Thank you, THANK YOU!! Really loved your pictures and expression, you are beautiful!!!
District girl: your black lab is beautiful! Gave me big smile.
lilyp6: I love InNout too! its great for boosting the protein! I see you are in Brea, do you go to City of Hope? I am at their satilight location in Mission Hills. Love it there, they are taking such good care of me.
bbbb: I feel you with the "weird" feeling --think of it as your cancer cells dying, KILL THEM ALL!! I am so glad you managed to have a fun day with your daughter. Hope you got to church too, we need the watering for our souls and fellowship with the church family too,. Functional days are a blessing, I am glad for my functional day 2 today.
-
I think I finally caught up with all the posting today!
Dolly: no bikes for me, but my sister in law & husband do. I do drive a decked out bright blue PT Cruiser with orange/pink/purple flames on the sides and hood that I ordered online and put on myself. Will have to attempt to send you a picture.
Moondust: you are rocking it on the your second infusion! Huzzah, to get that done! Hope you are feeling good now!
BoobsBgone: awesome bike. give your lovely hubby some hugs for us! Was good for a HUGE smile!!!
NattyB: I just did #6 taxol yesterday. Hair started shedding a lot on week 5, I cut it last Sat. I noticed pubic hair getting less a couple weeks before that, but I think its still gradually falling out. Still got nose hairs, eyebrows and eyelashes, whoot, whoot!! I too get nosebleeds everyday, with bloody tissue when I blow my nose but not all over my face. its a bummer side effect with taxol, not likeing it. schmutzing Aquafor up in my sinus seems to help, as aweful as that sounds.
Heathet: Hope you rest well! blessings and {{hugs}} to you!
Moondust: I have chemobeanies too! I like the ruffles and that they are cool! I have a dark blue one, a light brown one that kindof looks like my hair and the peacock blue one that a friend bought me. You rock the purple! I like to that they are sold color, then when I wear my pattern scrubs they don't look too busy! You looked beautiful on the chair. i was chatting with my hubby during premeds, then got feeling yucky with the chemo infusion, so didn't get around to a pic this time. Hope your dinner is YUMMY, and you have a good evening.
To all: blessings and HUGS to everyone! You all inspire me, and your new friendship and sisters in this fight keeps my head on straight and is a blessing from God that we can support, inform and encourage each other thru this crazy journey!
-
Pepper, I'm sorry your kidney scan got delayed. It's hell waiting for these tests, and then the results!
Coffee-lover, how did your infusion go? Thirty pounds is a lot to lose so quickly! I hope your weight will stabilze soon! Sorry about your hair meltdown. I don't like how I look without it particularly, but as it was 110 today, I like how cool it is! (that's 43 celsius for non-Americans). And having no hair does not keep me from doing what I want to do, so I'm trying to ignore it.
Nextyear, funny about your friends walking you :0 I had my radiation prior to chemo. I don't know what chemo you are having, but my RO said that adriamycin could cause the skin to get even worse, and that is one reason they give a break between chemo and rads. The combined SE's might be a bit hard to take. Radiation wears you out because you have to be there every day. I got a very sore shoulder from it (now okay).
Boobsbgone, I love your mohawk. I did not have enough left on top to do anything like that, but I saved a few wispy bangs until the fake ones arrive. Love the biker photo! I used to ride my own when I was in my 20's years ago. It was not that fancy, though.
Heathet, whoever buzzed your head did a great job! You look cool (literally and figuratively!) Hope some rest will help your dizziness!
Llroseworld, you look great in that short cut! Your eyes really pop and look great!
Dolly, I looked at your photos again and I see no grey, so don't worry about that!
Revnet, sorry you went to ER. Not a great place to sit around with a lowered immune system! Don't they ever think of that?
LJ, did you actually wear your wig to chemo? Not me - comfort all the way!
Cody, welcome to the June Chemo Warrior thread! Since not many people know about my cancer, I've decided to tell the others that I have "shaved my head in solidarity for a friend with cancer". How's that for a good lie?
Lily, I'm making broccoli beef stirfry for dinner. Yummmm!!! (hope you weren't feeling nauseous).
NattyB, I think my infusions are farther apart than yours. Day 17 is when my hair started really coming out in handfuls. Even though I had read that the downstairs hair would go first, mine is still there.
Labmom, I am awaiting the delivery of four more chemo beanies in prints. And some other stuff too. I'll do photos when I get everything.
I know I'm still missing some, but I have to finish dinner!
-
Infusion #3 of 4 tomorrow... Started the prescription protocol already... Bought some prunes and Senekot this time... Constipation BE GONE!! Lol
Looking forward to talking with my MO about switching antinausea... Gosh wouldn't it be nice to enjoy the holiday weekend!! Believing that answers will be found and this treatment will be the easiest yet!! Can I get an AMEN??!! 🙌🏻
Got my final wig in... Had my hairdresser dye it my "normal" color and my friend is shaping it tomorrow. It truly "takes a village" to make my hair look good Bahahaha....
Sorry to hear the nasty SEs for some of you. I used to avoid these boards because I would get depressed reading everything that would and could go wrong. I truly believe that I am here with such positive women because of God. Thank you for being such uplifting inspiration women even in spite of what we are ALL going through. Love the attitudes, and love each and every one of you.
-Keely
Here is my wig... Can't wait to wear it!!

