blondie,

Hi hermits- back from Texas last night and had a fun time (except for dealing with some gnarly spring storms!) Enjoyed some good eating, shopping, time with friends, visit to the university, and more. Lots of good memories from that time of my life when I had lived there.
I was supposed to go up to Frisco Thursday night to see a friend, but never heard from him to confirm my visit, so I changed my plans to just go to Fort Worth the whole time. There were very bad storms up north of Dallas into Denton that included baseball sized hail and up to four tornadoes.
Check out this photo taken in the area I was supposed to be going last thursday, maybe some divine intervention that my plans to see that friend did not work out?
-
Blondie- I know you are suffering and keeping you in my prayers for better days. Love you girlfriend.
-
Jazzy......wow, thank heavens you dodged the bullet...........
My grandson was coming home from St. Louis to Philly International on Thursday night......waiting in the airport they got the news to take cover, that a tornado was touching down at the airport............he said he was never so scared in his life.......first time experience for him.....Here in the Philly suburbs usually we get threats, but most of the time it ends up being nothing but straight line winds which do damage, but nothing like others suffer who get the real deal...............he is right in Tornado Alley, so I guess the will become a way of life for the next 2 years.............
-
Jazzy, welcome back from a fun trip!
-
Ducky- I lived in TX from 1983-1986 and lived through three seasons of tornado season. What I had forgotten is how uptight everyone gets when these storms start, because they are so dangerous with the wind, hail, tornadoes, flooding, etc. I hit blinding rain and hail when I got to Fort Worth on my way in Thursday (hail was small), and we went out to dinner a few hours later and watched the lightening all around us that evening. My friends were very nervous that whole time. Just really reminded me of how fearful folks get this time of the year in Tornado Alley.
I heard St Louis and some other areas got tornadoes as part of that same weather system. Glad your grandson is okay, he will have to adjust to living in the alley as well.
Teka- thanks for the welcome back.
I was hoping for nicer warmer weather out there, but just heard it is going to be in the 80s here in NM this week so I guess I just had to come back home for that!
Did the snow finally stop back east?
-
Iffy!
-
Jazzy .........in my area, we think it is over.....chilly in the mornings, and seems very rainy now, we will get it today, and then 5 straight days of "sun".............with a possibility of 72 on Sunday...........can't wait.............
I am sure Joey will eventually get used to it, but still scared...........more frightened are we back here who hear about it and panic for him........'his mother was a wreck..........but he did get out of St. Louis safely, and into Philly.............
I was kidding with my daughter......his stay is only suppose to be for 2 years, and then come back to Philly....she said "Mom suppose he decides to stay"............after his experience Thursday with a F1 tornado, I said to my daughter.............Ginny, a couple more of those, or stronger, and I guarantee you he will be coming home in 2 years............she said "I hope so".........LOL
-
thanks peep, appreciate it, am going to the shore tomorrow can't wait, hopefuly will get to the beach, that would make me smile!!! Really nauseous even after zofran.....lungs are not cooperating, need to get a chest xray to see if the fluid is back but won't do that til Friday cause I am not canceling the shore trip....luv ya
Sandy aka Blondie
-
*Hug*
Have a fun shore trip!
-
Hey Sandy..........say hello to the shore for me........have not been back yet......scared to see what is down there after the harsh winter we had............its been 7 months...........not a soul has gone down, but then we normally don't until we need to treat the pool.......and with the cold and ice nothing could live in that water......LOL
You have a great time, and relax......hope you feel better.
-
Blondie- yay for the shore! I know it will do you a world of good.
Ducky- where is Dorothy and the ruby red slippers?
Day of work re-entry went okay. Gong to do some watering of the gardens tonight and hope to plant some pansies this week!
-
Wow! Those are some BIG tornados! We mostly get water spouts here. They can do damage if they come ashore.
-
-
Good Morning Hermits.................I need a favor..........you remember the Upsee that I talkeld about that is available for children who are disabled and can't walk.......well yesterday was the day to order....Kira put the order in but there are only 500 available in the new stock.........if Grayson does not get one of those 500 she has to wait another 12 weeks before anymore become available.........she asked if everyone could say a prayer that she is one of the lucky ones..........I know you ladies have magic in your prayers, so could you please say an extra one for Grayson......thanks....love you guys, and Kira and Grayson say........Thank you too.......
-
-
Ducky, I hope Grayson gets an upsie.
Jazzy, I was happy to hear that you had a safe and fun trip.
