The Hermit Club

Hi hermits- day off today and three day weekend going on here. I could not be any happier about it too, after too much work the past month.
Started my day with an overdue trip to the dealership for one car that has a leak. Discovered there are actually 2 leaks- one in the transmission and one in the heating/cooling system. Expensive to fix, so we are doing one in a couple weeks (when the parts come in) and the other one in March. It is my convertible so I don't drive it that much this time of the year, and he said it would be fine to do the second one in a few months as it is minor. I go back on the 17th for leak #1. Next week, I take the other car in for an oil change. Car maintenance month.
Went to do a little post holiday shopping afterwards at an upscale shopping center I never get to. Ran into someone I worked with at a job here about 12 years ago, whom I had not seen in 10 years. Had a nice chat in the racks at Chicos. Also visited Coldwater Creek and Talbots too. I found today they had a lot of winter and also spring things on sale as well. By the time January hits, I feel like I am done buying for the winter for the most part.
What a storm going on back east and also such severe cold! I see things posted on FB and also the temps here some of you are dealing with. We southern and southwest folks are spoiled with the mild winters. I grew up in CT, so I remember the snow, ice and cold from living there for a lot of my life. Stay safe and warm my hermits. I hope no one looses power. I know how bad that can make things.
Teka- glad you are getting out this weekend. Let us know how the breakfast goes? I am with you, ready to move past the holidays. They were sort of a non event for me this year with having to work through them. But I made good money in December to pay for all the car repairs coming up now (not to mention the shopping trip today.....)
Lily- glad it is warmer where you live. We like to hear from and like to know how you are doing each day, good or bad.
Made an apt with the breast surgeon for Feb 14th to begin my next 6 month follow up. So that is how I will spend my V-day, yippee!

Lily55 & Jazzygirl
I need the warmth to draw the chill from my bones!
-
Teka- sending some southwestern winter sun to warm your bones!
-
Thank You!!

Lily thinking about you
Jazzy, 2 cars love that you take care of yourself with the convertible!!
Went out today for chemo alot of people called out, it is ok steroids....have to take Michael to Boscovs tomorrow and Modells that is fine shouldn't be going out with "people" but I do it all the time....
BBL
-
Blondie- hope the chemo goes okay. Is your breathing finally better? I know things were really bad there for quite awhile.
Sweet dreams hermits.

errerrreerrrrr --that's the sound of a weather report---We are supposed to get like 8-10 in. of snow starting tomorrow afternoon, then Monday way below zero with wind --they are all ready cancelling schools--cuz they're saying with the cold u can get frostbite within minutes when it's that cold so we'll see what the weather brings. UUUGGGHHH
Lily u check in all the time, someone is always around. And BTW doesn't the hospital have BC groups available, I never went but I remember the Dr. talking about it.???
-
Stay warm my hermit friends in the path of all this cold weather. Take care when you are out and about and please don't overdo on the shoveling!!
-
Gramma I so agree, this is dangerous weather now, snow, extreme cold, also make sure if u do have to go out ear a mask for easier breathing.
Well I forgot to tell u, when visiting my Card. I used wrong word I think, I meant to say the name for falling asleep instantly, cuz he thought that's what I might have and I don't, I'm just extrememly tired all the time and I said I'm not a necrophiliac (sp) I don't think that's the word I wanted. but he just sid OK.

Good Morning Hermits,
Jazzy, I miss being able to look good in Talbots clothing. 4 or 5 years ago they seemed to change their style, but my body didn't change. The shopping center that has Chicos, Coldwater Creek, and Talbots is a "longer than I like drive." I visit Chicos and Cold Water Creek on the internet, but it's not the same. I hope you are getting some rest. Going live at the holiday season was a double whammy.
Teka, duckyb1, CCFW, grammaB, BBL, Cami, and all others in the storms' paths, be careful. As grammaB said, be careful while shoveling. Spookiesmom, the Cincinati (sp?) picture was beautiful. I would like some snow for beautiful vistas and to avoid summer water problems, but we are staying dry. When I say snow, I mean snow without extreme cold, and most of the snow in the mountains. Too bad that we can't design our own weather.
Teka, is the Sunday breakfast at the Fire Department a fundraiser?
Lily55, how are you feeling? Did the end of the holiday season bring you some emotional relief? Please keep posting ... we care about you.
Cami, did I read your post correctly ... are they cancelling school ... is Joey happy?
BBL, you mentioned going out. Is the weather going to cooperate?
I better get to Walmart before the crowds. I want to have Aquafor on hand because I start rads on Monday. I reread my radiation info sheets yesterday. I had forgotten the bit that a bra, even my soft cotton post lumpectomy ones, may not be comfortable. I guess my tanks will be getting a lot of use. I think I will also pick up the makings for a simple crockpot stew for tomorrow. I also see my MO on Monday for my first appointment since starting anastrozole. I have been writing down questions.
Thanks for listening.

