Good Morning---I hope some of u got to enjoy the fireworks and the day.
Sorry Mags it can be horrible we were all hoping it might be easier on u that's why we don't say much, I actually have heard women say it wasn't awful, not me but some--My vivid memory was I had 4 months of chemo before surgery, then I was told after surgery it was going to continue for at least a yr and finish with Herceptin. I thought they all hated me so, cuz I thought with surgery came the rads and I was done. I got blind sided, but each chemo was different so maybe u'll get a little lucky. Remember u'r water and rest, not a lot more u can do but if u feel like it somedays take a walk.

Cami,
-
Teka, that duck is darling!
Mags, I am hoping you are feeling better today. Also, am hoping that since Cami says each infusion day can be different that maybe the next infusion will not be so bad.
-
Mags,
I forgot to tell you that *Adriamycin or Red Devil* causes sun sensitivity.
Hoping to feel better, I sat out in the sunshine and ended-up with an itchy & blistery rash. I was in misery for weeks.
MO had never seen such a rash.
Dermatologist had seen the rash many times and told me to keep covered while in the sunshine! Shade!
-
Not to worry, Teka, you won't find me sunning myself. Big challenge is drinking water. I know, Cami, I need to, it just doesn't come naturally to me. Drinking my juice now, carrot, beet, spinach, apple. Other than that, just resting . No walks today.
-
Mags,
I always have water with a lemon wedge when in a restaurant.
I lived on frozen ice pops while on chemo!

Cross posting from our July chemo thread because I'm too lazy to write it all out again.
I'm noticing the change in how things taste. I usually drink a lot of orange juice but it's not tasting good, and the worst thing is, I can't stand the taste of ginger any more! Right now I'm drinking cranberry juice, that seems ok. Strangest thing is, I'm not wanting the bland stuff, I'm wanting savory. I had a hot dog with ketchup and mustard and bread and butter pickles and it was really good and set well. DH is grilling some brats for dinner and I'm going to have some with some special mustard and good potato salad. Looking forward to eating...priceless.
-
I am so glad u checked in. It tasted like metal, it doesnt have to b water it can b anything liquid, I drink alot of milk still, n milkshakes, water makes me nauseous n I cant drink it, so put crystal lite or the Walmart brand in the water. Also jello works, mine is consistency, that is why milkshakes n mashed potatoes. ? Rest as much as u can n dont push ur self.
-
Funny how I can taste metal in the orange juice but not the cranberry. What a relief that it doesn't have to be water! Cousin managed to find me some whey protein so I can make shakes. That will help.
Oh and coffee tastes like crap too.
Good news is, nausea has subsided for the time. Really tired, hitting the sack now.
I wouldn't make it without my hermits. Bless you all.
-
Yay glad u found somrthing but then that gets boring. I am not a drinker neither r my kids n I get dehydrated all the time, n for me my lips get really chapped. ? Sleep well mags am here if u need anything..
-
Blondie I just want to give you a big ol hug. Thanks for being there.

Good Sunday Morning Ladies
I'm sorry I'm not here so much things are a little crazy here but it will be back to normal soon.
Mags I'm glad u drinking--I hated water all I ever drank was 7UPbefore but since I found propel, m favs are peach and lemon I've been drinking it ever since and no more soda. Are u trying the plastic forks and stuff and biotene toothpast and mouthwash? It might help. I'm glad u can eat tho, so that's good.
How is everyone doing--I'm just doing like usual, I hope every is having a decent week-end.
-
Good morning hermits!
-
Jazzy, about to have bacon & eggs along with an average cup of coffee.
I'm enjoying a refreshing breeze while listening to the annoying squawking blue jay fledglings at the seed feeders.
We now bring seed feeders in at night because of coons. *rabies*
Big plan for the day, bake brownies ;o)

