Wren ... Wow - Have you got a trip to Australia planned? Would love to meet you if you come to Brisbane. It would be great to go to the Galapagos Islands. DH's sister went last year for a holiday and loved it!
-
Please forgive me - I'm on a roll here....HeHe. Last one for the day ladies.
This is a sulphur crested cockatoo enjoying the pine nuts in our front yard.
Natalie Hi :-)
-
wow. I would love to have those in my backyard. Glad you could post them.
-
Those guys just are wild in your area and come visit?? Amazing!
-
Lisa, I have never seen pelican of that color. Great shot.
Teka, loving the pics of the wild turkeys. Do you see them often?
Lucy, welcome to our thread. Love, love, love seeing these fascinating birds. What colorful birds. Hope you can post more. Love seeing birds that we certainly don't see in the Midwest other than in a pet store maybe.
-
Ok -- i'm jealous -- beautiful birds!
Finally got a shot, although not a wonderful one, of our little Cape May warbler buddy:
This was taken with the bird cam, so it was kind of dark. He's a beaut though.
-
Love it
-
Cute bird. I wonder if we get those in Illinois. I don't think I have ever seen one before. A bird cam. Interesting!
-
Nancy.. Great shot !!
-
Band, i'm sure you get them migrating at least. As I said, this guy is supposed to be in the carribbean! Don't know why he's hanging around. I've only seen them occasionally in the summer here.
-
I see the flock of wild turkeys at least once a week.
-
auntienance
-wow, I did not realize you have that warbler now. Indeed almost all warblers are south of the border with a few hanging out along gulf coast or so California. Is it coming to a suet feeder?
-
He's eating seed and suet. He has taken a particular liking to peanut butter suet pellets. I read that they will eat seeds and suet when necessary. He certainly has made the winter more interesting. Right now he's having fun chasing the titmice off the feeders.
-
Yes.. He would be so much fun to watch !!
-
waiting for dropping from the feeder
-
Lisa we get those white crowned sparrows migrating in the spring. I haven't seen them for a few years though.
Aunt, I am sure I miss all kinds of migrating birds. Your bird cam sounds really neat. I have never heard of them.
Teka are you way upstate NY?
I was going to go out to search for eagles today but didn't have as much time as I needed. They just had a picture of one on the news tonight taken from Naperville so I know they are here. I have never seen one before and am dying to see one.
I am so excited. I am going to be taking some workshops with a pro photographer starting in Feb and March. Really looking forward to that.
-
The Audubon Birdcam is neat. It's weatherproof and sits on a tripod. The camera is activated by motion and then takes a series of shots. It's especially fun with hummingbirds. It's not the best camera in the world, but you can put it up and leave it for an extended time. It's always fun to see what we caught. Not good in the dark though. Too bad -- i'd love to see what prowls around the deck at night (i think I would anyway.) Here's an amazon link to it. I see that it's been discontinued by the manufacturer. Pity. http://www.amazon.com/Wingscapes-WSCA03-Audubon-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B002M2VQ0C
Hope you see some eagles bandwoman -- they are awesome!

We live near the Adirondack town of Lake Placid which hosted the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics.
-
Hi ..This is a photo of a Pale Headed Rosella , taken in our yard...in the same pine tree as the cockatoo photo I shared here a few days ago.
-
And here's another photo of the rosella eating a pine nut.
-
Wow!
-
Thanks Teka. I will have to look that up.
Lucy Beautiful birds you have there.
It is winter here in the Midwest and it is eagle watching time especially in Illinois. I went for the first time ever on a search to find eagles near this dam which I didn't find until after sundown. I didn't want to waste the opportunity so I did take some geese on the river. I just missed a nice sunset too. Oh well, better luck next time.

Your photos around the lake look so relaxing ..It would be fun to be a goose there !! :-)
Here's 2 Galahs in the same pine tree in our yard..the parrots love pinenuts !
-
wow is right!
-
We are experiencing a huge snow storm. It looks like a winter wonderland here. Very unusual to have this look last all day. We are expecting a blizzard but that part hasn't hit yet. Here a few backyard pics.
My birds love the heated birdbath this time of year. You can see the cardinal in the distance.
Here are some close ups of the cardinal.
Keep warm those of you who are in the midst of this weather.Nancy
-
Bandwoman, looks like my house today!
-
The snow is still falling here at almost 8:30 PM on Sunday night. It started at 7pm on Sat. and has pretty much been nonstop. -
Bandwoman.. Wow.. I love your photos..! What a beautiful back-drop the snow makes.. I'm envious.. Never ever snows where I live.. and we are having a very hot summer this year.
-
Love the snow and happy I don't have to shovel it...
this is what we have here..now..
-
Thank you ladies. Lucy, I guess the grass is always greener. LOL I wouldn't mind some of Lisa's weather from time to time! Can't wait to see a really yellow goldfinch. Ours here in the cold become very faded until springtime. I would love to see those birds from Australia. It is hard for me to fathom that you see these in your backyard!
