Watching anything good this season?

Can't say BB is holding my interest this season. Somehow, it's lost it's charm. I'll watch the third episode and give it one more chance....we'll see what happens. I have a feeling it will be my last. Uggghh! I'm disappointed.
-
I was a little confused with the first episode of BB but the second episode brought it right back up to snuff in my opinion. What a character study. What an acting job. The difference between good and evil is not black and white and is very, very thin. Walter White, the family man and chemistry teacher..... Walter White the murdering drug lord.... WOWWWWWWW..... I tried True Blood but not my cup of tea....
-
Bev, I agree, was afraid I had had it with BB the lst episode of this season, but then got back into it with the one last week. That honestly is the only thing I have been watching on TV lately....that and the show right after, IF I am still awake....I think that woman who runs the security company is a hoot.
I am now up to Season 3 of Mad Men. I have been getting the DVD's from the library and really have found it to be an excellent show even though most of the characters are not very nice people. How that one passed me by I don't know, but I just never watched it when it was on. They have just about all the television series at the library.
For some reason I just didn't get into True Blood this season and I used to love it. I did pick up the last Sookie Stackhouse book Charlane Harris wrote when I took my DVD's back to the library yesterday. I sort of go back and forth between reading and tv.
Anyone watching the Olympics? The open ceremony is always quite the event.
When does Treme come back? or is it coming back? I like shows set in New Orleans.
-
Marybe, Yes, the opening ceremony of the Olympics was great. Who know that Queen Elizabeth could skydive?
I think I saw an ad on HBO for the upcoming season of Treme, but I do not remember the date of the show's return. I was born and raised in New Orleans so Treme is quite a treat for me.
-
I missed the opening ceremonies but heard and read that they were really lacking. Did not see it so I can't say. As for Mad Men, I missed it when I was on but am in the middle of Season 3 now. I was given a Kindle as a gift so get it through that. It is an excellent show. Not fast and edge of your seat exciting like BB but great nonetheless, plus Hamm is definitely easy on the eyes lol.... I remember working in offices in Manhattan during those times. Everyone did smoke. There was an ashtray on every desk from boss on down. I don't remember all the drinking in the office though I do remember the martini lunches.... As for the cheating and fooling around, started way before and continues to this day.... Nothing new there. Anyway, the show is slow compared to BB or even True Blood but well worth the time. As for the Kindle, I got that as a gift from my son after I had emergency surgery a week after my original mastectomy. I had a MASSIVE hematoma in the chest cavity and almost was done for. My darling son got scared out of his mind, was not ready to lose mommy and bought me the $200 gift. There is a bright side to everything lol....
-
Marybe, i used to watch The Batchelor when it first started but lately its a little boring watching others hurt others while traveling to exotic locations.
Caught an episode of the new Dallas the other day,her son(SueEllen) is in jail/prison,the John Ross jr.? The 2 who play the sons of JRsr and Bobby are cute.
Watched Perception but found it boring compared to MiamiCSi.
-
Elizabeth, NO is one of my favorite cities....I have a good friend from childhood who lives in the Quarter. Where did you live?
Queen Elizabeth skydiving?!....guess she figured if the older George Bush could do it, so could she.
I am not watching Dallas....keep forgetting it is even on. The one son....one who plays Christopher I think was in Desperate Housewives.
Bev, talking about smoking and ashtrays.....I remember back when we made things out of clay in school and at GS camp, quite a few of them projects were ashtrays.....bet they don't encourage kids to that these days.
-
Does anyone else watching BB feel sorry for Jesse? The guy never smiles.
-
.....and BB is back! Glad I hung in there beyond the second episode. It was cool to see Skinny Pete play the organ; remarkable talent that I would never have expected. Skyler screaming at Marie cracked me up.
As for Jeese, yes, I've always liked his character and felt sorry for him. I still maintain the most pathetic moment in television was when his parents were selling the house from under him and he ended up falling through the port-a-potty, crawled into the RV and slept there in all the crud. I'm always cheering for him....loved when he bought the house from his parents. But now, he has to give up the girl and her son he loves....poor Jesse...the hazards of being of meth cook.
-
Marybe, I lived in a suburb west of New Orleans, but we went to the French Quarter often. What wonderful times I had there!
I have always felt sorry for Jesse on BB. The poor guy just got in over his head and it is too late to get out now. I love the way he still calls Walter "Mr. White" even after all that has happened to the two of them together.
-
Right now its Skyler that could bring everything down.Or the nosey sister inlaw. Yes I do feel bad for Jessie.
-
I haven't been watching the Olympics. Don't know why.
The character I love on Breaking Bad is Saul. He's slimy and hilarious.
-
I agree with you on Saul.... He is what every lawyer joke is all about. He's a sleazy lowlife yet funny as hell. I think he used to be a Saturday Night Live writer. As for feeling sorry for Jesse ...... wellllllll, you gotta remember, he did kill someone... he does have boatloads of money and he was a low level drug dealer even before he got in with Mr. White so while I LOVE the character, I don't feel too sorry for him...... Walt is the most interesting character ever on TV.... Watching the change from nerdy good guy to pure evil is fascinating. Poor Skylar. If I feel bad for anyone, it's her. She is in deep shit...... Love the show!! Waiting for Boardwalk Empire to come back. Also Dexter though it's lost much of it's luster in the last year or 2.
Has anyone watched and followed Downton Abbey. Wowwww, it's the best soap opera I've ever seen. It is a soap opera yet so much more, great characters, good story lines. Love it too.
-
Twelve mins til Breaking Bad.
I also love BoardWalk Empire, Bev. Margaret certainly has become nobody's fool.... and she was one I used to feel sorry for.
-
I don't like the new character (can't remember her name)...the executive at Madrigal. Hope she doesn't last long.
-
Aw, SO close to getting rid of her last night.....bummer.
-
Lydia is the one you don't like and yep, it was close. Isn't it amazing how Jesse was supposed to be sort of a dumb kid, or maybe it was just that he didn't apply himself in school, yet he is the one who comes up with all these wild ideas that actually work. I still feel bad about the kid and thought Jeeze, what a way to end an episode. I really like that Small Town Securities show which immediately follows BB . Talk about your quirky characters and I think they are real life people.