Sally don't forget the aloe as pure as it gets. And yes they are now talking about closing the schools cuz of the extreme weather, No, Joey loves school--I told u this kid is weird. But it is stay in weather, as I see no one is home now--these people I live with are crazy---my DD, SIL and Joey.
L I L Y it's time to come out to play.
-
Oh, I'm so glad I'm a hermit, always knew I could be, but it never bothers me to stay alone or just in my room. And yet I'm so lucky to have so many friends and family that I do go out with but it's nice to stay home to.
-
Just checking in...on my way out in this cold weather, michael wants to go to boscovs, me don't care about going out, hermitting is good, but then I can get fast food, lol
L I L Y where are you we are waiting for you to play with us!!
-
Sallys70,
Yes, for the local Fire Department!

Cute Kitty!!

Sally- I grew up with Talbots with living on the east coast for years. My mother used to love shopping there, and I remember us going the day after Xmas when they would start the 50% off sale and we would get in line and wait for the doors to open. Now they start the sales before Xmas. I don't shop there that much anymore for the reasons you say, styles have changed and a lot of what they have is not oriented to a 53 year old like me. I found some summer things there yesterday for the most part and will put those away for the next season. I thought about my mom yesterday and that memory from our trips there after Xmas (made me happy and sad....)
Good luck at Walmart. May the force be with you!
Lily- what is going on your way today?

-
Teka, u'r so funny
-
I deleted some faces, I didn't want to be to funny.
-
Hi - i am ok still in the basement but done bits of housework today (my house is filthy) and bits of sorting out.....also finalised something I have wanted to finalise for months so feel good about that as its a source of negativity largely removed from my life......otherwise I am just going through the motions and not feeling bright at all, just want to de clutter.....
But I am warm, although wind is getting up here, so stay cosy as hear you are in for a miserable bitter time.......

OMG, I'm in Victoria's Secret. I obviously look like I don't belong here.
-
I just got back from doing errands. Made a deposit at the credit union, paid the rent, & water bill, picked up books on reserve at the library for DH, went to Walmart, & Aldi. Brought the groceries home and put them away, then Gus, my mini daschund, & I took the Grandkidlet home.
I was rather surprised the shelves weren't picked clean considering the weather that's forecasted for the next 3 days. They were busy, but I managed to get a good parking space, and only had to wait 5 minutes for an electric handicap cart.
I pray the bad weather holds off long enough so we can go to church in the morning, and I always look forward to lunch out with church friends after.
They're already (as of last night) predicting schools to be closed Monday, & Tuesday. I've never heard the meteorologist do that before.
Back to being a hermit, hiding out in my cave, until I find out if we have church.
Paula

Dutchiris- get something sexy there! Even if it's just for you!
Soteria- glad you could get out for errands. I hope you can get to church tomorrow!
Lily- good to hear you are working on organization today (me too) and finalized something that needed your attention. Positive moves and hope it makes you feel better. Little things like this make a big difference.
Cami- the whole narcoplepsy/necropheliac thing is really hilarious. I love the stories about the visits to your docs.
Teka- hope you can get to that breakfast tomorrow with the cold and storm?
Been working on home organization. Putting away the last of the Xmas stuff. Also some summer stuff that has been lingering in one closet. Making room for new things, bagging other things to pass along to my community. Got some take out asian food for lunch (yum!)
-
Hubby will be driving!
-
Lily I'm gla u got some things done today, I know u pushed u'rselve but that's a good thing to do. Whatever u do is a step towards healing what needs to be healing.
Paula all the energy u have, can u share some please. I think u should be able to make church tomorrow, the really bad weather will start probably for u during the day. And I know to predict school closing is unheard of yet we're hearing about it.
Jazzy I hope u'r taking advantage of some down time---U still need it.
I hope Skittle is doing OK--I miss her.