I have been lazy lately although I have been forcing myself to walk for 20 minutes a day. Hopefully, I will be back to 30 minute walks before long. If I slogged through the stack of paperwork on my desk, I think I might feel more energetic. Organizing sometimes energizes me. Well, now I have confessed publicly,so maybe I will get moving. Maybe I need to join the decluttering thread.
I am wishing all of you a happy day!
-
Thanks Sally.......me too.......hugs
-
Good Morning all.
Jazzy glad u'r home safely and I can't believe people in that pic just kind of watching the weather. OH.
Blondie I pray u'r trip is relaxing and u get to feeling better.
OK Sally declutter, does that give u incentive? It doesn't me.
Ducky saying a prayer.
Teka
-
Cami, you have added to my incentive.
-
Sally
-
Am here they r waiting on me I am not used to it..
-
Enjoy Sandy..........you deserve the love...........hugs.........
-
Hi hermits- nice day here today, almost up to 80 degrees. I am going to go out out for an end of the day walk here shortly. We have such bad wind here in the spring, but none today.
Blondie- I have a hard time with that too, but take it all in and enjoy your time by the water, the people that love you, etc. Water is healing to the mind, body and spirit.....
Sally- I am on a mission to get my spare bedroom and home office in order. Both have been a chaotic mess since I got diagnosed and went through that and more. I am going to spend some time in one room one day this weekend and the other on Sunday. It will take longer than that to get it all done, but I just need to begin somewhere. I can be your spring decluttering buddy if you want?
-
Jazzy, I will welcome you as a spring decluttering buddy. Yesterday I found some old photos that were hiding in the pile of papers on my desk. Old, old from when I was a child. "The find" made the task of decluttering more fun. The pictures had been there since last June when I brought them home from my mom's. I hope you find something fun as you work this week end.
Blondie, happy to hear you are enjoying your trip. Is it warm enough to walk or sit on the beach?
-
Hopefully it will b nice enough to go to the beach or. Am rellaxing, resting and being with adults having conversation..thanks
-
Hi hermits- at work but I forgot to tell you that newer genetic test I took that my BS recommended called GeneDx turned out to be negative. She mentioned there are new genetic patterns they have discovered associated with different types of cancers (including melanoma, pancreatic and colon cancer along with BC). I am going to see my MO friday for a check up and see anything else he has to say about it.
I did not really think it would be positive, given we have very little cancer history in our family, but my BS thought with the bilateral diagnosis, she thought it would be worth checking. Whew!
Next will probably come the challenge with getting it paid. I asked them to be sure to get the auth for it and be sure it is going to be covered as I have had a hard time getting the genetics tests paid for. Multiple appeals with BSBC. They told me the test runs around $1500 but the denial on the recent insurance claim said $7000. So if you do this, be informed on whether your insurance company will cover it. I told them if it was not going to be covered by insurance, I did not want them to run it. Fingers crossed on the payment part of this.
-
Jazzy I hope that gets covered, I know what it's for but it's confusing to me.
Blondie please relax, these days are for u to be waited on and enjoy.
OK Ladies here's how u do it---start u'r room like a clock and 12:oo is the start work around the room to 1,2 etc. and before u know it, u'll be back at 12. hahahaha Yea take advice from me who tells others how to clean, but to lazy to do it myself. LOL
OK Sat. night is our party here and my SIL's cousin is making jello shots, oh do I know what I'm drinking Sat. nite. He'll be 50, he's sad about this. I'm making fried green peppers, no not fried green tomatoes, altho those are very good. I did forget about those we always had them at the end of the season and were so good.
-
Cami- oh I had fried green tomatoes in TX last week, they were SOOO good. Fried green peppers sound good too. Never mind jello shots. You are going to have a fun evening this saturday!
I am now having the new experience of a friend trying to tell me how to take care of my health post bc. I know that is part of what we have to deal with sometimes, the people that think they know the reason you get these things and how to prevent it from coming back. This friend is into the colon cleanse thing and got the big lecturing e-mail tonight AGAIN on how important it is to do this. Well, I have made it clear I am not going to put a hose up my butt now or ever. I am sure you enjoyed that visual (LOL).
Hope everybody had a good day.
-
Oh Jazzy the visual is great. Oh and if u do a cleanse to often it can cause other kinds of cancer. I really enjoy how people who haven't been touched by cancer have so much to say about why they don't have it. As u guys know I grew up with it, my mom, her best friend died from it, my 2 aunts, my cousin who was older and died from it. and I have to say they all lead a very healthy lifestyle, everything was fresh, with moderation, no smoking, or alcohol lots and lots of walking cuz they never drove and walked everywhere. No one had heart problems but they did have cancer problems so again I say there are no rules.