----------CONTAINS SPOILER OF AUG. 12th BB------------
When we were watching my son and I were sure Todd was a cop. What he did at the end of the show certainly made it clear he wasnt....yikes!
I thought it was so cute when Walt smiled and seemed kind of proud that Jesse was smart and actually learned something in his class all those years ago when he asked him to explain the methlamine/water ratio thing to Todd. I like the show taking the turn to show Jesse's a smart guy.
Lydia (thanks for reminding me of her name Marybe) Her character just doesn't seem to fit in. Checked her out on IMDB because I thought her acting was horrible and then realized she's actually Scottish and the one who played that cool blacksmith girl in "A Knight's Tale". Guess she's not so bad an actress, just trying to pour on this new character with a dialect that's not her own. I'm being hyper-critical....don't want anything to ruin the best show on tv.
-
Ooops, guess I may be spoiling this for people watching BB who aren't caught up also. SO DON'T READ THIS OR MY PREVIOUS POST IF YOU DID NOT WATCH 8/12 episode....didn't even think til I saw your warning Gracie. Anyway, where did this Todd guy come from? They must think he is OK or they would have killed him and I thought maybe they were going to when they were telling him how No One could know about what they did. I am probably mistaken, but I was thinking he was the guy who was working for the exterminating company and when they were checking out sites for their possible lab and we going into that house that was encased with plastic, he told them there was something inside ( could not really catch what he said), but Walt stopped and looked at him and asked him what his name was and I was thinking it was the same guy....but I could be wrong. Would not be the lst time this year. I am terrible about remember characters names and what actor plays whom, but I have a friend who always knows so many times I will call her up and ask Who plays so and so? When I was still watching Game of Thrones since we had both read the books, I would call her up and ask, did that happen in the book and I forgot it?...it was always No so I decided I no longer liked the show since they changed it so much and not for the better IMHO.
-
I couldn't remember the Todd guy at all so that ending really shocked me.BB is famous for throwing things like that at us.I love it.
-
I dont watch TV..but i do watch series online..
right now we are atthe end of 8 seasons of the Show Weeds..
LUV IT!
-
I watched the first 2 seasons of Weeds but lost touch.I will have to try and catch up.
-
Yes Marybe, you are right. Todd was the guy at the bug-bomb house. He told Walt that there was a nanny-cam in there that they should look out for.
Mumito, those shockers are awesome. I was thinking, through both episodes, that Todd was a DEA agent and then all of a sudden.......nope, not a cop!
-
Lately, when there hasn't been any good movie releases on the weekend, I've taken to watching "Lockup" on MSNBC. Simpsons fans will remember an episode where they were making fun of Canadian prisons, where the guard would just let everyone out of their cell and say "Be back before dark, eh". I laughed so hard when I watched Lockup this past weekend and saw it actually happens that way in a prison in Russia
. I tried watching Small Town Security....couldn't get into it. I initially thought it was a "mockumentary". I didn't know it was a real place. I wonder who actually hires these guys, with a chief that's perpetually wasted, or at least appears to be. -
You have to get into Small Town from the start, Gracie....that old woman, the chief, was actually beautiful when she was young and in some movies...they went into this a little in one episode. I just think all the characters are so weird and quirky that they are interesting....that guy who is her partner when they are out on patrol is actually a woman...or was a woman....but I don't think he had the surgery, just the hormones. So what are you thinking of BB this season? I am looking forward to Shameless and Boardwalk Empire coming back this Fall.
-
I am miserable that this is it for BB... 8 episodes now then 8 next summer than it's over. I wonder how it will end. One thing for certain - it is going to be ugly, bloody and deadly. Wouldn't it be ironic if they all got killed but not Walt? As for this season, I hate to say it, but it's lost a little of it's greatness. The first episode with the magnet, give me a break, I get dramatic license and I get that the show isn't overly realistic but c'mon, a giant magnet to get a computer? It was too silly. On the other hand, the ending of the episode with the train, now that was edge of your seat exciting. I wish they'd do a Saul spinoff. It could be kind of like Shameless because Saul is. Also, just as Walt has changed and watching it has been fascinating, so has Skylar. This season, she is a different person.
Can't wait for Boardwalk Empire in a few weeks but will definitely miss Michael Pitt. What a shocker that was....and Dexter had been losing some of its kick but now that his sister caught him, oh boy, I look forward to how that story line goes.
-
I'm liking it Marybe...just didn't care for the Lydia character....also need more Saul. Even at it's worst it's still 100 times better than any other show on tv. Two more episodes....sigh. Then more waiting.

Any BB fans willing to share how they think the series will end? I've run about 10 different scenarios in my head, all which end in Walt's death due to his illness.
-
I think the show has been pretty realistic. The magnet was to erase the hard drives of all the computers in the evidence room, including Gus', not to get it out of the room.
-
I think that Walt will die in the last episode and not from cancer. Will miss this show very much.
-
Who do you think is going to kill him?