Good morning hermits- getting ready to go to the farmers market and also meet a friend for brunch. The last of my very social week/weekend.
I had a great time up north yesterday with my friend doing the rafting, and then spending a bit of time in Taos. The morning included a 2 hour float on the Rio Grande through the gorge, which was beautiful. We saw some bats dipping along the river surface for bugs I assume. Rare to see bats out in the daytime, but lots of things to eat I suspect. Other birds too. Our guide was an interesting gal, whom is a raft guide all over the country including the Grand Canyon, Alaska, Hawaii, etc. She is also a musician and brought a little guitar and sang to us along the way. That was a lovely surprise and addition to the experience, and it was a beautiful morning out in nature.
Afternoon was lunch a bit of shopping in Taos. We had a great meal in town, then hit one of my fav stores there which is also hers and came away with some goodies. Came home to soaking rains that started shortly after my arrival. Long but fun day. Will slow down today when I get home (sure you will Jazzy.....)
Cami- I hope you are doing okay, just busy with work?
Teka- brownies sound delicious. Send some this way!
Mags- I hope you are through the worse of the chemo reaction today and start feeling better now.
Blondie- I hope you are continuing to feel better too?
Hoping all the other hermits here have a good final day to this long weekend.
-

A few brownies are now floating in cyber space. Help yourselves!!
-
Teka- best brownie EVER! Thank you!
Storms are brewing again. I am going to swim again today, working up to 3 times a week with the hope of better body strength, endurance, and a slim physique. A girl can dream......
-
-
Their way gone Teka, I grabed them.
Jazzy I get tired just reading u'r posts, so much energy---good for you
-
Mags,
I had AC dose dense, and took prescription compazine before & after each treatment.
-
I managed to snag 1 brownie!
-
Not nausea now – it's hit the gut. Rumble rumble rumble.
-
Mags- I hope your stomach settles and you can sleep well tonight. Hopefully you are coming out the other side of the reaction now. Wishing you a better week after going through a lot this first treatment.
Cami- I have SO much more energy since I left that contract last Monday. I did a lot this past week and handled it all and was not exhausted like I often am. Speaks volumes to me about the environment I just managed to extract myself from. Onward to bigger and better things. Heard about a new work opp today I am putting in my back pocket, and hoping to hear about the one I am waiting on that I REALLY want this week. Fingers crossed!
I did my laps today and working to ramp up my metabolism. I gained a few pounds lately and need to shed those and then some. Really hard to loose weight on the AIs (sigh....)
Teka- what happened to the rest of the brownies? The family gobbled them down? I am going to have another sugar free root beer float tonight as my end of the holiday weekend treat.
Sally- how was your holiday weekend?
Blondie- how are you feeling today girlfriend? Are you getting your strength back?
Ducky, Onco, Piper, and all the rest, hoping you had a good holiday weekend with friends and family.
-
Hi Jazzy. I am so happy to hear about your extra energy. I hope whatever you contract to do next will allow you to keep up with the destressed you. You didn't tell us what you bought during the shopping portion of your adventures. I love hearing about fun finds.
As usual my weekend was quiet but pleasant ... nothing out of the ordinary ... oh wait, I have discovered that I like doing jigsaw puzzles. I bought several with scenes that I can imagine myself in and am enjoying the struggle of putting one together.
Mags, I hope you are getting peaceful, sound sleep.
I better sign off and get some sleep myself. I get to drive a DGD to and from her gymnastics practice tomorrow. Her dad set the time then she called and requested an earlier pick up. I wonder if we need to stop on the way or if she thinks Gramma is a slow driver.
-
Sally- glad you had a nice weekend. How cool to discover you enjoy jigsaw puzzles. I used to do them a lot when I was younger.
Maybe DGD wants to spend time with you and asks for earlier pick up to do so?
The store we went to is one of my fav boutiques in Taos and also one of my fav shoe stores anywhere. My friend went in looking for a wallet and came out with boots, I went in looking for nothing and came out with a pair of pants, two tops by a brand I really like and can never find, and a little short sleeve hooded sweater that will be great with some sleeveless dresses I am taking on my trip back east next week end. Thanks for asking!
Will keep you posted on the new work opps. I ask for the right thing to support me on all levels. Bring it on baby!
-
Jazzy......thanks for thinking about me..........quiet weekend.....no shore.........boo hoo...........