-
hey just an update from my hospitalization post.... I am feeling much better today and finally got a good night sleep last night for the first time since the infusion. Hopefully I'm over the hump for round 1. fingers crossed. Keep on keepin folks.
-
Hi all,
I'm enjoying reading everyone's updates, always super great to hear about SE's overcome and see photos!
I had my chemo class this afternoon, and first infusion is tomorrow at 9am. Holding onto my last shreds of vanity
if I can take a semi decent selfie there I'll post it, so y'all can see my glorious purple hair. I've dyed it purple, for years, but just on top of my brown hair, knowing I would be losing it I did what Ive always wanted to do and had a friend bleach it then did the purple. I am enjoying it to the max while I can.I'm going to go to chemo on my own, not that my hubby wouldn't go with me if I wanted, but I'm stubborn that way. I do have a friend coming over Friday during the day for a few hours to hang out with me, which will be nice, especially if I end up not feeling well. Hubby will be looking after me thru the long weekend, and hopefully I will feel pretty good and will get out to a few low key events with friends.
Stay strong ladies!
Cheers,
--Jo

Labscientist: I've heard good things about City of Hope, but I'm with Kaiser/Kramer off of the 91 freeway. It's a brand new facility with an even newer radiation building. I've been pretty happy with them so far.
Moondust: I read somewhere that we should eat yogurt every day to help out with digestive and oral side effects, so I've been doing that. I'm sure that taking probiotics would probably do the same. And I had broccoli with dinner tonight too! I still hated it.

Revnet: So glad to hear that you turned the corner. Keep getting stronger and stronger.
-
Keely, I took one zofran to see if it would help my stomach ache tonight. So far not much change - maybe a little better - and no SEs so far. It says on my bottle May Cause Dizziness and Sleepiness. So far not. I love the wig! Can't wait to see a pic of you wearing it! I need a couple of head forms like that. Mine are thrown in a bag. Good luck with chemo tomorrow. I'll be in your pocket!
Lily, good for you with the broccoli! I like it better cooked than raw. I also put asparagus, mushrooms, onions, garlic, ginger, water chestnuts and bamboo shoots in the mix. It turned out well! I eat 1/2 to 1 cup plain greek yogurt every day, usually in my protein smoothie. So much good stuff!
Heathet, given the dizziness and sleepiness warning on my zofran bottle, I wonder if you are getting those SEs from it.
Joey, I'll be in your pocket for chemo tomorrow. Take plenty of entertainment! Since you have to drive, make sure to tell them no benadryl please. I don't get any and it's fine.
Revnet, glad you are doing better!
-
Moondust: I have not experienced any sleepiness or dizzyness with the zofran. Infusion nurses said that yogurt is a good antinausea.
Revnet: so glad to hear you are feeling better!! blessings to you, your are brave and strong and courageous. Killing cancer warrior, you are the bomb!!
lilyp6: so glad you are being well taken care of where you are! its nice to be close to home and get good treatment.
ClarkBlue: love the wig, I agree, looking forward to seeing it on you! Yes, amen and amen, you will have better drugs for antinausea and have a wonderful holiday weekend. Praying for a breakthrough for you!! blessings & {{hugs}}
Joeychen: getting taxotere, you will most likely get benedryl for a premed because of the solvents causing allergic reactions. So maybe have your hubby or someone drop you off, or arrange for someone to drop off your hubby after so he can take you home. I did my first two treatments alone because they had lots to tell me and I could concentrate on my body's reactions. I will be praying for you, yay, you are starting chemo. whoot whoot!! take a book or computer or tablet. I enjoyed reading on my kindle. blessings!!
Goodnight all you amazing warrior ladies!!
-
labscientistmom and moondust they gave me iv Benadryl during my port procedure on Monday, as the regular whatever they give you for the twilight/conscious sedation didn't seem to be kicking in enough, I was still pretty chatty, haha. I vaguely recall still being slightly aware, but the Benadryl certainly did the trick for sure! I will have to ask them to go easy on it, due to driving home, luckily I live 5-10mins away from my hospital, depending on the traffic lights.
lilyp6 I'm with Kaiser too, finding good and bad things, mostly good. I have a v.good friend who is actually a Kaiser radiation oncologist, but again, good and bad, she'll say oh they'll do this, or this is available, but it doesn't always happen that way for me. But in general I like the integrative care. My husband has excellent coverage thru them, so we really have nothing to complain about. Every couple of visits there's a copay, and then some charges for prescriptions, but everything is covered.
