Nihahi - what fantastic scenery!
Liefie - what a great dog you have and he sure knew how to protect your husband"! I have a golden who is also 11 years old - aren't they amazing animals - so, so clever! -
Jo6202 and Vintage Gal, the beginning of the bc rollercoaster is the worst part of the whole ordeal, believe me. When surgery is over, and you know what you're facing, you will gear up for the fight, and do what you have to do. This 'guest' simply appears in our lives uninvited, uncalled for, so unwanted, and it is initially so shocking to deal with. Once you're over that, and the dust settles a bit, you know that there's no way around it. The only way out of this is straight through. BIG HUGS to you two!
Traii and Jennie, congrats on the cancerversaries! You have both come a long way.
Nihahi, isn't Lake Louise just gorgeous? My sister visited here from Africa a few years ago, and we took them to see Lake Louise - she maintains to this day that it is the most beautiful place on the planet, and she has travelled extensively, and has seen the world.
Edi, hope you will feel better soon. I remember when I started taking that little pill once a day. Within two weeks I felt way better already. Let us know how you're doing, eh?
My dog never had so many hugs and treats as these past two days. Every time I look at him I become emotional, and hug him again . . . You're right, Adagio, these dogs are indeed very clever, loyal, and faithful. So much we can learn from them - their devotion and love for us are truly unconditional. Very, very touching. He is still such a beautiful dog at eleven. His grandfather was the Australian grand champion once. I love to bath and brush him so that his coat is shining, and he can carry that long-haired tail with pride.
DH went skiing again with his friends these last two mornings. He now goes down the stairs armed with bearspray, a baseball bat, dog on the leash, and making a huge ruckus, singing lalalalala at the top of his voice. Wonder what the neighbours are thinking - lol.
A good Sunday to all my sisters here!

JO6202 and Vintage Gal, Liefie is so right. This is the worst part of this journey. Soon you will start down the path to good health again, ok no one is pretending it is easy but you will come out the other side a different person.
Take good care of yourselves and please please ask ANY questions that come into your mind even if you think they are silly.
Visit here often it really will get you through and we will all celebrate with you at the end of your journey.Liefie, your DH is a brave man !! I would be clanking down your steps in a suit of armour after what happened. I read your story to my DH and he was amazed and really glad no bears on Merseyside.
Traii, glad you are back baby girl
You so needed that break and bet DS had a great time.Nihahi, photos are a dream thanks for posting them.
We have had a hectic weekend. BBQ last night and christening of shedmans GD today. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
Just had BLT sandwiches for dinner as Edi can't be axxxd doing anything else. DH now snoring on sofa as too much beer taken on board so peace and quiet. TV rubbish tonight so may get out my jigsaw of the " Titanic " and start that.
Blessings and love to you all. xx -
Movie/nihahi you two are gorgeous. Glad you both had fun on your adventures.

Great hiking pictures !!! Well hockey and soccer in full swing !! Ya me ! No Prince Charming at the office or on the fields oh well, cockroach behaving. Deadline approaching. Told him sept 2, showing no signs of coming home to off to the exterminator I go. Actually kind if looking forward to an end and a new beginning I am tired I need some structure !!!! Enough about me hope everyone has a fantastic day !!! Love to u all !!!! Hugs
-
Good morning ladies!
Traii....love the new avatar pic!!!! Spring coming for you....the summer that "wasn't" coming to an end for us. Supposedly it is going to be a cold, early winter...(sigh)...guess I should get the skiis cleaned off soon, eh!
Dakota....NEVER too much about you. Honestly. You are one amazing Mom and woman. How about promising us you'll schedule a minimum of 1 Dakota day into each month!!! Girl's night out, or something like that!! PLEASE!!!!
liefie..bet Fish and Wildlife just wait it out for the bears. They are loath to move them, unless they are in urban areas, and you sound pretty rural. Big appetite time of year for them...hope hubby sings lalalala REALLY LOUD!!!!
