Good morning, hope everyone here has a good day!

Checking in. Slept fitfully. Steroids I guess. No nausea, just normal queasies. English muffin with cream cheese, and fresh juice for breakfast (carrot, beet, spinach, apple). Little bit of metallic taste but not unbearable. Biggest annoyance is hands shaking pretty bad, had to have covered coffee cup and spilled it anyway. I'll go back late this afternoon for Neulasta shot. I'm blaming fatigue on lack of sleep.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
-
Mags- sounds like you are doing okay so far. I hope you can get some more rest today that will help your body deal with all this.

thanks Jazzy for that loving it and the rest of the pix...I will take the tiger for my daughter cause she loves them...Mags...good luck with the A...and yep it was the steroids, the day of and the day after chemo were my best days.....do you know what your regiment is with it for how long? How much do you want to know or do you want to experience it yourself? Take care of yourself, as I said drink alot...I had 11 weeks straight of A, March and Aprilish....and mine was push, the bag for me would have been too much...
take care hermies, I am getting better, still feeling good about my decision to stop chemo, have the drs. appt on the 11th where we will discuss in more detail the hormonals and then we will see, but as I said if there are any side effects beyond nausea, I am done, lol...my body just can't take it anymore, I am looking forward to having a nice normal relationship.

Hi hermits- despite not working anymore for a bit, I still seem to be a girl on the go. So many things that require my attention that got parked for awhile, plus the usual things I must do to keep up.
I got a long overdue project done today, which was to have someone do some patching of some damaged stucco on my house. The damage occurred in Feb of 2013 when I was in the midst of radiation treatments so I just kept the area protected and finally got the name of someone to do the work this summer. I know many of you know this, but it is amazing how much gets parked for SO LONG after we go through treatment. I kept up with the things I had to do, and now getting to the long overdue things that need my attention.
I had a nice 2 hour lunch today with my friend (also a doctor) who helped me through all my surgeries a few years ago. I have not seen her since last summer and had a good visit. She is also a good friend of my sister, as they went through residency together in CA. She was my angel during all that time, and it was nice to have my own personal doctor to help me through all that. She could talk to the doctors and also give my doctor sister updates after the surgeries on how I am doing. You know doctors have their own doctor speak. We had a delicious lunch at a hidden gem nearby I never knew about. Fresh ahi tuna and a caprese salad!
My dang smart (dumb) phone has a frozen screen today, and nothing I can do to get it to unfreeze so off to Verizon I will go later to get that fixed. Something seems to break around here almost every day lately!
Blondie- I am glad you are feeling better and hope the doctor visit goes well. Let us know how you are doing as you go along......

Jazzy Yummy u write so beautifully, and u always are up even when u'r fatigued with u'r job, Oh Whenever I see u'r name, do u remember a song called Georgie Girl (from yrs. ago) well I always sing Jazzy girl instread hahaha.
Oh Mags those steroids are something I know I've said this a million times but the first couple of days I was a whiz at work. I could actually do 2 jobs at one time no problem--We were closed on Monday so that was my chemo day nd them I worked thru Sat. having a 12 hr day Tues, I was brilliant, and on Wed. everyone one was dragging I was on a roll I don't remember how much I even slept those 2 days. LOL don't forget to use plastic forks and spoons, I remember actually smelling the silverware then, well just try it and the biotin for u'r mouth.

Just got back from getting Neulasta shot. Still not having any real SEs. I'm hungry but just wanted bland tonight so it's Cream of Wheat for dinner. I'm ok with that.
Blondie, tell me all, and I will experience what I will experience anyway.
Y'all will appreciate this; yesterday as they were talking to me about SEs and how to handle etc., they kept telling me, Stay Active! I kept trying to tell them, I am a hermit. DH and cousin were like, yes, she is a hermit, you're not about to get her active...
These people don't even know what a hermit is. *feeling special*
-
Mags not everyone experiences the same SE's I think that's why Blondie didn't go on, I'm sure u know what's happening and we're here to help in anyway we can.
-
-
Oh I know that, Cami. I just wanted her to know that I'm happy to hear what her experiences were; I hope she didn't take it the wrong way.
Blondie, sorry I missed what you asked about my regimen, I'll be getting ACT every 3 weeks for 6 treatments so middle of October will be the last. Then rads, then hormones. Doc said with all that recurrence chances down to 41%. Well, it is what it is.
-
TEKA---
Mags every 3 weeks see all of us have been different, some every 3 weeks, some 2 weeks and some (me) every week So that makes a difference too how u will feel. I just hope it's pretty good. And I know what u meant and I didn't mean to sound preachy cuz I'm really not, We just want u to have few SE's you have so many other things going on and I hate that for u, and probably worse too.
-
Mags, sometimes the side effects of chemo are cumulative.
Jazzy, lioness is staying cool with air conditioning.
Hermits, plans for the Fourth of July?
-
Mags,
Tomorrow, may start to feel crappy from the Chemo & Neulasta!
-
camillegal,

