Haha LuvRVing -- definitely turbulence
Nothing we can't turn into a smooth ride!! Tech team is still working on it...thanks for your patience all!
-
If that's the case for multiple posts, what happened to that message you used to get "posts cannot be submitted in rapid succession" thingy? That must not be working either.
LOL LuvRVing....29 times?????
edited to add: now that I've complained about it, posts seem to be going through swimmingly.
-
It's not letting me log in from my Ipad but I can from my phone and computer.
-
Thanks Kate -- we just got your PM. Sending a note to the tech team -- will get back to you shortly!

Hi Mods. I just got this e-mail and I don't understand why. I'm not a heavy PMer and have never reported a post. Could you explain if I'm being restricted or why this was generated? Here is the message. Thanks!

Subject: breastcancer.org: You can no longer report posts or send unlimited private messages
To: Surly
***Please do not respond to this email as it is automatically generated.***
Hello Surly,
Due to mis-use, we have revoked your ability to report posts that violate the Community Rules (http://community.breastcancer.org/help/rules). In addition, you can now only send a handful of private messages each day.
Abuse of the post reporting functionality and private messaging systems are a serious infraction of the rules, and may also result in your account being temporarily or permanently banned from the Community.
Thank you for helping us maintain a supportive and welcoming community for those diagnosed with breast cancer.
Sincerely,The Breastcancer.org Team

Oops. Perhaps this wasn't the correct forum for reporting that e-mail I received. I'll see if there is another thread or way to contact the mods about it. Sorry I didn't thoroughly read through the topic description first.
S.
-
Surly- if you got that as a PM just hit reply and then ask the Mods what it's about.
-
Hi Kate. Brilliant idea! I should have tried that, even though it said "do not reply." Curiously, I suddenly got a congrats e-mail that I now have privileges. Thanks!
S.
-
Surly, you got the congrats email when we restored your privileges after receiving your PM.
And for anyone who may ever run into this, it occasionally happens when someone with whom a member exchanges PMs accidentally clicks the Report As Spam link in a message. That generates an automatic email.
We sometimes hear from the member who sent the report after they realize what they've done. We're happy to reverse the effect - just let us know by PM.

Hi Mods, was just wondering how the speed issues are going? I'm finding some threads worse than others but every post I do is slow enough to make a cup of tea....... well almost.
Thanks. Hugs. Chrissy -
Same problem here. The "submitting" button just seems to hang for a very long time.... I keep wondering if it's going to time out and I'll lose the post.
-
Dear All,
Posting to the boards has been very sloooow this morning. We continue to appreciate your patience as we work through the speed issues.
Just know we are working on it and we hope it improves soon!
Thanks

Thanks Mods!

This may not be the correct thread to post this however it may be a problem that could be addressed. The 'Post a reply' and 'Report this Post' are too close together. Especially for those who have trouble with fingers.
-
Thanks Marple -- we'll consider that!

The update that started at 8pm EST tonight is a disaster! Your developers are in Colorado, and I suppose they want to push their changes so they can go home at night, but loosing our forum the night before some people have scans, or have a surgery, or their first chemo. These larger updates really need to happen when the site is quieter, which is either late at night or early in the morning.
I do what they do for a living, and I can assure you that I only work on the live files when the connection rates are much lower.
I sure hope the improvements are worth the incredible slow downs. I feel like I am on a modem in the 1990's.

-
Susan, we saw the slowdown too, and reported it. You're right, scheduled maintenance usually happens late at night Eastern time, so this was likely unscheduled, necessary work.
We're very sorry that members were affected.

Help Moderators!
Thank you for fixing the posting problem...if this goes through, then I'll know.
I have rec'd msg about being blocked from sending PM. I have read on here that this can happen when someone thinks it is spam, which may have been the case because I had not posted anything due to the email verification problem that y'all fixed for me 6 hrs ago. I have only sent 9 msgs since Oct. 3 at 6:48 pm, and 2 of them were to the Moderators.
I don't know of any other way to reach y'all to get help. I can receive but not reply or initiate PM.
Thank you for your assistance.
Angie

rosie, we'll try to help!
Can you post or PM to this name to tell us what computer platform you're trying to use (PC, Mac, tablet or other smart device and its operating system version), your browser (Firefox, Safari, I.E.) and its version? Is the computer/device new, or did it work okay before 3 weeks ago?
The information will help us troubleshoot the problem, and if necessary, we'll ask the tech team to look into the situation.

westpalmgrl, we're sorry that you have been upset. We'll delete your posts from this site, but once the content of your posts (including the two you mentioned, from over a year ago) are on the internet, we have no control over it.
Important note for everyone reading this. The "private posts" westpalmgrl cites are not Private Messages; they were posts on the public boards, which are searchable using Google and other search engines. Anything members post in public, including profile information they elect to make public, is searchable. Private Messages are NOT searchable.
Please refer to the Discussion Board Privacy & Security Tips here on the boards for more information.
-
westpalmgrl, as requested, we are deleting your account, which will also remove all of your posts.

Mods - This may have been raised before. When a new topic is started by, say, a spammer, and the text is deleted by the Community, can the topic be deleted too? That would save us from opening up a topic that has nothing except for the deleted post (and also avoid clogging up the boards). Just a thought, thanks.
-
Lou, when we take action against those icky spammers, we do routinely delete the topic too, for just the reasons you mention! It may not happen at the same time as the Community deletion, but we do aim to get the topic/title off the boards too.
And, as always, thanks to everyone who takes the time to report the spammers so we can make them go away!

Mods - I had a post reported, I was banned, and reinstated all before I knew it even happenned, this morning. I got a PM from a Mod telling me, but not the post that was reported. Can I atleast know what post was reported and deleted or am I missing the way of discovering that? I realize that any post can be reported for any reason at all (and I continue my personal record, on principle, of never reporting anyone), but to permanently delete one of my posts without telling me which one and why, doesn't seem to improve the situation for the future.
Thanks
-
We have responded to this question in PMs.
-
Yes, thank you. It does appear to me that there is an excessive amount of reporting and subsequent and indiscriminite banning here, especially for a thread that is not publicly posted. I do appreciate, though, that you corrected the banning, asap.
-
I can't get into the chat. I get a 'classification not found' error instead of the box to login and put your pwd. I was able to get into chat just a couple of days ago...
-
Neener, thank you for your report. The tech folks know about the problems, and we continue to update them as we learn more.
NEWS - the tech team has made some changes, and Chat is back. Thanks for your patience!