Hope all had good weekends...another week begins...love to all.
-
Nihahi, the Fish and Game guy asked DH what he wanted them to do, and would have done whatever he asked. If they move them, they often end up in other bears' territory, and get killed. If they trap them, the cubs are trapped first, the poor mom goes really crazy when her cubs are in that cage, and often has to be shot.We don't want any of these scenarios, so we will wait it out. Have not seen them around again - maybe their fright was just as big as ours? LOL.
Okay. Off to yogalates - see you all later!
-
Liefie...I feel the same way...don't want to hurt them...didn't think about Mama's reaction to cubs getting caught first......it really does make me sad when they have to kill them....after all, we are in their neck of the woods, so to speak. But, scary all the same! SO glad you have a dog...bears don't like them, and maybe Mama will steer clear...fingers crossed.
Edi, I need to try Reiki...maybe after my surgery next Tuesday, when I am on the mend. Do you have bears in Merseyside? After I visit Liefie, I will be right over......
. Any cakes in your future? Amazing talent, you!
Traii, so glad you had a wonderful time! A neighbor of mine, who has been riding all over the world the past two years (his wife had recently died of Alzheimer's) is traveling all over Australia, and I have been following his blog.....amazing pics of a beautiful country! The thing that REALLY got to me was the size of the loads the semi-trucks (lorries) would pull, and the name given them : Road Trains! Truly mind-boggling! I am content....Nihahi added 5 packages of TimTams to my dwindling stockpile......
Dakota, glad you are following through. You are right, you deserve structure, and stability....cockroach incapable.......Prince Charming will show up, when the time is right. In the meantime, focus on your kids, but allow yourself a "ME" day-Nihahi's advice is spot-on......
Nihahi...am feeling down we are not closer.....you are a great hiking partner.....how often do you meet someone and feel like you ALREADY know them?
. I hope we can do it again (and anyone can join us-we aren't exclusive!
. ). Thought about you as I have turned my terrible burn on my shoulders to a dark tan....than Lavender oil is AMAZING!
Websister, Benny, Maria, Jenny, Caitlin, Carla.......and all I have missed.....have a wonderful day!
XO
Namaste and God Bless - Jackie -
Hi everyone,
JDB, thanks so much for your comment about inspiration. I don't really think I'm worthy.
Yesterday I did basically nothing all day except scoop chicken droppings into a garbage bag. Charlotte and Princess are here and they are adorable but they sure poop alot! Bruck-bruck-bruck-braaauuuckkk!Liefie, what a terrifying story! Sounds like a scene out of a movie! Glad beloved puppy is okay and DH was protected so well. I dream of living out in the wilderness, or at least an acreage, but the downside is the same wildlife we love can be troublesome. I have a 'live and let live' attitude (which is why Suzy the skunk is living under my garden shed) but there is a risk that goes along with that. Hopefully mama bear will stay clear now after her tumble with the dog!
Edi, I would love to sit at your table with you and do a Titanic puzzle! We could sip tea and blather on and get excited when we find a piece of the sky. How many pieces in that puzzle? I can imagine it would be a hard one, what with all the water and sky? I love doing puzzles and always have one going on the dining room table. I totally get the way you're feeling right now too. I went out and bought myself a SAD light, even tho' I don't have SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and I swear that light is making a difference. The BC counsellor here told me to use it even tho' it's summer and she was right. Do you have access to a SAD light? You could try it for a few days and see if it helps. I switch it on in the morning while I have my tea and leave it for at least 20 minutes while I catch up on FB and email, etc.
I have been measuring my hair every month at the same time and am frustrated! I always pull out two hairs on different sides of my head and then measure and compare. Last month they were 2.5 inches. This month they were the same! It sprouted out okay but seems to have come to a stop now?? OMG, am I going to be a Chia pet forever???!!!
Oh Charlotte, shut up!!!! She is so noisy! The neighbours are going to hoist me out of the neighbourhood any time now.
Carlads, how are you doing? Thinking of you....
