Well, that did post, at least from my vantage point. I was not able to go directly back to the "Glitches" thread without getting the site down message, but had to go back through the Forum to see if it posted. I'm wondering if anyone else can navigate to this thread that way?

I've also noticed that when I'm on "My Favorites" page and link to a thread, my navigation bar switches to "All Topics" and the same when I click from an "Active Topics" page. This just adds an unnecessary step to an already difficult to read webpage.

It’s hit and miss whether I can get in to threads. Can’t get into the Glitches one now, or the political thread, but this thread opened. Frustrating. This site has given me unparalleled support over the years, if it weren’t for that, I’d prolly be using some choice cuss words right about now. Sure hope this fiasco is temporary.

Several hours ago, I (slowly) got on the forums and posted a carefully thought-out reply to someone with a health question. I pressed submit, and after a long wait, a message popped up that the site was down. Mods, why on earth isn't that on the main page until you've got these enormous glitches fixed? That would be frustrating, but the current half-assed situation is infuriating. Or at least give us a truthful message like "Only parts of the site are functioning, and those are glacially slow. It is up to the user to determine which forum pages will work. Too bad!"

Acceptable downtime for websites is usually in hours per month. It is day 7 tomorrow so I don't have hope in this site existing much longer in a usable way. It is really sad for those of us who depended on the many women who gave their time and energy to help us all deal with breast cancer.

I think it is disrespectful, given how loyal and giving so many women have shown themselves to be, to act like it is just a usual "site maintenance" issue that 'advising tech team about "glitches".

And i can't imagine how bad it is for those undergoing treatment and facing scary changes. :-(

alicebastable, I'm sorry you lost your post, and the person could not benefit from your input. I thought I had lost a post today also but when I went back it was posted even though I had gotten a site not working error. Meanwhile, because I had done a CTRL-C on my laptop before posting of my text, I just reposted the same message--and it appeared twice!!! I deleted the second copy when I discovered it actually had posted. Hope you discover your post actually went through.

hi. I'm using Chrome on my android - Samsung 9.

I am confused where all my information about me went? Do I need to re-input all the diagnosis and treatments? I hope once things speed up, I'll be able to poke around and find my way around the new site. Right now I just find it too frustrating to bother with. But I had a personal message, so spent the necessary time logging in. Glad to see those go through.

I am sorry to lose this site's wealth of knowledge. I am in the middle of chemo and my community thread seems like people are frustrated as no one is posting. Here are my observations so far. I am on a Mac using Chrome

    1. My log in no longer works no matter how many times I tried. It just bounced me out. So I had to create a new login with a different email address and user name. I didn't want to take the time to put all my history and stats up again.

    2. Logging in with my new username and password, site jumps to a blank screen. It seems to log me in but not take me to the home page just a blank page. I have to spend time going back and forth to actually get logged in with access

    3. Loading slow and I have extremely high speed internet in the last few weeks. I doubt I'd be able to use this new site with my past internet, although the previous site worked ok.

4.Very frustrating is that the search is terrible, and no longer brings up user references. I've started having very unusual side effects from chemo. With the site's previous "search", I could get support from other users recommendation. Now I just get irrelevant articles. Search "eye twitching" and get articles entitled "switching" or "itching". Actual real live people's comments on how they dealt with side effects or what happened to them during chemo were a gold mine for me. Now they are gone.

    5. No way to log off

I know the moderators are doing all they can and probably are just as frustrated. It seems these web tech designers are inexperienced, maybe it was a cost factor. And over the course of the week or more of the launch I have not seen one correction. Why not switch back to the old format until they work things out.

I have one more chemo to finish in 3 weeks. I doubt this site will be operating any differently by then. I'm sorry to have lost valuable information and support.

Either site is not loading or takes too long to load, and that is on the laptop. I cannot open any page on phone. The tech team has work cut out for them as errors are not cleared after a few days. They should have worked during weekends too.

Is there a way to login without having to click on a member name which takes me to a blank page and then try to open again and see that I am logged in?

Thanks to Serenitystat for that tip but seems like there should be a more user friendly way.

Also, given that it has been a week and we can no longer call this "glitches" can you advise us as to whether we should just move on? It is really not good for BP to have to keep trying when we might be wasting our time, energy, health.

Mods--will there be color adjustments made eventually? I struggle with the "bright white" display. Thanks.

Had to create a new account until IT can figure out why I cannot access my old account.

When replying to posts I'm having to do reCAPTCHA.

Apologies if this has been brought up already.

What day did this all start, this “soft launch”? I’m still getting application error screens. I cannot tell if a page will or will not load. I have no clear way to log in but must go through numerous slow-loading pages to log in and then more to get to the My Favorites link. Makes me sad, What a shame.

Here are a few things that have become difficult for me. There seems to be random changes in CAPITALIZATION. When the all small font was tweaked it seemed some names & thread titles were changed to random capitals. Also, with this stark and minimalist 'look' I find the underlining on the Active Topics page to be cluttered and difficult to read. I think previously, only the names were underlined. I would rather topic headers be in a bolder font without underlines. It looks a bit like a high school table of contents page.

During the Passover Seder a cherished tradition involves hiding a piece of matzo, the afikomen. A bit later, the children play a game and look for the hidden matzo. We simply called it find the matzo. It was so much fun and made the very long and ritual laden Sedar bearable as a child.

