Welcome back!! ;o) -
-
i try not to think about BC too much but pinktober makes it hard.......feeling blue -
CCFW & Lily55,
Many cancer free adults must start to realize that pinktober doesn't make many BC patients feel warm & fuzzy!
I've been spreading the word ;o) -
We ought to start an unspoken anti-pinktober movement. Hermits and those in the know start boycotting pink for the month, and out comes the blue, green or whatever color agreed upon. :-) I'm on board. Sick of pink. (Even our football team wears pink socks on specified days to show "support." ick)
Happy weekend!!! -
Hi hermits- I am really not into the "pink thing" or Pinktober (love the term). I have gotten things in the mail that are marketing to the masses, buy our stuff this month and we will donate to the American Cancer Society. The one that comes to mind is a pink vest being featured by Ralph Lauren this month. It just seems wrong to me to use something like breast cancer to sell your overpriced clothing.
I think the walks are a good thing though. I know several doing walks this month for all kinds of cancer fundraising. I think it helps people who have gone through this or have lost someone to cancer to find a common community. Community happens in all kinds of ways. -
I chose pink for my medical alert bracelete so medical personal would realize lymphedema caused by BC treatments.
Women are always glancing at my pink bracelete.
I find it hard to believe that a % of each sale of pink junk sold in a hole-in-the-wall goes to BC (whatever).
Many times money has been raised to help a family in the North Country going through a health crisis. Good feeling!! -
Yeah, Teka! i was talking to a woman i met in my treatment place, and we talked about starting a F**K P**K project where all the proceeds would go to poor women in treatment, like, you coud donate a blanket if she needed a blanket, or help with small cash. fundraised monies would ALL go straight to the woman, cause there are people out there really in need of some very basic stuff. -
I love the color pink but I dread October. We all need a cure, we need research to achieve that goal. Stage four folks need research for more and better treatments and yes, even a cure.
I am curious why anyone would think I would want to purchase or wear an item marked with a pink ribbon? Shoes? Sure I could remind myself with every step that my life span could be shorter than yours.
I stopped in to this topic because Hermit fits me perfectly and more than it did a year or two ago. I was in a car crash 5 weeks ago and am even more of a hermit now. I hurt all the time if I move at all. I got smooshed really hard by the seat belt. Also slammed b y the side curtain air bag. I was hit in the drivers side rear quarter panel and spun around and thrown backward into a ditch.
Am I going to be depressed and out of action for the rest of my life? There are things I want to do but don't, I just don't.
I will try to come back and read maybe there are some helps here. I am afraid I will never be who I was again. I take effexor for depression and hot flashes. My self care is close to zero.
-
gingerbrew you just started better self care!! Please come back and see us and share more -
kathec, exactly how I feel!
Gingerbrew welcome, I've seen you about the threads.
Lily55, 8:07am in the North Country and feel the need for a few more zzz's. -
Welcome back CC and Slick--It's always nice to hear from you,
Jazzy those picture are wonderful really. Such a happy looking day.
I'm sorry I haven't been here to much I don't know why I'm trying to keep up with all the changes--with getting AT&T TV OMG so different, this board can't do pics yet and now my Email is all different. Takes me forever to send out--I can't take changes very well.
And Pink is a georgeous color, but soory not to me--It's not October, but F***tober--it's to much junk. But I think the walks are great, if u can do them, but I would love to know the % if items sold that goes to BC-they all have different percentages so there must be a certain amount and most are doing the lowest, I think.
GINGER--I'm so so sorry for all u've been thru just reading that crash was an OMG moment u poor thing. But u wil see it will get better, slowly I'm sure but u'r here to write to us. Of course u feel sad I would be too. Like cancer isn't bad enough--I'm sure every part of u hurts. please tell us what happened to u'r body (only if u want) but whether u do or not don't stop coming here we're in all different stages of hermitting so we get it. And I'm sure right now u'r in a sad place but talking to us might help a little that's why we gather here--to help each other, so don't hide from us.Please
The weather is rainy and cloudy but I don't care really, my grandson and I spent the night together, my kids went out and sleep out--drinking LOL and he tried so hard to teach me the new stuff on AT&T and I learned like 1 thing, he was so patient but I just don't get it. OOHH I'm so braindead sometimes.
BBL -
Welcome Gingerbrew. So sorry to hear about your accident. Not like you have not already been through enough. We are a kind hearted supportive group here where you can be with whatever is going on. A judge-free zone for all of us.
Cami- we all have our days. We loving hearing from you!
Teka- what a good idea to do the pink bracelet for your lymphedema. That is a reason to wear pink to be sure any emergency responders know your situation.
Tiring week and low energy today. -
Even pink newspapers!!! -

Hey! Hi! -
Grannydukes- welcome! Lots of nice ladies here to chat with. No stalkers here either (I think). I was surprised to read that, but there are people with no boundaries everywhere in life. Come back and see us and say hi when you can!
Doing better tonight. I have not been sleeping well (arimidex I think) and that on top of longer hours this week just did me in. I did get out later today to walk, then swim at the gym, and then get some groceries. It was a beautiful day and knew getting outside would help and it did. As you know some days are just low for us.
I saw something funny I need to find and post here for a good laugh. Hang tight, I will be right back! -
-
grannydukes, welcome! -

Well Jazzy IF u do we're it. hahaha I love the looks on them.

Good Morning
Woke up early and went on facebook..only to discover that Julie has passed last night or night before...not sure. Not sure if she even posted on this thread, come to think of it..... I am shocked and sad, she was so determined to beat this.....her last post was about the food being good at the hospt....so up beat and seeing the good in things. She posted so many things on facebook....
I know realize how I attached I can get to one of many pen pals on this site....ttyl -
Oh Lori I hve to check now to see exactly who she is along the way I have talked and liked so many women. I'm so sorry to hear this. It is away so said to hear these things--cuz u feel like u know everyone u talk to a lot and get bonds with them. Even if we never met in person.
-
cami-she went by naan....I am so sad over this, like her I thought she was going to make it. But when I heard she had pneumonia, and in the hospt I was a little worried.... -
Oh I know that name Lori--I wasn't on a lot with her but I know I;ve spoken with her over time. Geeze It's so hard when u get to a certain point and think I'm getting a handle on this, then it comes along--I feel so sad for her family too.