Okay, am going to play with the chickens now so they'll stop squawking. I made the mistake of putting a bell in their cage and they have now figured out how to ring it. Of course, every time they ring it I come running. I thought I was training them but it turns out I am the one being trained!!! Ding ding ding bruck-bruck-braaauuuccckkk! "Coming, Charlotte!!"

Love your pictures, nihahi and movie. Before reading the caption, I though movie was nihahi and nihahi was nihahi's friend, and scrolled down to look for movie... couldn't find another, so scrolled back up to read the caption... Confused? Me too.
-
Tammy...huh???
I'm vegging out today watching us open tennis....how come you're not glued to it too?
-
I have to work

-
Benny-
Oh I think you are so worthy! All you went through, working as hard as you do, handling your situation pretty much alone. AND your an animal lover! Great stuff! God Bless you!
-
Superficial but important. When my hair grew back fluffy and pathetic I shaved it all off again which seemed to help. Also I take glucosamine and condroitin for my clicky knees and I think the proteins in that help. It has now gone back to normal and I have lost the chemo curl which I did not like. (Having been perfectly happy with dead straight hair). My eyebrows and lashes are a bit pathetic compared with before but make up sorts that out.
-
Movie, yes, we are in the bear's territory, not the other way round. They were here first, so we have to try and work around that. Like Nihahi said, this time of year is crunch time for bears before winter. All the wild berries are ripe now, there's lots of blackberries and hukcleberries around here, and that's what they're after. I will be watching your progress after next Tuesday's surgery with interest, and hope all goes well for you. I will probably go down that road in January next year. Still think it will be way easier to just remove the one nipple that I still have. Every time I suggest it DH almost gets a fit . . . he needs a reality check - lol.
Dakota, you are a brave and strong woman who deserve so much better. So glad you are taking charge of the situation. Enjoy hockey, soccer and life with your kids! Before you know it you will be knitting baby bootees like me - lol. Our kids are in our homes for a short time only, and we must make the best of it.
Benny, your hair will grow faster as time goes by. It seems really slow in the beginning, but I now have to cut my hair every 5 weeks or so to keep the style looking good, just like before bc. Charlotte and Princess sound like fun - say cluck-cluck to them for me! By the way, I agree 100% with JDB53. You have done wonderful so far!
Nihahi, it seems if you're not moving yourself, you watch other people who move - LOL. Busy bee you, eh? How was the scones? Don't worry about DH - he yells at the top of his lungs going down to the water. Even makes me sing out loud now when we just go for a walk . . . I'm sure all the wildlife within earshot flee with hurting ears as soon as they hear that off-key cacophony put out by me and DH - LOL.
Kids from Edmonton are coming home for this long weekend. Can't wait to see DD - still so nauseous, but that's part of the experience.
Everybody else, hope you are all okay, and doing well. Carla, how are you?
-
Benny, you are not alone! I was just saying the same thing, that it seemed like my hair was growing pretty quickly for awhile but now seems to have stopped. I don't think it's any 2.5" even. Frustrating! Oh well, just think of all the money we are saving on shampoo, conditioner, etc. ha ha!
-
What's up ladies????
-
Nothing much to report, Nihahi. DH is working till two tonight, and I'm home alone. According to the pedometer I have not done my set amount of steps yet for the day, so every time there is an ad on TV, I get up from the couch, and jog in place - lol. Raining here, so not much incentive to go outside. Children are coming home for the long weekend. Excited to see DD. Have knitted two baby bootees, but they don't look right to me. They're not even the same size - lol. Will keep trying though.
-
You just keep yourself indoors tonight young lady!!!!! That bear is still out there somewhere!!!!
booties....so, make two more, one of each size, then you'll have two pair, one to grow into! Genius!!!!!
Edi....wondering how you're doing. When you're quiet, I get worried about you.
-
Nihahi, good idea with the booties! Now if I can only remember how many stitches and rows I've knitted for each - LOL.