I have been playing a similar game on bco called find the log in. Over the past 24 hours it has appeared in at least three different places on the menu ( Upper right on my iPad). Definitely not as much fun as playing find the matzo 😂.

I think I may have reached my limit and I am so sad. I don’t know if you can send out a mass email mods but you have my permission to send me a note when this fiasco has been resolved. I have tried to be understanding but not one single issue has been fixed in a week. And now I can’t even get into one of my favourite threads. In some ways it seems so petty but this site is a lifeline for those of us fighting for each day. So, so sad….

I share your frustration and sadness, Sadieservant.

Again, this morning it took at least ten clicks to find a log in button and then navigate to this page. The log in button kept taking me to a totally blank page.

Here are my fears: I fear that nothing on the forum will be fixed. I fear that these so called tech people are telling the mods that “yeah, everyone complains at first because no one likes change, but after awhile they'll get used to it." I fear we are stuck with this sucky set up.

It feels like the forum has suffered a catastrophic event from which is incapable of recovering. Like it had a stroke and can no longer render the services with the efficiency it once did. It's been a source of support to me for many years but I may have to give it up for Lent! (And I'm not even religious!)

    Signed,

    Unhappy

The developers should have done what is called a "SandBox" launch to test the site out behind the scenes before posting it.

And whatever site is hosting this clearly does not have the speed to handle it.

Would it be possible to revert back to the old format, then find a NEW web developer to do this project?

I'm sure it would be expensive, but I'd gladly wait until the money can be raised to do it the right way.

(p.s. I also posted this on the Feedback on New Forrmat thread, but it's hard to get to)

I'd like to reiterate that even if the site worked perfectly (rather than the disaster it is), the new modern layout and look are huge downgrades for those of us who read the boards on a computer. It may well be an improvement for mobile, but why force folks who use a computers to put up with the same stark format and so much wasted space? Either create a responsive website that looks good and functions well on both or write an app for mobile instead.

I can't get on with my phone at all, only my laptop. If I don't post again for a week, it's because I will be out of town for a week & literally can't get on. I am not even trying to check the 'All Topics' threads because it is so frustrating to even get to my favorites.

I am another one who expects to find posts when I use the search feature, not articles. Again, what on earth was the problem with the old system anyway? We've never been told why the switch even had to happen. Please, please, please shut this abomination down and switch back to the old system. Just what was supposedly wrong with it that it had to be changed? Even if this so called "board" was functional, I see absolutely nothing about it so far that would be superior to the previous functioning board, even if it wasn't absolutely perfect. It worked reasonably well for most people. I totally understand why many say they are leaving and looking for alternatives. This site was really nice and a big help while it lasted.

We are hearing each and every one of you. We are actively working with the tech team to address ALL glitches you (and we) are experiencing, and are also actively developing solutions to the color/font size feedback. We know you're frustrated, but we implore you to please remain patient as we roll out fixes. Unfortunately, these things do take time to make sure they are fixed correctly. Please know we ARE going to get our wonderful Community back in working order.

Moderators, I waited a couple of days again before logging in, and this site is still a disaster!!! I don't know the story you're being fed by your tech team and administrators, but since DAY 1, March 1, of this mess, we have been asking BCO to backtrack to the working version you had on Feb. 28. Instead, you keep promising you are working on it and "hear us." Now you tell us that "these things take time." That is about as awful a reply as you could have given. The time BCO should have spent "fixing" things was before you rolled out changes NO ONE WANTED! No one on the boards seems to have been asked what changes might have been needed, no one here seems to have been asked to beta test any changes, and BCO has never offered an explanation. Yet, BCO expects us to put up with the "frustrations" of a dysfunctional site and is cheerleading us into getting "our wonderful Community back in working order." You're killing the Community!!!!!! No website can tolerate and survive over a week of dysfunction! Knowing how BCO did backtrack on past horrible changes, why is BCO pushing to "fix" as opposed to reinstating the Feb.28 version so we have a workable site for all--new-comers looking for help and comfort, and those of us who keep coming back. I did test click the "Donate" icon and find it's one of the few things working!!! Of course, I will not donate to this dysfunctional mess.

Edited to fix a typo, then it wouldn't save, re-edited, and saved, only to have the site save the unedited version of my post. I'm trying again, but this just points to yet another dysfunction that needs "fixing." BCO took a working site and created this??!!

The site is really unusable, as you can tell by the lack of activity. Sorry for your loss, it's a shame we couldn't be using the old version until the newer one gets worked out. Anyway, I'm out. Can't use it. Can't see it, don't like it.

Couldn’t post for 4 days. I could log in, but I would get errors when trying to go to the discussion forum or PMs.

If you haven’t heard from someone that may be why.

I’ve done migrations. Version control is the ultimate undo. But I usually had dev, test, and live environments. That does take more resources, but leads to less downtime.

My biggest issue is load time to get on threads. I think the larger the thread the longer it takes to load. I clicked on one thread with two posts and it loaded right away but this one took about two minutes. Hopefully all the issues will be sorted out soon.

As of today, I have to use my computer to maybe get into BCO. Worse on my iPad and don't use my phone for this site so who knows what that could be like.

Mods, your apologies are nothing but lip service. They always sound exactly the same, even before this debacle. Its like a copy and paste from a cheat sheet of approved answers to try and keep the client happy. It's not happening for you because a lot of us are calling BCO out on these poor "sorry" posts.