Okay one more picture from the might at the zoo, and then I am done! This handsome fellow was standing there and going around in circles showing off is beautiful tail. While I was talking to him (Jazzy Doolittle) he actually did this move and filled them out further.
I think he was trying to impress me!
-
Oh Jazzybird he liked you.
-
Teka- you asked about July 4th. I have things going on every day this week so July 4th is my "day off" from social activity and home repair/improvement activities. I plan to take a morning bike ride and just relax at the house with some reading, etc.
On Saturday, I am going to cross something off my "bucket list" and go rafting up on the Rio Grande just south of Taos. The river is fuller this time of the year with the melt waters (yes, there is still a lot of snow up in the mountains here) and there are areas of pretty major white water kayaking and rafting up that way, but we are not doing that part of the river. We are doing the area further south that is just a fun pleasant ride down through some light rapids and then we get to get out and float down the river (not a deep river). I have wanted to do this since I moved here 18 years ago and got invited by a friend who always helps me to get out to do fun things. Sunday, I am going to meet another friend for a trip to the farmers market and some brunch afterwards at a nearby fav restaurant. A more fun July 4th than I have had in a few years actually.
Mags- so when they say try to stay active, they just mean to try to move and do some easy things as you are able. Things like a short walk, but perhaps with your husband or cousin who is helping you and in a place where you won't run into people. Laying in bed a lot just takes a toll on us, muscles deteriorate, etc. Even simple things like spending time in the garden, but nothing strenuous. It sounds so odd to hear "stay active" when you are going through this, but you just do your activity that fits for you and as you are able. I certainly avoided people during treatment myself, just was around the ones who could give me space and help me when I needed it. When my sister did chemo, she used to try to get out to walk her dog on her good days, just around the block. It really helped her.
Teka lionness- glad you are staying cool. It was not as hot here today, and storms around but nothing tonight so far. What are you up to for the 4th?
Cami- I am going to start writing again. I found a publication of local authors that received writers awards and going to read those stories to get myself going again on writing another short story.
Oh and I mentioned I am reading the latest Barbara Kingsolver book and she was on NPR this morning talking about this latest novel and some of the motivators behind that. Being home on a weekday, I got to hear that. I can't wait to work from home if this new gig comes through.....
I finally got my phone to POWER DOWN and it is working again okay. Whew!
Off to the pool for a bit of a swim tonight. Speaking of trying to stay active....
-
Jazzy what zoo was that?Mags good luck will gather my thoughts, just make sure you eat and drink and don't let your mouth get dry..Cammie is right everybody is different, but read up on the se of them, you will be prepared....The neuslasta shot honestly was horrible for me, you get flu like symptoms and I decided not to get it the last tiime cause of the SE...the bone pain with it was horrible for me...With A I lost my hair completely after the 5th treatment, as I said I had it the shot 11 weeks straight and then I decided no more, couldn't take the se of that either..my thoughts and prayers are with you, get on here and let us know how you are...i got chemo on wednesday, thursday I was fine b/c of the steroids except I was up for the entire night...then on friday afternoon I would get what I called "sick" and be in bed til tuesday morning...hopefully you won't have the se's.....claritian or the walmart brand of it is good for both the A and the neulasta....my eyes watered and still do, my nose ran continuiously. i started getting shakes on the left hand side of my body...
Sandy aka blondie

Blondie- that is our little zoo here in Albuquerque, called the Rio Grande Zoo. It is a very nice zoo for a small zoo.
-
Mags,
-
Jazzy, just going to enjoy some home cooking.
I remember as a child loving sparklers & fireflies on the 4th of July!
-
Teka- me too! You just brought back some memories of being out in the front of the house with those sparklers. And putting the fireflies in jars (for awhile) to watch them light up. Those simple pleasures of childhood.
Nice swim tonight and met some interesting people to talk to at the pool this evening. Time for bed.

Good morning hermits. Hope you have a good day and are looking forward to your holiday weekend.
-
-
Cami, I know what you mean about living vicariously through Jazzy. Jazzy, I love hearing about and seeing pictures of your adventures.
Teka, what foods are you going to enjoy?
Mags and Blondie, I am thinking of you both ... sending you good wishes.
-
Lightening show last night. Sounds like the rain came to the east side of the city vs. where I live.
-
Jazzy, what a pic ... did you take it?