Still have to take the dog out to do his final business before bedtime. Hopefully the bears are sleeping snugly and warm in their den . . .

Hi Girls
Edi NEW WOMAN YAY !!!
Sod BC I have a life to live.
Thank you ALL for holding me up but it is as if a big black cloud has lifted at last.
Will now bore you all rigid with my latest adventures.
Yesterday spent most of the day in Liverpool with my bestie of 61 years Pauline. We hhad coffee and spiced tea cakes in the most beautiful coffee shop you have ever seen. Crystal chandeliers, antiques furniture, lovely comfy sofas.
Then we linked arms to hold each other up and strolled along the main street. We were comparing how we are now to how we were in our teenage years.
We could hear, she is deaf in one ear.
We could see, I have cataract in one eye.
We could walk quickly and dance the night away, I have sore hip, she has curved spine which is now painful.
Best of all we could sneeze and cough without peeing ourselves !! Childbirth has a lot to answer for.
I said if you boiled us up together you still wouldnt get a decent woman out of the two of us !!
Then the laughter started, we just roared and stood holding each other up praying the Tena lady would hold out.
Beautiful young things strollong past gave us such odd looks
but who gives a sxxt ? Glorious Day.Edi then comes home and heads for ED's where DH decorating lounge whilst they are on holiday.
She has apple trees in garden and had given me permission to scrump some.
Edi with her little basket singing away in the sunshine. Next thing strange sensation in the crutch area of my trousers ????
I start dancing about, then POW bite/sting at top of my left leg ! Down come the trousers ( not a pretty sight ) and after much shaking of same large yellow insect flies off towards the trees.
Leg swells up beautifully
all red and with three small holes in middle of lump.
DH is loading stuff into car and misses all this ( typical ).
Luckily I had some suitable cream at home which sorted everything later, txt ED and she informs me that her fella ended up with an infection which got really nasty from something lurking in the garden.
At least it wasn't a bear !! DH would have been picking bits of me up off the slide/swing/trampoline at the bottom of the garden. LOL.Liefie, well done on the booties, great idea of Nihahi to knit another pair the same and pair up. The picture in my head of you and DH singing loudly on your walks is hilarious. Just glad you are all safe.
Benny, You and me doing jigsaw together would be fantastic fun. Titanic one is only 500 pieces but really lovely. Will progress to bigger and better soon
Thought of you and chicks last night, ED txt and said where they are glamping (Glamourous camping in a dome in a field of sheep and chickens. ) They can help themselves to the free range eggs each morning
GD found one yesterday and carried it around ALL day.She is having the time of her life, swimming in the stream nearby. They ate fish and chips ( fries ) on the beach last night for their dinner.Hope Mowenna having a ball in this country.
Maria is in Vegas according to f/b.
By the way my hair also two and a half inches then stuck at that. Have lovely curls that I love, had the back and sides trimmed as bit tatty but the rest so easy to look after.
DH back after last coat at ED's so we are spending day at the seaside later.
All not mentioned, ALWAYS in my thoughts and heart. xxxxxxxxxx

Hi ladiez!!!!
Don't know if I mentioned but joined a kickboxing club with real boxing gloves can't wait to beat the snot out if the cockroach !!!!
Edi so glad your u again !!!! Love your stories sorry about the bee stings
Nihahi- it doesn't matter if they don't exactly look alike its a homemade gift they will treasure forever !!!!
Lifie- please post today so we know those cubs didnt take u guys back to the den!!
Hope all those busting places are having a blast !!
Any one else watching the us open its my favorite !!!!
Thinking about you all at all times of the day !!!! Hugs
-
Edi....sounds like a good day for you....hope it continues like that. OUCH...re:sting!
Dakota....I've spent far too much time on the computer this morning, chatting and "pondering" things on the diep thread. Got to get busy and do somethings before tennis broadcast starts for the day.....LOVE watching the majors, makes me feel fit just watching someone else run and sweat!!!!! Keep up the kickboxing class....sounds perfect for you...and it's a YOU thing...not sitting on the sidelines watching the kids...but when do you find the time??????
-
Dakota, I love that you particularly choose to do kickboxing as a sport - that's right, kick and hit as hard as you can, and get that anger and frustration out. You are a wise woman. Cockroach BEWARE!!!
Edi, yayyyy to have you back at last! It just shines through your last post, and that wonderful sense of humour is fortunately intact. Had such a laugh reading about your antics with your friend and the bee sting - your descriptions are downright hilarious! Fortunately the neighbourhood has been spared our 'singing' these last few days, because it has been raining, and we did not walk much. Will probably resume tonight as weather is clearing a little. Bought soft cotton fabric last week, and will be making two baby blankets today. DD and her DH are coming for the long weekend, and I want to give her a little something seeing that the booties will not be presentable yet - lol.
-
Hello all you great Gals,
Well I'm back from my whirl wind trip to Vegas for my friends wedding. What an amazing time was had by all. My DD went with me and she had so much fun it was great to see her so happy. Hanging out with a group of 20 somethings sure makes a girl tired. I couldn't hang with them till the wee hours of the morning but I gave it my best effort made it till midnight both nights. It was great to have the distraction for a couple of days and feel somewhat normal.
Dakota, kick boxing, you go girl what a great workout. How is everything going with cockroach?
Edi, so glad you are feeling better, sounds like getting out with your friend was good therapy thank goodness for girl time.
-
Hi girlies !!!!
So yes kickboxing ..... On Mondays niether child has sports do that's my day and sat am they have a class at 8, so that's my time. I am going to try to get there once during the week but we will see. Deadline is sept 2 for the cockroach.... Then into exterminator !!! Little nervous, sad, happy to start a new life .... Running the gamet of emotions !!! -
Maria, so glad you had fun at Vegas, oh how I would love to go there

Dakota, D day is coming up for the cockroach. It's ok to have all your emotions running wild right now but after it's all over and done with you can start your new life with your gorgeous kids. So glad you can get all your emotions out at kick boxing. Sounds like fun. Glad you have one day out of the 7 dedicated to yourself..Lol.
Liefie, sounds like a nice long weekend coming up for you with DD and her DH coming over. Make sure you post us picks of the blanket....and well, the booties we will wait for those later on .. lol.
Nihahi, hope you are resting. Any planned moutain hikes planned for you soon ?
Edi, cyber mummy, so glad you are sounding back to your old self. I went through a 'down ' stage right after my BMX now I just can't sit still. Always something fun and exciting planned. Yesterday I had coffee with my cousin whilst our kiddies were at kindy. Today had lunch with my long time school friend and her little girl who is a few months older than my DS. We then took the kids to a play centre so we could sit and chat while they had fun too. We had such a good time, chatting away and laughing. It was good. She also has been through a lot of her own issues lately and I just find it so hard to hear when people don't have that special family support as I have. It makes me sad.
Well girls....I hope you enjoy your day and stay out of trouble xx
-
Traii, sounds as if your life is almost back to normal, eh? Good to spend time with friends, laugh, relax - nothing better than that!
Maria, sounds as if you had a ball in Vegas! Was there a year ago, and will be back. That place is magic! Best wishes for the rest of the Taxol. One of these days it will be over.
Dakota, we are all here for you. Sept. 2 is Monday, D-day for cockroach, and your feelings must be a rollercoaster at the moment, understandably so. Hang in there!
So yesterday I received the dress that I ordered from the Internet for DS' wedding. It fits really well, and is so pretty, simple and classic. So very pleased that I won't have to go traipsing through stores looking for something - makes me tired just to think of it. Only responsibility I have now is to make sure I don't put on any weight before wedding on Nov. 30. Easier said than done - lol. Reminded me of the dress shopping last year for DD's wedding. It was during chemo, and DH had to literally help me in the fitting room to get on the outfits, and had to rest between fittings to catch my breath . . . was just so weak and feeble then. So much better now!!!!
